I went to Rays in midtown Saturday afternoon. The service was mediocre. The waitress who attempted a save for the chicken being served raw, explained that's why she eats the boneless due to the veins and blood w/the bone in and went on to further say they were 2x fried.... NOT. However, the customer service experience as a whole could use an over haul. There was zero compensation, no apologies, just the bill. While many enjoy raw meat, I'll pass on this place as long as it's up and running. Definitely not the best wings in town. I shouldn't have paid. If this is as simple as the cook on duty, maybe someone needs to go back to culinary school. read more

Very disappointing I heard great things about Rays so tonight on Sunday we decided to jump in the car drive across town and try the wings. Placed our order to go and ordered 2 bloody marys while we waited the bloody marys were pretty good I think they may use zing zang mix. We get the order home as we order 2 orders of 10 medium and 10 hot and I got 20 x hot an order of stuffed nachos and an onion ring. I'm $77 dollars in now not icluding the tip i left the waiter so we open the order my 20 wings are only 10 and none had celery. So I call back and a guy named Phil answers I explain I ordered 20 and only got 10 and no celery he said we don't put it in to go orders because it gets soggy. [Really] he says hold on then another guy gets on the phone and says how can I help you I start to explain all over again and the guy starts over talking me and seemed like I was an inconvenience and says what do you want me to do um nothing other than to give me the wings I paid for and try being polite would be nice. If your gonna be in customer service ya may want to learn to be professional and polite and learn that people that spend money to help keep your business open may not return and tell others about their experience. So I drive all the way back to get my order and I tell the guy behind the bar I'm there to pick up my order he asks what names it's under and I told him they didn't ask for a name. The waiter that originally took my order came over and asked why I was back I explained to him and he was very apologetic and really seemed to feel bad I told him hey it's not your fault in fact he is the reason I didn't leave a 1 star review. The wings were lack luster at best my 1 x wings were not even Spicy the bloody mary was hotter, the kids rated the wings as bad as buffalo wild wings. I will not return. I wanted to chock this up to them having a bad night but being treated like I was a bother for asking for wings I paid for having to drive back a second time and the food being not very good I just can't do it. The food was okay, but nothing particularly special. However, the problem came when it came time to pay. One member of my group had trouble getting the itemized bill for his orders, paying with his credit card. A gratuity of 18% was included on the check, which wouldn't have been known had the itemized bill not been received. The menu did not indicate any level at which gratuity would be automatically charged. Then, on the credit card statement, the recommended tips shown at 10%, 15%, and 20% were all the values based on the total amount charged, including the taxes and the automatically included gratuity. Good buffalo sauce, mild sauce doesn't have any heat, but good flavor. Medium has a good kick if you want a little heat.

We had such an amazing experience here! The service was excellent. Someone actually opened the doors for us, not something I would have expected at a wing place. We went with a very large group which can be overwhelming for the staff but not here! Our servers were more than accommodating. The food itself was amazing. I regret not ordering the tequiladilla for an appetizer as it was a huge hit with everyone that did have it. My husband had a few different flavors of wings - hot Buffalo, bourbon Sriracha, tequila lime, and garlic parm. All of the sauces were so good! My favorite was the bourbon Sriracha, it almost had a sweet honey taste but with a kick. My husband liked all of them as well but his favorites were the garlic parm and tequila lime. The fries were crispy and delicious. I would recommend the curly fries over the house cut, just a personal preference I think the flavor is better. I had the chicken "fingers" which had the most perfect crispy breading. I am really blown away at how great the service was, maybe the best in Omaha. We will definitely be back! read more

I've been a long time fan of Rays. I had a single negative experience the night of the Mayweather McGregger fight. The wings were way below the standards I expect from Rays. I gotta explain the star rating. The area of town is sketchy enough for what happened tonight to be a common occurrence. A fiat fight broke out between the OWNER and a patron. The bill was in dispute. The cops got called. I was there with my girlfriend and my 1 year old. We were next to the verbal and physical assault and our server was out for a long break. It took 50 minutes to order 6 Wings another 45 minutes to get those wings and then we promptly left $45 later having the most awful experience 2 drinks and 6 Wings later. There are about 30 steps up to the building from the parking lot and you have to pay for a meter between 9am-9pm even on Saturday. I'll go anywhere else next time I'm cravings wings and beer. At least I won't be afraid of guns being drawn at Buffalo Wild Wings when I'm out with my one year old son. read more

