My server was Rainey. She made my experience here stellar. She took care of me and was very patient. I had the lunch special: 2 rolls for $8.99 and a Tokyo roll. There was a small glitch with the fried crisps but Rainey corrected it. She gave me lemons, Ponzu sauce, and Sriracha sauce without a problem. She refilled my Diet Coke and offered a to go cup. Tokyo roll was good. The Alaskan roll was good. The clear soup was a little salty. The fried scallop roll was delicious and made me smile. I wish I ordered more. This was good but Red Bowl has declined. We ordered spring roll ( the was literally nothing in the rol) and summer rolls to start. I can't imagine who made this mess. It was mostly lettuce..but was sooo loose wrapped and stuck together that you could not pick it up by hand. I eat these all the time at Thai Erwan in Ormond and they are fantastic. Red bowl should be ashamed. The moo shu pork was salty and the pancakes..just on a plate were cold, cracking, and un-foldable. The 1 star goes to the shrimp chow main. At one point I evidently had dropped my paper napkin on the floor. An employee picked it up off the floor and asked if I wanted it. Hello? Anyway. So sad as Red Bowl is off the list. read more

Really nice place; clean, great good and excellent value. Four of us had dinner. We ordered spring rolls to start. They were nicely cooked and loaded with fresh vegetables. For the main course we had a chicken and broccoli dish, curry chicken, beef and vegetables, and chicken lo mein. All of the dishes were prepared perfectly and came to the table hot off the wok. Protein portions were plentiful and vegetable variety was very good. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Service was above average. We will definitely return in the future. read more

I came by with a colleague today and they have dropped in my view. The menu was sticky and I was uncomfortable after a while. I've ordered here before but I guess I get a different reaction as take out. The last time I ordered something off the lunch menu similar to a beef and veggies and I had such a hard time eating it because it had so much oil. This time around I ordered the sushi A which was a few nigiri and also a set of tuna rolls. They were okay. I wouldn't rave about it but it was okay. Someone needs to check in on the bathrooms though in there especially since this is a restaurant. Someone had left a mess in there and it was badddd. read more

I have to give it 5 stars because it exceeded my expectations. Any ethnic restaurant will have a hard time here in Ormond. If you only have one type of food say Indian, it is a good chance that there isn't enough demand to keep the lights on. It is common for really good places like Leanh's in Daytona to doing different cuisines all under the umbrella of Asian. Leanh's offers Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean. Thai Wood House does Pho even. Being that I expected some fusion or a mix of different Asian foods to be served here, and for the food to be good quality, they met my expectations. Where they really exceeded them was their service and their decor. Despite the negative reviews: 1) The restaurant is beautiful. The kitchen has a big glass so that you can actually see the people making your food. It is clean. It is worth just coming inside for the decor. 2) I got there on a Sunday morning 40 minutes before they opened. They were all smiles and they gave me a great lunch meal for less than 10 dollars. They got a little sheepish when I whipped out my phone to take pictures but all in all, I support this place as it brings more Ethnicity and awesomeness to our city. :) Keep up the good jobs and make each encounter with your customers as good as mine. read more

I have to remember, this is just my opinion and should be taken with a grain of "soy sauce". Last time I was in Red Bowl I thought it was quite good but things have changed. I won't comment of the service as it is Christmas Eve and it was mobbed. So I will limit this to food. I was hoping for a Chinese restaurant and found it was a mix of Chinese, Thai and Japanese and usually if you mix cuisines none come out good. Such as this case. We started with an eggroll each. House made, fat and cooked properly. The best thing we had tonight. Next up, "Hot & Sour" soup which was neither hot nor sour. Thinking this would be the case I had asked the wait person to bring both chili sauce and vinegar. "Vinegar?" she said, "I don't think we have that." Oh-oh! Ask one of the cooks... and she came back with some. There was no tree ears, bamboo shreds or pork in the soup and it lacked flavor. But there was carrots, peas, white mushrooms and celery in it. My wife ordered Sweet & Sour Pork and when it came it was a small plate of battered pork and nothing else... not even the sauce! Come on now! Our wait-person had to go back and get the sauce. Where was the veggies or pineapple or both? That should get a one star but it is Christmas Eve. My order was for Moo Shu Shrimp with pancakes. What I got was various vegetables and shrimp floating in a brown sauce AND tortillas. The moo shu was lacking any Asian Vegetable but the flavor was OK and the shrimp were not overcooked. I attempted to use a tortillas but it totally disintegrated when the wet, (and drained), moo shu was added maybe the hoisen caused it? Also Ma Pao Tofu was ordered. Again, it is supposed to be spicy. This had no kick whatsoever. No Szechua peppercorns ever saw this and it was also lacking ground pork, garlic, ginger, chopped water chestnuts and tree ears. What it did have was peas and carrots! I really hate to be critical, especially on Christmas Eve but I feel Red Bowl is a restaurant to be avoided, at least for Chinese cuisine. We will not be returning. read more

