    Pizza by the Slice

Ray's Pizza can be found in the Sonora Village. As I walked into this business, the first thing you see is all the pizza slices available. They all looked good, especially when you're hungry. I decided on the pesto pizza slice. Staff heated the slice in their large oven. The slice was hot and delicious. Very cheesy with a good amount of pesto on it. Great flavor. Shared parking lot and Wi-Fi available in the store.

Literally my favorite New York pizza place. Straight from NYC, they expanded to Scottsdale and kept the same fundamentals that made them a staple back East. This is a New York slice!! Large, thin crust, with that NYC grease, combined with fresh ingredients result in the finest pizza around. Family owned and operated, it's so comforting to hear that East Coast accent, in the dessert. True to a pizzeria the interior is nostalgic. Don't sleep on the antipasto salad. Big and super fresh vegetables. Ray's hits the mark on every level!!

It's been a while since I visited a Ray's Pizza. And, will be a while until I return. First the positive - you get two large slices, one topping, and a drink for less than $12. A decent deal. Food was served fast and the counter crew was friendly. However, the pizza was essentially tasteless. It was smothered in mushrooms and a good dose of cheese. But, the crust and sauce had no flavor. I had already added garlic salt and parmesan cheese. I then did something I have never done before - added salt to my pizza. Not great and won't be coming back anytime soon.

I swear I've left a review for this place. I have been coming here for 14 years. I don't get up here as often as I'd like but it's always a treat when I come in. Pizza by the slice, always a good selection when I come in. Very homey. They have rc and hires root beer. I'd call the service very authentic and I've never had a bad slice of pizza.

Referred by a coworker who's from NY. The place was very NY vibe with great decor and tvs. Had two slices, half and half pizza and garlic knots Walk in and the folks up front were very fun with accents and speaking what sounded like italian. They wouldn't recommend any slice or tell me their favorite, which i thought was odd. Wish they would have cuz i missed on the two individual slices. White pizza slice was not my cup of tea, but the crust was a mazing. 3 out of 5 stars Spinach and tomoato slice was disappointing. The crust was amazing except for the first two bites that were very soggy. Like the tomato and spinach has released a lot of moisture. That was a rough start. 2 out of 5 stars. Half monster pizza (combo). They loaded the toppings. Probably should have requested light on the mushrooms. Crust was amazingly crunchy and did not flop even with all the weight. 4.5 out of 5. Half pepperoni pizza. Spicy and tasty. About what you expect from a a pep slice, but the crust was sooo good like the monster half. Wife and son both really liked it..5 out of 5. Garlic knots were flavorful with a tiny crunch but airy and soft on the inside. 4.5 out of 5 stars. When we are in the area, this will likely be our go to pizza place. Very interested in trying other slices.

I pick up slices from here on the regular now. For family members and myself. I have become the Ray s delivery person for them.the crust is amazing. Crispy. The topping are great especially anchovies. They are not cheap with them either. So I don't understand the 3.2 rating at this moment. The pizza is definitely a 5. The older lady and young lady are a delight to deal with. However another person not so much so maybe a ratings drop because of it.

Today, I called to confirm we were signed up for the Father's Day "Special" which was offered with pizza, and if we could order a 2nd bottle of this "special" wine, in advance. I was very rudely told by the manager, their online reservations were turned off, and there was no reservation for us. He then said, I should have known that they weren't accepting reservations, especially if I didn't receive a confirmation! It was offensive as I make a number of online & phone reservations, without getting a confirmation, and have never had a problem. Why should the customer assume that your reservations are turned off? There are a number of ways this manager could have resolved the situation, but he chose to blame the customer, which especially under these circumstances, (& in the restaurant business) is never okay. Never-the-less, there are so many pizza/Italian restaurants to pick from, we will be patronizing them from now on.

The chicken was juicy and tender, lasagna was creamy but not too greasy, the rigatoni was full of flavors (spicy, lemony, and fragrant), and the fried seafood had a light batter. Not to mention the tiramisu - you could feel the coffee and mascarpone melted in your mouth immediately. I would say since this is a global chain, their Italian food is globalized in a way that some Italian tastes are gone. But still , you can tell the food is high quality and the chef put efforts in it. We also liked the Italian vibe in the restaurant - really bright and inviting. I have maintained that the best pie experience I've ever had in America or Italy was once at BIANCO with a celebrity friend who the kitchen adored. That pie was amazing. And my next dozen favorites were IL Bosco. I have tried pizza all over the world (surprisingly good Napoli-style in Sydney AU), and lots in NYC, all over Jersey, Hartford, Detroit, Chicago, LA and San Francisco. I just found IL Bosco's most consistent. Well, last night IL Bosco was FIRE, and changed everything. My friends and I went simple this time...just salad and pies. They were impressed by the dressing on the Kale salad, and the flavorful pancetta. But the pies!!! We wanted extremes...that would complement each other so we went with the white Alba, with caramelized onion, sautéed mushrooms and a honey drizzle. The slightly salty cheese was a beautiful palate cleanser from the other amazing pie...the ZA! With Hatch Green Chili, Pepperoni, Peppadew peppers, red sauce and cheese with hot honey...it was the opposite on the red pie/white pie spectrum. And they were cooked beautifully. A just-right hint of char, beautifully light and flavorful crust and flavors that hit you individually rather than as a mess, they combined careful execution with intense and wonderful flavors. That moved into my #1 slot! And, instead of wine, we all had a Menabrea beer, one of my favorite Italian brews. The hops and subtle citrus and caramel notes worked beautifully to show off the pies. Absolutely amazing evening sampling the pinnacle of pizza.
