OK, hear me out. I don't do chain restaurants often if I can avoid them, but since moving to this tiny town, there don't seem to be many options that are any good. Most of them have left me saying, nope I'd rather cook at home. There are a few exceptions in this tiny town for sure, but mostly it's fast food. We decided, what the heck, let's give the old RL a try! I have to say I was surprised. I expected it to be oh so bad, but to be honest, it was decent! Our server was a kind young fella who had a warm smile and actually acted like he wanted to wait on us. He was attentive and ensured we were satisfied when dishes arrived. The salad and cheddar biscuits were spot on, like I remembered from so long ago. Nostalgia on a plate! I really do adore those biscuits! And my pasta dish was enjoyable! Even the calamari was crispy and had a nice texture. All in all - I have to give it 4 stars! I'd go back if I didn't want to drive somewhere else and wanted seafood. read more

We've seen the ads where the new CEO was talking about changing things up but leaving the Cheddar Bay Biscuits alone. We decided to try them out after several years of avoiding this previously favorite chain. We were very favorably impressed!! Our server, Ethan, I believe, was attentive without being obtrusive. The food was delicious, I got shrimp 3 ways, my hubby got one of the "bagged" meals. We brought 1/2 of it home!! I've always loved the seafood decor, the lobster tank out front (but I could never pick one for myself). We'll definitely be back. read more

Terrible service! A boy named David "waited" on us. More like we waited on him. It was at least 10 minutes before we were asked for drink orders then another 15 to get drinks. Both my wife's and my food came out incorrectly. It would have been one thing if the boys attitude were anywhere close to good. He didn't seem to care about the job he has whatsoever. The interior is so dingy and old. I decided to ignore this and head over there anyway. Last time we went, which was a year ago, the food was great. This time, the food was not good. It started as soon as the menu was browsed. Everything was expensive except for combo deal. However, 97% of those were shrimp and worse than that, my favorite dish was no longer on the menu. I asked if there was anyway I could replace any of the shrimp with anything else at all. Ofc not. So I ended up with lobster tail, shrimp with breading and shrimp with coconut. The amount was a complete joke. A couple small handfuls of shrimp and the lobster tail was super tiny. The food itself felt overcooked and lacked almost any flavor except salt. In the end I left with a much lighter wallet and still empty stomach. I will not return. read more

Rough. Limp salad with some brown spots drowning in generic blue cheese-- clearly not all RLs use the same blue cheese. Clam chowder- cold and bland. Mussels- my husband pointed out to the waitress that 6 didn't open. She brought him a mini fork and said that RLs closed mussels are safe to pry open. (Looked it up, they are ok to open unless you open them and they have a foul Odor-then they are not safe.) He did nOt open them to check their odor. Salmon - good. Broccoli had black spots, but after the odd mussel response, I opted to just not eat the broccoli. Strangest experience ever at an RL. read more

My husband I went for Valentine's Day. As busy as they were everyone had a smile on their face and were so friendly. Our waitress was awesome, the bus boy was running around clearing everything so others could sit quickly, and the cook (Jazz) was amazing. Everything had such amazing flavor, came out hot, the lobster and scallops just fell apart. My husband is an amazing cook and felt the need to ask to speak with the chef since they are always behind the scene and don't get the recognition. Not only did we make sure she knew how much we enjoyed her meal, but we also gave her a tip, and the bus boy and our server. All of these people spend the day on their feet, busting their butts so that we could all celebrate with our loved ones. I'm sure they were yelled at and rushed all day long. Take the time to realize the sacrifices others make, so that we can enjoy ourselves. I'd definitely recommend the one in Oak Ridge TN. They're amazing. read more

I visited Red Lobster on Merchant's Dr in Knoxville, Tn. Haven't been there in years. First, I checked wait list online and there wasn't one. Got there and 5-8 groups were seated before my party. Waited 25 minutes for a table. No one else was waiting. No one the entire 25 minutes. There was only 5 of us (4 adults and 1 child). No problem, prob understaffed, right? Ordered our food, waiter wasn't great at etiquette but he tried hard and was friendly. Food was horrible. Horrible. Over sauced, noodles over cooked. Basically un-edible. No one at the table was happy with quality of food. I was really let down from the time I walked in to leaving. I am not looking for coupons or a refund. If I were the manager, I would want to know why there wasn't waiting on a Sunday evening and why patrons won't be back so I could improve my store. I remember a few years ago, you had a legitimate hour wait because everything about Red Lobster was great. Not so much now. Maybe COVID, maybe setting standards low, could be both, could be either. I avoid chain restaurant simply because the process is streamlined to maximize efficiency and profit. I feel the culinary art gets short changed to maintain consistency. That said I had a long travel and work day and decided to give the Oak Ridge Red Lobster a try. The place is clean and has a very well kept appearance. The staff were all attentive and focused. Lots of dining area however the booths are slightly cramped and the tables are bolted to the floor. The menus is clear and has a wide spread of price points however expect a minim of $20+ entrees. The biscuits they bring to the table are crazy good so try not to gobble down all 4 because they will bring more. You have been warned. I had a lobster scampi dish that was very good. Lots of lobster meat but all claws and knuckles don't expect tail meat in this dish yet it isn't missed. I highly recommend Red Lobster but for my taste I'll keep the visits to a minimum. read more

