The service was okay and the place was really clean....I didn't complain. The meal left me hungry and so we went somewhere else for an entree! I doubt I would go back. Hello Fellow Yelpers! I use Yelp whenever I travel to help me figure out where the hot spots are, its a great site. I was on vacation last week with friends and we came to Red Ginger Thursday night for dinner. The food was pretty good but the service was anything but. We were seated in a timely manner, ordered a few drinks and were enjoying ourselves, when all of a sudden the hostess, I believe her name was Kaitlyn, came to a table next to us where an older couple in their 50's sat obviously out for a dinner date, and she shockingly started swearing at them. This hostess dropped several F-bombs to these folks.They seemed surprised by this and I felt really bad for them. I was absolutely appalled by this behavior. I gave one star solely for this reason. Any good establishment will have properly trained employees who cater to their guests not treat them as if they are in a trailer park fight. Too bad she ruined a great place for us. Sophia read more

Don't go here if you have any sort of food sensitivities or allergies. After specifying that we needed a vegetarian meal, meat was mixed into the plate that arrived. The hot and sour soup is good, pad thai is so-so, and the Szechuan chicken has a weird flavor (not a fan). The general tso is pretty good and there are several notable appetizers. This is my 2nd favorite Chinese restaurant in Brevard behind Yen Yen in Cocoa Beach. I've really liked everything I've tried. Some favorites of mine are Honey Walnut Prawns, White Snow Prawns (although Yen Yen does these better), Pine nut chicken, and their sushi which is quite good. They have VERY reasonable lunch prices, so I'd recommend trying them for lunch to get a taste for what they offer. read more

This was our first visit after having moved to the area recently with the USAF. Our waitress said, "Welcome to your new favorite Chinese restaurant!" She seemed pretty knowledgable about the menu and also indicated authentic Chinese was available. We ordered a modified California roll, smoked salmon, & Ebi--all good, except the Cali roll had fake crab meat. We also ordered Krabrangoon (their spelling, not mine) which came after our meal arrived & only because we asked about it. It was ok but nothing to write home about. There are plenty of good reviews for Red Ginger and they are all true. I love this place. If I could recommend trying anything, it would be the Imperial Beef - HOLY you-know-what. And the Pad Thai - shut-up! It's delicious. For my birthday I ordered the Crispy Whole Red Snapper...it was served tableside and was great, if slightly terrifying. It was huuuge and some of my guests didn't appreciate that my dinner was looking at them. We also tried the Pu-Pu Platter...I would skip it. Try the Caramelized Macadamia Shrimp appetizer instead, it's buttery and nutty, yum! This place is great for any occasion! read more

This place was recommended by a neighbor as the best Chinese restaurant in Melbourne They actually have Chinese, Japanese and some Thai. Our first time at a new place we always get something we know, so that we can compare it. We got tuna sushi as an appetizer and the piece of fish was big and sweet. The Chinese we ordered for our meal was great. The beef was fork tender which is often not the case. The service was excellent and the food was out to us in no time at all. After reading the good reviews about this place on yours truly, I decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. I ordered the American-Chinese favorite "General Tso's" chicken, and it was the best version of the dish I have tasted in a long time, and quite possibly ever. The chicken was very crispy and the sauce was extremely flavorful with an amazing aftertaste. In short, it was awesome. I definitely plan on going several more times and trying some of the other dishes. In addition to Chinese food, there is a sushi bar and a wide variety of Japanese entree choices. The gentleman who took my order even showed me a more authentic Chinese menu of which I couldn't read (since I don't know any of the like, 30(?) languages that people speak over there), but seems like it would offer even more choices to those who desire less Americanized Chinese food. On another note, the restaurant itself has a very elegant and pleasant decor. This place is not your run-of-the-mill mom and pop Chinese restaurant to go and eat cheap and greasy food on a table that was bought for 10 dollars at Walmart; rather, this place has an upscale atmosphere with amazing food. The restaurant has 2 locations - The Melbourne Mall and Wickham Road. Both have pretty decent food although the one in Melbourne Mall is newer and has a nicer decor. The most memory dish I had was the spare rib hot pot on their lunch menu. It tasted pretty authentic. I would like to try the other hot pots next time. I was also recently informed that they have a separate Chinese menu. More things to try next time! read more

All I can say is meh... I was looking for some great Chinese food. This wasn't it. I ordered the sesame chicken meal, which comes with soup, fried rice and two egg rolls and two shrimp spring rolls. I opened the bag when I got home and what I got was 2 egg rolls, white rice and sesame chicken. The price tag was $18.50, quite hefty. The food was quite bland. No distinct flavors jumped out. The chicken was dry and tasted like frozen chicken nuggets drenched in a watery sesame sauce. My search for good Chinese food will continue. read more

