Reservations are tough to get, so plan a couple months ahead, but the experience was worth it. The atmosphere is nice, dim lighting, and the open kitchen right in the middle of the restaurant makes it feel personal. They also have this huge glass wine room with a giant ladder that looked really impressive. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive throughout the meal, took time to explain how different dishes were prepared, gave helpful recommendations, and paced everything out really well for the table. The portions here are massive compared to a lot of upscale spots, so it actually felt like a solid value for the quality and amount of food. We shared a few pastas, steak, sides, cocktails, and desserts and left completely stuffed. The Hot & Crispy Country Italian Bread was nice and garlicky. The Coal Roasted Sweet Potatoes were buttery and rich with mascarpone, the Wood Grilled Broccolini had a nice little kick to it. The steak, a 20 oz center cut ribeye was incredibly tender, flavorful, and came pre sliced which made it easy to share. My favorite dish of the night was easily the Tagliolini with Fresh Blue Crab. Rich, buttery, and packed with flavor. We also had the Spaghettini alle Vongole with clams, which was lighter but still really good. For drinks, I had the Heat of Passion cocktail with mezcal and loved it, and we also tried one of their seasonal strawberry cocktails that was refreshing and balanced with herbs. Dessert was a strong finish. The Hot Apple Crostata with salted caramel gelato was incredible. It had a buttery crust, not overly sweet, that went perfect with the gelato. The chocolate cake was good but a little too rich for me personally.
Enjoyed an amazing birthday dinner here. We were seated next to the fire which was nice cozy ambiance. Garlic bread was a great start. The gnocchi pasta was to die for!!!! Roasted chicken was pretty solid. Their panna cotta was the perfect ending to our meal, I prefer it over the tiramisu. Service was excellent.
We've always heard so much hype about Red Ash and just had to try for ourselves. Takes a few months to get a reservation. I had made a reservation a few weeks prior for our anniversary month. When we sat at our table they had a cute little greeting card from the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. Pro Tip: Just make a reservation way in advance and if you make it you make it. Even if you don't think you will be able to make it. If you can't go just cancel with enough advance. We started with the Meatballs that pair wonderfully with their Italian Bread. Flavorful and plentiful dish and def get the bread! Next came the Bone Marrow & Tuna Crudo. I will say though for some reason after we finished our Meatballs it took them quite a while to bring our dishes after that. Bone Marrow was divine and also paired well with the Italian Bread. Tuna Crudo was not what I expected because it was warm and I was expecting it to be cold. But it was good and I love eggplant. Our main dish was the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese. From the description it seemed to hit all the boxes since we are meat lovers (contains braised beef & pork shoulder) and truffle. I love me some truffle. When we ordered the Agnolotti Alla Piemontese I asked him does it have a lot of truffle flavor because I love truffle. He said oh we can definitely add more truffle if you would like when the dish comes out. When the dish came they had the chef come shave an extra truffle on the dish. I honestly could not taste the difference. Was not enough truffle flavor for me. Note the extra truffle is an added charge. Overall lovely experience. If we return we will need to try some different dishes to give it another try.
The Agnolotti pasta was really good, so much so I had to scrape every ounce of the sauce off the plate. The bone marrow was also pretty solid. However, I didn't really feel like the Blue crab pasta lives up to the hype. The noodle was a little dry and the sauce flavor was a little plain in my opinion.
5 stars for appetizers and dessert 4 stars for main The appetizers and desserts were excellent. The appetizers were just really done so well, though pricey. The steak trimmings bruschetta was a single slice of bread, but it was loaded with both perfect medium rare steak and delicious mushrooms. Add maybe a $4 order of two slices of their garlic bread, and you could perhaps call this an entree. The octopus was perfectly tender and came sitting in a delicious almost-stew that made the dish heartier. Again, kind of expensive for the single skewer (about 6 pieces) of octopus. We got one of the most expensive mains -- the cold lobster tails scampi style with spaghettini. There were five small lobster tails, which isn't bad. Flavor was just fine. The pasta on the side was just fine, just cooked beyond al dente in a simple tomato sauce. It was a little surprising the pasta didn't have lobster flavor or even scampi flavor. Felt like two very different dishes on the plate. This dish also came with a slice of bread. Their bread is great. We also got the special-- morel mushrooms over polenta and a poached egg. It tasted great but was probably the thinnest, smallest serving of polenta I've ever had. The desserts is where Red Ash then redeemed itself. The tiramisu is great...AND HUGE. Double the size I would have expected. And they don't say it on the menu, but you can order a single scoop of gelato for $4. Parking is always challenging downtown; we got super lucky with someone leaving street parking just as we got there. It's very noisy inside. Why do downtown restaurants insist on having no sound dampening?
We had a wonderful date night at Red Ash and finally understood why it's one of Austin's most talked‑about restaurants. We booked our 6:45pm reservation two months out, arrived a little early, and were seated at the bar right away--already a great start. Drinks: She ordered the Heat of Passion and I went with the Satan's Circus. Both were solid cocktails, but the Heat of Passion definitely stole the show with brighter, more pronounced flavors. Mine was good, though the chilis were much more subtle than expected. Starters: We started with the burrata with tomatoes and the bone marrow. The burrata itself was outstanding--creamy, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The tomatoes were good but could have used a touch more seasoning, though it seemed they were going for a "let the ingredients shine" approach. The bone marrow, however, was phenomenal. Rich, buttery, and paired perfectly with the extra bread it came with (which was helpful since we devoured the burrata's bread instantly). It was my first time trying marrow, and it was a "when in Rome" moment I'm glad I had. Entrées: We shared the potato gnocchi (small portion) and the blue crab pasta (full portion). The crab pasta was flavorful and well‑balanced, but the gnocchi packed such a punch that you really had to alternate bites or it would overshadow the other dish entirely. For what it's worth, we're not huge seafood people, so that may have influenced our impressions--but both dishes were delicious in their own way. Dessert: We debated between the olive oil cake and the chocolate cake, and finally chose the chocolate hazelnut volcano cake. Zero regrets. Rich, warm, and decadent--halfway through I was ready for a nap in the best possible way. Ambience: The building itself is thoughtful and stylish. There was music playing (sounded like Bad Bunny vibes), but it was hard to hear over the crowd--if anything, lowering it might make conversations easier. Service: Sitting at the bar ended up being a great choice. The bartender was attentive, helpful with recommendations, and kept the experience smooth from start to finish. Overall: A fantastic evening and absolutely worth the hype. We completely understand why people rave about Red Ash.
