We ordered from the Valentines Day menu, $110/per person. The main appetizer (gumbo), the main entree (1 1lb lobster), and dessert (warm butter cake) were all below average. The oyster Rockefeller was great along with the bread. The drinks were not to die for either. I probably won't return. We had a lovely time dining here for my mother in law's birthday. I hadn't been in several years and was instantly reminded of the beautiful time I had during my first visit. We were a party of 5 and 2 babies with a reservation. We arrived a little early, but they were able to seat us immediately. Our server Dylan, was awesome! Anisha L. was literally the worst server I have EVER had, I was a server in the past, so I always sympathize with servers, because I have been there & done that, so I am not one to typically complain about service, so it is bad. A person at our table requested a bloody mary with no spice, Anisha brought a bloody mary full of pepper, eventually about 10 minutes later upon Anisha's return to our table, we said it was spicy with pepper, her reply was that we said no spicy & pepper is different, got us something else, OK. We stacked up the appetizer plates while we were finishing the appetizers, because Anisha kept asking to take the large appetizer plates & I set them on the end of the table right to be polite, in front of my appetizer plate I was still eating from. Anisha took our entree order, I asked her to please take the stack of large appetizer plates, she had our menus & a server tray & she looked right at me with attitude & said when she had free hands she would, a few minutes later she finally took the dirty plates from directly in front of me, then I was able to finish my plate of appetizer food. When Anisha dropped off our entrees she touched my bacon on the plate with her bare hand, didn't say anything or take it back, then when reaching past my plate she dragged her stained & dirty shirt sleeve by her wrist across the top of the hollondaise sauce portion of my plate, literally & also didn't say a word about it or offer to replace it. That is absolutely unacceptable & unprofessional & gross to be frank about it. It is doubtful I will return here based on our experience and the way we were treated by Anisha. On a side note, which is not the server's fault, the eggs benedict eggs were literally hard boiled, not runny at all. We spent our one year anniversary here tonight and had the best time. The food was delicious! The steak and shrimp was very tasty; I enjoy my steaks blue and they cooked it perfectly with a nice crust and very raw inside. The lychee martini was dangerously flavorful! The seafood platter was a wonderful assortment; My husband enjoyed the crab cakes the most! The creme brûlée was made to perfection. Service is great & they're super attentive. The lighting is very dimly lit & "romantic." Valet parking is available on site. I ordered the halibut & it was okay. I personally would get something else next time as the fish was bland. My mom ordered a trio special which came with a petite filet, Oscar style, a crab cake & shrimp. She enjoyed it & said it was really good. She specifically said the crab cake was great. They gave me a birthday dessert & I chose red velvet cake. It was a massive piece of cake. Pretty good. We made a reservation for four before going to the Nutcracker at Cobb Energy Center. (Canoe was closed Dec 26th.) I am thankful Rays was open because it really "made" our Girls Day special. My mother in law treated my daughter, myself, and my sister in law to the Nutcracker and we really wanted something for my 7 year old to feel "grown up and fancy". So Rays it was. It had been a while since I have been to Rays. I hope we can come back in the Spring and sit out by the river. Maybe I can bring my daughter for brunch some time. The ambiance was great. My daughter tried She Crab soup for the first time. It was delicious but a LARGE amount for a 7 year old...wish it came in a cup size. We all got salads - my sister in law got the salmon salad. We came to Rays for the first time a couple months ago and it was phenomenal, so decided to go back for Valentine's Day. I've never been to one of those pre fixed menu deals before; to be honest the food felt kind of mass produced. Like they were just pumping out plates and letting them sit under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. Maybe this is common for a busy day like this, but for the price they charged it was most definitely subpar. Its really pretty! Specially the views of the river and the small trail around the cigar lounge. We went in around 3PM, they were out of a few options from their brunch menu but we got there late so ... we had shrimp cocktail, gumbo and jumbo omelette. My 1st visit today and what a fabulous dining experience to bring in 2025. This place was beautiful, clean, the staff was smiling, the music sounded so good l thought a live jazz band was performing and my food tasted outstanding (kudos to the chef). I dined during the Sunday brunch hours and l ordered the garden omelette with a moscato