I personally think butter roll is much better with the toasted buns and jumbo chunk of lobster. Nevertheless, the mayo one is the lighter version if you don't want to go crazy on the butter. We got some rolls at at Saturday flea market and they were delicious. My chipotle mayo BLT lobster roll was served with warm, soft, buttery bread. The bacon was a thick slice and the saltiness gave flavor to the tomato slices and iceberg lettuce. The mayo had a touch of spice that added a little zing. Oh, but the large hunks of succulent lobster claws were the stars of the show. Portion size wasn't very large, but this was only $10. DH got the Connecticut style roll ($16) with melted butter. So here's the thing...we don't have lobster rolls in LA. So when Felicia C told me that Day 2 of my trip was going to consist of the two of us going on a Lobster Roll crawl, and that the first stop was all the way in Red Hook Brooklyn, I was excited but had no idea what the hell a lobster roll even was. So after taking a train, a bus and walking for a spell, we came upon Red Hook Lobster Pound. Inside was pretty freaking cool. Huge tubs of lobsters just sorta hanging out waiting to be, well, turned into rolls. We ordered one of each to share. The conneticut which was lobster with butter, and the maine with a light mayo. We strolled next door to the cute "dining" area and got to work. Holy crustaceans, they were freakin' fantastic! How the hell have I not ever tasted this before? The lobster meat was sweet, fresh and had HUGE chucks of claw meat there for the taking. The rolls were soft, toasted and delicious. I swear to God, when I took my first bites of each I started trying to figure out how I could find a job in Brooklyn so that I could have these rolls all day, every day, for the rest of my life. Wow! This place was some of the best seafood I've ever eaten. I had a Blackboard Eats deal for a four-course prix fixe dinner for $40 and decided to trek to the Red Hook location to try it out. We got a cup a clam chowder, peel-and-eat shrimp, a while lobster with potatoes, corn and cole slaw and a funnel cake for dessert topped with ice cream and blueberry compote. The location is a little out-of-the-way, but it was worth it. The atmosphere was laid back and I loved the 80's music they had playing. The food itself was amazing. Easily the best clam chowder I've ever had. The shrimp and lobster were cooked to perfection and the funnel cake was so delicious. I was happy to hear that they have a location in Washington, DC. Juicy lobster with cute sea decor from a ship. Red Hook Lobster Pound was a pit stop for my friends and I when we finished the Raaka chocolate tour. We were going to have a heavy dinner later so we decided to only have a light lunch as almost a snack. My friend ordered their Connecticut lobster roll that has a quarter pound of lobster meat with warm butter. This was the one roll that is served warm. The other rolls are cold. I also really wanted some shrimp so o decided to get the peel and eat shrimp which was shrimps on the shell that has been sautéed with old bay seasoning, a salt with paprika I believe. The lobster roll was full of meat and so buttery and well seasoned. Bread for the roll was hefty, but not dense and it was grilled so it had a nice crunch. Peel and eat shrimp was grilled perfectly, not rubbery or burnt. But it was a little salty though. Service was adequate-- we were seated right when we entered the restaurant but the waitress did at one point forget to give my friend her cocktail. However, other than that, service went efficiently. I definitely think their lobster rolls are pretty delicious and while they are a bit pricey, it's very worth it. Took my dad and mom there for my dad's birthday. Everyone was super nice. They made sure we got a table either inside or outside. It was pretty busy (which I have no doubt it would be) around 6pm. We ordered The Poundster and add on's 1.5 lobster and snow crab. The server was super nice and friendly - always making sure we have everything we needed (I didn't get his name but he looks like a young gentleman with black wavy hair) . This restaurant is definitely not convenient to get to but based on the yelp reviews I had to try this place at least once. I tried their Maine lobster roll which came with a pickle and fries for twenty dollars. My meal was excellent but the portion was a lot less then what I expected (Im used to the lobster roll from Panera which h is definitely larger but not as good). This is a bit of a confusing review to make. The food itself is wonderful and the outdoor seating is awesome. Where I find this place to be lacking is the service, which I have a hard time critiquing right now because of how rough the service industry is. However, we've been here several times and had the same experience. One of my biggest pet peeves is not being greeted by a server when they come up to the table. If the first time I'm being talked to consists of: "ready to order?", then I feel like I'm being rushed and what's the point of dining in, when I could just order online and have the same experience. So, my advice is consider ordering take out and walking to the water if service is important to you. Either way, the lobster rolls are yummy and there is literally no bad item on the menu. read more

