Where do I begin? I first learned about this place, back in 2019. It was a luck of the draw. The reviews were mixed. I wanted chinese food really badly. So I gave them a try. The first meal I ordered, was sushi, (the chicken, avocado, cucumber, and sweet potato rolls). When I tell you, the food was sooooo good it started to make me tingly all inside! I mean...tingly tingly! I have never ever had sushi, as good as how this place makes it, ever! Unfortunately, I moved away from the area, but that doesn't stop me from traveling there to eat! I travel from my current town, to this place, which is a 30-35 minute commute! I would travel an hour, just to satisfy my cravings for this place. I have actually, the days I'm further away for work. My husband and I's usual Chinese place was closed for the night and we wanted to try another place near by (since we were craving Chinese) and decided to give Red House a try. My husband has lived in Japan for two years and was super excited to see that they offered Japanese food on a Chinese restaurant's menu. He immediately ordered the Shrimp Yaki Udon. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with white rice. Our delivery driver was super prompt and friendly. However, our food was not the best. My husband said that at his usual Japanese restaurant, the food comes in a cylindrical container and the soup mixture is thin. His came in a large rectangular container and the soup was thick (as well as had lettuce and mushrooms and things he did not expect to have in it). As for my sweet and sour chicken, the sauce was definitely on the saltier side (usually all the other places I've been to, it's more sweet, which I prefer sweeter) and the chicken tasted a little too crunchy (too much batter). I was on the receiving end of a really nice colleague that purchased a shitload of chinese for a bunch of us at work. They ordered from this place. I guess they're not like me and didn't check yelp before ordering. I'm actually horrified to see the average review and will intentionally not read the other reviews for fear of explosive diarrhea foreshadowing. Ignorance is bliss. I'd rather enjoy the last few hours than dread the inevitable. I went for a run today that was particularly exhausting which probably explains my ravenousness. I got ice cream with peanuts and rainbow sprinkles (both chocolate and vanilla, that's all they have even though they tease u on the machine showing mint chocolate chip) but it barely made a dent in my appetite. I was starving and considering ordering food when I received the call on my spectra link that one can only ever dream of. "Hey, we're ordering food and it's on the house, do you want something?". Holy shiiiiit I must have done something right recently to deserve this wonderful karma. God only knows what that is. I finished all of this bullshit work stuff I have to do and came back to the conference room to meet a ridiculous and spectacular sporgasburg (just rereading this review, yes my life is that pathetic, and I noticed how I spelled 'smorgasburg' LOL) of various chinese offerings. I hope it's cornstarch and not some weird shit. That's the thing I find about cheap chinese, you never know what in god's name you're eating. Due to my emaciation, I threw some tofu cubes, broccoli florettes, and those oblique carrot slices that are so characteristic of chinese food down my esophagus. I don't actually recall seeing any baby corn. Huh. I also tried some noodles which were ok and some kung pao tofu cubes which was also just ok. I'm not quite sure what to make of the skin on the tofu at this place. Once you add whatever that fucking mustard stuff is, the food actually gets better. I inquired what comprised the roll-appearing objects and nobody could tell me. Not even people who ate them. Not the person who ordered them. Not the person who dissected one and actually saw the contents for themselves. Bad sign, if you ask me. As I'm typing this, like literally seven hours after this shit was ordered, bc we're literally THAT LAZY, the chinese is still sprawled out all over the conference table. I'm still getting whiffs of it as we speak. Anyways, I don't know what the standards are for chinese in the northern philadelphia suburbs, but I really hope this isn't it. We needed an easy take out option for dinner tonight and my husband brought in the mail and their menu was in there. I am ALWAYS disappointed when we order Chinese or Japanese locally, especially any sushami. Although the sushami was cut much thicker than I prefer the fish was fresh and delicious. The bento salmon box had delicious fresh veggies cooked perfectly. Also had the dragon's nest which was a little too Mayo tasting but over all good. This is a place that can let you down if you are anticipating a good night of Chinese Takeout. I ordered delivery which was relatively cheap ( probably the cheapest in the area) and fairly quick ( they arrived at the last minute of the hour delivery window). I was satisfied with delivery services as far as they stand. I ordered General Tso's Chicken and Pork Lo mien. The chicken was great and generously proportioned, with plenty of chicken and rice. The lo mien however, had NO NOODLES, despite being listen under the noodle section. This was a real bummer because we all know what it is like to not have that Chinese-Food Craving satisfied. The lo mien was not tasty at all, was just stir fried vegetables in sauce. I would not personally order here again unless I saw my food before it arrived/ ate in. They have Sushi. It's my favorite. I like the people in there. They are pretty nice to talk, always smiling.

I'm giving Red House five stars because when it's good it's very, very good and when it isn't very good it's fine. They have a dish, "Hunan-Style Lamb" which seems very authentic and is very delicious. I've successfully gotten the same dish made with bean curd instead as well. Their hot-and-sour soup is also above average. Unfortunately, dishes which usually are very reliable are very strange here. I wouldn't recommend any of the mixed vegetable dishes; occasionally it seems whoever is making them adds butter or something like it. As a result it comes out with a strange flavor that does not blend well with the other ingredients. Some of their more fusion dishes are also less predictable. Their sushi, however, is also pretty decent for a delivery place, especially the vegetarian options (Sweet Potato, Cucumber/Avocado, etc). Again, the reason I'm giving them the 5 stars is for their incredible Hunan Lamb dish (and bean curd variant) which are a must-try if you like spicy food. I would recommend ordering on Thursdays; for some reason that is when their food is the best. read more