mimosa to drink. My omelette arrived hot, the flavors l could taste them all and no salt or pepper was necessary. Yes!!! It was really really good. I didn't eat the salad that came along with it because l was full so l can't comment on the taste but it did look delicious. My mimosa was made with Moscato instead of Prosecco and it was a floral bouquet for the mouth and my request for the wine substitution was fulfilled without any hesitation. This as the best celebratory meal I have ever hosted. My husband graduated and wanted a no fuss steakhouse. I made a reservation through OpenTable easily and was able to add in that we were celebrating a milestone. We arrived (note that there is valet available) and the decor for the holidays was beautiful. I had requested outdoor/window seating to enjoy the view of the river and the hostess made sure to review my request and accommodate accordingly. As a third-generation Atlanta native, I feel a little silly for never having eaten at an Atlanta institution like Ray's on the River. Having done so, I can certainly see what all of the fuss is about! Ray's is situated in a gorgeously setting, conveniently accessible from anywhere in the metro area. The facilities can accommodate a variety of party and dining types, and the decor offers a mid-century modern "Rat Pack" aesthetic without being gimmicky or distracting. The views of the water are also lovely. Ray's offers a typical collection of Americana cuisine, with an emphasis on steaks and seafood. My wife and I consider ourselves somewhat connoisseurs of aquatic fare, and we were very impressed. We both fond the mussels exquisite, served in a subtle broth that brought out their natural flavor. My wife's honey-glazed salmon was perfectly cooked, with the preparation and texture of the salmon itself a major point in its favor. I found the seafood broil platter to be a delightful combination of flavors, and with very fair portions. A highlight of the evening was our two servers, Frankie and Jayla. They were attentive and expedient throughout the evening, helping us determine the best meals and taking care of us throughout supper. In particular, we were very appreciative that Frankie and Jayla helped to expedite our orders, as we had to leave to get to the opera after supper. They were both excellent servers and represented Ray's on the River extremely well. For the cost conscious and value minded, they are up front about the typical price range running from $20 to $46. With this in mind add desert and that could potentially raise the price to about $60. I imagine having a set menu for special days like valentine's day allows a restaurant to focus on but a few items to accommodate as many guests as possible. With an advertised meal calculated at $60 per person, a Fixede Menu price of $120 for this special day is not that far off. Since both the salad and main course each state choose two, one could easily get the understanding that the price was for two people. I even went back afterwards to review the menu. I could not find where the price was per person. After all, that would be twice the normal price of $60. If the meal included two items, then we are each short one item (as displayed on the receipt), or a refund of over charging. Besides the price gouging for a special day my largest issue with this upscale restaurant was the shoddy service. There were two couples seated, and we were seated between them. One couple had placed their order and we witnessed the other placing theirs. That both were served prior to us was not surprising. What was surprising was that both were served prior to our order being taken. Yet a third couple was seated, order taken and they too were served prior to us. The initial server rarely showed again. One of the extras (not the young lady that took our order) actually brought out our food. The original server did in fact return after our meal was served with my wife's drink. Drinks were ordered before the main meal. The meal itself was wonderful. The service was subpar based on reviews of the establishment. I'm not sure if the pricing was intentionally misleading, the description was misunderstood, or if there was an error in ringing up the meal. Our server seamed to have abandoned us as we had to flag down another server to retrieve the bill as well as to check out. This is not the service or experience we expected. read more

I've usually always had a great experience at Ray's. Sadly, they missed the mark tonight. I took my husband out for his birthday dinner and we both ordered the bone-in ribeye, temp medium. The first time, it was brought out blue (rare) and was inedible. Even the waitress was shocked. The second time it was brought out, both steaks were closer to well done, but we still ate them. The sides were good, but sadly it didn't make up for how poorly both of our steaks were cooked. The ambiance is still nice and all in all we had a nice time. Sad to say, we will more than likely not be returning. If I'm going to pay almost $400 for a meal for 2, I expect my steak to be cooked correctly.
