My wife and I have eaten at Ray Ray's in Statesville several times and at first everything was great then seems like service is trending downhill as well as other things. For instance, the last two times I ordered the cheerwine and it tasted more like carbonated water. My wife wanted orangeade on two different occasions and it was not available. The chicken sandwiches and fries are still awesome. The shakes were good but it takes way too long for them to be prepared. Wait staff was very attentive on keeping drinks refilled. This is my second review this time I went to your drive through. I got a Shack Attack, 6 Chicken Strips and a Reeses Milkshake. Might I say the Shack Attack was for me and oh my Goodness is was Sooooo Gooood I Highly Recommend This Sandwich it is Chruchy on the outside and soft on the inside and Sooo Delishous! Wouldn't personally recommend. The service was nice, but they messed up my entire order. I ordered the Mac & Cheese Bowl, which, for anyone who'd rather not search up the menu, contains Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Ray Ray's Sauce, Ranch, and Bacon Bits. I asked them if they'd exclude the ranch, but the order came with ranch, and quite a lot may I say. I politely asked the server if they could remake it without the ranch and the ray-ray's sauce, as I had changed my mind about the sauce. The server was polite and allowed me to keep the original bowl. Now, whenever it came back, it was, veritably, without both sauces. They had also excluded all of the bacon bits, however. I was a bit disappointed but too socially awkward to correct them again. The bowl was what you'd expect, mediocre but I suppose good quality. The Mac & cheese did have a good bit of thickness and texture, but the chicken was quite tasteless and I didn't particularly like it. I then ordered the root beer float, as it's one of my favorite drinks, and it came conveniently fast. Despite its namesake, however, the root beer was gone in about 2 sips, leaving me with what was essentially a large cup of vanilla ice cream, which is currently sitting in my cup holder as I wait for it to melt, because I only have a straw to drink it with. I also ordered the pretzel bites, which I did not get until I came back up to the counter and asked about it. The receipts also don't include what you ordered, which is a bit inconvenient. Personally, I will never come back to this restaurant, and will be finding a better place to dine at. Hopefully with better root beer floats. It's mediocre and exactly what you'd expect from every other fast food place, so it's good for convenience, but you shouldn't go here if you want high quality food. It's only about a step or so above the average McDonald's, I'd say. The loud yelling was also quite disconcerting. read more

Finally got a chance to try Ray-Ray's Chicken. Hubby only wanted wings so that's what we tried. Had to go inside because, as usually, the drive-thru went out into the street. Parking lot was almost full too. As we left, the parking and drive-thru situation was even worse. Food was prepared fast and we brought it home. Wings were packed in foil, then a cardboard box, so they were still piping hot. First off, the Beer Cheese Fries and the Pretzel Bites were awesome. Highly recommend for those who enjoy things like this. The wings were cooked well. Crispy outside, juicy inside. No taste of dry rub at all. Just plain chicken. Hot Sauces: Mango Habanero (bland), Nashville Hot (weird dark taste, perhaps "smoky?"), & Garlic Parmesan (simple) Dipping Sauces: Ranch (ordinary), Ray-Ray's Sauce (tasted like a dupe for McD's special sauce) So to be honest, we were a little disappointed. My fiancée and I grabbed dinner here before a local soccer game. Food was great! It was hot and fresh and very flavorful. Chicken had the right amount of spice in it without it being too spicy to handle. Pretzel bites were baked to perfection and had the right amount of crisp and the right amount of softness inside. Service was not the best, but to be fair they were very busy and had a line backed up through the parking lot in the drive thru and we chose to eat inside. We will be back. I felt I got a great deal for the price I paid. We got two meals for $25. And I saved half my food so I was able to get two meals out of my one plate of food ! read more

Very very disappointed, on serial occasions I have been to ray ray's because we did enjoy the food. On several occasions they are out of something, someone needs to get ahold of supply and demand there ! Yesterday evening is good example july 5th I waited on 38 minutes in line for them to tell me that they were out of chicken, bread, wings, and pretzel bites... and more.. I will not be back sorry for statesville nc the place never has what you want or need ( like a large cup) another example. Corporate needs to see this and start fresh. The worst fries I have ever been served by far. They were cold, wet and soggy. The spice is weird, and there was no salt. Disgusting.

