Moved here from Arizona one year ago and had an amazing experience at the Red Lobster in Travers City so figured we may have the same experience at this location as well..... Let me start by saying, when we walked in at 6:00pm on a Monday night there wasn't much of a wait, which was a pleasant surprise being the day after Christmas and all, this was definitely a PLUS!! What wasn't inviting was the fact that the restaurant smelled of urine!! It seemed rather dark and run down, we had hoped the meal and service would be better then our initial take on the restaurant so, we gave it a chance. We were seated next to an elderly couple who from the very moment we sat down started complaining to a server that they had been waiting on their server for 15 minutes, and that they were tired and wanted to have their food boxed up so that they could go home. Our server seemed very friendly and spunky, young girl who took our drink order immediately!! So far so good!! She didn't tell us of any specials so we assumed there were none and looked over the menu. We placed our order, myself the Ultimate Feast and my husband the sirloin, medium with a side of shrimp. Our soup and salad came immediately as did our yummy biscuits, my soup was cold and the lobster was tough but, I didn't wanna complain besides my husband said his salad was really good!! Ten minutes past, then 15!! Where did our server go!! The same place the kind elderly couples server went, I'm assuming!! Our food arrived!! :) My crab legs were literally COLD!! My lobster was warm, the shrimp scampi was dry and literally stuck to the plate and my scallops in a small dish of water?? The presentation was the WORST I have ever seen from any Red Lobster in any state that I have lived and I have lived in 6 different states. The worst part is that our entrees weren't served to us by our server rather by the manager who put our plates on the table without greeting us or barely saying a word. My husbands steak, was so dry you could not chew it, this was not medium! I finally called out to our waitress to let her know how bad the steak was and she immediately offered to have another made, ok!! kind gesture, I will not complain then about my cold and dry food!! Ten minutes later after struggling to open my crab legs because they failed to bring me the utensils to open/break them my husbands steak returned to the table, nobody waited for him to cut into it to check and make sure the problem was fixed but, ok!! This time the steak was RAW! So raw it was purple!! Ridiculous!! I called over the manager to let her know, and she look dumb founded! She offered to take the steak off the bill which was the least she could do considering the fact that it was not edible!! I asked for the utensils to crack open my cold crab legs which took her 8 minutes to find!?!? Seafood restaurant, why would they not be on hand?!?! Needless to say, we still received a check for $48.00 for the WORST meal and service that I have had in the state of Michigan!! This place is going downhill very quickly. I remember years ago when I was a child, Red Lobster had lots more options to choose from who didn't like seafood. Now there's only three choices and you cannot even get a burger for dinner (they are only served at lunch from what our waitress told us). The Loaded Potato Bacon Soup is very rich but I did not like the ginormous hunks of potato in the soup. And please tell me how can you run out of crackers?? I didn't realize my sirloin that I ordered would be seasoned with peppercorn to the max and was to the point where it wasn't even edible!! Went here the other day and I was pleasantly surprised based on some of the reviews I read. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Food was fantastic as well. It tasted MUCH better than the Red Lobster in Grandville, which is the one we normally go too. Decor seemed fine and the lobster tank was clean and was a big hit with my 6 year old upon arriving. Would give 5 stars if not for the fact that their menu is riddled with sentences like "add $5.99 for X. One or two things is fine, but when have of your entries have clauses like this it gets really annoying..... But I understand that's more likely a Corporate thing than anything else. read more

Let me start by saying, I went here for my wedding rehearsal dinner. I actually brought my biological mom and a few members of my adopted family. My husband also brought his adopted family and it was a very relaxing evening. I already had experienced the Grandville Red Lobster over by the Rivertown Crossing Mall before, so I knew I would love the food already and I am happy to report, it didn't disappoint. I was pretty stressed over whether my families would clash as I never knew my biological family growing up. My adoption was closed, so unfortunately, that added to my stress something that most married couples don't even have to consider. But, the meal was superb. I love shrimp and the dessert, Wow! So Rich, but also, so scrumptious. The atmosphere was pleasant and we were seated in our own little area since we had a big group! It wasn't too crowded, that I recall; but If it was, I did not notice. I felt well taken care of! I know it can be hard to cater to a big group like ours at these fancy sit down restaurants but the servers were fantastic and we we're greeted with a smile from the time we walked into the establishment. I really love Red Lobster for special occasions and happy memories! It sure is a wonderful family style restaurant with lots of smiles to share and tummies to fill! Depending on what you get Red Lobster can be good but it's generally hit or miss with the portions and quality obviously decreasing over the years in dishes such as, specifically, the side salads that come with your meal. Not a biggie but it's clear they aren't super quality concious. The fresh fish (they have a separate, smaller menu for that) and the pricier seafood is really quite good but the rest, lower quality stuff is just OK. I see they have burgers now and they have typical appetizer stuff like mozzarella sticks and