We managed to sneak in here on a Monday night and find bar seating at around 8:30 PM. I was later told it takes months to get a reservation, and after trying the food and feeling the vibes, I could see why. Intimate, but casual environment with friendly service. The lighting is spot on: not too dark, not too bright. We shared the meatballs and the osso bucco and a bottle of wine. The osso bucco was probably among the best I've had. The wine list is quite extensive and you can find some pretty good values. I like it here so much I tried to get back in the following night. This is rare for me. When I'm away traveling for work, I always try to hit different spots, but it was that good. Unfortunately for me, my luck ran out. They couldn't even squeeze me in at the bar.
One of my favorite spots in Austin! The food was great and the vibes are there. It does get super busy, and our reservation had to be made 3 months in advance as there was nothing available. The space can get crowded and loud, and you will have to wait a bit past your reservation time to get your table. We sat at the bar and it was okay. Service is friendly, but slow. This was my first time trying bone marrow and it was underwhelming, but it was cool to try. The steak was amazing and will def be trying the rest on the menu. The ravioli was good and the spaghetti with meatballs was good too! Overall, it's a great spot and totally recommend trying at least once. My main callout is to expect to do a lot of waiting for your food, especially if you're there during prime dinner hours. Our reservation was for 7pm and we left around 10pm.
Fantastic first visit to this place that we've been excited to try. Reservations were a bit challenging so now we know to book far in advance, plan ahead! Paid parking is directly across the street, minimum for 2 hours was $27 and can always be extended however the restaurant allows 1 hr 45 minutes to dine. Valet is available. We chose to sit near the cooks which was very entertaining. It's amazing to watch how focused each chef was, attention to detail and composure! It made us want everything on the menu. Our waitstaff was Stephen who was cordial and helpful. Since this was our first, and definitely not our last, we started with the burrata appetizer which was a hardy portion with leftovers. Friends recommended the osso bucco so we got that and husband got the rigatoni with sausage. Both were delicious while the osso bucco was full of flavor and tender, the rigatoni was also a hit! Portions were very generous with lots of leftovers to enjoy a 2nd and 3rd time. We cannot wait to return so we can order an array of smaller portions so we have the opportunity of trying different menu items! We were extremely full for desserts so this will definitely be had with smaller plate selections. Thank you for an enjoyable evening, we will be back!
We finally got a reservation to dine at Red Ash! Let me tell you this, it was eventful. We ordered the following items and I've listed my opinion of these items line by line. HOT AND CRISPY COUNTRY ITALIAN BREAD ( loved it) *SQUASH BLOSSOMS ( loved it) OCTOPUS A LA PLANCHA (loved it) WILD RED SNAPPER A LA PLANCHA "LIVORNESE. (Liked it) OSSO BUCO MILANESE (loved it) TAGLIOLINI WITH FRESH BLUE CRAB (loved it) CHARRED SWEET CORN RISOTTO "GRATINATA ( liked it) I started off with moscato it was delicious and honestly I'm pissed I didn't just order a whole bottle. Do not make the mistake I did.... Just get the bottle. The mood, food, service and decor of this place is a vibe. I enjoyed all the aspects. Now let's get down to why this experience was eventful. During the meal I saw something fly by. "Fly" as in a bird flew by. I thought I was seeing things. Nope, I did indeed see a pigeon fly by the table about 3 times. It did not land on my table but it did land on the railing near a table 3 table tops away. After a couple screams the bird landed in a ceiling area. Since we were dining on the 2nd floor we had a good view of it. We became fascinated concerning where the bird would go next. We took a few pictures of it; tried to get a video of it in flight. I think we missed out on that. We did notice the bird kept turning around. It did in fact poop on the table below where a couple was having drinks. They were promptly moved to another area in the restaurant. Our waiter kept tell us this sort of thing never happens. I don't know if that is true. It was our 1st time visiting.
Was able to snag a reservation at Red Ash while visiting Austin for the holidays. The hostess was extremely pleasant. I say this whole heartedly because I feel that it's rare to come across friendly staff at the front at restaurants like Red Ash. We were asked which table we would prefer as well which is always so nice! Inside is beautiful and I absolutely loved the decor. The food was delicious. Drinks were pretty AND good, iykyk. My husband and I raved about this place our entire dinner. We will definitely come back the next time we're in town! 10/10 highly recommend
I'd been hearing about Red Ash for months and I was so excited that I finally got to try it! We were in town and wanted to go to a nice dinner, and thus definitely hit the spot. We made a reservation far in advance and it was still a late night meal (no complaints, just hop on your Rez when you can). I split a bottle of red wine with my friend, and my boyfriend and his friend had some bourbon pours. They have a pretty good selection of cocktails which we love. We split the bone marrow and it was delicious. I've never had it before and I wasn't sure what to expect, but wow- spread it on some fresh bread and it's fantastic. We also split the octopus which was pretty good. It's not always my favorite but I did like the flavor it had. We also had a ceaser salad which was so fresh and delicious. For my entree I had the spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta was amazing and simple, exactly how I wanted it! Dessert was the tiramisu which was divine. Our server was amazing and our overall experience was fantastic. You must go here!

