We had an amazing lunch! My family and I celebrated our son and we were extremely impressed. The food was incredible, the drinks were delicious, we ordered the watermelon margaritas and they were so refreshing and had a good kick! The lobster ravioli was so delicious! My son and I were heading to Butters but there was such a long wait and it was already close to lunch so we decided to check out Crust. We were on the early side of lunch (around 11am) and we were able to get seated immediately. It was a beautiful day and we sat out on the patio. I immediately ordered a Rose to go with the lovely day and my son had a coke. The server was very attentive and was there shortly to take our food order. My son got a pizza that was shaped like a wine bottle, LOL and I got a salad and some bruschetta. My son gobbled the pizza down so quickly -- not sure if he tasted it but it looked cute. The bruschetta was ok -- I really liked the toppings but the bread just wasn't toasted enough. I actually took three pieces home and put in my air fryer later and they were really good -- too bad they didn't cook them enough. The salad was yummy but nothing too notable. Some of the worst service I've ever seen. We had a large party and they weren't very accommodating from the start. The waitress(not sue her name, an older blond lady) name has to be Karen, had an attitude from the start, condescending and uncooperative. She got several orders wrong and even handed me a piping hot dish in my bare hand while holding it with a cloth and saying it's "just a bit warm". I had to drop it immediately She kept going back and conferring with an older guy with a 1980's mustache who was seated at the bar. Not sure what their problem was but we've never felt so disrespected at a restaurant, we've been here many times but can honestly say we'll never be back. I first visited Crust back in 2008 at their old Hayden and Indian Bend location, and it quickly became a staple for me and my BFF. Life changed, visits slowed, and until recently I hadn't been back in almost a decade. We finally stopped by their current Hayden and Via De Ventura spot (new to me, though they've been there nearly eight years), and I can't believe I've been sleeping on Crust this whole time. It's ideal for families: big, bright, and lively! The menu truly has something for everyone, prices are reasonable, and we caught the tail end of happy hour so we tried several appetizers. The mozzarella was so good we ordered more, the garlic knots were possibly the best I've had with tons of garlic, parm, and butter, and the bruschetta offered a fun mix of flavors on perfectly crusty bread. My husband practically licked the spaghetti sauce clean, and my kids actually ate a huge personal pizza (wine-bottle shaped!) and chicken tenders with better-than-average fries. We also split a pizza: half Supreme and half Lil Roni. I loved the Supreme, and while the Lil Roni could've used more spice and honey, our server brought extra honey, which did the trick. The crust leans sweet, and overall the pizza was really good. We ordered so much food this time that we didn't even make it to the truffle fries or short rib, which just gives me another reason to go back. For dessert, we shared tiramisu and butter cake, while the kids' meals came with mini ice cream sundaes. The butter cake was the kids' favorite (and server-recommended), but I preferred the rich, creamy, perfectly balanced tiramisu. Last but not least, the food and ambiance alone would have been four-star, but I have to shout out our server, Reagan. She was attentive, listened to everyone's questions, made thoughtful recommendations, even offering to check with the bartender when I asked about wine, and was incredibly patient with our group of six. The host stand has small kids' toys, and she brought my wiggly youngest three different handheld games throughout the meal. I genuinely don't think we've had such an easy and successful sit-down restaurant experience in a long time. Let me begin at the end: A++. This is my first "perfect review". We were greeted at the door by a kind and professional manager and seated promptly at the table I told my daughter quietly we should get. Boom. Then, we were served by one of the nicest, most professional, responsive and gentle servers (her name is Rachel) I have ever experienced. She took our orders, then, one at a time, confirmed each order with each detail and request. Bingo. Rachel times our drinks, courses and experience like a symphony conductor in rhythm. After she left we waited a bit and when my granddaughter became fussy waiting my daughter (not her mother) said: that's okay, our food will be here in 7 minutes. When I heard that I asked why? She said, just a hunch as the place was well run. It took 10 minutes! The food came out, plated perfectly, presented then placed one at a time, by Rachel, asking how it looked, and then she retreated with a "bon Appetit", returning at well timed intervals to check on us, refresh our waters and my Diet Coke. At the end of the meal she asked about dessert, we were stuffed, so no. Then presented the check. The entire experience was without pretense, never rushed, and we were treated as if we were the only ones in the place. (It was early dinner, so no we were not. I do not say this often, but if you are within a 40 mile radius, go. Do not hesitate, it is worth the drive. Oh, did I say that the bread (crust, rolls, and sliced) was the perfect consistency? We came here on a weekday in June for an early Father's Day dinner and had our dog with us so we requested to be seated on the patio. We were the only party out there and the server asked us if we wanted to the misters on, and we said yes. About 5-10 min later 2 more parties are seated on the patio, one table of 2 and a larger table of maybe 7 or so women and children. The larger party had a different server, a male with black hair in a pony tail. They asked him to turn off the misters and we specifically heard them ask him "will any of the other tables want the misters on?". A few minutes later the misters were turned off. Their server didn't come to ask either our party or the other party of 2 if we preferred to keep the misters on, he just shut them down. We asked our server about them being turned off and she said "sorry the other party asked for them to be turned off". So it seems the servers were in communication and decided to honor their request to turn them off instead of sitting them elsewhere away from the misters or even sitting them inside. We couldn't move inside because we had our dog with us. Our server was just apologetic but didn't offer any solutions or seem to really care. We didn't want to make a big fuss and I had a small toddler with me who was getting hot so we just cut our dinner short and left early. It really felt like they prioritized the larger group which I felt is unfair. We were seated first and if it's a choice of your customers being too hot vs dealing with misters, I'd rather not let them be uncomfortably hot. They also didn't seem to care enough to think of any solutions. The food was fine and the rest of our experience with our server was fine, but this really bothered me and I can only imagine reasons why they were prioritized over us. We had a great experience at Crust in Gilbert and figured we'd stop here since we were in the area but we will never come to this location again. read more

We enjoyed our recent visit to Crust. The restaurant the spacious with lots of tables, would be good for groups. We were seated right away on a Sunday night and our service was great. We tried bruschetta and it was delicious. Each one was very tasty and the bread was softer/fluffy which I enjoyed. Dolce was the surprising favorite. The rustica pizzas come in a unique shape which made us smile. I'll have to find out the story next time. We enjoyed the grandmas (beware it's got LOTS of garlic- which I enjoy) and Nicky's burrata. The crust was very light and crispy which was great. The burrata pizza we got without sausage and I think for this reason it was missing some salt. Crust has been a restaurant that my wife and I have enjoyed though we have only ordered food to go over the last several years. I have spent time at the bar while waiting for orders to be ready though. Most of the time, I have ordered food in advance so it was ready when I pulled up. This restaurant has good reviews, delicious food, and the staff seem great! The twenty-inch pizzas were large and delicious whether the New York or Margherita pizzas, which I have ordered both before. I have also shared a salad with my wife whether the Caesar (romaine, parmesan, and croutons) or Mediterranean Farm Salad (farro, field greens, roasted artichokes, cucumber, tomato, pickled red onion, feta, and house vinaigrette). Finally, most recently, I ordered a Penne Alla Scottsdale, which consists of grilled chicken, spinach, cherry tomatoes, and garlic parmesan broth. There are three locations with a fourth on the way.
