Finally I've found a "Cajun Boil" place with enough space!!! God has LITERALLY answered my prayer! They even have a back area that was the hang out for a biker night, which was cool. They had music playing, but it's a separate bar area so the patrons didn't disturb the people eating, which is awesome. I think you can still eat in the back area too. The sauce is good but not over powering so you're not burping up garlic for the next 5 days, like when I go to Hot n' Burpees, I mean Juicy. I had the chicken wings as an appetizer, it was the Red Crab House Flavor and they were really good. The boil sauces are not super spicy, but I still stuck with medium because the way my heartburn is set up, I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME! My husband had the "make your own fried seafood combo" (you get to pick three items on the platters list and it comes with fries) and it was fresh and light and crispy fried, like they had just went to the store and bought a fresh bottle of cooking oil! My husband ate that food like, I don't feed him at home! I was like FOOL, IT AIN'T THAT GOOD!! No lie though, it was DELICIOUS! I was stealing his food when he went to the restroom! (Don't tell him ya'll). The ambiance is chill and the customer service was really good. I'm from the south and I struggle with the customer service up here all the time. This place did not lack! They even went out of their way to find the weak Giants football game for my husband. Now as a caveat to all I've said, I went on a Monday night and it was not that busy. Very good quality seafood!!! If ever I am in the PG area, this is my go to seafood restaurant. The only reason why its not 5 stars is because the last time I was there I did find a couple of barnacles on the outer shell of the crab legs. Placed an order for delivery for the first time from Red Crab House, and unlike the previous times when I have eaten in the restaurant, the food was not that great. While all of the items I ordered were fried, I was disappointed that the Cajun fries tasted of stale grease and they were greasy and mushy. I ordered shrimp fried rice and asked that it be made spicy and instead of spicy, it was full of salt. Unfortunately I had to toss the shrimp fried rice. Thankfully the catfish, calamari, and onion rings were fine. Highly disappointed as this was a spot that I recommended to a few friends based on good tasting food. I have mixed opinions on the red crab. Service and food was pretty good. There is some oddities that give it bad marks. There is music playing so loud you can only read lips to communicate. This is one of my friends favorite go-to meetup lunch spots in Laurel. Great atmosphere, great music, usually RnB during the times we come, and of course great food. This has become one of my favorite seafood places near my house. I ordered fried shrimp, 1lb of king crab, 1/2 lb shrimp, 1/2 lb crawfish, and 1 lobster tail all in the extra hot red crab special (house blend). Everything was perfectly cooked and not overcooked. The shrimp and lobster tail was probably my favorite. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and were very clean; you could tell they were fresh. The lobster tail was so tender and delicious. I was surprised at how big it was; definitely worth the price. The king crab was delicious, too. However, for the price, I wish they were bigger. The crawfish were good--not the best I've had, but still good. The house blend sauce tastes similar to the hot n juicy sauce (if you've ever had it) except it's a little saltier, which I like. In regards to the spice level, if you're a person who loves spicy food, get extra hot. I love spicy food and extra hot (the highest spice level) wasn't spicy enough. I've been here about twice and each time the seafood is seasoned really well! I usually get the shrimp and snow crab legs and a side of sweet potato fries (literally one of the best sweet potato fries ever!!!) sooo crispy and delicious! Great location, easy to find, and great parking. The food is usually about 20ish dollars which isn't bad at all! The first time i went, the waitress was super friendly! 2nd time around, we had to wait about 20-30 min just for our waitress and she had an attitude the whole time. She never brought us the crab breaker things despite asking several times. That 2nd experience kind of put a bad taste in my mouth so sometimes the service is a hit or miss. Overall, everything is seasoned really well, the sweet potato fries are to die for, drinks are good, price is affordable, and the food is very filling!! Oh this place is awesome!!!! It was certainly worth the drive. I left with a full stomach and leftovers. I was overjoyed. I got sausage, potatoes, corn, and shrimp. This is a great spot! They have a fun/unique way of serving their dishes that keeps all flavor of a wet marinade without a mess. Meals are served with a bucket and metal plate. Each person is given a bib and set of gloves - No Silverware, but the bibs/gloves make it fun without