Sadly this place failed, we walked in and placed our order. We got the family meal for two and added egg roles, I dislike celcery so asked for mine without. No one spoke English well but I didn't dout they could provide what they offer. We waited about 25 min, took our food that was in stapled bags home. We ended up with no egg roles, as well as celery in my food. In the end I wouldn't recommend this place if your taking out or wanting anything special or excluded from your orders. The egg flower soup was amazing and the staff was very friendly. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the kung pao chicken. There were potatoes in it which threw me off and it was a wee bit salty. To remedy this I used a bunch of sweet and sour,of course. My fiancee's beef with broccoli however was perfect. Great place for Chinese takeout! Love the ease of ordering online. The menu offers some unique items I haven't seen on Chinese takeout menus before. I had the spicy shredded pork which was delish and no one can complain about the portion size. Another cool find. I really enjoyed this restaraunt. I took my 7 year old, and he's not too adventerous, so likes the basic chinese fare. He got an Orange Chicken kids meal ($4.99). He really like it. I was really excited to see 4 or 5 lamb dishes on the menu. I didn't order one this time, but I'm excited to go back and try one. I tried the Sweet Fire chicken. I enjoyed the crispiness, it was mild on the heat, but really tasty. My girlfriend had the Veggie Chow Fun. She liked the flavors, said they were very unique. We got a free appetizer for using Yelp to check in, and they were nice. They have a substantial "authentic" menu that I'm looking forward to working through. Clean, friendly, fast. This place was great! I couldn't believe that anyone would rate it below 4 stars. We got the family meal for 2 with hot and sour soup and egg flower soup. They were both great! For our entrees we got beef and broccoli, which had a great flavor and the meat was perfectly cut and cooked. The second entree was general taos chicken and the breeding was perfect on it, nice and crispy and not too much on it. The service here was awesome too, I don't know what that other review was talking about, both servers spoke English and we're really nice. I ordered online for pickup. Food was ready at the expected time. Containers were all wrapped in plastic wrap, so didn't have to worry about spillage. I had the sweet & sour pork. Very good with good portions. The only issue I had was using the online ordering. I've been there twice. The food is pretty good. Had a tofu/eggplant garlic dish for lunch that was nice, although I wish the eggplant would have been sliced a bit bigger. Ask for a Chinese menu! Went for the first time to Red Corner, or to the Chinese known as Xi Yangyang (won't let me type Chinese) literally translated as 'Pleasant Sheep' and it was delicious. I lived in Beijing before and have been eating Chinese in Salt Lake for over 10 years. Thankfully I've finally found a place in the Salt Lake area to satisfy my mainland cravings! If you don't look 'Asian', ask for a Chinese menu as well as your American-Chinese menu. The guy who served us (Mr. Su) is the friendliest person I've ever met and made my day! Really. He's from Beijing and so the menu has a lot of northern-style dishes, as well as some classics throughout the region. We ordered: Lamb kabobs and I died of happiness. So good. Just like Uyghur-style skewers. Beijing-style shredded pork and the Napa cabbage soup with pork meatballs is as about as authentic as you can get in Salt Lake. The soup is just so typical , like a good home-cooked basic dish and it made me immediately think back to those winter days in Beijing. I'd say a big yes to this restaurant if you want somewhere clean, friendly and authentic! read more

We enjoyed the atmosphere too, a small comfy cafe within which to converse (well lit, not too bright or dark). The traditional wall hangings and decorations provided a welcome escape. I decided to try out Red Corner because I had a Google offer and the best thing about them was that they didn't require you to dine in, which is good because sometimes, if I'm by myself, I just like dining in the comfort of my own home. With that said, it was an absolute NIGHTMARE getting to Red Corner. Not that it's Red Corner's fault, but because it just happened to be located in Midvale, unfortunately, there is construction everywhere, torn up roads, traffic backed for miles in all directions, and no clear signage about where to go or where to turn. Not to mention stop lights not working properly. Ugh! But anyway, the first time I went to Red Corner, I ordered a garlic dragon shrimp. Don't know why. I guess the name just sounded exotic. Certainly nothing I have tried before. Overall, it was good. The shrimps themselves were a bit salty. The sauce, however, was good. Not too spicy. Not too oily. Not too salty. And, best of all, not too much of it! At 11.99, I'm not sure if that would make for a good deal. But I had a Google offer, so that tempered the price a bit. I cannot make declarative statements about how good it is relative to other Chinese restaurants because I simply haven't been to enough. But it's good in its own right, even if it's Americanized. read more