chicken strips for those that don't like seafood. I'm often disappointed by what I get. The lobster pizza for example has never really hit the mark. The shrimp tacos should be good but are just meh. More recently I got fish and chips (yesterday actually), I don't know why I expected more but the chips are just their normal fries and the fish was actually a huge fillet battered and fried whole without seasoning. I've never seen this before in my life as being "fish and chips" and even if they had cut it down into three fillets it would've had more flavor from the frying. My mom got good chicken fettuccine alfredo but you could make that at home in less than twenty minutes so I'm not sold on paying someone else to do so or impressed that they can. Had to say something about our Friday night visit, during Lent. We had a ten minute wait and went to the bar. Very friendly and helpful young man, Zach, tending bar. Our wait was no longer than we were told. At our table, our waiter Brett B was quick to visit and attentive without being distracting or overbearing throughout the meal. The food came out with good spacing so we weren't still on the appetizer and salad when the entree arrived. About our entrees is why I'm writing this. We've been to multiple Red Lobsters in several states and never had hot fries and seldom hot food. It's always been good and certainly warm, but last night everything that should've been hot was. My fries were burn your fingers hot as was everything else. In a nutshell, we both had the best meals we've ever had at a Red Lobster. She had the Ultimate Feast, I had a "create your own" with two servings of Walt's shrimp, Parrot Isle Coconut Shrimp is a must for an appetizer! Thanks to all for a great experience!! read more

My husband and I go every year for the endless shrimp. Since I don't care for seafood myself I don't often make it at home. He enjoys it tremendously and would give that particular meal 4 stars. The reason for only 3 stars is the menu for those of us who want to eat out with friends and family and can only find 2 items on the menu: chicken and rice or chicken and pasta. Not even much in the way of appetizers. I remember fried mozzarella. The portions on the regular menu have also gotten much smaller while prices have gone up. I know the cost of everything has gone up.. but seriously... it's pasta. I would give it only 2 stars so the rating above reflects the average. Even though I realize writing this review and commentary is probably a colossal waste of time, I nonetheless feel I must do what I can to call attention to the sad state of this restaurant chain's affairs. We had decided a few years ago to forgo Red Lobster when choosing a restaurant because of the failing quality of food and service we were witnessing at the ones we visited. On 10/20/2018 around 2 pm we returned from a day of shopping in Lansing (MI) and hadn't stopped to eat all day. Just before we got into Grand Rapids my wife suggested we stop at the Red Lobster on 28th street and give it one more try. What a mistake! The fall from grace we experienced prior to swearing off the restaurant chain a few years ago had unfortunately continued and, apparently, fully manifested itself at this location. Not only was the food quality less than stellar, but the service had reached a new low. Our server was the worse example of customer service my wife and I had experienced since we both could remember. She was brash and dismissive, mostly reminding us of Omarosa. Her style was to deliver clandestine character attacks while simultaneously posing as a legitimate waitress. It was obvious that she was purposely trying to make us feel small merely because we were requesting that she actually serve us what we wanted. Unfortunately we were so hungry that we decided to bear the insulting treatment as long as we could in hopes that we could just get something to eat. During the meal we were forced to bear even more of the server's questionable behavior. She smirked at every request from us and made no attempt to assuage our obvious mounting fears that we were being treated unfairly. As we neared completion of our "meal" we were treated to a visit from the manager. Obviously the manager had collaborated with our server prior to the table visit. To our complete surprise, she immediately began to defend her waitress and, by default, suggested that we were out of line in our decision to complain. This was the last straw. I immediately told her that we would be compiling a written complaint to be delivered to the corporate offices in Orlando. Prior to writing this, I tried to see how the restaurant chain had faired with other patrons by checking out reviews in forums such as Yelp and Consumer Affairs. That's when I began to realize that what we had experienced really wasn't news. It seems the restaurant chain's problems with questionable food quality and terrible service is well known throughout the country. That fact suggested to us that the corporate mindset at the top of the organization was not only accepting of these problems, but possibly bordering on being complicit in their manifestations. We could conceive of no other reason why such activity would be tolerated by a public organization of this size. I dare say we will never return to this establishment, nor will we patronize another Red Lobster restaurant in any location until we are convinced through credible sources that the above issues have been addressed and adequate remediation is achieved. read more

