Bacon egg and cheese on croissant
    Joao L.

Stopped by for a quick breakfast and was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant and it was absolutely perfect. The croissant was warm and flaky, the bacon crispy, and the egg cooked just right. Simple, classic, and delicious. Service was super quick and the staff was really attentive without being overbearing. You can tell they care about their regulars but also make newcomers feel welcome. Also the coffee, Genuinely amazing, Strong, hot, and fresh exactly what I needed to start the day. This spot feels like a true local gem. I'll definitely be coming back.

We came here for breakfast and ordered an Iced Mocha Latte, a regular hot coffee, Huevos Rancheros and the French Toast Melt. The Iced Mocha Latte was awesome and was dripping in chocolate syrup, but was not too sweet. However, the regular coffee was very small and bitter. As for the food, I love a french toast sandwich but I felt like this one had too much bacon and cheese on it, and on top of this, it was slathered with a big chunk of butter. It felt very a bit heavy for breakfast. The Huevos Rancheros were a bit better. I really like how Ray's lets you choose between all different kinds of sausages from an array of South American countries. The entire menu is actually very cool because it feels like American/Latino breakfast fusion. The waitress was very patient while explaining all the different kinds of chorizo to my husband, and overall the service was excellent. I am knocking off one more star for the ambiance. The restaurant is very cute but the indoor seating seemed very cramped. We decided to sit outside because of this, but I ended up having water dripping on me from the roof the entire time (it wasn't raining, so I guess this was from an air conditioner?). The outdoor seating is also close to the road in a pretty busy part of Montclair, which for me was a bit hectic for breakfast.

Small place, with a HUGE HEART! Everything on their menu has amazing flavor and taste, been coming here for almost 13 years, and even today, they made me a special plate... Keeping it interesting! No special occasion, I'm just a Mickey Fan and so I got a surprise when I ordered pancakes. They serve with love and that's what makes them so different, whether it's your first time or hundredth. Once your hooked, your hooked... Try it once, love it forever!

Great food, service and history! Love the Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, salt pepper and ketchup! And the disco fries! Excellent fries with gravy and melted mozzarella cheese. So nice to see the pictures of my Uncle Ray up on the wall. Rays still delivers the full experience. Friends, food and family!

Because there are not very many restaurants I go to that offer a freshly brewed iced tea, which is one of my favorite drinks. It's very much like an old diner, but more upscale. I ordered the kale and wheatberry salad, which was very good, especially as it had grapefruit on it. I would've liked if it had more pieces of grapefruit, as two was very little, and I also would've liked if they had a stronger vinaigrette to pair it with. My boyfriend, on the other hand, order the pancakes and make them chocolate chip chips, and I have to say those are by far the best pancakes I've ever had. They tasted sort of like a very moist cake, but not too sweet that it is overwhelming. We will truly be coming back and try more things from their menu, especially excited to try their dinner items.

Cool atmosphere, great energy, and good food! I also got super lucky with Hailey as my waitress. She sold me on just about every item on the menu... to the point where I completely handed over the decision-making to her. Yup, that's right, I told her what I liked and trusted her to pick my three dishes. And listen, when your name is on the menu for crafting a cocktail, I'm going to trust you to pick my meal too! Now for the food: the grilled octopus was amazing. Great flavor, perfect texture, and a really nice balance with the lentils. The shishito peppers were delicious, and the sauce that came with them added the perfect pop of flavor. The beet salad, however, was a little underwhelming. Unfortunately, it didn't have much flavor, so that one left me a bit disappointed. And then there was dessert. Oh man! Hailey did it again. She brought out the sweet corn cheesecake. Sounds weird, I know, but I had to try it. And yes, it definitely had sweet corn! It was a little too weird for my taste buds, but I'm glad I tried it.... Then came the Madeleines. Bite-sized, warm, and absolutely delicious. Fair warning: if you don't tell them to take the bowl away, you WILL eat the entire thing. Man oh man...so good!!! Overall, a really fun experience with a great atmosphere, good food, and a waitress who genuinely made the experience memorable. Kudos to Hailey for the great service and for knowing exactly what to recommend! She definitely made my night.

The outside was heavily breaded with bread crumbs and the top was sprinkled with parmesan cheese and chopped scallions. Even the dipping cup was supersized to accommodate the diameter of the stick! It's already a bit inconvenient to come up with a dish on the spot, but to go the extra mile by caring that it would be satisfying as a main dish was really very kind. And it turned out fantastic. This restaurant has so much going for it in the quality of its ingredients and dish compositions. I would encourage the chef to consider how the can apply their creativity to a dedicated vegan dish as well. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal.
