I'm not above visiting chain restaurants, especially when I have a gift card. This was my first time visiting this Outback location and it was packed when we arrived at about 6:30 pm on a Friday evening a couple of months ago. Luckily we were able to grab a couple seats at the bar. The two bartenders were hustling hard and the atmosphere was fun and a bit chaotic. We gathered that there were many regulars dining that night, which made for lots of hugs and chatting amongst visitors and servers. Even though they were slammed, the bartenders provided service with a smile. I usually always get the same thing at Outback - a filet with Caesar salad and a veggie side. We started with the coconut shrimp which were delicious, super crunchy on the outside and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. Our food took a little bit of time to come out of the kitchen, but we weren't in a rush. My filet was cooked a little closer to medium than medium rare, but that's on me for forgetting that I usually order my steak rare at Outback. It was seasoned well and tasty, so I was happy. The steamed broccoli was slightly mushy but I still got my veggies in. It took quite a while for us to cash out after our meal but overall we had a good experience. We live less than 10 min away from Alpine Ave, so some of the chain restaurants there end up being somewhat of a staple for us. We got here early, around 4:30, on a Saturday and waited for less than 10 min for a table. It is not too loud in there! We got the 13 oz ribeye with fries and broccoli and the 6 oz Victoria filet mignon with sweet potato and broccoli. I realize that ordering medium rare at an Outback may be risky, but would rather have my steak undercooked and send it back to cook longer, rather than have it overcooked. And that's exactly what happened; my filet mignon was definitely rare, but about 5 mins later the waiter brought it back and it was delicious! And the manager gave an extra sweet potato (loaded with butter and brown sugar) with it. We were pleased to be seated for dinner with just a few minutes wait on a fall Wednesday evening. Our server was great and the bar area was festive but not obnoxious. Our steaks came out cooked correctly as we ordered. I opted for light seasoning because Outback, like most steakhouses, has a heavy hand with salt. Our asparagus wasn't trimmed well and was over cooked. Our server took it off our bills readily and would have brought us another side if we had wanted. Overall, a good dinner. read more

We were seated as soon as we walked through the door, Ashely was right there to take our drink/app order and had our bread out so fast! Our food came out quick and it was delicious. Ashley went above and beyond for us and made my husband's birthday dinner a success! The restaurant was so clean, and if we had a dirty dish it was taken care of right away. We ended up at OutBack after 3 restaurants told us they ran out of Prime Rib on a Saturday night before 6:30pm. We have always had great food & service here but was trying other local establishments-but they failed miserably. The staff was accommodating and pleasant. Our server went and confirmed we could have Prime Rib. Our drinks were delivered and within 2 minutes Prime Rib was placed in front of us-even before the Caesar salads. No worries. The salads came 1 minute later. We had everything we had searched the city for that night and were very happy. The Prime Rib was excellent as usual and the service was exceptional. We were celebrating our 46th anniversary and Outback exceeded every standard we were looking for. Even the young gentleman host was more than excellent in helping to get our food and check on the food quality. As a past Area Director for Steak & Ale Restaurants (MI & MN) I can say the entire staff exceeded the expectations and met all service points, food presentation and food quality. First, I want to say we were driving from Kalamazoo to Muskegon. Go to Outback all the time in Kalamazoo. The food was good, but the service was not. At least our waiter. He rarely came back to "our" table. To others around us often but just not us. Waited a very long time to even place our order even though we kept seeing him going back time to time to other tables to see if they needed anything else. Enough so we thought maybe he forgot and thought he took our order already. He was serving 4 tables, but still. We finally got to order, and the food was done and out quickly and was really good. Even after that we rarely saw our waiter to even see how things were and if we needed a refill on our beverages. Won't stop there on Alpine on our drive again. The steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes were spot on too but the asparagus was not very tasty. We were there about a month ago and right before it's the season for asparagus so that might be why. The kid enjoyed her chicken tenders and the waitress was stellar. Spot on with our refills and extra helpful with drink suggestions. A bit pricey for a chain restaurant but they are worth it as their quality is 15x better than a place like Applebee's. read more

