I think midtown crossing is cursed. I felt like I was at a college bar with sub par wings, fries mushrooms and cheese curds. I drank a PBR and ate it. It was fine. Not good not bad. Definitely not good for you. The thing that stuck out to me the most was the 20 something staff giving horrible service to everyone. There were two ladies and a child seated in front of me, they ordered way ahead of me and my date got served ahead. The poor kid about 3 years of age was starving and it took another 15 minutes at least to get their food. Service lacked, food lacked. Not off to a great start. Also talked to the manager about the family in front of me and their service. She told me to talk to the owner. The owner flat out told me he just went to talk to that family. Midtown Crossing's location is perfect for Ray's OG Wings- a restaurant with humble beginnings in LaVista and South O. I personally think that this location and amount of space is the recipe for success for this family run operation. Mutual of Omaha (owns MC Crossing) has made some interesting choices in tenants since they opened in 2010. All corporate chain restaurants, which are probably the only ones that could afford their rent (just a hypothesis). Now, with Della Costa, Proof, and Ray's; all local family businesses- they are broadening their scope of what could work in this space. I for one, am all for it. Support these local families and the people will come. Service will hopefully be better. Food quality will be consistent. They will stay! (instead of a new thing opening every couple of years). The food at Ray's has not changed as they have moved 7 miles north of their previous location. Still dang good wings with the same endless options of sauces, The original and buffalo is a family favorite for us, but we also enjoyed a new one we tried this week which was Sirracha Buffalo. They offer a "wing buffett" during the week at lunch and put all the sauces on the table for you to try. This is a MUST try. Friendly staff and owners, which I chatted with at my last visit. Also my favorite onion rings in Omaha, light, not greasy, and hardly any batter. Happy this local family business found a good spot in MTC. The service was fine till I was prompted to give feedback about the food. Manager asked me how was the pizza. He got offended and rude when I said that the fries were awesome but the pizza I would not do again because it's burned and needs more flavor in the marinara. His reply was "it's cooked that way to be Buffalo style. In buffalo it's cooked with a slight char. this is the first bad review I've ever had for my pizza. Everyone one else gives rave reviews. Sorry" and quickly went on his way without asking how to improve or offer anything to comp. and not the apologetic kind of "sorry." Ray's has my favorite wings in town, full stop. They're always large and juicy, especially compared to some of the chain restaurants in town. While I can't speak to their other flavors, their buffalo sauce is great, and the only sauce in town that delivers on its advertised level of spice. I haven't had the courage to work up to the challenge heat yet, but the XXX hot is always where I want it to be. They're made even better when you get them char buffed, which adds extra depth to the flavor. Additionally, they make their own dipping sauces (I prefer the bleu cheese). The only negative experience I've had was some friends who aren't into spicy or buffalo sauce on their wings were unable to get theirs char buffed, because they only do that for the buffalo sauces. read more

I'm giving this place 4 stars just because of their pizza! We ordered the Combo and it was awesome. The ingredients were very fresh, the sauce was tasty and the crust was good. They were extremely short staffed (not a surprise now n days) but the way the staff was "greeting" guest was disappointing. Advising people, "there's only two of us, someone called in, pick a table." I get it. Everyone, everywhere is short staffed but that's not the way to go about it. My husband ordered the Big Mike Burger and it was extremely over cooked. Even the bacon was burnt. Ended up taking the burger patty home for the dogs. Of course refills were hard to come by. Had to ask for silverware and plates because they weren't brought with our appetizers. Again, I understand being short staffed but check on your tables. Our waitress left us second guessing about going back. She was super quick about picking up the cash tips but couldn't get us ketchup. We might do an order pick up for pizza. read more

