I needed a pump out and not knowing much of the process I was recommended to use them. We had used a precious company who wasn't even pumping us out completely so he was coming back yearly. A total scam. First Lisa was amazing, knowledge and professional and told me all we needed to know about pumping out the cesspool. The whole crew at Scudder did a great job dealing with the septic system at the house I moved into in October 2022. It was unclear where the septic tank and cesspool were located and there were no obvious access points. I had good reason to believe it hadn't been pumped out in 15+ years and I wanted to head off any disasters that might happen over the winter after the ground had frozen. Tommy came out and pretty quickly located what appeared to be the septic tank's cover, around one foot below grade. But in the course of doing that we initially discovered that an electrical conduit was running right over top of the cover and later discovered that a few irrigation lines were too! After getting the utilities marked out by an outside party (a whole other story!), Tommy came back, dug out the area around the cover and the obstructions and was able to slide the cover off. (Fortunately, there were a few inches between the conduit and the cover. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with the irrigation lines so with my permission he cut those and I'll get someone to deal with them later.) The pump-out process was...extensive. So I'm glad I had it done proactively. It was a pleasure to work with Tommy, Bob, and Lisa at Scudder! read more

The basement washer was draining back into the washroom on occasion that wasn't not related to the plumbing as the pipes were updated recently. Plumber visit suggest to look at cesspool. I called for a Routine cesspool pump and treatment. Tommy came and was Friendly and informative. Since the access to the cesspool was marked, I opted to treat the cesspool myself, and only used the pump services. My parents always used Scudder so I called and spent 20 minutes on the phone with Lisa troubleshooting an issue of a mystery smell in our new house, after we recently had our cesspool pumped by a different company, She walked me through a bunch of things to look out for, determined she really thought it was just an issue with my laundry holding stagnant water (it had been giving me error messages recently), and advised me to run a few cleaning cycles with affresh tablets to see if that fixed the issue -- it did!! Easily could have sent a crew out to charge me to look around and give me the same advice, but instead she took the time and helped me for free. I called Lisa last week and discussed a plumbing issue I was having with a first floor toilet. After asking me a few questions, she recommended sending Tommy to my house to take a look at the cesspool. Tommy dug out both clean outs and inspected both pools. He had me run some water and flush a few toilets to check for any blockages. He spent an hour or so at my house and ensured me everything was fine from that end. Both guys were very neat, and my lawn was returned to its original condition. I was pleasantly surprised. I called Ray Scudder's after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp, Google, and Nextdoor. Well, it appears that sometimes what you read on the internet IS true. I first spoke to Lisa and was about to start calling others to compare quotes when I realized these people already know my neighborhood, my neighbors use them and they were ready to come out the very next day at a very reasonable price. The next call was from Tommy, who immediately won me over. He was personal, attentive, and actually listened to my situation. I had to work, so my dad and brother stayed at my house to meet them. They had a similar reaction to Tommy and his associate. They located three pools in my front yard. They determined the first overflow was abandoned and the link between the main pool and the new overflow was blocked. They cleared the blockage and made honest, thought-out recommendations on how I should handle the abandoned block pool and what I can do in the future. I cannot recommend a better cesspool service. We had called another company and no one bothered to return our calls. We then called Ray Scudder who was recommended by a friend that had used him a lot in the past. When we saw the Yelp reviews, we gave them a call. We were having an overflow issue into our basement. Bob came and pumped out the cesspool then discovered we had a clog in the pipes and took care of that as well. We didn't know much about the type of cesspool we had and Bob told my husband all about our system, how to take care of it and when we will need to be pumped out again. Great company!
