I found this place on yelp and had to try it. This is a Jamaican Mexican fusion in a casual setting. Love it. The al pastor looks different to the usual red colored pork meet but this is pretty legit in taste. Even has the traditional pineapple pieces mixed in. The flavor was perfect. We also tried the Jamaican jerk chicken tacos and they were also great. The one critique is on the price point, however, this is laguna real estate so I'm sure that this is a big influence on the pricing. These are regular sized tacos, not very big, so I thought the price was a little high. Nonetheless, I was still pleased with my meal. This is a restaurant you could easily walk by without any notice, but boy is it worth the stop. My friends and I were in Downtown Laguna, craving some tacos. I'd normally head to La Sirena just a block down from Forest Ave, but they're closed on Sundays. And after quickly remembering there was another taco place around the corner, we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did! The three of us decided to get 2 Carne Asada Tacos, 1 Al Pastor Taco, a cheese quesadilla, Chips & Guac, Mexican Cola and a Modelo. I was so impressed with the quality of meat and was surprised to find that one taco was a good amount of food with chips and guac as the side. They do appear pricey since you have to purchase each taco separately, but they're pretty big. I would recommend everything we got but the Al Pastor Taco was for sure my favorite. It comes with little chunks of pineapple and bacon! A unique combination of flavors but I loved it. They have a unique salsa bar that has everything from green salsa to a funky sour cream (I'm blanking on what flavor it was)! Oh and as a bonus, the staff were pretty friendly too. They have these bowl items as well, think high quality burrito or taco bowl, that looked good, but we didn't give them a try. But they seem to be a good, take to-go to eat on the beach option. So good. As I'm typing this, there's a review to the right talking about how terrible the owners are. My experience is that the people running the place aren't dying of friendliness, but who knows why? Maybe they live rough lives. Maybe they've seen some things, if you catch my drift. Wow... Pretty much stumbled upon this place by walking by and saw people enjoying tacos and saying "These tacos are ridiculous" I realized I needed tacos as well!! I ate here in June 2016, and I assume they were fairly new because while I was outside eating a passerby asked me if the place was new. I could tell just by the name of this place that the food would be delicious. I mean, how could you go wrong with some Jamaican tacos? It's tucked in a little alleyway off a main strip of downtown. But they have excellent signage so I found this place before even looking up where to eat on Yelp (I'm a crazy person, I know). So after confirming they are highly rated on Yelp (okay, I'm not an absolute nut-bag) my dad and I stopped in for a late lunch. I went with the Jerk chicken taco and the al pastor taco. My dad just got the jerk chicken taco but I felt bad so I let him pick off my plate too. Both of these tacos were legit. The meat was juicy and bursting with flavor and they both had fantastic sauces (underneath the meat) to pull it all together. I think the fact that I ate here twice in one week goes to show how highly I think of their tacos. I recently contacted Rasta Taco regarding a catering request for our annual holiday party. I cannot say enough about how fantastic the experience was from start to finish. Chef Horton did an amazing job with the food and Luke who delivered the food was fantastic. There was SO much food and it was all super delicious. We had 20 people at the party and people were going back for seconds and thirds. The staff is always great in person at the shop, and the food speaks for itself. Cool place, love the concept and vibe. Great sounding menu, friendly service and a few free parking spots which is hard to find in this area. We shared one of each taco which came out be be pretty pricey as the tacos are about $4-6 each. They are street size, meaning tiny at just 3-4 small bites each. So collectively, we ordered a veggie burrito combo, a chicken burrito combo, and chips & salsa. Ok first off, the combo only comes with the burrito & a fountain drink. No rice and beans, no chips and salsa, no nothin. Just a fountain drink. For $8.99. We both agreed that it was a rip off. My veggie burrito was surprisingly sweet. I wasn't a fan. The green and yellow squash were not a great compliment to the the cumin rice, black beans, pico de gallo and guacamole. The whole burrito was a flavor fail. Save some money and go to Chipotle for a veggie burrito. My boyfriend's chicken burrito also sucked and we concurred that we won't be back again. Chips and salsa were a la carte for $1.49. It came with maybe 5 disk-style tortilla chips and about a 1/4 cup of salsa. Maybe we would have had better luck with the tacos... We got a free hat for checking in, though! read more

Definitely not one $. Tacos range from $4.50-7 each and they are the small street taco size. Food was decent, didn't think it was anywhere near the 4.5 star reviews (ate here with two other people and all agreed). This is a pet peeve of mine so it may not apply to the majority here but their iPad POS system offers you to add a tip before any service was given, which is a current trend that is opposite of what it should be. One should tip after the service has been rendered. So in annoyance of me thinking, "oh this chick taking my order now hates me and thinks I'm cheap because I'm not going to tip her for just taking my order" I realized that the cheapest tip option was 18%! This absurdity only increased my annoyance of their system and false one $ on Yelp. So in my option they failed. Delicious tacos!! Highly recommend the tacos Al Pastor....pork with bacon, caramelized onions and pineapple!!! Delicious!! We also enjoyed the jerk chicken ones. Good vegan and vegetarian options too. The mango curry salsa was so different and tasty ...the other two ...a tomato and a tomatillo...were also terrific. Great quality food with a Jamaican twist. I had the al pastor burrito and it was huge and had plenty of meat. My wife had the Asada taco special and she loved them. One of the highlights is the salsas and sauces, they were fresh and flavorful. My favorite was the chipotle sauce. Staff were efficient and friendly. It is a walk up restaurant but there is a nice patio where you can enjoy your meal. I am definitely coming back next time I am in the area. read more

I loved how I was able to choose the shell, I went with corn, they also offered lettuce and regular flour. Came into Rasta Taco with my girlfriend and her family for a quick lunch before the beach. Starving all morning, I was hoping Rasta would be a great experience based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately, it was far from that. I was disappointed to hear that the rice and beans were combined together as I do not eat beans, thus limiting my choices. Deciding on a couple tacos, I ordered and took a seat to wait, also checking in on Yelp to receive some free chips and salsa. When my name was called, I walked up to the counter to be given a single taco. I asked about the other taco and they said I did not order it, which everyone in my party clearly heard. They also forgot the chips and salsa. Trying to order the additional taco, I was then told I had to wait to even order because they had a large group. WTF? You would think after they messed up, they would work to quickly remedy things, but no. When finally they began taking more orders, they then proceeded to begin taking someone else's order. After being out of paper to go write it down, despite it being only one taco, I decided to simply cut my losses and go elsewhere at that point. Joining the others at the table, I then came to find out that all four other tables had something messed up in their order, including my girlfriend's parents and siblings. The group ordered ended up also being three items shy. Awful customer service, awful service. Never plan on returning to this place. However, the one taco I did get to eat was pretty good. I'm super confused about this place. Sure it's over priced and sort of weird to be defaulting the payment screen to 15% tip when there are no servers but am I the only one who has experienced inconsistent food ranging from "I can't stop eating this burrito" to "wow, I feel like I just got food poisoning?" WOW! As a local I am always wanting to try new places + hope that they pull through! Rasta Taco def does. I ordered the popular Jamaican jerk chicken taco + the carne asada taco. I can't decide which one I liked better. The super moist chicken has a great bite to it + the creamy slaw that complimented it was perfection. The carne asada was tender, lean + has SO MUCH FLAVOR. Awesome place. Very friendly staff. Gabriella is so helpful and friendly, she helped my family and I decide what we want to get. Throughout the whole time she was giving us recommendations as well as explaining the menu which made our lives so much easier. We ended up getting the Potato tacos and mahi mahi bowls.