The hype about Red Ash didn't met my expectations. I'm an Italian living in Austin and wanted to taste some of the flavors I grew up with, and I waited two months for a reservation, but left disappointed. The Agnolotti pasta and filling were good, however the sauce had way too many onions and ruined a dish that is normally amazing. The Frutti di Mare pasta didn't have enough clams but too many mussels and the flavor was not satisfying. The mascarpone in the Tiramisu overpowered the overall taste, it was like eating a fancy cheesecake. On the bright side: the ossobuco was to kill for, and the cocktails were delicious. The service and atmosphere were also top tier. I'll go back one more time to try the ossobuco, hopefully it will make up for the let down. read more

Came here for my wife's 50th birthday dinner while visiting Austin for the weekend and Red Ash did not disappoint. We had some of the best pasta and steak we have ever had before. I am still daydreaming about the squash blossom app. Service was 5 star. Definitely worth the hype. read more
3.5 stars. I came here for my birthday dinner since I was able to snag a reservation! Off the bat the ambience is dark and romantic. Very small interior with a lot of tables making it feel cramped. Our table was not ready even though I had a reservation and we had to wait 15 minutes for it in the front corner with other individuals making it very cramped and tight. When we sat down however the service was amazing. He guided us through the wine menu and gave us recommendations for food. I ended up getting the snapper crudo and the agnolotti alla piemontese. Both were really delicious and flavorful and I appreciated ending the meal with a complimentary tiramisu. I thought the food was good and not too pricey but I'm not sure if it's worth the long wait for a reservation. read more

Me and a friend wanted to try Red Ash for a long time, making reservations is so hard, I called them as I couldn't find any thing, for 2-3 weeks, but then realized it's easier if you check for a day or two days before, that way I think either you get some one canceled reservation or they may open up more spots, but that's how we got, there was a parking lot opposite to the restaurant which was convenient. We thought this place is more silent, low energy kinda place, but it's not, it's too loud, crazy crowded and too tight, they have tried to fit as many tables as they can. We got bread for the table, I got Havana 3am, don't remember what my friends ordered, they got bone marrow and TAGLIATELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE, I got bishops hat. Bread was good, it was too much buttery and rich, one slice of a bread, you're good. Friends dint like there bone marrow much, but they liked their pasta very much, they ordered entree size and shared between two of them, I got a side size of bishop hats, there were only 5of them, and thought should've ordered the entree size, but they were soaked drenched and floating on brown butter, so 5was good, and felt too much brown butter, kinda overwhelming. Overall it was good, but not that good as the place has been hyped. read more