I'm sorry, but this is not what I would call authentic or even good Chinese food. One point in favor - it was not greasy. But the items on this menu are all Americanized. The atmosphere is very nice - linen tablecloth and napkins, soothing Chinese music. Our waitress was very nice, enthusiastic and the service was impeccable. But the food was mediocre in flavor. I ordered the peking Duck. It was pre-cooked (of course) but served stone cold. The Mandarin Pancakes are factory-ordered and definitely NOT authentic - a big disappointment! We were told that the chef is from the province of Sechuan and these are the dishes he excels in. She offered us an authentic chinese menu - which we did look at. We plan on returning and trying ordering from THAT menu but in my opinon? THAT is what they should be doing. One star for the food - sorry! Because I'm not going there for the decor, really. These guys have done this twice I've once again been disappointed by that fact I've ordered my food then hang up they would call back ask me "We forgot to ask is this pick up or delivery" then when I say pick up they hang up. But they forgot to ask for my name for pick up so I must say staff needs to stop slacking and start picking up the pace. read more

There are two types of Chinese Restaurants. There is the smallish family oriented type that charges reasonable prices and offers a lot for your money. The there are the "factory chinese restaurants." Red Ginger is a factory. It is over priced and the food is no better than any other Chinese restaurant. I ordered wonton soup. It tasted like they had poured salt in water. I had to return it. Then I got a shrimp lo mein dinner. It was ice cold I had to send it back. Then the waiter returned it hot. But he said to me that he had put more on the plate. Actually he gave me a smaller dish to make it look like there was more there. The worst was that this was the very first Chinese restaurant I have ever been to that charged for a pitcher of hot tea. But, get this. You didn't pay for the pitcher and each person share it. There was a $2.50 charge for each cup. In essence, we paid ten dollars for 1 pitcher of hot tea. Ridiculous to say the least. There's got to be a better way and many more Chinese restaurants that would treat customers better. read more

Very disappointed, although I had a feeling I would be, considering that this place claims to be Chinese, Thai, and Japanese. It's overly ambitious for a restaurant to think it can do all of those cuisines well, as they're so different. It's almost a moot point, as there's barely anything Thai on the menu anyway. The group I went with all had Chinese entrees. Nobody loved their food. I had the chicken curry hotpot, which was so bland and with a corn starch base. I had to add quite a bit of soy sauce to it to bring out any flavor at all. Someone else in my party had a seafood noodle dish, which looked really limp and overly sauced. We also had a kid in our group, who ordered off the kids menu, and his entrée was about twice as big as one of the adult entrées. Huh? Some of the appetizers we got, I am sorry to say, were basically throwaway food. Coconut shrimp were dried out and barely coconut-y. Scallion pancakes -- where were the scallions, and why did they have the consistency of dry, crunchy wontons? The imitation crab-stuffed avocado was tasty but on the wee side. (It's half a small avocado.) Service was pleasant and drinks were OK -- actually had a decent amount of booze in them and were on the cheap side as far as alcoholic beverages go. I was hoping for the best, but...sigh. The décor is attractive, but I really don't care if the food isn't enjoyable. I'd rather eat amazing food in a hole-in-the-wall joint. Honestly, my usual Chinese takeout place makes better food than this. I don't recommend Red Ginger and I won't be going back. read more

This was the first AND LAST time ever ordering takeout from this place. In my opinion, this was horrible. The very dried pork fried rice, the Kung pao chicken was cooked in something that tasted like fish. I hate fish and haven't eaten fish since 1968. Why would this chicken dish taste like fish? There are two locations. I never had a bad meal at the Melbourne mall location it's always good food and service. The location in suntree needs some more work, it took the kitchen a hour for our food. There was maybe four table in the restaurant at this time. I had asked several times about our food and was informed there kitchen is to busy. When it was brought out the sushi was Warm and noT rolled properly.Food had no flavor we ordered bourbon chicken and Mongolian beef also which was very bland and seemed to be cooked in the same sauces. Totally disappointed in delivery service. Food is OK. When I made order for delivery, I was told 35 minutes. Delivery came after 65 minutes. I already ordered pizza (as backup) and it was delivered as promised. Red Ginger is ok restaurant but could not recommend delivery service. Naturally I refused the delivered food since I I already had the pizza. Bottom line, if I was told it would be 1 hour for delivery this is fine. No problem. I ate at this restaurant with my wife and three kids (youngest 9) all of whom love asian food. It is located in a strip center, but I would definitely describe the decor as more upscale in terms of what you get at most Chinese restaurants. Our waiter recommended one of the house specialties, an orange stir fry beef which he described as not breaded and fried, but rather prepared in a sezhuan style. In hind site, i wish we ordered two of those dishes to share (not because the other dishes were not good, but because it was sooo good. One of my sons ordered pad thai which I suggested against (we were not at a Thai place, which is what he was wanting), and another ordered a sushi roll. The roll was awesome and pad thai so so. I put that one down to poor ordering on his part. The service was very good and attentive. First, let me say that it is unfair to compare a Melbourne, FL Chinese restaurant with those in San Francisco or New York. Relative to the local area, Red Ginger is one of the better ones. It is clean, for one thing, which puts it high on my list. It also serves a few authentic dishes such as Chow Fun, which I have a hard time finding in Florida. Nevertheless, some things need serious improvement. The egg rolls, for example, are frozen factory-produced blobs that are tasteless and textureless things. Some of the dishes are quite flavorful, but I was disappointed this evening with the honey/garlic chicken, which was bland. I also consider Red Ginger to be one of Brevard County's higher priced Chinese restaurants for what you are getting. So as I say, relative to others here it is pretty good, though not by West Coast standards. I would recommend folks give it a try once and decide for yourself. read more
