A perfect setting. The cashier/order taker was a gracious lady, polite, and attentive. The place had a pleasant, smoky aroma, just like it should. My wife and I went for the food, which is the central point of going to a restaurant. And the results met my expectations of the "Texas Standard". Brisket: full of flavor, with a nice smoky and all round taste. A minor issue was that it could have been a bit more moist. I say minor because this is the easiest thing to correct, by small adjustment. First rate. Spare ribs: excellent. My wife was over the moon. She is Brazilian and a veteran of Brazil BBQ. They were delicious. Chicken: perfectly smoked and moist. Even the white meat. There was a present bark on the surface, which added to the taste. Sausage: delightful. Obviously an individual, small batch recipe. Very flavorful and moist. Superb. Cornbread: My favorite style of light, natural flavor, not oily. Iced Tea: fresh taste and flavor. Not bitter. High quality. Sauces: regular and tangy. As good as I have ever tasted. Potato Salad: The best I have ever tasted in my 78 years. Different and unique. Coleslaw: Perfect. Cannot, in my opinion, be improved upon. Price: surprisingly fair. Very fair. I was pleasantly surprised at such Texas quality in Fort Lauderdale. We will be going to no other for BBQ.

I was at Mission BBQ on commercial and an employee walked by and asked if I wanted any "freedom fries". I said, "no. That's something only ignorant republicans would say. They are French Fries and I'll call them French Fries. He said, "oh" and looked confused and walked away. Later he walked back by as I was leaving and I said, "is that something YOU call them or is that like a corporate thing? He says, "it's a special spice they add to the fries and they call them "freedom fries" here. So heavy dog whistling here for alt-right view points. Recall when Republicans got mad at France and decided to rename French Fries in DC to "freedom fries?" I kindly reminded him, "and just so you know the French are our allies."