Let me preface this with saying that my wife and I did not have a reservation and we went in at 9pm and they close at 10pm. I hear that it is very hard to get in without having a reservation months in advance so we weren't sure we were going to get it. When we stepped in we were greeted by a fully packed restaurant and a very welcoming host who was able to find us a table very quickly. She walked us to a table upstairs were we saw there was a 12 person party right next to us and the rest of the section looked full so we knew this was going to be a get in get out type of night. Our server Miles arrived very promptly to great us and asked if we had dined in before and had any allergies which was nice. We answered that we had not been before and that we've actually never had Italian cuisine at this level the most had been Olive Garden so we really didn't know what to do or start. Miles assured us that that wasn't a problem and proceeded to explain every aspect of the menu with quickness and precision making sure to high light their main focus which is how the head chef cuts everything every morning and they cook it in their fire pit downstairs. We could tell we were in the hands of a profesional so my wife and I decided to allow him to choose our starters. When miles arrived we asked him to bring us 3 of the absolute must haves of his choice and what exemplifies Italian cuisine the best. What he brought out was divine. He brought out the thin slice prosciutto which was rich and flavorful, the rustic garlic bread which I had no idea bread could taste so good, and the clams which were like mini flavor bombs on the palate. He explained that these were his personal favorites and they paired best with each other. Each bite we took further solidified that we were in the hands of an impeccable server. After such I wanted to get a wine but I had never had Italian wine before and knew little about it, I know French and American wines pretty well but nothing of Italian so I asked Miles to bring me a wine that encapsulates what Italian wine is as a whole which is a tall order to fill and that he had 300$ of wiggle room to work with. The second I finished my sentence not a second later does he smile and say that he had the perfect one in mind. Miles proceeds to bring me a bottle of 2021 Luce Delle Vita by the Luce winery and proceeds to explain to me how this is a super Tuscan which is a style of Italian wine that was made to combat the French domination of the global wine trade along with more complex details and it was valued at 240$ which was well under budget so right away I could tell that be brought me a wine for exactly what I was looking for and not trying to over sell me. (I almost forgot but the initial glass someone brought was dirty which to no fault of their own it's a very dark restaurant but once I brought it up to Miles he replaced it with a Somalia's glass which are super expensive, delicate, and allow the wine to breathe the best.) He poured me the wine and explained that Italian wines are meant to be much more acidic to pair better with the rich food. As I sipped every tasting note he said was spot on including the aromas. The flavor profile was so different from an America or French red I've tasted but it was iconic. He had brought me exactly what I was looking for. I asked about soil composition and that was something he didn't know but told me he'd bring his Somalia over to talk to me about it. After the wine we order the New York strip off the special and it came out fast and beautiful medium rare it was so rich and delicate. While we ate the Som came up which I had forgot and we had a pleasant conversation and he educated me so much about Italian wine. All in all my experience here was phenomenal and it was all thanks to Miles expertise, knowledge, and professionalism. We thought we were going to be treated with fast service when we first walked in but Miles truly made us feel so unbelievably special as if we were the only ones in the whole restaurant. Delicious food and great service! I highly recommend the crab pasta, bone marrow appetizer but the star of the show was that chocolate cake. I wish I took a photo of it, I'll be dreaming about that cake until the end of time! read more
Wow!! Just wow! Had our team Christmas party here and please excuse the terrible pics as we were having too much fun and eating too much good food to take more pics! Beautiful restaurant, fantastic service and the food is phenomenal! We began with what is possibly the best garlic bread anywhere ! It was delicious!! Then I had the snapper crudo which was delicious, fresh and perfectly dressed! Finally - I am not a big pasta fan but the smaller plates of fresh pasta intrigued me, especially Bishops Hats with sage and brown butter ! It was one of the best pasta dishes of my life ! Finally had another chance to visit red ash, and had another A1 dinner! We came this time for my mom's birthday; originally there were no reservations other than 9pm when I made the res. However, I called a few times that same week and asked for anything else, and they were able to move us up to 6:45p which I appreciated. When we came, we were seated right away and our server/the hosts were very kind and attentive! My mom got the snapper a la Planca, my dad got the pollo allá diavolo (HUGE whole chicken, we were all shook by this dish lol), and I got the Agnolotti (fancy wagyu ravioli - DELICIOUS). My mom liked her snapper but felt it was a wee bit small for the price ($42ish?)? Nevertheless, she was full. Our waiter mentioned that the chicken dish was the hidden gem of the menu, and GOSH he was right - it was not only a massive dish but the chicken was delicious! And as for my dish - I also thought it would be a bit more for the price ($38 I think?) but it was so delicious I wasn't mad, and I was totally full by the end. I also got an aviation cocktail, one of my faves! And my mom got a pina Fresca because she likes fruity drinks. It was pretty strong and she liked it a lot. And of course, we had to get the country bread ($4 per piece). They gave us 1 extra too, which was so nice. It is SOOOO delicious! For dessert, my mom got a scoop of ice cream, and she also wanted to try the olive oil cake so I got her a slice. She liked both. Overall: I just love red ash. The ambiance is great, service is fabulous, and food is just delicious. The pasta dishes remain my favorite (best cost to value imo), but I stand firm that everything I've had here is a delight. The only trouble is getting a reservation, but if you can manage that, it's a delightful meal every time :) read more