I usually love coming here but I had such horrible customer service. I went in at 430pm and ordered the house lo mein. I asked for the noodles to be vermicelli (rice noodles). Literally there were 6 staff employees all staring at me like I was crazy. It was so awkward. One staff had no expression and stared at me so hard, I tried to stare at him back but it was just so awkward. I felt uncomfortable and it was rude. The cashier told me "I don't know what your talking about". I literally had to explain what vermicelli was from their own menu. It's even WRITTEN in their menu VERMICELLI NOODLES! So it was frustrating that the staff did not know, the attitude and the rude staring. Finally another staff member who was sitting behind the counter and just counting money told the cashier, it's rice noodles. After I sat down to wait for my to-go order and literally FOUR of the staff is rudely staring at me. We were also the only ones there but they should still remain professional. My bae ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice and again I ordered the House Lo Mein. My bae was upset because there was barely any shrimp in his shrimp fried rice. I only had TWO shrimps in my House Lo Mein. It was so disappointing and upsetting because you would like what you pay for. My bae didn't even touch his Shrimp Fried Rice, asides the fact their was 3-4 pieces of shrimp, he bit down and said his tooth hurt because he feels he ate metal. The pic attached shows a metal wire. This was a nice place to eat Chinese food in Utah. While the egg drop soup was a little watery the service was excellent. My traditional pre marathon entrée of chicken fried rice was executed reasonably well. Douse in soy sauce and you've got great carbo loading. Price is right, and the location is very close to the finish of the Big Cottonwood Marathon. If we run this race again. We'll be back. read more

Crazy good Chinese food. I'm staying at the Hilton in Midvale for business and I asked the front desk for a good Chinese food delivery place.. surprisingly she said none of them deliver here.. I googled around and called a few - all were rude and brief with me.. then I called Red Corner and the guy who answered was super nice and said the do deliver. They were kinda far away but they still said no problem and we're here fast. The poor guy was knocking at my hotel room door for a long time cause I didn't hear him. Just ordered delivery for the first time from Red Corner China Diner. Delivery took an hour and thirty minutes. At the one hour mark I attempted to call to get an E.T.A. so I could bedroom my dogs (and of course see what was taking so long), no answer. I called 4 times and was sent directly to a message saying the number is not in service. I made order online and at this point I was seriously considering calling Visa. Eventually food was delivered and below is a description. Red corner platter. Pot stickers- good. Egg roll- soggy on outside, dry on inside, do not know how that feat was accomplished. Spring rolls, eh, ok, same frozen crap everyone seems to serve. Cream cheese wantons, good. Fried shrimp, so soggy not worth eating and I love me some shrimp, and hate wasting food (the dogs did not mind it though!), sesame balls- delicious. Moo Goo Gai Pan- Pretty good. House lo mein- Noodles where so soggy I could not even pick it up with a fork without them breaking into mush (disappointing), flavor was good and meat was good which says something because I am a meat snob! Overall, not the worst meal I have had, and no where close to even being mediocre, and sad for me because I have the house to myself tonight and this was my spoil myself night (again, disapointing). Will not be a return customer. Meal cost was almost $50 and even though this was edible, I do not feel it was worth even half of the cost (especially after an hour and a half wait, and not even bothering to answer the phone). Oh, I also requested hot mustard that was so old that the top was a cement substance and the bottom was all liquid. I like it here, food is good. Service is pretty laughable at times but I've come to embrace it as part of the experience. The lunch special is very cheap and the food has been great. I recommend getting the lo mein instead of rice with your lunch special as that is. The only complaint I really have is that at times on lunch, they won't serve you hot and sour soup. There is no reason not to serve soup during lunch and bring it out for dinner. The only reason i think this place is a 3 is because of that nagging point. General's Chicken is what I always order from a new Chinese place so that's what I did here and it was all breading and no chicken. I ordered their food off of GrubHub a couple of nights ago: lemon chicken and ham fried rice. The portions were huge and it was probably the best hfr I've had in SLC. The lemon chicken was also delicious, but didn't heat up well the next day. I thought it might be a fluke, so I tried again a couple of days later. This time with kungpow chicken and Lo Mein. Wow! So very sad! This use to be a good and cheap place to go but things have changed drastically. I ordered the chicken egg roll as an appetizer, it was horrible. It had the consistency of cat food and smelled like it. The hot and sour soup (that I use to love) was bland and cold. I ordered the sweet and tangy chicken, the breading was soggy and the sauce was gloopy. The fried rice was just that, fried rice. Not a vegetable anywhere, not even onions. The taste is good, but the food or the dish (I am not sure which one) is not clean and fresh, because the rice container smelled a little bit weird but the taste was so good, I did not pay much attention.