The burger lacked flavor, the lettuce (o/s) had some brown spots. Even the Mayo on my burger was cheep. Even the salad was lame. It like how I remember it as a kid. They had a weird mixture of music playing. Some pop, some country... My waitress did a good job. I'll come back b/c I have a gift card, but once that's gone, I won't return. I am not one for chain restaurants and stick to more local ones so when my family decided to come here for Easter I was a little apprehensive. To my surprise, there were a few things that looked good on the menu. I decided to go with one of the steaks that also comes with two sides. I picked the sweet potato (minus the brown sugar and honey butter, but kept the cinnamon) and the broccoli. I ordered my steak medium. There was a large group of us and a couple waiters served up to keep up with our size. This was a very smart move and appreciated! The food didn't take too terribly long to make and everyone's meals look great, except mine. My steak ordered medium definitely came out pretty well done. I told the server and she said it would be fixed right away. I did get to enjoy my sides but then was left sitting there waiting for my steak still after everyone finished their meal. The manager came out and hand delivered my steak. Before he handed it to me he asked me how I ordered my steak. I replied, medium. He said yea that is not medium and gave me the new steak. (not sure why he asked but maybe it is protocol). The steak was done medium and cooked perfectly. Much to my surprise the steak had quite the kick of spices on it and made it hard to eat. Ok so we are all on quarantine and most of us have birthdays that we can't celebrate so we would like to make it as special as we can; especially for our children. I came to pick up the food and waited only like 10 minutes and I live far from the restaurant, so we drove far to make our birthdays somewhat special since all of us were born in March and April. We had plans like most Americans on their birthdays but we can only make the best of it as we can. We get home and the 30 oz of steak looked like 16 so of steak, only the bottom of the pan was covered, trust me only enough for two people. Then I call and speak to Amber the manager and ask why we only got 3 salads for 15.99 and the order was supposed to feed 4-6 people per their website. Then I explain this to her and she stated the steaks were 5 total that were 6 oz a piece which is impossible. I asked to speak to the owner and she said he wasn't there today: I then called back but they wouldn't answer and used another phone and they answered right away. Amber answers and I tell her. The side dressing for wings was supposed to be ranch and all I got was bleu cheese; after checking my order it was all wrong, my wings were supposed to be mild and they were plain and a cup of bbq sauce was in there. So you spend 198.00 plus a 30.00 tip and they are not taking their jobs seriously. Originally when I first called Amber stayed she checked the order and I know if she did she didn't really check it because is it possible to get everything in the order wrong? When I explained this is ridiculous she stated I am not arguing with you. I love this location!! I tend to be 'that customer' when I dine out. I have to customize absolutely everything. I try to be cheerful about it, since I realize how difficult I am. Don't worry, I like to believe I tip to make up for it. lol So, they have a server, Audra, who always goes above and beyond, with a wonderfully cheerful attitude. I request her every time I'm there! She is always friendly, and though I am sure I talk to her too much, she has never let me feel like I do. She's so animated and happy. I feel very welcomed when I see her. I hope management doesn't let this one go!! The food is always delicious, and my husband and I enjoy dining there. Great staff, and tasty eats, makes me a very happy to return customer. Do I need to even mention the warm fresh bread they bring to the table? So good. They also have a rewards program. First time I went to this location with my family back in November 2019, it took 75 minutes to get our meals. It was all mediocre, although they served my mom raw chicken. The manager came over to the table and apologized, seemed like in a hurry. Fast forward to yesterday, my husband and I decided to get curbside pickup and I was willing to give them a second chance. I ordered chicken tenders, which were drenched in oil. The fries were cold and soggy, and the broccoli was stuffed in a bag inside the food container. At the bottom of the bag, there was a pool of butter that made it look very unappealing (I only ate a few of my chicken tenders and called it good, couldn't finish) My husband ordered chicken pasta. The chicken wasn't cut into pieces, just a slab of chicken thrown on there. There was green onions in the pasta, which doesn't state in the menu description. A part of me wishes I took pictures, but I was upset on both occasions that I ate quickly just to not feel hungry and fully taste how horrible it was. My husband was also pretty upset. Definitely the worst outback I've been to. One star seems fair when a restaurant can't get something as simple as a chicken tender meal to be decent. read more

I was totally blown away and honestly a little surprised by how much I loved this location! Everything was great. Our server was really nice and anticipated all of our needs. We were celebrating a birthday and she even brought us a complementary dessert. We started our meal off with the Bloomin onion, a classic, and a round of drinks. The cocktails were strong and the Bloomin onion was even better than I remembered! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, Not to mention piping hot. I once read that this is the most unhealthy appetizer in any chain restaurant but if that's the case it is totally worth it! I loved the brown rolls as well that had a bit of sweetness to it, super soft and warm but unfortunately very filling. For my entrée I got the Bloomin fried chicken sandwich. The chicken itself was super crispy and juicy. But the pickles were more like cucumbers with vinegar and the bun seemed stale. I'm not sure I would get it again, but I saw that they had French onion soup on the menu I knew I immediately had to get it. I chose that as my side for an up charge if 3$. It was worth it and it tasted pretty good. I did not realize that this chain have French onion soup! The other people in my party got salmon and steak. Steak was cooked correctly, and came with two sides. The mac & cheese side was a stand out! Creamy and a huge portion! My boyfriend got the cheesecake to go as his complementary birthday dessert and he said it was better than the cheesecake at Martha's Vineyard. We've been an Outback supporter for years, but the quality of the food and service has continued to go down hill. Our family ordered three steaks tonight for dinner and all three came over done. For the price and being a steakhouse, you'd assume that's the one thing that would be executed flawlessly. Unfortunately we might be searching for a new steak joint. Update, 2/1/19 We keep trying and they keep failing. Service tonight was lacking terribly. The bloomin onion was half cooked and still raw batter in the center. Some steaks were under cooked, some over cooked, and the seafood on the plate soaking in steak juice and not hot. I dread that my wife loves the steaks here because that means we will have to come back again. Get it together Outback!! read more

I'm gonna give a big shout out to my waitress Lauren I believe. She was amazing! She was very sweet and apologetic for our food being late to our table. She went out of her way to make our experience the best despite us waiting for our food. I complimented her on how hard working she was. It was crazy busy, and I told her she was dong a great job. When my food finally came out it was very delicious. I ordered the prime rib, which sometimes I'm sceptical on ordering at chain restaurants. Needless to say, it was prepared perfectly and was one of the best prime ribs I've had in years. I will definitely go back just for it and request the same server. She said we made her night and appreciated the compliments. It gave her an extra spring in her step. My daughter even told her she was the best waitress we've had! So, Outback for steaks? Gift card says yes. Not bad. My steak was decent, veggies good. But here is where it gets good. Garlic. More specifically garlic mashed potatoes. OK, the specific item is really the garlic. They didn't go cheap on the garlic. They really socked it to those potatoes. And for that, I thank you. My garlic loving self couldn't be happier and will happily eat them anytime. The service sucked.
