Very Rude, bad Service.My kids and I walked in here tonight to first check out the menu, before the three of us were even all the way in the door, a lady from behind the counter shouted to me asking, if it was for here or to go. I said I didnt know yet and asked to see a menu, after deceicing to order I said for here and she pointed to a table for us to go sit. I simply asked the server if I can just get a plate with chow mein and orange chicken, and she cut me off saying they didn't have that very rudly, I said ok just give me chow mein and orange chicken however you serve it, she again cut me off and said very rudly, saying again that they didn't have that when all over the menu, I can see all kinds of chow mein and chicken! Then she started pointing all over the menu with her hands all over the place saying God knows what. I don't mess with rude service, she didn't even ask what we wanted to drink first. So I told her never mind we won't be eating here thank you, and left. Went next door to Jose's mexican food where the service was great and food was good! I decided I wanted some Szechuan cuizine and decided to swing by here to get some food to go. When you walk in you can smell the food right away. I saw what other people were eating and knew I had come to the right place. The menu is massive. There are so many dishes to use from it can be overwhelming. I decided to use a skill that people have been doing for years when they run into a problem like this... I decide to go off of the pictures!! I eventually settled on the R15 Deep Fried Fish. One because the picture looked aweome. The other was because the only other reviewer states it was a must try. Thanks Aspen H. I also ordered Crab Rangoon, my meal if I am to die. My way of checking to see if an establishment can cook really good food. If you can make great Crab Rangoon (in my opinion) then you must make good food. I asked for two orders of the Deep Fried Fish. One spicy (how it normally comes I think?) and one not so spicy for the wife. After a few language issues I was able to get the Crab Rangoon too. (they thought I was saying Chicken Wings... not sure if this was racist or not... since Crab Rangoon and Chicken Wings sound nothing alike. lol. I honestly think it was just a language issue though.) Took maybe 10 minutes for them to make. I was told that the spicy one is marked. Then was asked if the spicy one is for me or someone else. I told them me and heard a slight chuckle... is this a warning?? Took the food home and open my styrofoam clams and the awesome spells of Deep Fried fish in super red chili peppers, geen vegetables and cumin. The smells coming off of this dish was just superb. I check my Crab Rangoon and decided to eat them first. I was surprised how cheesy they were. This isn't a good thing. They were not bad per se... I mean they are made with cream cheese. But the cheesiness was so strong (is that a word... cheesiness??) That I couldn't finish them. This was a bad sign normally for an establishment in my eyes. Luckly the Deep Fried fish completly knocked it out the park. Great seasoning on fish. The taste was awesome. The only problem, way too many red chillies, and only because I couldn't eat the vegetables the way I wanted due to the chillies. I ate them anyway, and man it was spicy. Almost too spicy but because the rest of the dish was so good it was like hurting yourself to make yourself feel so good. If the Crab Rangoon was good they would have received 5 stars. Impromptu Thanksgiving lunch brought us here. One of the few businesses willing to make some money that day. As much as I want to be thankful for them being open I cannot be thankful for their food. Chili hot wings, Mongolian beef, and walnut shrimp all for $29. Possibly the worst hot wings ever. Tasteless burnt dry pieces of chicken tossed in MSG, jalapeños, and dried red chilis. How can a place mess up a staple like Mongolian beef? This place did. Dry chewey beef sautéd with MSG, onions, bell pepper, jalapeños, dried red chilis. The sauce is overly sweet and too caramelly. Finally the worst walnut shrimp I've had. Dry shriveled shrimp in a tangy yellow mayonnaise based sauce that was again too sweet. Sorry to burst all the bubbles out there but this is half-assed chinese food for a lot more than its worth. However this is San Bernardino county so I guess I'm not too disappointed. read more

The Szechuan style portion of the menu is absolutely delicious. The fried fish is perfectly battered and comes out crispy and piping hot. I can't get enough of it! The mabo tofu is delicious as well, and comes in a well portioned helping! The string beans (green beans) covered in red chili is delicious as well, with the delectable crunch. The Szechuan pepper leaves your tongue numb, but that's how you know it's great! Under a secret cover they have all of the cold authentic parts that aren't eaten by Americans! Intestines, ect. I came once before with a friend who found this place through Yelp. I drove by the grand opening sign facing California Rd. a dozen times but never considered trying it out. I had no complaints and was glad I found a place I could swing by whenever I had a hankering for some no fuss Chinese food. Today, my second visit, I'd been craving Chinese food all day and as I was driving home I remembered Red Chilli. I