The consensus was that while nothing was bad, nothing really stood out either. The food sent out of this place has gone consistently downhill. Since their days sending food out of the Lemondrop bar I have been a customer. The wings offered now are extremely low quality then cooked poorly and then coated with extremely average sauces. The price point should put their quality to a spot they have not reached in years. The first time i came to Rays it was good, but after what happened last night I don't think I'll be returning unless they make some changes. A series of events as follows: 1. Only takeout was available due to a private event inside. 2. It was $1 wing night and it still said 10 wings were $13.99 online. 3. There were options to order "wet" or "charred" for $1. We assumed this meant one "wet" or "charred" wing for $1. It doesn't say what "wet" or "charred" means. 4. After ordering 13 "wet" and fries (and paying $17) we waited ~50 minutes. 20 minutes pass the estimated finish time and our food still wasn't ready yet, so we went inside to check on it. 5. A short guy with glasses informed us "we didn't make your food because we didn't know what you were trying to order" I explained we thought that "wet" meant a wet wing. He replied "we would make them for you now but its 9pm and our grill is closed". They didn't even offer us a refund until we asked. 6.Basically they took our money and didn't make us anything, not even the fries. They could've at least called us to clarify the order since they were obviously confused. 7.Please fix the menu online so it's more clear and update it for your specials. 8.Although we were super excited for wings and our bubbles were bursted completely, we we went to Chipotle where they proceeded to make the fattest burritos i've ever seen :) (The one on Dodge and Saddle Creek). read more

HORRIBLE 1st time! We sat down and was told by the manager that they were down 1 server so to expect a wait. Drinks came immediately, but the food was a different story. There was a couple next to 7s (ordered after we did) who ordered wings and fries got their food within 15 minutes. The table across came in at least 10 minutes later ordered mozzarella sticks, wings, and a pizza. After about 15 minutes their server approached them with a basket of mozzarella sticks explaining she knew they had been sitting awhile. After 10 minutes later, our server explained the pizza took a little longer so we should expect our meal soon. Within minutes the table across from us receive their large pizza and basket of wings. We still hadn't received hours so ask if we could at least have our wings. He obliged only to have the order incorrect. The kitchen manager approached our table and ask if she could remake the pizza to go because it was half done when brought to our table. They remade the wings with so much sauce that at leaked onto the table. I'm sad for this was my first time here. I've heard about Ray's wings for quite a while and it's pretty well-known in the 'wings' circles here in Omaha. I went with some coworkers, one who went to school with Ray, last week. I got 6 traditional, medium BBQ wings. They were good, but nothing mind blowing. They were crispy, meaty, and the homemade sauce was pretty good. I had a couple fries from my co-workers order and they were pretty good. The wings were a tad pricey at over $1 a piece. The service is definitely top notch with Ray, his son, and the bartender all being super nice and accommodating. The decor takes a page from a dive-bar; a lot of off the wall decorations, but all with a charm. Overall, the wings were good, but nothing super special about them for being over $1 a piece. We tried the wings for lunch and the waitress raves about the sauces. She encouraged us to order the wings cooked to order rather than the buffet; she said the sauce was better that way. The sauces were certainly exotic, something Thai, tequila lime, but we did the double dip buffalo instead. Recommendation was buffalo medium and that was not spicy at all. My husband and I stopped in to get a drink and some appetizers on a weekday afternoon. We sat at the bar and were served by two bartenders, both of whom were friendly and attentive. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. For appetizers, we decided to split the Jalapeno Corn Nuggets and 6 medium charbuffed wings. The corn nuggets were my favorite. They are breaded and fried and the filling has corn, cheese, and jalapenos. They are served with honey for dipping. They were really good and I would definitely recommend these. The wings were also really good. They were good-sized and the sauce was good, as well. My only complaint is that the sauces (ranch and honey) were served in pre-packaged containers, much like you would get at a fast food place. The food, drinks, and service here are good and it is reasonably priced. I would recommend it. read more

Let me start off by saying I enjoyed Rays and I want this place to make it. In the revolving door of midtown crossing eateries , I am optimistic that rays can survive and cement itself as one of Omaha's best sports bars and a wing connoisseur destination. Our group of seven enjoyed a nice high top table with excellent views of the many large flat screen televisions. Our server was attentive and beer orders came quickly. No Miller lite on draft was a bummer but they do have 16 oz aluminum cans for a reasonable 4 dollars. I enjoy spicy wings and I asked for 5 of the spiciest wings or the "challenge flavor". Unfortunately one cannot order only five of one sauce. You have to order a minimum of ten per sauce flavor. I think this is an antiquated way of ordering and theorize it will hinder business . At Buffalo Wild Wings you can mix and match sauces fluidly, allowing one to find exactly what they enjoy and likely increasing the chance of return business. Ray's rigid one sauce system is a major flaw in the wing ordering system. Thus, I got ten of the "challenge level" sauce and ten of the char buffed buffalo. We also got onion rings and house made potato chips. Fries come as a side to wings for an affordable 2 dollars. The rings were average. The chips were hot and tasty. The fries were a surprise and complemented wings well. I was disappointed in the spiciness of the challenge level. They did not have that truly intense spice that makes you sweat. I also was disappointed at the sauce level. I requested the wings come "extra wet" and I still had to ask for a side of sauce because they were dry. Nevertheless, the wings were very solid. The char buffed buffalo reminded me of oscars. The menu was notable for some tapped off options and "under construction" signs. I'm a fan of Rays but hope they reconsider their stringent sauce policy and increase the spiciness level of their hottest wings. It's a good sports bar with plenty of space, above average food, and great service. It that has the potential to be great. Will be back next time I'm in town to see if they have made any modifications. read more