Every moment of our visit was outstanding including the environment, decor, service, preparation, presentation and taste. It's now Regina's favorite and possibly mine as well. We had a Little Gem Caesar, Frutti del Mare, Osso Buco, Parmagian Yukon Gold Potatoes, Meatballs in Polenta and hot Apple Crostata with Country Garlic Bread. Stunning. The Osso Buco was the best I've ever tasted. Regina is addicted to the Frutti di Mare. Top shelf service. Takes months to get a reservation though there is a great Counter service. There's a reason it takes months. Start now! read more

This is probably my best food experience of 2024 and we eat out a lot. Service 10/10. We sat at the bar which I actually really liked and would do again. The bartenders were great and made sure to help provide recommendations and make sure we were taken care of. The people watching at this place is also 10/10 haha. I will absolutely be going back on my next trip to Austin. Red snapper crudo - 10/10, fresh and perfect Meatballs - 9/10, flavorful and delish but we ordered a lot and they are heavy so couldn't eat much of it but definitely worth getting Burrata and tomatoes - 100/10, so good!!! It's clear Red Ash cares about their ingredients. Everything is so fresh. Agnolotti - 9/10 - All of their pasta is worth it. They shine. Love that you can get half portions too so you can try more things. Frutti di mare - 1000/10, omggg so good. Fresh seafood and amazing flavor of pasta and sauce. Hot chocolate cake - 10/10, recommended by bartender. Melt in your mouth. Ultimate comfort dessert. read more

I have no words! This is by far one of the best meals I've had in Austin this year! So many of my friends have been hyping this place up for years, and I never had a chance to visit until now. The sweet hostess also gave me and my partner Chef's Table seats last minute, which was so nice of her. We love these types of experiences, and they definitely help us decide what to order. We ordered the following: Small butter clams "oreganata style": 5/5 Incredible flavor and super fresh! Loved that all the clams had parmesan crusted on top, reminds me of the chargrilled oysters from ACME in NOLA. Wood roasted beef bone marrow: 5/5 So creamy and delicious! The garlic bread was so good and I loved dipping it in the bone marrow. Agnolotti alla piemontese: 5/5 I loved the flavor and texture of this. The braised beef and pork shoulder was so fine and made the pasta so creamy. Frutti di mare: 5/5 This was my favorite dish. It really blew me away! The pasta was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. All the seafood was fresh and tasty. Tiramisu: 5/5 Huge portion! I was so full but with reservations being so difficult to get, I knew I needed to try this. It's not too sweet and I really liked the light crumble topping. Our server was great and made a lot of good recommendations. Thanks for the fantastic experience! It's now a goal to have a monthly standing reservation so I can try everything on the menu! read more
My dinner experience last night was nothing short of exceptional! Every morsel of the steak and pasta was a masterclass in flavor and texture. 30 day wet age - 10oz Beef Filet with fresh blue crab fonduta, wood grilled and sliced to perfection. Cacio e pepe spaghetti. Red Ash in Austin is pushing the boundaries of Italian cuisine.. make sure to add it to your bucket list!! We drive up there just to eat at this spot.. be sure to book your reservations well in advance, as they're always in high demand! Beautiful atmosphere and amazing service every time! read more

From the moment we walked into Res Ash, we were greeted with warm, chic vibes and a welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern and inviting--ideal for a special night out or an elevated dining experience. We started with the bone marrow, which was rich, buttery, and beautifully presented. For our main course, we shared the 20 oz, 30-day aged ribeye--expertly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and clearly cut in-house with care. The tagliolini with fresh blue crab was perfection--light, vibrant, and delicately balanced, with pasta made from scratch that melts in your mouth. Even our daughter's spaghetti and meatballs impressed us--comfort food elevated to fine dining status. A special shoutout to Kevin, our server, who was not only attentive and knowledgeable but made us feel truly at home. The service was just as memorable as the food. Everything from the fresh ingredients to the house-made pastas and hand-cut meats reflected the chef's commitment to quality and creativity. They shared their story with us that they import all their meat from a farm in Chicago. Whole beef and perfectly preparing all cuts in house. Using the wood fire just gives it the most perfect flavor. 10/10 experience--Red Ash is an absolute must in Austin. We're already looking forward to our next visit. read more

