The decor was nice and being by the river was nice and relaxing. It was cold out but when you walked up to the restaurant door they had heaters on to make you feel welcome and warm. We were greeted at the front door and give a great seat of your choice if you didn't like the seat that they gave you. The waiter was great. He gave us some suggestions and we had a great time. The food was great. It felt like it wasn't a long wait at all. A surprise date night while we were using a Christmas present gift card from years ago. Everything was incredible!! DJ took great care of us, he walked us through his favorites while we were never rushed. We were full after an appetizer and salad and he was alright with that. We shared jambalaya and then decided to head straight to dessert, espresso martini and a chocolate martini and their warm butter cake!!! Went here on a surprise birthday dinner and I just had to post these pics because the oysters were amazing. I have tried various oysters from various places and these were by far one of my favorite. The ambiance is always great at Rays as you hear smooth and soothing live music but the fact that it over looks the Chattahoochee River with string lights lightening up the outdoors makes the experience even better. A wonderful dinner with colleagues. We went on line and found they had an opening at 6:30 for 6 so we took it and off we went. The food was excellent. If you like calamari please order the appetizer. Probably the best I ever had. Ray's has an excellent wine list. I had a glass of the Red Schooner. I found it to be excellent compliment to my meal. The filet was cooked as ordered. Everyone who has fish were very pleased. We ordered 4 family style sides between the 6 of us. Cheesy Truffle potatoes were very good. The corn side was AMAZING. The vegetables were also good....to sum it up there was not a thing the 6 of us were unhappy about. It's a bit pricey so ensure it's in your budget before going. This is one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved to ATL in 2009. For whatever reason I hadn't been since, that is until yesterday. I must come more often. The outdoor landscaping and patio looks completely different and they have really capitalized on the river front property. It's an absolute dream to sit by the window and get the relaxing view. It was pouring rain yesterday so we couldn't eat outside but I'll be back for that experience. I did notice you can buy cigars inside by the bar and they have a cigar outdoor area to smoke in. There was a 45 min wait so I encourage reservations. The restaurant is perfect for a weekend brunch or a weekday dinner. We visited on a Sunday around 2pm. Naturally, I ordered a Bloody Mary. This was an absolute deliciously made cocktail complete with bacon, olive and celery. It was well balanced and I had to refrain from ordering two. Had to save room for their impressive wine menu. There's a beautiful wine storage adjacent to the bar. Jessica was our bartender/server and did an amazing job taking care of hubby and I. We ordered the gumbo, Caesar salad and deviled eggs as appetizers. The salad left a bit to be desired but the gumbo and deviled eggs were delightful. I went with the surf and turf summer special as my entree. I'm not huge on breakfast foods so they offered the steak menu for me. The NY strip was super thick, medium cooked and juicy. It could've used a bit more salt but was satisfying. The blackened bbq shrimp atop was the show stopper. They were cajun style and full of flavor. I got an amazing cabernet called Tribute. It did not disappoint. Spouse loved his lump crab omelet. We shared a side of truffle frites. These were decent. For dessert, he got the Key lime pie- MANNNNN, was it delicious. It was almost whipped like and had the perfect graham cracker crust. I ordered the warm butter cake. This was equally awesome. It had a blueberry chutney sauce and ice cream on top. It didn't even need those additions. Both of these desserts were top tier. We purchased a cigar to go and wrapped this BIG brunch up with plenty of leftovers. We chose Ray's on the River for our anniversary dinner and were absolutely impressed. Got a quiet table for two in earshot of the live band that was playing in the bar area. Our servers were very attentive without being intrusive. Very nice atmosphere overall with a good view of the river and complimentary valet service! We started with the calamari, one of our favorite appetizers even though it usually disappoints in one way or another. Not here. It wasn't overly salty or rubbery and the breading had great seasoning. A few hot peppers thrown in the mix too for a little extra kick. My wife had the seafood platter entree... lobster tail, salmon, huge shrimp, perfect scallops and a great little crab cake. I had surf 'n turf, an incredible filet with lobster tail. The filet was so juicy and tender it was practically falling apart before I could chew it, and very well seasoned. Both of us had whipped potatoes that were unbelievably creamy and smooth. They let us take a little break between dinner and dessert to walk out along the river (not something I'd try if it were really busy, but it was a pretty relaxed night). They have a very nice open patio and clear access to the river, making a beautiful setting for the night. We finished with dessert, a chocolate cake with both regular and whipped ice cream. I've never had whipped ice cream before, it was very good! I had a "slice" (chunk maybe?) of key lime pie that did not disappoint either. Our dinner started out lovely, until we received the wrong order, drinks were forgotten, and then did not see a server for about 30-45 minutes after multiple attempts to get someones attention. It wasn't even busy at the time which makes it even more odd. There are many places that have better quality ($30-40 for a burnt piece of fish is wild). From the outside it looks beautiful, but it's definitely not worth it. So beyond disappointed. read more