These are some fantastic wings. They recently added a Caribbean jerk sauce which I highly recommend. The fried bologna ala Rhonda is a must as well as the deep fried bacon wrapped hot dog. As a person who cooks professionally, it was nice to talk with Ray. There's a look I also have when feeding people that I saw in his eyes. You can genuinely tell he's happy you're happy with his food. I used to work at The Lemon Drop years ago before there was a kitchen, and I don't know if I should be happy or sad about that! Our good friend brought us here to try some wings that he has anxiously been chasing since 1999 when they closed. Recently re-opened in the kitchen at the Lemon Drop bar in S Omaha. Ordered the x tra hot wings which were true to form. Also tried hot which were perfect temp, spicy but not overwhelming, and mild which had a really pleasant tangy taste. Sauce is definitely homemade and wings were high quality chicken. Onion rings were great too. Will def be back. Ill start by saying how when this place was in the back of the lemon drop we were there a couple times a month. Best wing id ever had was Rays. I brought every out of town friend or family member that visited to rays for wings. When news came they were moving i was not excited. Last week wife and I had a craving so we crossed our fingers and headed to midtown. The nightmare begins by paying to park. Once inside we were meet with a revised menu. No more large soaked wings. Now its bw3 size and kinda sauced. Worst part was they dont even taste the same. Im embarrassed to take anyone there now. Could always live with all the uptown change but not a different product. Imagine walking into a restaurant seeing TVs everywhere and smelling freshly fried wings and fries. That's what everyone wants out of a quality wing restaurant and it's what my friends and I experienced when we went to Ray's Original Buffalo Wings. When you first arrive, you will most likely need to find the parking structure and walk the minute it takes to get to Ray's. The parking garage is free to use as long as you get your ticket validated. When you walk from the garage to the restaurant you will be able to see everything that Midtown Crossing (where Ray's is located) has to offer, which is one of the nicest areas I have been to in Omaha. As you walk into the restaurant you notice the large patio for outdoor dining. When you go inside you notice that they have TVs everywhere and it is self-seating so you can choose where you want to sit in order to watch the game that you want. After we sat down, we were greeted quickly with menus. Ray's offers​ a variety of options of appetizers, three different types of wings, sandwiches, and sides. If you order wings you choose from traditional (bone-in), boneless (and not just your typical boneless chicken breaded nugget type wing but actually what seemed like meat from the wing that has been stripped from the bone and fried), and then lastly chicken tenders (their version of the classic boneless wings). Along with the three types of wings, Ray's offers an abundance in choices for sauces and they display them on a scale to show the different levels of heat. I ordered their sweet chili sauce on traditional wings. Our waitress was very kind and added to the friendly atmosphere. She was very attentive and kept our waters full at all times. Our wings came out hot and fresh, just as one would want. My wings were cooked perfectly as the skin was golden brown and had a great crisp when you bit into it. What makes it even better is that the meat was tender and juicy which is hard to do with a crispy skin. The sweet chili sauce was good and had a nice flavor but probably not something I would order again. It's nothing against the sauce but I love spicy food and I was hoping for more heat. This is not a knock on their wings because they were very good, and I look forward to going back to try something that will burn a little more. Overall the experience was good, and it was a fun meal with the guys. There were a few cons such as the price (a tad expensive for wings), you can only order either 10 or 20 wings (no in-between) and can only choose one sauce per order. It was a blustery Saturday evening: college gameday in America was in full swing, and millions of Americans had undoubtedly flocked to sports bars for some wings (and beer, if you're of age). My friends and I shared that innate American desire for wings and football, so we decided to visit Ray's Original Buffalo Wings in Omaha, Nebraska. Ray's is tucked in this beautiful little area west of downtown Omaha among an exquisite Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and a myriad of shops and restaurants. Upon entering the restaurant, we discovered that Ray's was like many other sports bars: it had dark walls, plenty of televisions, and remnants of old meals scattered across the tables. It was a little warm, but since it was rather frigid outside, we appreciated the heat. Our server was very kind. She waited on us immediately, although it wasn't very busy anyway (which probably should have concerned us since Nebraska was playing Indiana). She told us a funny story about some linebackers that had come in the other day and had eaten around 30 wings apiece. She always made sure we were enjoying ourselves and refilled our waters several times. The service was definitely the highlight of the night. I ordered the boneless wings with mild buffalo sauce. Although the service was stellar, my food was not. The boneless wings were tough, and the chef must have known this as he smothered them in sauce. But this "mild buffalo" did not moisten the meat, and it only made the matter worse. Several of my wings were completely submerged in the sauce, so much so that I could not eat the ones at the bottom of the basket. The sauce itself was not even buffalo. It had more of a sweet, tangy taste; I usually find mild buffalo sauces to have the perfect amount of heat, but this one had none, and I mean NONE. They were not crispy like most boneless wings. It was like eating sweet grilled chicken. Dissatisfied with my own food, I decided to try a few of my friend's wings. He had ordered traditional bone-in wings with medium buffalo sauce. These were much better - the meat was moist, the sauce had the perfect amount of kick, and they were actually crispy. I may have just made the wrong choice when ordering, as my friend's wings were savory and delicious. But, if I ever return, I certainly know what I will not be ordering. The food is fairly priced (about $1 per wing), but in my own opinion, there are much better places to go. I would rather go to Buffalo Wild Wings any day of the week than go to Ray's. Buffalo Wild Wings just has that sense of familiarity and reliability that comes with a large restaurant chain that Ray's does not. And if you're craving boneless wings, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