The fried rice was super bland, chicken and broccoli came in brown sauce and the chicken was super mushy, the General Tso's chicken was soft without a lot of sauce, and the egg roll was greasy. Well, it's been two hours since I ordered delivery and they still aren't here. I'm pretty bummed because now the playoff game is pretty much over and I had no food to enjoy it with. Don't know if they will actually ever bring me my food.... I called 45 minutes ago and they said "they were on their way and will be there any minute" Well... that was a lie. I should have listened to my fellow yelpers but I really was craving sushi. Womp Womp. Lesson learned. Update: 2 hours later I called back, they now said they never got my order, I called yelp (excellent customer service) and I called eat street (the company that this place uses to place orders) and they had great customer service as well. My purchase will be refunded to be after a two hour wait for my food, it is going to be delivered. Hopefully soon. I will say the two women I spoke with were pleasant at this restaurant and very apologetic. Stuff happens ,but I wouldn't recommend them unless you are seriously just hanging out at home and have snacks to curb your hanger. Update #2: it's been 3 hours... considering eating one of my dogs now for Sustenance as my food still isn't here... Final update: finally came. Was not worth a 3 hour wait. Edible. The food here is great, particularly the sushi. Our only reservation about this place, and what keeps us from ordering, is that their delivery takes about an hour or more to arrive. Every time, you will think they have forgotten you. I can only conclude that they must not get a lot of delivery orders. Right now, for instance, I've been waiting 55 minutes. I was quoted 35 min. Will my food show up? Only time will tell! Last time, they called us all confused about whether or not we had ACTUALLY wanted the food delivered. Like I said...the food is great....if it gets there! I got the menu about 2 weeks ago in the mail, and I have ordered there at least 6 times since. The sushi is amazing! filled with fish, very fresh, super tasty. Much better than Queen! Love the Dragon's nest! Today I got chinese food and it is the best Shrimp roll I had in a long time. It could have used more cabbage for my liking but the wrapper was crisp, not greasy and it had flavor. Same thing with the Wonton soup. I could actually taste the Ginger in it and it was a nice deep brothy color. The wontons themselves were not too doughy, and the filling had the traditional pepper and ginger flavor. My soup was not salty like other reviewers, so maybe they've made some changes. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of, and the reason for only 4 stars is the fried rice. I got shrimp friend rice and like every other delivery place around here there was no egg, and no sprouts. Those are the two things I like best. the rice also seemed to have been made in a wok instead of a hibachi, it just had that kind of difference in flavor/ texture. I'm reviewing the food not the delivery cause I don't go to dine in restaurants and review the parking. I've ordered from here several times. They offer fresh and inventive specialty rolls. I always get the avocado salad with natural (ginger but they call it natural) dressing. Their bento boxes are a real bang for the buck with soup, rice, fruit,salad, edamame and the protein of your choice. It's nice to have a place that offers salad, sashimi and rolls in addition to regular Chinese for takeout staples like lo mein, General Tso's and fried wings. The food always arrived well packaged and at an appropriate temperature. Presentation of sushi rolls is always neat and nicely prepared. read more

Two hours after we ordered (and two phone calls to the restaurant to find out where the heck our food was), the food finally arrived and was, predictably, barely luke warm. Now, bear in mind, this delivery was on a Tuesday night around 7-- it's not as though I ordered at 6pm on a Friday or Saturday! But fine, whatever. Food is just kind of okay, definitely not worth what we paid, but I would've just let it go. Unfortunately, my husband is now sick as a dog and has been for several hours because (further surprise from the crappy restaurant) his vegetarian food was exposed to meat somehow. I always read reviews before trying something new, I hate to waste money on something I could have done better at home. Since living in PA, I have only had one Chinese meal that was decent. I saw the many terrible reviews but decided I had to give it a shot (considering the quarantine and limited options). They have lunch specials that are fabulously priced. I ordered 4 meals and 2 appetizers for pick up. I customized each meal with special notes - all of which were followed. I am so impressed. The food is delicious! I am so picky with my chicken especially and their chicken is so good. My General Taos did not disappoint. The bag included sauces also, even though I picked up my own order. Horrible service coupled with lies and half cooked food would best describe Red House. My wife recently called and asked what the longest timeframe a delivery would be (they are a 10 minute drive from us) she was promptly promised 45 minutes which was the deciding factor in the order. By the way they don't actually deliver, they use contract drivers like Uber Eats but I am not sure who the delivery person worked for, she was the only pleasant part of the order. An hour and 15 minutes after ordering my wife called and heard someone yelling in the background "tell them it's on the way" about 5 minutes later she received a text message saying that our order was about 15 minutes away. Nearly 2 hours later the delivery girl showed up at our door and apologized and let us know that she had only been called for the order 20 minutes prior to delivery and that the manager at the restaurant called and yelled at her and told her he wasn't paying her for being late with our delivery. The food was kind of warm but disgusting. They clearly forgot to make our order and just threw something together. We both felt sick afterwards and won't be ordering or returning clients. Please be careful when ordering and don't choose Red House unless your looking for horrible service and a belly ache. Afterwards I called to discuss the manner with the owner and asked that a concession be made. From a different number ownership then called and Harassed me after 10pm multiple times followed by inappropriate text messages as you can see in the photos. I highly recommend not eating hear. The harassing phone calls and text messages went on until near midnight. They are not even listed with the Better Business Bureau leaving Yelp as my only way to let others know about the nature of this establishment.