First time here and I liked what I saw. The workers all had masks and gloves on. I ordered two lunch specials. I am new to the area, Coming from NY it's hard to find good Chinese food in Florida. My husband enjoyed his shrimp and lobster sauce. He said it was pretty good. Not New York but it's the best so far since living in Florida. I had shrimp lo mein. Very good and not overly salty which I like. The portions were a nice size. Ate our lunch special for dinner and had leftovers for lunch. I would go again and try something different. During the pandemic we have had take out from here 3 different times and all three there were good and bad parts. Disclaimer, prior to the pandemic we are in and always were happy. We have had burnt egg fu young that they knew was burnt because they put the the burnt side down, really? Just make it again. Yellow tail tuna sushi that smelled and tasted sketchy, ate only one. This was maybe my fault for ordering but don't order the tuna tempura. Over cooked dry tuna. Not great. The egg rolls have changed too. Used to have crisp cabbage, carrots, pork and whatever else they put in a large wonton wrapper, now they are spring roll size and only mush in the middle. I love their food (Ormond location) but I will tell you that the portions are extremely small and they are pricey. The last few times I ordered I used Door Dash and the food just gets skimpier and skimpier and the boneless ribs were dry and they're usually the bomb. I didn't take photos but I should have. I have honestly had better sushi at Publix. It was absolutely awful. The spicy salmon roll was minced. Dud not taste like salmon at all. If you are serving good quality salmon why mince it. Our dinners for 18 dollars had 2 shrimp and small portion of chicken flavorless and the fried rice was yellow Spanish rice you get at a bad Take-out Chinese restaurant. Save your money. Bad experience. Ordered delivery for Kung Pao Chicken extra spicy, along with soup and wontons. Maybe they thought I said no spice. Anyway, the food arrived with no spice and no hot peppers. Very bland. Also the restaurant probably did not understand my English and sent the driver to another city. The driver called me and said he was lost; I had to give him directions in three separate calls. Anyway, it took him an hour before he got to the house. The food was cold. This restaurant opened while my wife and I were out of town. Upon our return, there was a "20% off your entire meal" coupon in our mailbox, so we decided to try it out. The restaurant is nicely decorated and was quite busy. We were seated promptly and the waitress came to take our order. We asked some basic questions about what vegetables came with certain dishes and it became clear that she didn't know. After checking with the kitchen, she returned with the info and we made our choices. Pretty much, what she had told us turned out not to be true, but there was nothing offensive or weird in the dishes, so we ate them. Neither dish was particularly good, with both drowning in overly sweet brown sauce. We finished up, gave the waitress the 20% coupon, and asked for the check. She told us that the manager had to approve the coupon. Start of rant Businesses that spend money to invite new customers via coupons and then try to make the customers feel uncomfortable about using the coupon are missing the point, aren't they? End of rant We waited while a different waitress brought us someone else's check TWICE ! Finally, we got up and found our waitress who presented us with a check with no discount shown. She explained that the manager had deducted 20% from each individual item before totaling. I looked at the numbers and asked her why they appeared to be identical to the prices on the menu. We then proceded to speak with the manager who reluctantly deducted 20%, with no apology for trying to cheat us. One of my pet peeves in Florida (or other rural areas) are the one-size-fits-all Asian restaurants. Red Bowl obviously specializes (looking at the chef specialities) in Chinese food. Despite that, I ordered their Thai green curry and spring rolls and their "Chinese" orange chicken along with one of their speciality "sushi" rolls. None of the items were worth writing home about but the orange chicken was passable. If the owners are in fact Chinese, I would expect them to stick with what they know. Red Bowl is one of those restaurants that offer a catalog for a menu - selling everything from Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, Sushi, Japanese, and American. I'm usually cautious of these types of places because I feel you should pick one thing you're good at, and do it really well. I was right - we should have gone somewhere else. This review is mostly focusing on the sushi and service, or lack thereof. The bad service included the usual 'no water refills, lack of visits to the table, and missing utensils'. But this experience also included the waitress (who spoke broken English) bringing us a Dragon roll when we ordered the Jaguar roll (they sounded the same to her). No apologies or remedies were offered for her mistake, and we didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for them to correct the order so we began to eat what was served. Between our party of six, we ordered 18 rolls total (each at least $11 per roll), and found them all to be tasteless and loosely rolled (signs of an inexperienced, or lazy, chef). Also our plates didn't showcase any of the "art flair" they advertise on their website (*refer to lazy chef). If you're gonna charge Ronin prices for sushi, you better serve Ronin quality rolls! read more
