I came here after my partner requested Teriyaki Time when I was in the area. I ordered their daily lunch special plate (Mon+Fri) and mixed veggie tempura plate. Their daily lunch special plate (Mon+Fri) included chicken and 4 pieces of potstickers. It also come with a coleslaw type of salad and white rice. The potstickers were deep fried. The chicken was cooked well, not too dry and not undercooked, especially with the teriyaki sauce. I would say the plate came with A LOT of white rice. Easily half of the plate was rice. The lunch special did come with a fountain drink. Their mixed veggie tempura plate was pretty delicious, hot and fresh. There was a good variety of veggies including carrots, zucchini, and onion, eggplant (?). There was less rice in this, which was nice. It came with a tempura sauce as well, which was distinctly different from the teriyaki sauce. Price was fairly reasonable overall. Restaurant was a little older, but organized. Service was friendly. Overall, I would come back if I had a craving for teriyaki; it's not bad. read more

Happened to find this place last week while we were driving through the city and were hungry. I'll start with the positive - the food was tasty and had items you don't see at other teriyaki joints, like Yum Yum Chicken. However the negatives were: - Poor service (the young female cashier barely smiled and didn't even greet us nor say thank you). - Long waits. Took around 30 minutes to get our food and we arrived around 4:45 pm on a Friday! This place should be renamed "Teriyaki Long Time." No apology issued for the wait, either. - Felt nickel-and-dimed on the pricing. Nowhere on the menu did it say that the combo meal had a $1.50 surcharge for teriyaki beef! And the portion was super small. - Was charged $3.99 for a Diet Coke but menu shows less for fountain drinks. Asked about it and was told it's only in the bottle. Maybe a Diet Pepsi would have been cheaper at the fountain dispenser but wasn't explained that. - Didn't like the tone seeing some of the reminders about taking napkins (really?) and returning sauces. - Restaurant was mostly clean but the table we sat at was sticky. - A customer in front of me was dealing with some sort of issue, perhaps a credit card double charge on a previous visit? So I'd recommend checking your statements! But to their credit, the man seemed like a regular and used his store credit to purchase more meals on the spot. Visited this place for lunch and this was a solid choice for a quick lunch with a good portion to be leave full and a good price for what you are getting! I stood at the counter right infront of two people for over almost 5 min completely ignored until the nice counter girl came around the corner. I ordered the Thai chicken and rice because of all the great reviews, but honestly, I didn't feel the same way. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't amazing either--just okay. I can see why some people might enjoy it, but it just didn't do it for me. The sushi, however, was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting it to be the standout, but it was actually pretty good. I tried the California roll and the tempura roll. They weren't life-changing, but if you're craving sushi, this place is a solid option. I didn't have a good experience. Wait time is way too long! Especially, after arriving and waiting 15 to 20 minutes for a called in order for pick up. After I heard the counter staff / cashier ask about my order and personally observing they didn't check the takeout counter. Additionally, although I did not know it was my order, it was right in front of them, packed and ready to go. Clearly not the cooks fault. Feeling like Teriyaki? I highly recommend coming to Teriyaki Time. Their food is better than the other Teriyaki places we've been to around Elk Grove. The inside is clean with ample tables and seating. Our go to dishes are the Chicken Teriyaki Plate and Salmon Teriyaki Plate. All Plates come with a side salad, an orange slice and a side of teriyaki sauce. Their side salad dressing is very good. I'm not quite sure what the white dressing is, but it compliments the salad really well. Today I decided to try their Yum Yum Chicken Plate which is deep fried chicken. The chicken was crispy and tender. I really enjoyed the flavor of this dish and recommend you try it if you're looking for fried chicken as opposed to grilled chicken. We usually place phone orders so we can get our food as soon as we get there. If you order in person, it takes a bit longer because they cook it fresh. So it's up to you. I have seen some people just using the dine in bottle on their to go dishes before leaving. Just buy their bottled teriyaki sauce. It's really good and helps support this local business. read more

Do NOT give this place your business! My family and I have been coming here as faithful customers for many years. We order here almost weekly and are known by this place. We placed our usual order, which was completely wrong. We called to inform them, in which they refused to make it right or make any accommodations to fix our order. We offered to bring back the plate that was wrong as well, completely untouched. The manager, a young woman with a noticeable attitude, hung up in the middle of the phone call and disconnected the line so we couldn't call back. Nearly 20 years of continued business to this place gone in a few minutes due to terrible customer service. One of the worst experiences we've ever had at a restaurant. This was our family's favorite spot and all we wanted was for them to fix this, given we were also needing to drive back across town, pick up the new order + bring the wrong plate back. In addition, the quality and portions of food have gone down drastically over the last 3-5 years. It's not what it used to be, but it's a business we've always loved and supported. Since this incident though, the food quality has made us realize it isn't even worth putting up with if this is how they treat their customers. And in case anyone was wondering, no they did not end up fixing anything and we did not receive our correct order. We are so disappointed and will never support this business again. My kids and I came here to eat lunch since their dad was in the comic store. Our first time here plus it wasn't busy at all. The cashier is very informative and friendly when I told her this is my first time ordering. The servers were awesome, their service and food are awesome! They provided plenty of their delicious teriyaki sauce for us to douse all over our chicken and rice. You've gotta try it! Clearly it's so good because they sell a large bottle if you just can't get enough! I wasn't a fan of their salad, standard and bland. I recommend substituting for more rice.