I looked on open table to make a reservation maybe 2 months ago and nothing was available so I asked to be notified if anything opened up and I got a few notifications randomly and jumped on it quick but oh my gosh it is so hard to snag a reso. I got super lucky the day before and managed to secure a spot at the bar that opened up. The restaurant itself is beautiful and had such nice intimate lighting. Definitely a good date night spot. Everything we ordered was so so good! We started off with the garlic bread and wood fired meatballs. The bread was soo yummy, very oily but in the best way and I loved the green onions on it. The meatballs were perfectly cooked and the polenta was very nice with it. I was super excited to try the pasta here knowing it's made in house and it did not disappoint! I got the small serving of the agnolotti which was similar to a ravioli and had braised beef and pork shoulder inside of the pasta and was topped with fresh truffles. The sauce was super savory and overall just delicious. I think me and my boyfriend enjoyed this dish the most out of everything we tried. He ordered the Tagliolini with blue crab and it was also very good. The pasta was perfect and the lemony butter sauce was amazing. There was a good amount of crab in the dish too. Lastly, we finished off with a complimentary dessert for my birthday and chose the hot apple crostata with salted caramel gelato and it was perfect. The gelato was so delicious and went perfectly with the apple crostata. Overall I loved Red Ash and I'm excited to explore more of the menu here! read more

Absolutely delicious food and drinks and excellent service. The manager told us that their meats are all farm raised, grass fed which is always a plus. Highly recommend the beet and orange salad, the asian pear salad. The osso bucco milanese was to die for so was the frutti di mare pasta. I had never tried carpaccio and liked it very much as well. Their molten chocolate cake was a home run. We will be back!!! read more
Finally snagged a reservation at Red Ash on a Tuesday night--and wow, it was packed! Despite booking in advance, we still waited about 15 minutes to be seated. We were seated upstairs, where the vibe was cozy and romantic--perfect for a night out. Our waiter (I apologize, I don't remember their name) knew the menu and was attentive! For drinks, we tried the Green Thumb and Signora in Rosa. The Green Thumb was refreshing with a nice kick of spice, while the Signora in Rosa looked lovely but was a bit lacking in flavor. For appetizers, we ordered the wood-roasted beef bone marrow, hot and crispy Italian bread, wood-roasted vine tomatoes with burrata, beet-orange-fennel salad, and the Asian pear and endive salad. The bone marrow was rich, creamy, and well-seasoned, pairing perfectly with the garlicky bread. The burrata was incredibly fresh and melted in your mouth, complementing the balsamic-glazed tomatoes beautifully. The salads were decent but not my favorite; I found the smoked pistachios in the beet salad a bit unusual. Next time, I'd probably opt for the classic Caesar. For entrees, we had the handmade potato gnocchi, frutti di mare (seafood pasta), and wild red snapper. The gnocchi was incredible--so pillowy and melt-in-your-mouth perfect, with just the right amount of cheese. The frutti di mare was flavorful, with a nice taste that wasn't overly salty, and the wild red snapper was tender, moist, and well seasoned. For dessert, we went with the hot chocolate gianduja cake; our waiters recommendation! This cake was decadent and delicious--warm, moist, and perfectly paired with coffee ice cream instead of the usual vanilla. Overall, I'd highly recommend Red Ash! One of Austins hottest restaurants. You definitely need to book your reservation months in advance but so worth it! This was my 4th time here and it never fails to make me love their food even more. The inside is so nice with chic vibes. The service is outstanding. They greet you and seat you right away and the waiter is very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We tried so many plates because it all just sounded amazing and we were precelebrating my birthday. To start the drink menu is great and offers a little of everything. They have a very nice wine list and they can help you choose depending on your palette. The steak i ordered with lump crab ontop was to die for. The steak literally melted in your mouth. Now this place is known for pasta too so we ordered a lovster ravioli with truffle and wow! This place is the best of both world when it comes to pasta and steak. We also got a delicious beet salad. If we could lick the plate we would of haha. The bone marrow is a must, and comes with delicious garlic bread they are famous for. Also tried the prosciutto with burrata and it was so creamy. Im not big on fish but the one we ordered was not fishy tasting at all and good. Last was the grilled octopus and they did an amazing job on it and was not chewy. At the end we got the tiramisu they offered me for my birthday and was perfect. Overall a great evening there. read more