the mess. Let me start off saying this is a crab place in Maryland that doesn't have old bay. Its unheard off, I know, but they didn't have any?!? It's those weird places where they give you your order in plastic bags. I'm not a fan because I feel like the chemicals from the bag leak in to my food, but that's me just being weird. The lunch special was shrimp,corn and potatoes. I got 2 tiny potatoes with my shrimp and a half an ear of over cooked corn. They have weird house blends of spices, and it's hard to tell what flavor to order. Overall it was ok,but I gave it 2 stars because the bathroom was horrendous. It appeared to be somewhat clean, but smelled really bad. I couldn't even tell what it was, it was like microwaved mold? And there was a completely dead plant in the bathroom. Arrived on a Saturday night at about 8pm, expecting the dinner rush to be over. Nope! But we only had to wait about 10 minutes. We ordered a dozen raw oysters, hush puppies, calamari, and a boil with shrimp, clams and crawfish. Everything was awesome. They even had live crawfish (which is rare this time of year). Went here for lunch and ended up being disappointed. We got seated promptly but had to wait almost 20 mins before gettin a server. The table that got sat after us had already gotten drinks and ordered while we were looking for a server (mind you two servers were helping them -table of 3). We asked the host who seemed very unengaged who was helping us she walked away a spoke to a server who you could see getting an attitude, still no one came over. After getting up an talking to someone at the bar our waiter Des finally came over. Mind you it was one of the two servers who had been helping the table next to us. She said she was gonna help us because the was no server "assigned to our table". She took our order and we didn't see her again until the food was ready. No apologies for the wait, no cheery attitude, nothing. We get our food an guess what our entree come out first, then about 10 mins later the apps. The shrimp boil was over cooked and salty, the size of the shrimp was also inconsistent (some big, some small) . The cheese sticks were overly breaded and had a weird taste. My father enjoyed his fried shrimp basket (2 stars for that). When we finished the she finally came back but was shocked when we asked her to remove the plates. It took another 15 for her to come back walk past us go greet and be friendly with other guests just to reluctantly bring us the check and walk away. I was on the fence about this joint because I hadn't been there in almost 3 years, when it was Red Sky(and TERRIBLE service). What a surprise it was to walk in to a different vibe altogether. Sunny(owner), introduced herself and was attentive throughout my visit. I really appreciate kindness and a smile-it goes along way with me. I have been coming to this restaurant since they have change the name like three times! LOL. The place used to be called red sky, which eat it had a very romantic ambience the food was a little pricey but well worth it. Then they change the name to something else, and you still received the same quality of food with a not so bougie/elegant vibe. Now this place is called red crab house. Anyone knows now, that you're going to come in and get seafood, and you were going to get your hands dirty! LOL. My food was definitely on point. Everything was well seasoned, and they give you a nice portion. My grandmother wants seafood this day, and I refuse to take her to the typical red lobsters chain. She had to take a few things Back, but overall she enjoyed her food. The staff was definitely hospitable and upbeat. If you decide to try this place, make sure you come for happy hour. I've been dying to try this place for some time and finally did. I went in for lunch and was immediately greeted at the bar. The bartender Julio was nice, attentive and very knowledgeable about the restaurant. I ordered the headless shrimp lunch special with Red Crab Sauce (medium spice). In about 10 minutes my food came out and I was given the bucket, gloves and bib to tackle the task at hand. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! This place serves various steamed shellfish with choice of seasoning. They have fried seafood too. Nothing real creative, but decent food. Service was fine, except the server never asked if we wanted another drink after we finished eating. That hurts them, more than bothered me. The presentation was kind of underwhelming--they served my seafood in a plastic bag that the server opened at the table. The menu had a poor choice of colors that made it difficult to read. The typos in the menu made them look a bit unprofessional. The beer list said they had "DC Brau" and "Jailbreak" beer. Well of course both of those breweries have multiple beers, but they just named the breweries in the menu. After asking the server, and she checking with the bar, I found out they stopped carrying anything from DC Brau and Feed the Monkey from Jailbreak. read more