Surprisingly decent sized wing/bar place once you get in! Take note of how many TVs this place has.. never a bad seat in the house with this place, counted maybe 15 TVs in their main area lol. Wings aren't bad (Hot flavor) as well as their spicy corn jalapeño poppers (recommended to us by the bartender). Basically if spice is what you're looking for, you came to the right place. Every time I go to Rays, it does not disappoint. We went in and it was pretty busy. There's 6 of us and we understand how things slow down when it's busy so we just talked about the day. We received our food in a decent time and then one of my sons said his food was warm not hot. The next time the waiter came by, we asked for it to be warmed up and explained we understood it was busy and had no issue with it. They made a new plate super quick and then apologized for it not being as hot as we liked. The staff then gave us 2 orders of apple pie bites on the house and took off the cost of the plate. Ordered 10 wings in their original buffalo style X hot sauce and for someone who loves spicy, it hit the spot. I tried my friend's BBQ wings in their special "charred" style and it was alright. I don't think it justifies for being $1 more as it was kinda dry and the burnt taste lingered. I also ordered their house cut fries and oh man, I cleaned my plate off, and helped my friend with his too! I also tried some of my friend's sweet potato waffle fries and it was so tasty! They come with a dollop of honey butter and that was a game changer. Our waitress checked up on us regularly to ask how things were going and for water refills which is always nice when you don't have to flag one down. The new Ray's has the typical sports bar ambiance going, with a pool table to the side and at least 10 LCD's running across behind the bar area. Tried out this place for date night this weekend and do not recommend. The service was good but the food is absolutely horrible. Mozzarella sticks were cold (cheese not even melted) both orders of wings were so dry it was like chewing beef jerky. The dry rub wings with lemon pepper were literally so extremely salty that it made my face pucker and it was just flat out hard to swallow. It was like every employee in the business lined up in the kitchen with a salt shaker and just went to town. $52 completely wasted. We threw the food away and made dinner at home. read more

Wow, if you want some of the best Buffalo wings in town, Ray's is the place. First off, it's located inside the Lemon Drop Bar -- two separate but equal businesses sharing the same space. Naturally, Ray's serves as the kitchen and Lemon Drop serves as the bar/dining room. Anyway, you head to the back and place an order with Ray himself. I highly recommend sticking to the traditional sauces -- either mild or hot -- and experience the reason why chicken drumettes and wingettes are currently one of the most popular foods in America. I ordered six mild wings and, needless to say, they are now the wings I will judge all others against. Who needs fancy Asian fusion sauce this and char-buff that, anyway? Wings aside, I also tried the fried bologna sandwich. It's pretty much exactly what it sounds like -- a thick cut of bologna topped with cheese and other fixings fried up between two slices of bread. It's greasy, decadent and good. Not something I'd order every time (need more room for wings!), but I have no regrets. Ray's has great wings -- possibly the best in town -- and more. I went here on the recommendation of Yelp community manager Will S. Will is of the opinion that Ray's has some of the best wings in Omaha. While I have only two comps - unlike Will's massive database - I must agree. Ray's wings are good but I rank Buffalo Wings and Rings higher. BWR has more variety and you get more celery. Only one stick at Ray's. Lots of celery turns out to be quite important for the whole wings experience. The real loser here is Buffalo Wild Wings as it is a poor third. See my review on that place. While Rays is good I don't think I would drive there when BWR is closer and the ambiance is better. read more