I was in there on October 26th and had the worst experience I have ever had at a red lobster. I have to first admit that this used to be my favorite restaurant. And I mean, used to. They have gone downhill so much over the past 10-15 years it is crazy. My server continuously walked by me. I ordered the four course meal which was very reasonably priced. My first two courses came slow and out of order. They were good at the same time though. I got the fire grilled tilapia as my entree and waited more than 25 minutes for it. The waiter kept walking past almost as if he was avoiding me. He visited the table behind me 6 times to every one time he visited mine. And yes, I started counting when it got obvious. He finally came to my table and said that he doesn't understand what was taking them so long. I didn't either seeing that the tilapia is about the fastest item to cook on the fire pit. He then went back and to the kitchen and arrived with my dish. I was able to take three bites of the fish before I couldn't eat any more of it. It literally tasted like someone cooked it with a butane torch. You could smell and taste fumes in the meat. It was disgusting. As I was finishing the rice and broccoli, the waiter comes over and hands me my dessert. In my head I am thinking, are you freaking kidding me?? Why in the heck would you bring someone their dessert while their entree is still sitting in front of them?? But I politely told him I want a to-go box. He asked me if I wanted one for the fish. I told him it was the worst fish I had ever eaten and that no, I didn't want to take it with me, and then asked for the check. Another five minutes goes by with yet another two trips to the table behind me before I got the slip to sign. I saw him talk to a manager and noticed the manager walking towards me, so I decided to wait on signing the slip to see if maybe he was going to offer a discount or coupon for a future visit. He asked a table of elderly people if their food was good, then walked right past me without even looking at me. That was it for me, my very last time walking into a red lobster. And the poor service from the waiter got him a big fat $0.00 tip. It was the first time in my adult life that I didn't give a tip. I usually give between 20%-30% everywhere I go. I almost felt guilty doing it too because I am a decent person. I do feel very strongly though about people doing their jobs and working like they enjoy it, even if they don't. read more

We decided to have dinner for my mother's birthday on a whim and we were thinking seafood sounded good. There was not very many people in the restaurant yet the atmosphere was cold. Our server seemed to be in a rush to clear out her section, pushing us through our four course meal in under 30 minutes. Came here a few days ago, and had Brett as our server. Best server we've had yet as we could tell he was very busy but when he was face to face with customers he appeared very calm and collected. He checked up on us occasionally and in a timely manner as well as remembered our orders and other customers' orders even without a notepad! Wish I had read the reviews on this place before we went. Thankfully, we had a gift certificate and a coupon. The food is ridiculously priced. The Red Lobster in Muskegon is so much nicer, better food, and much lower prices. The fish was absolutely tasteless. And, the waiter forgot to give me my debit card back. I know I should have noticed it, but, was concentrating on the tip. When I called the next day and asked if they had it, they said they did and I needed to bring ID to get it back. I asked if I could have it mailed as I live an hour away. They said they couldn't due to identify theft. Who would be calling and asking about my debit card except for me? I am just so so disappointed tonight. We took my parents and siblings out to dinner tonight to celebrate a special event. We haven't all been out to dinner together in at least a year. And this is the first time that I have ever been able to pay for my family's meal. This was a big night. We chose Red Lobster because our family has been going there for 15+ years and we always have great food and great service. Tonight was the worst dining experience I have ever had anywhere and I'm out $140 and super disappointed. We had a party of 9 and were seated pretty quickly for a Saturday night, within 15 minutes. Our server Huy was friendly. But then everything went downhill. We ordered drinks, but it was another 10 minutes at least before he was back for our food order and another 10 minutes before we had our drinks. We were seated by 7:30 but didn't receive our meals until 9:00 (we only ordered salads and meals - no appetizers). We. Were. HUNGRY. When we finally got our food, it was terrible. Most of it was barely warm, some of it was actually cold. My sister's steak looked like a jerky hockey puck. My stuffed flounder was burned on the bottom and sides. ALL of our food was crusty on top. ALL of our shrimp was tough. My mom sent hers back due to her burned flounder, cold shrimp and cold broccoli. The rest of us were really just too hungry and didn't want to wait even longer than we already had. Somehow in all of this they brought us an extra flounder that they claimed we ordered but did not. My sister spoke with the manager whose response was "What would you like me to do about it?" They came back to our table and offered my mom free desert but at that point it was almost 10:00 and we had tired young children. They did give us my mom's replacement for free, but we shouldn't have paid for anything but our drinks and salads. That was the worst overpriced dining experience I've ever had. And I'm out $140 on top of it. I've always said Red Lobster was my favorite restaurant and was hoping to eat there more in the future, but this was so awful I'm not sure I can risk the few times we actually get to eat out on such a bad experience. I am honestly not sure why there are so many negative reviews here! We went here last week for my birthday dinner. The food was amazing and the service was great! We left a big tip as this is what we do when we get good service. Our server was on point, clean, and very detail oriented. Our food was incredible! We enjoyed the All You Can eat Shrimp fest! Variety, taste, and fast service were all there. And they were quite busy! Bathrooms were clean and the overall appearance of the place was good considering it's an old building. They probably could bump up the lighting a bit and maybe update the facility as far as decor goes, but it certainly wasn't bad at all! I say 4.5 is a good rating for our overall experience last week. read more