I don't eat at Red Lobster often and after this visit was reminded once more of why. The place was almost empty the night I was there, but the staff was rather slow and honestly just acted like they had other things they would rather be doing than serving me. Food was just okay, portions were rather on the small side for what they charged. I just wasn't very satisfied at all and most likely will choose to take my money elsewhere from now on. read more

My husband and I have not eaten at red lobster for years due to the fact that the service was always crappy and the food was never fresh it had MSG in it ...but tonight we had a gift certificate so we thought we'd give it another try. It has improved over the years; really friendly from the time we walked in the door and were greeted by the server. I was happy to learn that not all the food had MSG in it anymore which made me feel better because that means it's fresher but my husband and I dinner tonight was most delicious. I had a whole lobster with all the sides and my husband had the fried platter. I guess my only complaint was that it would have been nice to have the manager come over to the table and greet us while she was doing her walkthrough when there wasn't a lot of customers in the place. Hubby and I had an long overdue lunch/dinner today, and we went to the Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Red Lobster because, unlike the ones in Knoxville, this one is without mold. I didn't think to photograph our meals (hubby probably wouldn't have wanted me to, anyway), but I had a meal with both fried and shrimp scampi, grilled scallops, some lobster, and for sides a baked potato and a garden salad. Hubby had a make your own meal with salmon and grilled shrimp, baked potato and a Caesar salad. Most everything was delicious! The only thing that I didn't like was the soggy salad that tasted like it had been frozen then thawed out, and I didn't think to ask for the dressing on the side, and it was drenched in it. The potatoes were a big improvement since the last Red Lobster meal that I had long ago, and the seafood was delicious, only I couldn't eat all my meal. Hubby ate all his but later wished that he hadn't, lol. It was a very pleasant experience, and our waitress was very patient, friendly, and attentive to us. I will definitely return to this one although hubby had sticker shock since it had been so long since we had eaten out together at a nice restaurant. read more

My first visit to Red Lobster at this location. It was packed on a Saturday night with only a few open parking spots. We had a short wait in the lobby, given a pager to know when our table was ready. 3 of us all had the Endless Shrimp for $15.99 each with drinks (coke/tea) for $2.49 each, our bill was $60.85 with Tax. Each of the different kinds of shrimp were all great. Our server was nice and friendly, there was a wait between refills but as I said the place was packed to capacity. 2 out of the 3 of us ended up with upset stomachs by the time we got home. I'm not going to blame it on Red Lobster, I think the food might have been a little too rich and we just ate too much. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and would recommend to others. read more

We went to RL for Mother's Day. Dropped off my daughter to get a table and estimate of wait time while we parked. She signaled us to come on, immediate seating. We were told our table was being cleared, so we sat down to wait. In the meantime THREE more parties, larger and smaller, were seated immediately...ahead of us. No explanation, no apology. We did ask for a table, rather than a booth, but one party could not have used a booth, it was too large. After coming here for years this place has officially hit bottom. Walked in Sun night around 7pm and the host immediately started making excuses about the service being slow. Our section was not that full, but our server managed to be invisible. Handed us menus without welcoming us or saying anything at first. She didn't say 'hi' until I did. When our food came, she literally banged it on the table in front of us without saying a word. Never refilled our tea or water once. At the end of the meal, I had to go to the host stand to request our check. I grew up in OR and consider it a friendly town, however, Red Lobster has managed to hire rude people and at least one manager who doesn't seem to know how to train servers. Went on a Sunday night. It looked busy but not super busy. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get a seat. When we went back to the dinning room there were a bunch of empty tables some even with dirty dishes piled up on them. Seemed to understaffed but things were moving along. Our waiter took our drink orders for our party of three adults and two 17 month olds and we waited about 15 minutes for them to come out. Then our order was taken and we were even told come one couldn't substitute a side for soup, which the waiter later told the lady at the table next to us you could for a charge. We waited another 15-20 minutes for our salads, which two contained numerous pieces of soggy brown romain but we never said anything. The two soft drinks we ordered were bad and asked for new ones which took another 10 minutes. After our salads were done and our plates taken we were told our meal was completely my soon and another 20 min passed. Before they came out and about had it we spoke with a manager. Who didn't really do anything. Our food came warm like been sitting there a while. We asked for an extra plate and more biscuits that never came. We were NEVER asked or given refills on our drinks. The manager finally came and checked on us and after learning our experience offered to pay for our meal, which was very generous of her and we were hesitant to do because we of course had eaten it. Our waiter, after learning our meal was taken care of ignored us the rest of our time there. Straining to keep his back to us the rest of the time. Very disappointed.
