We ended up ordering the fish balls and ribeye steak. I ordered the ribeye steak rare because it would be served on a hot plate. After about 5 mins, the steak went from being rare to well done. I originally like my steaks medium so I wanted to wait a couple minutes to get it there but it seems I waited too long. The service was ok. Pretty slow servers even though it was busy. Their options for food are diverse, with not only hot pot but other meats and soups as well. The only thing is that I recommend coming on a weekday afternoon, as the asian guy that works during that time is really attentive and kind. Do not waste your money. The menu looks nice and the entrees look good BUT it's false advertisement to the max. None of the entrees we received looked like their pics. I usually work on Tuesday nights. Got a day off at the last minute so As a last minute plan, came here on Valentine's Day with my date. We ordered two entree's: the lava rock premium rib eye steak and garlic shrimp noodles. For appetizer, got the golden fried fish balls. Service was nice. The staff was attentive. They came often to refill the water and ask if anything was needed. My date's steak was well prepared. There is a dab of butter on top of the hot steak that you melt for that extra flavor. 3 different dipping sauces were provided and it comes with a side salad. Overall, the steak and its doneness was to my date's liking. I had a taste as well, I preferred it without using any sauces. My garlic shrimp noodle entree was pretty disappointing. The noodles were dry, the shrimps were over cooked and also dry. There was absolutely no hint of garlic in this dish. I requested some extra garlic sauce but was told there wasn't any to give. Instead, I was suggested to put soy sauce that was already on the table. It was of no help, as a matter of fact, it made the dish more salty. It was our first time. I would return for the rib eye steak entree but probably not anytime soon. If the chef would make the garlic shrimp noodles more flavorful by adding garlic as the dish name states, it could taste better. I cautiously give this place three stars. Decided to try this place since there were great reviews and I've been wanting to try all the hot pot spots around the area. It was a disappointing experience. Food: It was nothing special and some items in our soups tasted old. For example, the tofu in our Miso soup was sour. I've had plenty of tofu before and this was not it. The table sauces also did not taste good. You're better off using the sauces you can buy from 99 ranch down the street. Service: This place just like every other can get packed during peak hours, however, you can tell the staff lead (if any) doesn't know how to delegate tasks/ workflow. Everyone working seemed frazzled and the vibe was very chaotic. I knew it wasn't just us thinking this when we heard every table around us also complaining about the service. Since it was our first time here, we didn't know if they top off the hot pot with soup base. A few of the wait staff passed by our table multiple times with our dry hot pot on the table. This place seems more like a fast casual restaurant. Our order came out oddly quick so we're not sure how much cooking and/or prep work went into our dishes. We ordered a ribeye steak with broccoli and mashed potatoes. It's interesting that all steaks are the same price and ounce. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of meat they're serving because every other restaurant tiers their steaks or offer varied portions. The broccoli is plain, boring steamed broccoli which we could easily have made at home. Mashed potatoes taste like boxed potatoes with packet brown gravy. Ribeye was tasty but like any steak you could grill up at home. It was tender, juicy, and flavorful, we'll give them that. The lava stone is nuts! It stays hot for so long and splatters fat all over the place for an abnormally long time. At least your meal is super hot the whole time. The sauces are bottled, nothing special sauces. Steak sauce, a hot sauce, and bbq sauce. Pretty boring. We didn't even bother using the sauces. We also got one house special hot pot with number 3 flaming hot spice level. This could have been good but the soup base was kind of off putting. We were expecting a flavorful, yet in between kind of soup base. Not too much of one flavor kind of base but it tasted like a weird version of tom yum. The flavor of lemongrass or ginger or galangal, or whatever was in there, was too strong! It was very overpowering and really ruined the whole soup base. If it weren't for that, the hot pot could have been very satisfying. The soup base is probably some powdered instant noodle packet they doctored up considering the fast casual status of this restaurant. Our hot pot stayed very hot with their gel flame but it is tough to enjoy when it's piping hot the whole time. It comes with a half block of instant noodles in