I was told the thermostat repair would likely be completed the same day, pending warranty approval and parts availability, and that I would be contacted if there were any issues. Near closing that evening, I was informed that the part had arrived, but warranty approval was still pending, so the car would be ready on Tuesday. On Tuesday morning, I was told the warranty was approved, and the vehicle would be ready by the end of the day. After receiving no updates, I called around 4:45 PM and was told it was ready, but additional motor mount work had been identified. I explained that I had planned based on the provided timelines. I was told a part needed to be ordered from Texas and would arrive on Thursday, and that I could bring the car back once it arrived. I was told I would receive a call when the part arrived, but I did not. On Thursday at 5:25 PM, I called and was told the part had arrived and that I could bring it in on Friday. On Friday morning, I called at 9:30 AM to confirm again that the vehicle would be ready by the end of the day. I clearly explained that I was leaving town on Saturday and that leaving the car was based on that understanding. I dropped it off at 10:30 AM and was told I would be contacted only if there were warranty issues. After receiving no updates, I called at 4:42 PM and was informed that no work had been performed and that the warranty claim had been submitted only about an hour earlier. My concern is not the repair itself but repeated failures to communicate accurate timelines and manage customer expectations. Came in for work, they were recommended by family. In the process they broke my hood latch. They proceeded to charge me for the damage they caused even though i told them that doesn't seem right. Still to get my car back i had to pay. I left another review initially and was asked to remove it and in return id be refunded. Over 10+ months have passed and no refund was given. So on top of being charged for their mistake, i was also lied to, to protect their reviews. Truthfully I shouldn't have even been persuaded to remove the initial review, but especially considering their lack of follow through, this review is here to stay. I have brought our car to this particular Mazda dealership for all our oil changes since the day we purchased it back in July 2010. So for it to have been stripped, I know was not our doing. All my years of owning a car, I have never had to deal with a stripped oil pan drain plug. Since our engine light came, I decided to schedule an appointment with Mazda service department and at our appointment, they told my husband that we needed to replace oil pan and were quoted $3,000.00!! WTH??? On top of that, they said we would probably need a new water hose, too. How would they even know that when they hadn't even checked on why the engine light came on? He told them we would have to think about it. I reached out to a very close friend and he referred us to RBK Auto Tech. Best referral hands down! We met with Sam at the front counter. I told him what Mazda said that needed to be done and what they quoted us. He was floored and couldn't believe they wanted to charge us that much. We left our car there and the next day, Sam explained the diagnosis and what work was done. All we needed was a larger oil drain plug and an evap hose. (Whew!) When Sam told us the cost, we were pleasantly surprised at reasonable price and so relieved that we didn't have to come up 3G's for services that we really didn't need. Sam was nothing but SUPER friendly, very knowledgeable, honest, thorough and just a great person to talk to. Even though we live in the Elk Grove area, we decided right then and there, we will gladly without hesitation drive to RBK Auto Tech for ALL our auto service needs from here on out. Let me start by summarizing that this place is amazing and does some of the best work I've seen from any mechanic I've used in the past (including the dealerships). They are very honest and don't try and charge you for work that doesn't need to be done. The communication is great and they will always let you know if there are things that should be watched for in the future or isn't an immediate concern. I brought several of my vehicles to them and all have been fixed in an efficient time frame and for much less than was quoted at the dealership. They are also very accurate with the quoted time for the repair meaning they know what they're doing and don't take longer than anticipated unless they find additional work that is necessary after things are opened up. I took my Subaru in for service at RBK Auto Tech. They were prompt and had several items repaired within a few hours including brakes, power steering service, an oil change. The next day they even helped fix a broken window washer after we learned that the dealer wanted $45 for a little plastic part.
