This is a bougie slightly overpriced restaurant on the wharf like all the other ones in the world. The food is good but not amazing and the view is great and it's very professionally run. I got the halibut piccata and I think that was a poor choice because it's grilled and it came out a little dry and there wasn't quite enough picada sauce and it wasn't on top of it. The vegetables in the rice with it were outstanding. The shrimp plate my dining partner had was excellent as well. Nice location right in the Seward harbor. The food was nice. I had the Cioppino, while my wife had the Halibut piccata. The Ciopinno was nice and had a good amount of seafood in it. Cosy dinner for two. Amazing views. Delish food. We had the broiled salmon with potatoes. The presentation was stunning & very tasty. We ordered sourdough starter & loved the attention to detail with the creative presentation. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. We came in late on a Sunday night and we were really happy to find this wonderful restaurant (a highlight for our time in Seward) open and able to seat us. We LOVE Rays! It's always very busy and packed but that should tell you right away how things are going to be. The food is SO good. We have eaten at the bar a few times too and loved it. The service is top notch, friendly, great atmosphere. The food you can tell is made from scratch. Everything that we have ever gotten here is beyond amazing. You are able to call and make reservations. They also give you text message updates on your table, which is awesome. The bathrooms are always clean, love the view and their drinks are so good too. Approximately 1/4 of the loaf and 1/4 of the bottom of my hamburger bun were crouton hard. I passed on the bread and chose to eat my burger with a knife and fork sans bun. The rest of the meal was very good, the server was very knowledgeable as well as efficient. I've been here twice. This is one of the few restaurants on the water in Seward and offers stunning views. The food is quite good. Try the chowder and the curry halibut (Andaman). Go with the bread pudding for dessert. The service is not so great, but in their defense, they're always slammed and are likely staffed by seasonal workers. The prices are reasonable. I would say this is probably a must-do in Seward, mostly for the views, second for the food, and definitely not for the service. read more

It's been at least 6 years since I've been back in town and Rays is still the same. Nothing has changed with the place and the food is still the same recipes. Great views of the Seward ports and fresh seafood! The Seafood Chowder was creamy and super filling, full of potato's. I got the The Ultimate Creamy Seafood Linguine as well, which was pretty good! It had 2 scallops and 3 shrimps, seemed a little overpriced for the amount of seafood I received. I also didn't think it had much flavor, it was much better when I added lemon juice from an extra slice on my sisters plate. This added the zesty flavor I was looking for! This place is nothing special on the outside however on the inside was surprisingly nice even though it's very touristy. Bryan our server was exceptional (he was super busy, had tons of tables and it's loud in here but) he took the time to tell me what I should get. I ordered what he suggested (honey salmon) and it was very good. All their signature drinks as I watch them come out at various tables look fabulous - I had the old fashioned & hubby had the salty dawg... my husband thought the halibut fish and chips was fantastic - what was exceptional is there tartar sauce very dill-y and homemade (obviously). Stopped in for a quick bite, and to get a break before driving back to Anchorage. Views were great, but to bad it was raining. The seafood chowder was great, and was really a meal in itself. The location is convenient and central in downtown Seward with fantastic views of the harbor. We want to offer special appreciation to our server Charlie who was truly exceptional (friendly and efficient). As a lifelong resident of Seward he had so much to offer on all things local which was very helpful since we just bought a house here! Definitely get the chowder, the crab dip is tops, and I don't say this lightly but their cioppino rivals mine.