Don't let the wait scare you! Plan ahead. Make a reservation. Enjoy one of the best meals you've ever had. We had a family style feast with the rigatoni, gnocchi, and risotto thrown in for good measure. Tijana was an outstanding guide for our first Red Ash experience and we have already make plans to go back. Still lots to explore! Great parking right across the street too. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! We are so glad that there was a cancellation and we were able to get a spot.You can tell this is the place to be when you call months prior and you can't get in, and there is people waiting outside for the doors to open at 5pm. We were seated at the bar and it was pretty cool watching the bartenders make all the amazing drinks. We ordered the beef carpaccio and the bread . The carpaccio was amazing,light and not too heavy. The bread was amazing so much flavor , garlic and olive oil and parsley. For entree's I went with the Frutti de Mar which had a little bit of everything even lobster and the sauce was so good and had a nice little kick to it. It comes served with black and white spaghetti. My husband ordered the days special. Which was pasta filled with beef and some amazing sauce. The food was amazing ! So good that we couldn't compare to it to anything here in our city. Oh and we couldn't leave without having dessert, we ordered the apple crostini and it was amazing! The crust just melts in your mouth and it came with a side of delicious vanilla ice cream. So good!!! Thank you for such a great meal and hope to visit you again soon. read more

Honestly, the only word I need to write in this review is "go". As with most, I had only heard good things about Red Ash and I was so excited to try it. There were (of course) no reservations so we decided to take our chances walking in. We got there at 5:00 on the dot and were able to snag a seat at the bar. I was told that I had to get the bread (garlic / grana / olive oil salmoriglio) and rightfully so-we had to grab seconds when our pasta came. For pasta, I went with the gnocchi (fresh cream / gorgonzola montagna / smoked prosciutto / chives) and it was stellar. I like that they offer different sizes of their pastas. Getting the smaller version, we were able to share different ones and get a variety! The couple next to us did order the large version and it was huge- definitely sharable as well. For dessert, we went with the hot apple crostata (crisp butter crust salted caramel swirl gelato) and I was not a fan. Apple desserts during fall are my go to and this one was fell extremely short. It was missing flavor-an addition of cinnamon and vanilla (and probably something else) would've served this dish well. The gelato, however, they should sell this by itself. I would buy it by the pint! Overall, definitely somewhere I would return to. read more
Must have reservation or walk in and hope to find open seating but I recommend a reservation ahead of time. The service is good. I honestly enjoy their non-pasta dishes more than their pastas. I feel like it's been hyped up quite a bit over the last few years. It's good but there isn't anything on the menu that blows my mind. read more

If I could sum up my dinner in one word it would be WOW! I did not have a reservation but as a solo diner was able to be sat at the bar with a 2 hour time limit to accomadate upcoming reservations. This window was more then enough time but if you are trying to get in without a reservation I would reccomend showing up as close to opening as possible. Now onto the review... Drinks: I started with "Give Me the Beet" cocktail which, contrary to the name, had a more tropical/refreshing flavour. If you are afraid to order it because you are not a beet person...don't worry! You get the vibrant beet color but none of that earthy beet taste. I followed that up with a glass of their Amarone which (not to be repetivite was WOW)...I'll touch more on how I landed on this wine when discussing service. Food: I don't think you can make a wrong choice with food which was confirmed to me by the two other solo diners I had the pleasure of making my acquantince with at the bar. Personally I started with the Red Snapper Crudo (light a refreshing but with a nice kick from the calabrian chilies), followed that up with the truly amazing Spaghettini Vongole (pictured), and ended my meal with the Olive Oil Cake (not super sweet and well complimented with by the marscopone and candided oranged...also pictured). My fellow solo diners would be remiss if I did not mention that the Wood Roasted Vine Tomatoes and Burrata and the Taglioni (both of them) were also phenomenal (no pictures because I am not creeping on someone elses meal!) Service: I snagged a seat at the bar and had some of the best bar service I have had in a long time. I feel that bar seating can sometimes be lacking in the service department as the bartenders have a lot to do...this was not the case at Red Ash. While the bartenders were extremely busy, they still took the time to check in on their diners and provide keen and clear service. My bartender was Christina and she gave the explemary service that you would expect for a place at this price point. She gave me really great food reccomendations and then I threw the "I think I want wine" curveball at her she provided food based reccomendations with amazing notes and suggestions. The Amarone that I mentioned in drinks would not have happened without her and damn does it pair perfectly with the Olive Oil Cake. Additionally I want to mention that while I do not have any allergies, a number of the patrons around me did and Christina provided direct substitutions to accomadate them without severly limiting the menu. I was really impressed how she navigated different dietary restrictions while maintianing the integrity of the menu. I genuinely cannot sing her praises enough!! Ambiance: The ambiance was lovely if not a bit crowded but, at least at the bar, this crowding was actually a really great opportunity for connection and conversation. As noted, I was a solo diner sat at the bar around other solo diners, the close quarters paired with visually pleasing food naturally led to converstation that only elevated my dining experience. Overall I highly reccomend Red Ash but would reccomend that you make a reservation in advance! read more
The is my second time at this restaurant and I will tell you I cannot express enough how I could not wait for it to reopen and get back to Austin so I could go again. It was just as good as I remembered it. And now I cannot wait to go again. The service was impeccable. The recommendations were spot on. Steak was cooked to perfection. Had the snapper crudo, filet with the crab/cheese topping and the rigatoni and a nice French wine. Josh was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the menu. We were there on a Friday night. Although very busy and he had many tables, he was very attentive. It's a loud busy restaurant. So if you are looking for something quiet and romantic. This is probably not your spot. read more

