Its been so bad the past decade that we decided to give it another chance. Different management, different chefs, different everything basically. The fried flounder was so fried that I could not separate the bones, not only that, you could barely get any meat out of it. Our table had nine people and they only provided 6 buns with our peking duck. I thought they didn't have enough steamer space and was going to bring more but nope. The shrimp in their salted egg pumpkin and shrimp dishes was overcooked and their deep fried pig intestines were extremely stinky. Their portion sizes downsized like crazy and it's so bad that we didn't even finish any of the dishes. The best dish was a stir fry cauliflower dish that I could make at home. It was supposed to come with pork, but I only saw itty bitty pieces of meat. The service was also super bad and slow. I was eating their fried rice and bit on a piece of broken yellow plastic with multiple sharp points. Prior to that, I was feeding my toddler the rice so THANKFULLY it didn't go to him. When we told the server, which was an older lady with glasses and bangs, she's like oh... then she took it to the kitchen and pretended that nothing had ever happened when she came back out. Shes been there for years, and I remember seeing her when we were regulars. I wasn't expecting anything, except for some accountability. I used to love this place so it's pretty sad to see how much it went downhill.... This business needs to be scrapped. The current 3 stars is giving them too much credit and it must have been due to when they used to be good, in the past.

To my surprise, there were enough items to fulfill my dim sum craving: 4 siu mai - larger than normal 2 har gow - skin did not fall apart 1 baked cha siu bau - good amount of filling 1 pineapple bun filled with custard 2 sesame balls - crispy on the outside When I asked for the pineapple bun, I thought cha siu was inside, but it was custard. As for the sesame balls, I was lucky to get them because it was from a big order where there was only 2 left. Unfortunately, there were no more egg tarts left, but I wasn't surprised given the time of day. Overall, I enjoyed the food and would stop by again, hopefully, earlier. Things to note: Cash only. No dining in. No bathrooms. Must ask for sauces and utensils.

Adj: dependably and predictably ok Chinese food…read more We've been coming here for Chinese meals both sit down and take out from when they used to be Holiday Villa. That was decades ago. About 10 or so years ago, they changed ownership or rather they went through what seems like several changes and then they became Lucky Jade which is kind of a chain but not exactly. I recall at one time, the workers wear shirts that look kind of like uniforms with another store's name on the back with address and phone numbers, so apparently Lucky Jade is owned by people who also own a few other Chinese restaurants but not by the same exact name. In any case, Chinese food can be pretty formulaic, so it's not really that hard to have consistency as long as the cooks know how to make common standard dishes, the taste generally would not be too different. This is true for Lucky Jade. We had take out recently and got a chow fun, a chow mein, and a broccoli beef. The first was quite tasty, on the oily side but I've not found any place able to make it not too oily and still yummy so it's necessary for this dish. Then there's the chow mein, this one was not good. Kind of non descript and the oil tasted oil (reused). Not too greasy which is my biggest complaint of chow mein from elsewhere like New Lai Wah, but again, this did not taste fresh. Finally, the broccoli beef was overcooked. Broccoli was not quite mushy but almost, still a little bit of crunch but you can see they were turning yellow. And the beef was so chemically tenderized (hopefully only with baking soda and not worse) bc it was also almost mushy. Wasn't cheap either, but on par with other Chinese restaurants around here for take out. I think I'll just tell my in laws they can just order from Bel Air Hot Chinese food deli on Florin Rd which is in the same plaza and they'd pay less and the food would actually taste better with fresher oil (probably not reused) and better quality beef that doesn't need to be tenderized to a questionable quality. The noodles tasted fine, but the portion was quite small. The fish bone porridge was extremely bland--I could barely taste any fish. After looking at the regular menu, I noticed that a plain porridge costs about $5, and a similar pan-fried noodle dish is only around $14-15. Based on those menu prices, the $30 combo did not seem to offer good value and felt significantly overpriced. I would definitely recommend the restaurant for its food, but I also recommend checking the menu prices before accepting any off-menu or verbally recommended specials so you know exactly what you're paying for.

The Garlic String Beans were definitely my favorite, I love eating Beef Tripe Dim Sum with ginger, I only wished the chili oil was a bit more spicy, the Chives Shrimp Dumplings were decent, and lastly the stuff peppers, well unique but not stuffed. Menu items are more consistent now where as in the past the portion size would vary based off of your party size as I noticed before when ordering entree items. One time we had a party of two and ordered a dish and was smaller than when visiting with a party of 4. Same price you're paying you should get the same size portion regardless. Kings has made improvements over the years. The food is still great and worth going to!