Views are nice sitting out on the water. I believe the service is much better if your sitting in the dining area. The bar service is a completely different experience. They are not as attentive and on top of things. The food was ok. To be honest I have way better at less standard steakhouses. It was very nice of them to give us a complimentary dessert for my husbands birthday. They allowed him to choose whatever he wanted. Out of everything we ate, I HIGHLY recommend that you DON'T order the gumbo. It was not good at all. The food, the service and ambiance, all amazing hands down! I had a baby free night and wanted to go out with my friends. We ended up here, unplanned at 10 pm about 3 weeks ago and we've been back every week since. There is a dress code but depending on how under dressed you are, you may be able to sit at the bar (if your like me and only feel comfortable in a baseball cap, judge your momma, don't judge me). The kitchen stayed open fairly late for us so we took full advantage and ordered a 3 course meal. We started the wedge salad, steamed mussels, these delicious fried balls of cheese and oysters. My only reservation would be how small the oysters were. I love oysters in general so it won't stop me from ordering, but for $4-5 per oyster, I would prefer them a tad bit larger. Nonetheless, I ate them all up. Next we ordered the petite fillet mignon and ribeye. The mignon was cooked medium well and the ribeye was medium, both cooked to perfection. I added the side of pan seared scallops to my fillet and it was the perfect combination. If your feelings fancy, add one of the many sauces offered for your steak. For dessert we enjoyed the savory cake and ice cream (I can't recall the name but it's delicious!). My friend and I have been here on a weekly basis due to the great food, prompt service and delicious drinks. Also we can't forget Jess who works at the bar. She's amazing! We had reservations at 9:00pm and were not able to sit down till 10:20pm because they were soo busy. So, we started with oysters and drinks at the bar. Then, after a while we were provided a booth. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and pairings and came to check on us multiple times. I had the Mediterranean Branzino while my fiancé hsd the seafood platter. We also had to try the 10 year old Old Rip Van Winkle. (Yes, they have it here) Closed it off with a very yummy crème brûlée! We were pleasantly surprised when they comped our oysters platter and the dessert because of the wait. That's how you do great customer service! Went for lunch around 3pm with a party of two. The ambiance was nice and clean from the first impression. We were sat in the bar area with a view of the river. Our server was Jessica and she was very accommodating to my vegan needs. She was wonderful she went above and beyond and didn't pass any judgement that I was dining there given my diet. It was refreshing to have that treatment as a Cali girl living in the south. The food was delicious, I got a salad, sweet potato, mushrooms, and the bread cracker. My hubby and i love a good steak house! This is most definitely not the place! I ordered the NY Strip with Shrimp and my hubby ordered the ribeye with Parmesan fries and Brussel sprouts! We both eat our steaks medium.. When we both cut into our steaks the plate moved! Each of our steaks were tough!! Not one tender bite found! I get a more tender steak at the Mexican Restaurant! My husband took me here for Mother's Day dinner. We arrived and it was quite busy, however we only waited for about 10 minutes with our reservation. Our staff were really nice and knowledgeable. We immediately input our orders for our toddlers. Our food took about 35 minutes to arrive. I ordered the broiled seafood platter and it was tasteless. The salmon and scallops were undercooked. The salmon was still cold inside and very red. They took it off of my plate, added more time to the grill and gave it back to me. For a $65 platter, my expectations failed. On arrival, the view and service were phenomenal. Everything about this place had me excited to try the food and I was expecting a lot. We started the night off with Deviled Eggs, which were good but way too salty. I would give it a 4/10. Then we received the poached lobster Benedict, which one of the eggs was way over cooked and one was perfectly runny, The English muffin was somewhat soggy and the lobster was incredibly dry. But the redeeming quality of this dish was the hollandasie sauce. I would give this a 5/10. In regards to the Brisket plate, the meat was super tender and flavorful, but the potatoes were still EXTREMELY HARD they felt more like apples because it f the amount of crunchy hardness on them, the pickled onions were to die for extremely delicious, and the egg was ok. All round would give the brisket plate a 6.5/10. In regards to reviewing the whole place, the view is amazing, the service was phenomenal from the front staff, but the food at brunch time did leave somewhat fail to meet the expectations of what you would think the food would be at such a fancy looking place. We made reservations ahead of time for a Sunday brunch, so came in and was seated immediately by the big windows with a nice lake view. You will order from the dinner menu all day Sunday and parking is complimentary valet, so be sure to bring cash to tip! We started with the calamari and shrimp appetizer which came with peppers/jalepenos, a red tomato sauce and a creamier sauce. This app was fantastic! Crispy, the added peppers and jalepenos added great flavor, and both sauces were delicious! Can't go wrong with this one. They even wrapped a lemon to squeeze over your fried seafood to prevent the lemon seeds from coming out, loved that! Next, our entrees were: - Sea Bass in a red sauce - Honey Glazed Cedar Plank Salmon - Shrimp & Grits - Steak & Shrimps - w/ a side of Whipped Potatoes to share We all LOVED our dishes! Everyone ate everything except my fiancé couldn't finish his steak and ended up packing half of it to-go, which could suffice for a meal in itself! The seasoning/spices used on his dish were a Cajun spice -- really good! The shrimp and grits, while it didn't look like it would fill me up, I certainly was almost too full to finish it. Granted we enjoyed an appetizer ahead of our meals so that helped. Also note that this is a soupy shrimp and grits drowned in a beef broth. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it, but it turned out to be just right and complimentary of the grits and jumbo shrimp. Request a spoon with it, you'll thank me later ;) Lastly, we ordered a few creme brûlée for the table that were topped with strawberries and blueberries -- YUM!!! Really well done!!