the pot but also a side of vermicelli noodles or rice. The vermicelli noodles went well with the soup. It's edible and was pretty filling but that soup needs to go. They did offer to refill our broth so that's a plus. Overall, we would not come back. There was nothing that stood out here and actually felt kind of ripped off even though it wasn't overly expensive. We say save your money and go elsewhere. Overall I had an good experience at this redflame location. My friend and I came to have dinner and it was not busy. The door is a little hard to open but we had quick service and had our menus in hand in no time. Our server dropped off water and then took our order. I heard people raving about this joint and i had to check it out for myself. They have hotpot , ramen and garlic noodles. What else can you ask for. Place seems hip, clean and staff are more than welcoming. I feel bad not giving this place a better score. Unfortunately as a foodie, food is what matter the most. My family ordered House Special Ramen, Steak Garlic Noodles, Beef Hotpot and Seafood Hotpot. They were all just alright. Nothing stood out in flavor. I also had problem with the content of these dishes, it is mostly mask by lettuce vs actual proteins. Overall, they were new when I first tried it. Perhaps they have improve with suggestion. I was excited to try this place when they first opened. It seemed to be a combination of many other types of restaurants into one so I was interested to see how they matched up to competitors. Sadly, it did not live up to the expectations. In the end, everything on the menu was a knock off of their competitors. The hot pots were not good. Compared to Boiling Point, these hot pots were bland and lacked flavor and did not have nearly as many fillings in the pot. It basically had half the ingredients and flavor. I don't recommend it. The lava stone steak that I tried was also disappointing. It's not a very large portion and was just a fatty piece of meat. And the sides seemed unappetizing. Their fries resembled frozen french fries from a bag. Dipping sauces for the steak consisted of A-1 and ketchup. I'm not sure what it was that I'm missing about this place. So my sister and I stopped at this place since it had a 4 star review and we were supper hungry. Well, as soon as we walk in, we noticed the place a bit dirty, tables not cleaned, food under tables...so on. Didn't care at that moment. The server came and took our order. When I went to use the restroom, it smelled of urine and it looked like no one cleaned it in months! I came out and food was being brought to us and didn't want to gross out my sister. Then as we are eating g our sea food soup, guess what she finds floating in the soup, a thick black hair! No it was definitely not ours! I then told her about the restroom and we told the server and all he said was I can bring you another soup! No dude, health violations right there! You're supposed throw all that away. When I told him I would pay for our drinks and not the food(I only ate three shrimps from my plate, because either food was horrible anyways, he called the owner and they threatened me with "dine and dash" lol, I was still there telling him I'd pay for SOME of the food. Was even going to tip from full amount. I was waiting to eat here for so long, and was extremely disappointed. On this visit, we ordered two hot pots, and the Vietnamese pancake Ban Xeo. My partner's hot pot was a curry, and I ordered the Thai hot pot. The contents of the pots were made very cheaply made with round head cabbage, fish cake, tofu which was about 90% of the pot. I have gone to other hot pots like Boiling Point and at least gotten a good portion of great items. The taste was very salty for my Thai pot, and my partner left her curry pot on the table too. When I go to a restaurant, I try to see what they are selling. Overall, I would say the taste needs to come up to par with what the young people want to eat. Came on a Sunday for an early dinner. Got the Japanese Miso hot pot and boy it was delicious. When hunger takes over, my Yelp brain doesn't register and as soon as the food comes out I usually go to town. BUT then my Yelp brain will say "stop! take a photo!". So you scramble to make it look like you just didn't inhale a few bites and make food pose. But it was so damn good, Yelp brain had no chance. This hit the spot like it hit my soul. Tried the waitlist which was honored as we arrived-Party of 9 (3 kids).Came just before 6pm on a Sunday and was almost full with one server doing the clean up and only one server taking orders. We waited around 20 min for the server to take down the orders but the food came out fairly quick. We did see a 3rd server join the shift. Overall everything was tasty. Not sure if they have a manager on the floor but that may be helpful if they did. The flavors were good and the meat portion was generous as I still had meat til the last bite.