Well...I thought parking at a Walmart in a Saturday was bad...this place was completely out of spots...which led me to believe that...hmmm...must be a pretty good place...so I found a place to park and as I walked through the door I suddenly realized that I was sliding on some type of greasy ice skating rink...as I stabilized my balance and technique I worked my way through the line and placed my order...a #4...Nashville Style chicken sandwich....i'll say food and sweet tea were pretty okay...but for me a joint has to be clean...doesn't have to be brand new or immaculate...but needs to be clean...and clearly it wasn't...the folks working there were nice and did a great job but there was clearly some confusion and a lot of unorganized items laying about...and lots and lots of workers not doing much to fix...anyways..pretty okay food but place in general...not for me... read more

Placed a DoorDash order from Ray Ray's Chicken Shack for the first time and unfortunately it was a really disappointing experience. It took almost an hour to get our food, and when it finally arrived it was barely warm. The beer cheese fries were soggy, the regular fries were hard, and the chicken strips were so salty I couldn't even eat them. Even the Ray's sauce was overly salty. Finally tried Ray Ray's last night with the fam after my daughters softball game! Here's my honest review: "Tried Ray Ray's Chicken Shack for the first time last night and I'm still thinking about it like it owes me money Ordered the 4-piece tender combo with double fries, sweet tea, and extra Ray Ray's sauce... and let me just say there were ZERO survivors. I blacked out and next thing I knew the box was empty. The tenders were crispy, juicy, and seasoned like somebody's grandma was in the back making sure it was done right. The fries? Destroyed them. The sauce?? I should've ordered a gallon. Ratings: Chicken tenders were as good as if not better than Cane's. 9.7/10 Fries were seasoned to perfection and much better than Cane's. 9.9/10 The bread was very good but I think Cane's is still slightly better. 9/10 The Ray Ray's sauce was but I can't say it was better than Cane's so calling that a tie. 9.5/10 Sweet tea was good no complaints 9/10 Dabbing Chicken on the window gets bonus style points 10/10 Overall 9.5/10 would absolutely risk it all again. I entered this forsaken restaurant with my faith in finding new, quaint restaurants still firmly intact but I leave a broken shell of who I was. The 91.5 sanitation rating should have tipped me off to what I was getting into. I ordered the ultimate meal and found a table that I had to wipe down as it was still covered in crumbs. Disgusting. Two people in my party received their drinks while me and my brother did not as he had ordered a shake and the waiter had forgotten my drink. After retelling him there was still no drink in sight and I waited until the food came. Now the food... I shudder to think of it. The waiter came over with a normal sandwich and after asking about it he claimed that it was what was on our ticket. So I waited an extra couple minutes for the replacement to come just for the most average fast food chicken sandwich I've ever had. I would not recommend this place under any circumstances. Food was great! Drive thru wait time was awful. The first time we went there was a fight between the employees which caused the cops to be called. With all the chaos from that, we ended up waiting over 35 minutes in the drive thru line. The food was so good that we decided to give them another shot. We ended up waiting 25 minutes in the drive thru.... 20-40 minutes in a drive thru for chicken tenders is ridiculous. We haven't been inside so maybe that's better? Don't plan on going back solely because of the wait time. read more

Terrible customer service! I was given the wrong order in the drive thru and circled back around to resolve the issue. I was told the only way to fix the issue would be to physically come into the store, which I was unable to do. Even after stating I could not do that, I was told "well, when you're able to, can you come in? That's the only way we can fix it". Horrible!!!! read more