I adore Red Ash. It's an Austin staple that never disappoints. It's one of my longtime favorite restaurants but it's a pricey place so I only go on special occasions. We decided to go this year for Vday. The service was impeccable and the food was a delight for the senses. The server provided wonderful recommendations that made for a wonderful evening. My hubby wasn't feeling adventurous so I didn't get to try the carpaccio or the bone marrow but I was pleasantly surprised with the light and airy buttery taste of the squash blossoms. The steak was perfectly cooked and it went perfect with the blue crab pasta. The chocolate cake was the icing on top. Well worth the splurge for a fun date night! read more
We finally made it to Red Ash, and we were curious to see if this was an over hyped restaurant or actually worth it. My boyfriend and I actually really enjoyed the food. For appetizers I got the Burrata and he got the meatballs both which were great. And for the mains we got pasta. The "bishops hat" was really good and their only vegetarian option for pastas I won't say it was something I haven't had before but I still enjoyed it a lot. My boyfriend got the rigatoni which he liked but he LOVED the agnolotti. For dessert the chocolate lava was DIVINE! Only complaint, as a vegetarian I wish they had more than one vegetarian pasta dish or at-least able to tweak or take out a meat component to make the other pastas veggie friendly. Our service was great, we were shocked at how loud and full it was even on a Monday night. We would definitely come back for special occasions! read more
I understand the hype and why you have to make a reservation months in advance to eat here - Red Ash is one of the top Italian restaurants I've been to in Austin. They make their pasta fresh, in-house daily and you can tell! Everything from appetizers to dessert was delicious. I recommend trying the Bruschetta of Prime Steak Trimmings for an app, they were mouth watering. Got the Spaghetti Alla Chitarra for my meal and it was 10/10. I went for my birthday and received a card signed by all the employees which was very unique and thoughtful and free scoops of yummy gelato! Exceptional service. read more

Everything I've heard about this place came true today. Service: Nick was phenomenal. Very attentive and had fantastic recommendations. Wow!! My family and I had my birthday dinner here last night. The experience was a 10 out of 10! Jacob was our server. He was thorough, professional and had great suggestions for the menu. The ambiance in this restaurant is like no other. The lights, the artwork on the walls, the layout, the smell of the wood burning fire, and the aromas of each meal coming out! We sat upstairs where the lights were dimmed. The room was really cool! Whether you're with family, friends or on a date night, this place is for you! The food.... Where do I begin? Garlic bread- AMAZING! Must try whether you like bread or not. It's the best out there! The flavors of each dish were great. Everyone literally tried a little from each plate because the flavors were so delicious. At our table... Hot & Crispy Country Italian Bread, Wedge chopped salads, Cold Water Lobster Tails "Scampi Style," Wood Grilled Beef Filet, Spaghetti Alla Chitarra, Capellitti "Bishops Hat", Hot Cream Filled Donuts, Hot Apple Crostata and house made Sorbetti. This was a night we won't forget. Everything was wonderful. If you've never been then make sure you book reservations in advance. We were booked about a month out. Do they take walk-ins or is it reservations only?
I think you could possibly walk in, but they are usually booked 2+ weeks out. Best move is to get on the stand by list on open table in case someone cancels.
Does Red Ash have valet parking?
Sometimes, but there's a public garage around the corner that's usually no more than $10 too.
Is there an email address to contact this restaurant at for large party reservations etc?
Does Red Ash allow you to bring wine? If so, what is the corkage fee?
Outside wine is not allowed.
Are kids allowed? What's the dress code?
Never seen kids but that's true of many Atx restaurants. That doesn't mean they aren't allowed. I'm sure they are welcome. Dress is however you want. Smart casual, shorts (on a hot day) or jacket would all be fine.
How closely are people seated? Is the space quite tight? I'm worried about proximity to others due to Covid.

I believe so. I'm not a vegetarian, but the bishops hats don't have any meat and are one of my favorite dishes.