made a quick detour and popped in for take out. The wait was quick and the food was piping hot! I love the generous serving sizes and everything has been tasty! The chicken and green beans (or as the menu says "sting peas" ???) is sauteed in a black bean sauce and was my favorite! The veggie fried rice comes with an assortment of veggies: snowpeas, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, bean sprouts and zucchini! I tried the orange chicken once and the citrus was way overpowering but it was white meat so that trumped the orange overload. I haven't had Mapo tofu in a while, so i got this as part pf the 6.99 lunch special: Egg Drop Soup: Decent, but a but bland for my taste. It had a hint of sweetness that made me think there might be some corn in there. Egg roll: Small egg roll, about same size as typical Filipino lumpia. Like the soup, decent but a bit bland. Mapo Tofu: VERY spicy - the sauce was basically just red chili oil. Lots of soft tofu, but I couldn't find any ground pork. I'm not sure if its because I am used to the Japanese version or what, but I wasn't really that excited. I just picked at it a bit, and then gave up. All I can really say is YASSS!! But really, after searching and searching for authentic asian cuisine, this place takes me home. My friends and I struggle a lot since there isn't a great selection of asian food around Redlands. We try to make it a tradition to come out here pretty often. Green Onion Pancake: Always a must, but sometimes they under cook it and it's more dough-y than other times. But it's a perfect snack for later if you have left overs! Chow Fun (w/ any meat): So far, their best choice in noodle dishes and it's very filling. Not too salty or too wet. It's our usual noodle dish since it comes with any meat, or shrimp, and a good amount of veggies String beans (w/o chicken): Love these string beans! The sauce is really good. I think it'd be a great dish for kids to get their vegetables! Honey Walnut Shrimp: Not my favorite here. The way they fry their shrimp is too bread-y. The sauce was good, but there was more mayo than I would prefer. The bread texture really throws me off. Wonton Soup: I love the broth they use and the vegetables taste fresh but the wontons were pretty weak and didn't taste too fresh. Always a great place to come with a group of people, or even just 2! Note that they also deliver!!! I always forget to take advantage of that. I've never tried any of the smoothies, but I'm sure I will next time. Also, I love the staff here. They make sure to check on us pretty often even though they're pretty busy with phone orders and other people coming in. They are also very generous with their proportions which is perfect because I always have leftovers for the next day! I don't know the Szechuan style completely but I believe the entrees didn't come with enough meat. They were noticeably packed with veggies. The waiters are rather inexperienced, awkwardly handing out plates and forgetting to refill water even though it wasn't that busy of a day. We had to ask for fortune cookies, and although I don't want to seem cynical, I gained the impression that this place is rather greedy since the prices are on the higher end with small portions with it. Location/Ambiance: Red Chilli is located in a shopping center near Walmart in Redlands but once you walk inside you will find yourself in a nicely decorated, clean restaurant that is very comfortable. Very modern feeling. Food: My wife ordered the vegetable plate and I ordered the eggplant casserole with a side of eggdrop soup. The Eggdrop soup was nice and thick with plenty of egg and kind of spicey. The eggplant was very unique; it wasn't too fishy, it had a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The vegetables had a soy sauce base but everything was very fresh. Overall I would rate this as a 4.5 due to the funky water. The food was fantastic and extremely fresh. This place is good. Its not as good as some of the places you can find in Alhambra, Monterrey Park or Arcadia. I suppose the bright side is we have a fairly authentic Chinese restaurant in Redlands. Took my mother in law there who was born and raised in Xian. She was not that impressed mostly because she didn't care for the spiciness of the food. My wife and I will probably come again at some point. Their menu has American Chinese food as well as the real stuff so if you like Chinese food you will probably like this place. Can't speak much for the orange chicken type of food there. We stuck with the more traditional Chinese menu. We did enjoy the Mapo Tofu and really like the Singapore Noodles. I felt like the Dan Dan noodles were a little on the oily side and my wife thought they were too spicy. We also really liked the shreeded sweet and sour potato. This place is not kidding about the spicy part. Lots of chilis. I really like spice so no complaints but if you aren't into spicy food make sure to pay attention to what you order. Taro smoothie is overpriced but very good. They have coupons on the take out menus sitting outside the door. They give you grief if you try to use them so that is minus one star. Also minus a star because a lot of the appetizers that were in the pictures here on yelp were not there. (no chicken feet etc.) Service was pretty good and it was reasonably priced.