If you don't want to drive up to Boston this place Is the perfect spot to grab a traditional lobster roll. I'm not terribly fond of lobster rolls but I wanted to try the place out since it had some decent reviews. I started with a bowl of New England style clam chowder and it was very good. It had lots of clam meat and the cream wasn't overwhelming. It was silky and flavorful. For second appetizer I ordered the peel and eat shrimp. They were boiled shrimp served with a wedge of lemon and a nice helping of old bay seasoning & cocktail sauce. Finally, the Connecticut lobster roll, I was impressed with the size of the bun..it was perfectly toasted with a 70/30 ratio of lobster meat to roll. Finally a lobster roll with the right proportions! It was somewhat bland but after a squirt of lemon it was fine. It was served with a pickle, side of coleslaw and potato salad. For dessert I ordered the banana pudding. It was great and big enough to share. Parking was easy to find, being that it was a Wednesday they didn't have a wait and they had some great specials like happy hour with $1 oysters and $25 lobster dinner (Wednesdays)I looked around and almost everyone had an entire lobster on their plate;Served traditional boil style in a basket with red skin potatoes and corn on the cob. There's not a location set up for the stand at Rockaway Beach so leaving my review here. I have had several lobster rolls and this was hands down the best I ever had. They have 2 types of lobster rolls and I had the Maine lobster roll. My roll had all lobster claws & legs. The lobster meat was gorgeous to look at as well as sweet and juicy. I liked that it was lightly dressed so it didn't feel super unhealthy or take away from the flavor of the lobster. I love Ikea but the best part about leaving, is fresh lobster rolls right around the corner. They have daily specials and all of the lobster dishes are all made with fresh lobster. I have the Crispy Brussels Sprouts covered in Lobster Caramel Sauce (Bangin). Clam Chowdah is a must. And had a Connecticut Lobster Roll that was just about perfect. I ordered the Connecticut lobster roll, New England clam chowder, and fish with chips. The fish was tender and protein rich. I appreciated the slender strips of each bite of fish. The sweet potato fries were a tad disappointing because they were not crispy nor warm. My lobster roll was average. I was hoping for a warm toasty buttery bread but it was mild. Yes there was butter on it, yes it was a tad toasted but no it was not the drooling bite one takes when eating toasted buttery bread. As for the lobster, it's hard to go wrong with that much expensive protein. I enjoyed the soup a lot but it was heavy on the potato side. I have yet to find a clam chowder similar to Europe. This place was a little distance from where we were staying. This place is located in Brooklyn. The area was very quiet and peaceful. We visited during lunch time. The restaurant was super clean and I could smell bleach or a cleaning solvent in the air, sometimes it did get a little overwhelming. Water was brought to you in a chilled glass bottle. I am going to go with Red Hook Lobster Pound over Luke's. This place is a bit far to get to but there's a wide variety of goodness at this little spot. For starters, you can go with the Maine or Connecticut style. Cold with mayo or hot with butter. Both choices are great so I usually get one of each. The buns here are toasty and so buttery inside. If you're going with a group, have one person hold the seating down. There's a separate dining room next door you can chow down at. If it's your first time, try one of each. The lobster mac and cheese here is pretty darn good. Pasta shells with lots of melted cheese (they use 4 types) and tender chunks of robster. The bisques and chowder are pretty good too. Steve's Key Lime Pie, just the right size to finish the lobster fest. P.S. - Really random but the Tuna Melt here is off the chain. read more

Bad service here. We went for lunch and got seated at an unshaded two top. Servers ignored us for the better part of 20 minutes and took the orders for other tables who arrived later than us. They also refused to move us to shaded seating despite one being open, saying that it was "reserved". My wife is pregnant so we just called for take out and left. Some person left a comment saying we should have ordered food to go to begin with since my wife is pregnant. See the third sentence of the above paragraph. That's the problem I have with this place. No issue with being out in the sun for a bit, but waiting for 20 minutes just to be acknowledged is beyond silly. We went to another restaurant the night before and service was on point, so I don't buy this "we're all flying by the seat of our pants" stuff. The food was pretty good but the wait and service was just too slow. We got there at 8pm on a Friday and sat at the bar. We decided to eat at the bar. People around us waited over 20 minutes to get the bartenders attention to get a drink. We got the calm chowder which was warm but not hot. It was very tasty and it was good temp to eat right away but I feel like it may have been sitting in the kitchen a while. I ordered fish and chips and my bf got the lobster roll. It was super busy so we figured it would be a wait to get food. We waited an hour and 15 min for the wrong order to come out. Two lobster rolls. They took back all the food and we waited another 30 min for the bartender to tell us that the reason the food was taking so long was because they didn't have any potato salad left.. so after two hours we got the correct order. One of the better places to get lobster rolls in NYC, although not my favorite. They do offer both classic Maine style as well as Connecticut style (hot and buttered), as well as a BLT and a Tuscan style (basil vinaigrette) that I've never tried. The lobster cheese fries and lobster mac n' cheese are essentially identical, expect one carb is fries and the other is pasta. Extremely cheesy and good for sharing for the table, as they're both very heavy, but sadly there were very few pieces of lobster in either (but are priced at $18 each). We also tried the fried oysters rockefeller, which was also very creamy, cheesy, and heavy. Overall, I would personally stick to the lobster rolls or lobster/seafood boils in the future. Shouldn't need to cover up seafood with all those heavier items if the seafood is fresh! read more

I had an ok lobster roll sandwich. Somehow I didn't feel it was so special. I have a Connecticut one, with butter. The bun was warm and crispy, perfect, but the lobster wasn't so warm. The sandwich came with some French fries for a total of $26. I am just bummed because I was debating between the roll or just a cup of chowder and fried seafood, and I might enjoyed those more. I made a pickup order for around 30 entrees and side dishes, with no heads-up. I was able to put in my order at 11:45 AM, even though they only opened at noon. The wait time? Twenty. Five. Minutes. No joke. There was no hesitation at all! Everything was done efficiently and thoroughly, and I especially want to thank Aissa who was organized and helpful both on the phone and in person. Fantastic customer service! I'm very appreciative that it was so easy to feed such a large group of people on such short notice.
