Long Version: Our HVAC went out just as summer was hitting. Upstairs completely dead, downstairs on it's last leg Ouch. I actually own a general contracting company, but not in Riverside County. So I had to interview and vet HVAC companies from scratch. Advanced HVAC was the 2nd contractor we met with in our home. Danny was simply outstanding. HONEST, thorough, expert. He was patient and provided different options based on our budget. NOTE TO OWNER OF ADVANCED AIR OWNERSHIP: whatever you are paying this man is not enough - give him a raise. When Danny left after about 90 minutes, our decision was made. We were going with Advanced Air. Pricing was clear, upfront and VERY competitive. Unfortunately, I can't say that about the other contractors we met with. Notes about pricing: as a Contractor myself, I have the ability to understand approximately how much these HVAC contractors are marking up their labor and materials. An unscrupulous contractor may attempt to charge 50% or 100% more than another one for the EXACT SAME system. Do not fall for this. At the same time though, a quality contractor like Advanced Air has the right to cover all of their costs AND earn a fair profit for their TIME AND EXPERTISE. As a homeowner, the quality of installation should matter to you just as much as the materials. I recommend looking for a FAIR price but not necessarily the LOWEST price. Advanced Air delivers in both respects. Once the scope of work was final, we scheduled the install. It was actually (2) units, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. The team was obviously experienced. Austin, Johnny and Mike immediately split up and went to work. By the end of the day we had COLD AIR flowing out of all the air ducts - sooo nice. The team went through a brief checklist with me confirming what tasks were done. Loved that professional touch. The work areas were left CLEAN and tidy. Their technician came out, diagnosed the problem, and told me that my transformer and capacitor needed to be replaced. I was quoted approximately $1,155 for the repair. I understand that companies have overhead, technicians need to be paid, and businesses need to make a profit. I have absolutely no problem paying a fair price for professional work. But in my opinion, this quote was outrageous. What bothered me even more was that the technician told me the parts for my AC unit were backordered, making it seem like they were difficult to get. That turned out not to be true in my experience. I was able to locate and purchase the parts myself that very same day. So I honestly don't understand why I was told they were backordered when I had no problem getting them immediately from a local supplier. I'm pretty handy myself, so instead of agreeing to the repair, I decided to purchase the transformer and capacitor myself. As shown in my receipts, I paid less than $80 total for the parts. One receipt shows $32.61 for the transformer, and the other shows $42.40 for the capacitor -- $75.01 total. What makes this experience even more frustrating is that replacing those parts did NOT fix my AC. After doing additional troubleshooting myself, I discovered that the actual issue involved the low-voltage circuit. I eventually tracked down the problem myself and got my AC running again. So not only was I quoted over $1,100 for a repair involving parts that cost me about $75, but I was also told those parts were backordered when I was able to purchase them the same day, and after replacing them, the AC still didn't work because that wasn't the actual problem. I understand there is much more to a professional service call than the cost of parts. You're paying for labor, experience, insurance, vehicles, overhead, and a company standing behind its work. But there is still a point where pricing feels excessive, especially when the proposed repair does not address the actual problem. What really disappoints me is that when someone calls an HVAC company during extremely hot weather, especially when they explain that they have children in the home and need their AC working, they are relying on that company to give them an accurate diagnosis and a reasonable repair option. In my experience, that is not what happened here. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend PDS Plumbing & Air. I strongly encourage homeowners to get a second opinion and compare pricing before approving an expensive HVAC repair. I'm attaching my receipts as proof of what I actually paid for the parts. The transformer and capacitor together cost me $75.01, and I was able to purchase them the same day despite being told the parts were backordered. I'm glad I was ultimately able to troubleshoot the low-voltage issue myself and get the AC running for my family, but I shouldn't have had to diagnose the actual problem myself after receiving a professional service call and being presented with a $1,155 repair quote.

I had them set up in my garage so they have a clean flat surface to work on. They left my garage spotless. They had to install a new furnace and AC unit in my attic. It was 105 out and 130 in the attic. They never stopped or complained. They set up fans and got to work. They also installed a new X-Series outside. Wow this massive 5 Ton unit is quiet and thin. It is running in the other side of a wall and I cannot hear it. They took 6 hours to remove and install, test and clean up. That was impressive. David our sale rep was also great. He helped us get a deal we could live with. I also op-ed in the maintenance plan so I could keep a 10 year parts and labor warranty. Peace of mind to keep this running smoothly. Because the part was free they charged me a $79 diagnostic fee PLUS an aggressively inflated $252 labor fee for 2 minutes of physical labor to swap out a capitor. This is a $7,500/hr. labor rate. They rushed to cash my check within hours of leaving my house so I could not dispute and their office said I was being unreasonable when I asked for a fair breakdown. Avoid this company if you value HONESTY!
