    Chicken Fried Rice 10/10

Food was awesome. Service from the friendly staff was good . The atmosphere was chill and the music was upbeat.

Egg rolls despite being late were actually really good!

We had very high hopes! Usually the hole in the wall places are always a surprise hit. Not here. The service first of all was lacking. There were only three tables and it took a while for the waitress to come to us. We ordered the egg rolls as an appetizer. She asked if we wanted it first or with our meal. We said before. Well they never came, or they did but when were almost done with our meal. I had the Korean beef bbq with rice, the table had the chicken fried rice and I forgot what the other dish was. We ate here awhile back and just now getting caught up. We are huge on value, but don't mind paying a premium if the food is worth it. This was not it. I will start with my plate which was overpriced. The Korean beef plate was literally one flanken rib cut into three pieces. Shame on yall! With a scoop of white rice and cucumber. The fried rice was also lacking flavor. The rice freak was disappointed, and when he isn't a big fan, we believe him. The noodle dish won't half bad. Yet again, I will not trust google reviews any longer.....

Came here on Saturday for lunch. Great customer service and we all had the combination (dac biet) pho, fried rice and bun.

Good place to get your pho fix. Clean tables utensils and floors. Wide spaces. Pleasant temperature, thanks to the 8 of 8 working ceiling fans. Friendly staff. Nice pho broth. It was hot but not steaming. Garnishes very fresh. Summer roll was shorter and slightly wider than typical, but was clearly just hand wrapped with slices of slightly warm beef and cool shrimp inside with the fresh munchies inside. The peanut sauce was a house recipe that worked well but could be smoother.. Visually the sight of supplies in the dining room was less than professional.

Truly looked forward to some pho and banh mi , but was sadly disappointed! Large open space with plenty of table seating, friendly server, and large menu with many choices. But be aware, prices listed are not current, they were in the process of updating. Server rung up items and gave us receipt with current prices. We ordered the crispy Vietnamese egg roll, per server recommendation. I think out of all the things we ordered, this was our fave! It's one very large egg roll sliced and came with lettuce and fish sauce. Egg roll was hearty and flavorful. I dipped mine in a spicy chili sauce. Can't go wrong with this egg roll! Large bowl of round eye steak/ brisket pho- Good amount of meat, but broth was nothing special- bland ! Noodles stuck together and became very mushy. Normally side condiments include basil... no basil here, but cilantro instead. I would have also preferred more bean sprouts and jalapeños. Grilled pork banh mi- Boring! Minimal amount of grilled pork, thank goodness we ordered extra. Pork was nicely seasoned , but what makes up an authentic sandwich is the pickled vegetables. None to be seen in this sandwich. It consisted of mayo, a few thinly sliced cucumbers, cilantro, and one sliced jalapeño. $9.75 including the extra meat is not worth it. Sorry , but we've had better. Don't think we'll revisit

Tonight is sooo cold and rainy. After we finished our workout and walked out of Planet Fitness I immediately knew I wanted some pho. Thankfully this place is right next door!! I got some beef pho to go and WOW it hit the spot. Everything was carefully packed and I had the most delicious bowl of pho as soon as I got home. Highly recommend!

The food here is delicious and service is welcoming and helpful. They have plenty of seating available. Relaxed ambiance. Their chili oil was very spicy and I loved it. My husbands first time trying Pho and he loved it.

First time DINING IN! So I'd come here several times to eat in the last two years but they were always closed to dine-in (delivery only due to covid) so I'd either order to go or drive off. Food was consistently good in the past. I drove up today in hopes that I'd get to finally watch inside and HALLELUJAH! Open dining room. I walk in on this Friday afternoon and it's empty except for myself and my appetite and a worker who greets me from the register in back. There are two flat screen TVs mounted on the walls but just one is on. Daytime tv is on so I listen in on the Drew Barrymore Show. The worker brings me a large cup of cold water (no ice), a thick stack of napkins and a paper sack with silverware. I order the Vietnamese fried egg rolls as an appetizer and for the main entrée, I stick with my fave go-to grilled pork rice plate. I also order a Special Rice Plate for my son to enjoy at home. The food all comes together, but no biggie. I enjoy everything today. Temperatures, flavors are all what I expect them to be. Win!!! Happy I came in today. It squashed that nagging craving I've been having for WEEKS! If you read my reviews, you know how much I love my (authentic) Asian food.

The food lacks flavour... the price is a little high for the portion given. Not my first,2nd or 3rd choice for Vietnamese food.

The entree came out before the appetizers. The spicy noodle soup was spicy (as named) and it was good, but it was incredibly oily and the noodles were overcooked, so I didn't eat much of it. I would definitely recommend ordering this with rice, or taking it home and making your own. The dumplings and spring rolls were crispy, but nothing special. I did like the duck sauce they had -- I would have asked my server for more of it, but she was busy in the back or something, not sure. I wish she would've checked in on me a bit more during the visit so I could have gotten more napkins and sauce. The service was alright. I wish I would've gotten checked on a little bit more, but she was nice and helped me pack my noodles to go. Overall, this spot wasn't terrible, but if I had to choose, I'd probably try another place.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

Every dish feels thoughtfully curated with tried-and-true recipes rooted in Chef Luca and his family's Northern Italian traditions. This is the kind of place where quality takes priority over quantity. Our server, Gary, was fantastic. He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about Italian food and wine. His recommendations were spot-on and his enthusiasm felt so genuine. We started with a bread basket accompanied by a little sampling of tapenade, which was savory, briny, and a perfect complement to the warm bread. Came in with a group of four, we kicked things off with the burrata starter--a surprisingly fun and shareable adventure of baked burrata, fresh crostini, roasted cauliflower, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and basil cream. There was a lot happening on the plate, but it all worked beautifully together. For our entrées, we ordered the Tartufo, Cinghiale, Bolognese, and Carbonara. And let me just say, the Tartufo was a full-on dinner performance. Gary brought out steaming hot tagliatelle pasta and tossed it tableside inside a giant wheel of Parmesan. He then topped it with crab meat in brown butter before finishing it with a generous shaving of truffle. Every bite was like a perfectly timed symphony of flavors--rich, savory, buttery, and earthy, with nothing outshining the other. I'd put this dish up against anyone's nonna. I sampled the other three entrées as well, and every one was delicious. The gnocchi in the Cinghiale is an absolute must-try--pillowy, texturally delightful, and packed with flavor. Thank you, Nonna Osteria, for such an epic culinary experience. And a special shoutout to Gary for guiding us through the menu and making an already great dinner even better.