Searched this place out to watch football. It's a neighborhood bar in front and wing kitchen in back. It's weird that no one tells you to walk the hall to the back to order and pay for wings. We figured it out. You can get wings in multiples of 6. I got 12 because I didn't think 6 was enough. 9 would be just right. I ordered XX hot BBQ and they came out hot (temp and flavor). The service was horrible at Ray's. The food took over an hour to get to us. The appetizer plates were nasty. They were scattered with the remains of food and looked poorly washed. On top of that, during the duration of our long meal, the table next to us was covered in disgusting chicken bones and used napkins and was not removed until we requested that it would be removed. The food was not horrible, but it was not great. The curly q fries and hand cut fries were quite good, but unfortunately the onion rings were not up to par. They were small and looked to be frozen and not fresh made. The wings were pretty bad as well, as they were not breaded at all. Instead they were just boiled pieces of chicken breast, dripping with way too much sauce. If I could I would give it a 2.5 star review, but it leans closer to 2 than 3. read more

Upon ordering dinner, the couples divided up and made it very clear who was on separate tickets... Later in the night, our waitress asked twice who was with who. Of the 8 meals at the table, both sandwiches were cold, and the fries, and two orders of wings were cold. When we brought this to her attention, nothing was done. Fantastic service! You order in the back.. Had no idea bc it was the first time my gf, buddy, and I had been there. The guy working came up to us and nicely informed us you order from the window in the back. Food was phenomenal - wings were big and full of flavor. Chicken finger sandwich was killer. Homemade ranch makes your mouth water - really creamy. Buddy who built the kitchen w his dad went to hs with me and even hooked us up w free fries (which were also great). We were big fans of the old location down in the Lemon Drop. The move is great since now they have tons more space and expanded the menu. They now have a char option for the original wings. They are the best char buff I have had anywhere in town. My huband got the new Bourbon Sriracha sauce and it was fantastic. They still have fresh cut french fries. We forgot to get the onion rings this time but will be back for those next time. Highly recommend this place if you are a wing lover! read more

Every time we have gone to pick up our order, the bartender and wait staff completely ignore us. This hasn't just been during times they were busy, but anytime we order to go. Wow. Rays was so much better in the lemon drop. You can definitely tell its new people cooking. My waitress was more concerned w her phone. And coworkers near her. Was really pissed when waitress. Shorted my coin change & just kept it. When i asked was told and i qoute. Oh it was only 40 cents no big deal sir. You're right it was only 40 cents. But i leave bigger tips than that at respectful businesses. If this is how rays is stating. I sure hope he has a chance to return to the lemon drop. Got nothing but respect for him personally. First time coming here and man was I disappointed. I got the single wings with Caribbean jerk sauce (hot). Black pepper has more kick then this sauce. I also got the mozz sticks for 6.99. Man was I disappointed that poor excuse for an appetizer. $7 for 6 mozz sticks, like wtf?!?! I thought it was a joke. And the my marinara sauce was still in it packaging and it was cold. Could not believe they justified charging $7 for mozzarella sticks. The only redeeming thing in there was its fresh cut fries. They were hot and crispy.
