A local spot to grab a pint with your pie. There's indoor and outdoor dining. You can also order delivery. The pizza is tasty because of the sourdough crust. My history with Redboy pizza started in the early days in San Francisco when they were starting out. The pizza back then was top notch and it continues today with an amazing legacy of superior taste and quality. I lost my wallet on an airplane and its in transit, however, no cash or ability to pay for a pizza at 1am as my wife and I are Starving, I took a chance and called Redboy pizza in San Rafael and spoke to Luciano the "saint", and I explained my situation with a promise to pay in cash on Wednesday. Not only was Luciano warm, kind and authentic beyond belief, he never hesitated to take care of us, of course we were in his data base as we are frequent fans. The most important point my wife and I want to convey, was Lucianos Human kindness, the kind of decency and care that I remember customer service used to be back in the good old days. The crust is tasty. Otherwise it is good, serviceable pizza, tasty but not pretentious.

Been going here more often lately. Much better service and employees and the pizza improved greatly since my last review years ago. Only complaint really is the ambiance. There's occasionally loud foul-mouthed drunks there in the evening which is awkward when families are there eating. I usually order in advance so I can just walk in and pick it up quickly. Also it's expensive but as to be expected in Larkspur where nothing is really worth buying anymore. read more

Wow, the pizza here is fantastic. I recently moved to Larkspur and have been adventuring to all the fancy pizza spots, but hadn't made it here yet. I honestly wasn't sure since the reviews were so mixed. I have no idea who didn't enjoy this pizza, but I was blown away. The crust is sourdough and delicious plus #guthealth. It has this amazing crust forming on the edge and bottom that's tastes like perfection. I feel with a lot of fancy pizzas, I need to eat like half to even lightly feel full, but this thing was so packed with toppings, I could barely finish two slices I was so full of pizza. I opted for the Red Boy Special and I was not disappointed. This will definitely be my new go to! read more

Not allowed to go inside and order months ago since one of the regulars complained about my talking about politics.

Note: 3 stars (instead of 2, because I'm aware I'm cranky during the pandemic, and everyone is going thru a lot of sht....and I still got 2 meals out of it.) I'm trying to support places through covid and I remembered this one from growing up - figured I should support an old haunt, but holy hell... "Underwhelming" is charitable, there's really no structure/crisp to support the slice period, for a pepperoni pizza, there was minimal pepperoni. Even after reheating in oven, the crust at its thickest parts seemed undercooked (which approached 1/3rd of pizza in a lot of slices). Really, I don't know what crust other people were raving about, maybe it was an off night, but it was a Tuesday and they sure didn't seem busy...at least it was ready on time. To the owner/manager: Buy your staff ACTUAL masks AND enforce their use. This is not the time to be sloppy, thanks. Parting note - granted, its literally been 20 years, but FYI they don't seem to use the same quality pepperoni, and abandoned using cornmeal for the bottom. read more

Red Boy is a larkspur staple. Here i typically get a straight-up pepperoni pizza - the combination of the chewy crust, tangy sauce, and crisped pepperoni is the reason I always come back. Nothing fancy, but it hits exactly right you want it to. read more

One horrible experience after another! Not going back to this dump again. 8:30pm We placed an order for extra large vegetarian. After opening it at home almost a third of the pizza pie was just thick uncooked bread crust. Only the middle had some black olives, and celery cuts, little mushrooms! 9:15pm Called the store to complain. The person on the other side said "that is how we cook our crust!" which was not correct. I asked is this how you take responsibility for your pizza? He said "Do what you want to do" and hung up! __Called again and asked to speak with a manager, the same voice said "No manager, if you donot like pizza we refund ..." and Hung up again!! Not going back and going to dispute the charges with credit card.. Experience No 2. Two weeks ago we went to pick up the order, there were four big guys no masks, standing there at the door chatting and laughing with the manager, and blocking the door while drinks in hands! No social distancing possible, no way to get in and get the order, had to wait in the car for 15 minutes till they back off and move away. read more

I really want to like this pizza parlor more. I've given them a first, second, and third chance over the years. And each time I walk away a decent slice. And although it only costs me $4.75 for a generous slice of pepperoni, I can't help but feel underwhelmed by their food. Like I said, the pizza is fine (nothing to write home about). And I appreciate that they offer slices to go. However, their pizza never tastes like it came out piping hot from the oven. It's clearly been sitting around for a while under a heat lamp (which just isn't the same). It would be great if they could at least pop the slice in the oven for a few minutes to reheat it (like they do at Stefano's down the street). As we all know, there's really no such thing as bad pizza. After all, it's hard to go wrong with melted cheese, tomato sauce and fresh toppings on a chewy home made crust. But I'll be honest - it's hard to get excited about pizza that's luke warm at best, with barely any sauce, and cheese that's more rubbery than melted. Long story short- I would definitely give Red Boy another chance down the road. And maybe next time, I'll have more luck buying a whole pizza as opposed to just a quick slice. read more

