RAZI FOODS is one of my favorite restaurants in Concord. The food is ALWAYS SO GOOD: Tasty, Clean, and always seasoned and cooked perfectly. It has a humble exterior. And inside, the decor is simple but clean always. Once you enter the restaurant, someone will greet you and you can sort of seat yourself. A menu will be presented to you, as well as you can take a look at the menu/ pictures behind the counter. They have a rather simple menu with like ~ 12-15 dishes (which I like), and ALL their dishes are super yum (I've tried almost all). I really appreciate the food here. The food is clean, seasoned and cooked perfectly always (e.g. their chicken cubes are always moist!), and I never get that yucky bloated after-taste... which is why I actually crave their food frequently! Oh - one more thing... expect a super-sized serving here! lol. The rice plate is served on a serving platter sized plate, so the portion is huge, making the food here not only tasty but a great value. With the large portion, I never share... I alway take 1/2 to go for my midnight snack or lunch for the next day. Like I told the chef, eating here always keeps me happy for two days!! :) Highly recommended! . read more

I came here specifically because they had the plain rice with the saffron yellow rice on top. I had no earthly idea their chicken was going to be that moist and delicious. Razi Foods aka Persian Nights opened in Tandoori Flames' space 2 years ago. New decor, seating. Same infrastructue/parking lot. Offerings (Persian/Iranian): appetizers, sides, stews, pollos, kebabs, soups, salads. Flatscreen behind counter had menu posted with pics. Paper menus had none. Steady procession of patrons-dine in & take out. No outside dining. Soft instrumentals from flatscreen showing flowers & scenery. bites: Gheymeh (16.99) Persian traditional stew. -ordered after viewing pics. Food came in 12ish minutes. -big dish of saffron covered basmatic rice flavored with rice spice blend. Irresistibly deliz. Saved most for snack later. -small aluminum bowl held the long simmered stew with yellow split pea cooked in tomato paste and onions. Skipped the veggie option. Razi Foods is now at this location off Monument that used to house a Chinese restaurant originally for many years, which then turned into an Indian and then a Himalayan place, and now have found itself with a Persian cuisine. Slightly different than how it was before, this place is definitely more set up like a deli style, as the front counter is filed with items to just grab and go, including desserts and such, while the menu is all up behind the counter. Of course, there are still plenty of places to sit down here as well, so if you prefer to dine-in that is also an option. We'll start with the service, because this place is a bit tricky. While the staff there was nice and friendly, the service is a bit stifled and slow. It does appear that the majority of the business with Razi Foods is takeout, and even with that they seem to be slower, so if you plan to dine-in, and you're not a regular, just be aware it may take time. There may not even be someone in the front for awhile, so probably just sit down when you get in if you're not picking up or ordering ahead because it may be awhile. Now, let's get down to business, the food. As noted, they offer a variety of different dishes, and the kebab options are certainly where its at with Razi Foods. While the prices on the surface for these plates may seem to be more expensive, the quantity of food you get for the price is actually quite comparable and filling. The eggplant dip was nice and tasty as a appetizer. I got the beef kebab plate for myself, and the amount of beef you get with the dish was aplenty. The beef is also grilled and flavored well, so no complaints there. The grilled tomato it came with was nice and big to help build on the plate. And the plain rice and flavored rice was also quite delicious. My friend got a combination plate, and his rice looks like it had some extra stuff going on with it which I may opt to try out next time since it looks yummy. However, I was able to sneak a bit of that chicken and honestly, I feel I probably like the chicken a bit more than the beef because it had more flavoring to it. May do that combination though since the beef was decent too. There's a lot to be desired at Razi Food for those who are craving Persian cuisine. But do note, for dine-in, it may not always be the speediest of times there depending on how busy they are with take-out orders and such. When they are around though they are friendly and approachable. Reasonable price for the amount of food you get, and everything tasted well spiced and seasoned. Pour one out for the Mandarin Garden that used to be in this location. In its place, Razi Foods (aka Persian Kitchen), is a worthy new restaurant. It's a bit hard to find as it's tucked behind a Jack in the Box and the parking lot seems half abandoned. We came here on Tuesday for lunch and we weren't even sure if they were open due to the signage and the lighting inside. Thankfully, they were and we were able to partake in many delicious foods. We started with the Kashke Bademjan (Persian Eggplant Dip). I asked the staff if this was similar to Baba Ghanoush and the gentleman said kind of but without Tahini. This was fantastic- served warm with lavash. We also had Persian Shallot Yogurt Dip which was good, but you can get something similar at Persian grocery stores. It was nice with lavash and with our main courses. For entrees, we got the #1 Beef Koobideh plate. A generous portion of rice/saffron rice, two skewers worth of ground beef, and a roasted tomato. We also got the #5 Jewel Rice Shirin Polo plate. Tender chicken with fruit forward flavored rice. Everything was very tasty and it was more than enough food for 3 people. read more

Truly a hidden gem hiding behind Jack in the box on monument. Razi's serves possibly the best Persian food in Contra Costa. The meat has the best charcoal flavors and seasoning is perfect every time. While their menu is a small selection, you can really tell that they put a lot of time and heart into each dish. While we might order different meats from time to time, we ALWAYS get the eggplant (kashisk bedejan). It's so creamy, smokey, minty, and rich. Drooling just thinking about it!! Eating at Razi's feels less like a business exchange and more like visiting family. The staff is so hospitable and friendly. Came in this afternoon to finally try some Persian food in my area. Ordered the #3 with extra chicken kebab. Food was amazing as my family thoroughly enjoyed it! The chef came out to take the order and recommended the chicken for the kids (as he had some of his own). I came to this restaurant as a newbie, I've never eaten Iranian food before. I was pleasantly surprised, I loved it! I got the eggplant dip, and it was fabulous (I've never eaten eggplant before either!). I also got the chicken kebab and kebab koobideh with rice. It was more than enough food for 2 people (ended up bringing half of it home). I also bought some baklava to take home, it was also delicious. We stood at the counter for a bit until another customer got up and poked her head in the kitchen to let them know we were there. We ordered then sat down and food was brought out to us. Everything tasted great, the chicken in particular was seasoned so well and was so incredibly tender. The rice looked dry but it wasn't, it was so flavorful. Lets start with the food, great presentation, huge portions and the flavors are the closest to real Persian food I have tasted. Not only is the flavor and char excellent, their portions are probably 1/3 to a half bigger than the competition for the price. I have to stress, many of the items on their menu are also much cheaper than what you'll find at other Persian restaurants ($2 baklava anyone?). They even have a few Euro-style cakes and pre-made tubs of savory to-go items in the display case.