Ordered X-large specialty Pizza for friends Birthday party. Pizza looked like it had been sitting for a long time , all the meat and veggies were flat on top of a sparing amount of sauce and cheese that taste like cardboard. The staff acted like they were doing me a favor for taking my order and stood to one side bs'ing. I had to ask for my pizza that had actually been sitting on the counter for a period of time. There were no other customers the whole time I was there. I wonder how long my pizza would have sat had I not asked? Again, Pizza taste like cardboard and the waitresses might as well have been cardboard. $32.00 for an X-large Pizza I was embarrassed to deliver to my friends Birthday Party. They lied to us about a pizza delivery that after 2+ hours of being MIA, we cancelled and requested a credit. After 7 days no credit has posted to our account. Rather than work through their mistake honorably, they attempted to put my family on the do not call list, the manager refused to talk to us, although we could hear him in the background, and their best response was "this is your problem not ours. it must be your bank". We had bought pizza here every Thursday night for over a year and we will never do so again. read more

I get there 50 mins after the order is made and the guy tells me they haven't even started it and that it will be at least another 20 minutes that they are running 60-80 minutes for pickup. We just moved to Larkspur and are trying various restaurants. Were in the mood for Pizza and decided to try Red Boy for carry out. Unlikely to return. Starting with the positive, they appear to be using fresh ingredients. We ordered the Special. The 2 young men working were friendly enough initially. Here's where this place falls down. 1) Very we'll positioned sign saying "masks required " Great, we're in the middle of a holiday Omicron surge. Unfortunately neither employee wore a mask and while I was waiting for my pizza, about a third of the customers walked in without masks. One guy even walked behind the counter to get a drink for himself. Must be a locals place. I am not suggesting that two young employees become mask police, but expected more in Marin County. 2) I was handed my pizza and told it was a medium special.....which is what I ordered. Because I had to wait longer than I had been told, I didn't check. My mistake! 3) Got home and opened the box. Clearly not my order. Called and they said they'd get it right. I thought that meant a new pizza. Nope....,when I returned my pizza had been sitting there.....I'm now an hour late for the family dinner and took it. Of course it was soggy. I love their slices. I almost cried when the Marin City Redboy franchise shut down. Is it the next great gourmet pizza? Heck no. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about an old fashioned slice and it's as good as a standard ol' fashion slice gets. 1,000% better than the Stefanos slice in Mill Valley that I have no idea who or why anyone would buy a 2nd time. & 1/2 stars. This place gets a solid 4 stars! After reading prior reviews I was a bit skeptical but this little parlor delivered. The crust had that sour tang that I love and was the right thickness that held the toppings and a good sauce. We built our own pizza that included salami, sausage and really great kalamata olives. Also tried the wings. They were meaty but noting to brag about. Best part of this place is the price! Great deal for a really good pizza! I spent way too much dough on your sourdough crust--which one might expect to be strangely amazing but which is actually pretty weird-as-in-off and mediocre. I had been being tempted by the smell that would waft out of this pizza place every time I walk by it. So finally I decide to go in. It smells "old school pizza dough' and seemed to promise satisfaction. I ordered a large veggie and some garlic bread. Place was clean , bathroom was clean. I make homemade pizza and pizza dough when I have time and I have also had really great pizza in NYC, Los Angeles and Chicago and this pizza smelled full of promise. The texture of the bread was good, not to chewy not to rough however the pizza under the toppings was soggy, the sauce was bland as well as the crust. Unfortunately I was disappointed The garlic bread was good,baked just right ,a little light on the garlic but it tasted good and the middle was soft and the crust crispy but not hard however I think they use oil to brush it now butter, if they would have used butter it would have been great. The Asian man who served us plated our order before I could specify that I wanted it to-go. When I asked for it to-go I was told, "You just wasted four of my plates." I'm sorry, what? I was looking forward to some good pizza because I remembered it being the best in the past. Unfortunately, everything about this place was bad. My husband said it looks identical to when he came here high school thirty years ago. It was just a lot dirtier. Dirty floors, dirty tablecloths, dirty kitchen. Don't even think of using the nasty bathroom / storage room. The staff were very unprofessional - not good comminicators, too loud, too casual, very slow to clear tables. I know this is a casual place, but it just wasn't good. The salad was not fresh with a bunch of wilted leaves. Generic not-so-great Italian dressing from a bottle. Luckily this was removed from my bill. About $20 for a large cheese pizza. The pizza took a really long time to get to our table, and it wasn't even cooked all the way. The bottom wasn't even slightly browned. Later during our meal I heard the girl telling the other guy making the pizza that someone else's to-go pizza was also underdone. The cheese tasted funny, and it just wasn't good. They were pretty heavy handed with the cheese too. I don't know what happened to the old, tasty Red Boy Pizza.
