Have been here twice. The first time we had a wonderful server who spent time with us and really made the experience exceptional. She brought extra cheddar bay biscuits and even sent some home with us. On our second visit, we had none of that. One basket of biscuits were all we received. The food didn't seem as good either. Less portions and less care in presentation. It's a nice restaurant and we enjoy it. It probably just depends on the cook and the server you get on the day you go.

Honestly you can't go wrong with Red Lobster (unless you have a seafood allergy of course). The fam and I went here for dinner on a Saturday. The lot was easy to park in and we only had about a 5 min wait. We got there last the dinner hour so we got to choose the booth to sit in. We got two orders of the pineapple shrimp for an appetizer. Their pineapple sauce that goes with it is delicious and we always ask for additional cups of it. For dinner we ordered the 2 pound lobster, lobster linguini, grilled trout with rice and green beans, and the chicken burger. They brought out the delicious cheddar biscuits of which we had two baskets. The food came after about 15 minutes and since they were out of 2 pound lobster they gave us the 3 at no additional cost. Win! The lobster was incredibly hard to open so our waitress got some out and then send it back to the kitchen to open. They eventually got it and brought the rest out and we feasted like kings. The food was great, although I miss their rice pilaf. The rice now has quinoa in it and the texture isn't great since the rice tastes overdone and the quinoa not enough. Service was great and I plan to come back for lobster fest.

Shrimp Linguini Alfredo and Salmon (Dinner)

We called ahead and made reservations. They seated us right away. Our waitress was Ashley and she did a very nice job. Friendly and very attentive. Dinner was good. Clam chowder rich and creamy, salmon done perfectly, and the shrimp Alfredo was delicious. Of course those cheddar biscuits are yummy as always.

Gave my girlfriend food poisoning on a date. Didn't like the under baked dough in the biscuits. Apparently not very well seasoned either.

Special kudos to the hostess with long, black hair who kindly let me use her handbag holder while I ate at the tall table that I didn't want. I had gotten used to table 49 which I had 3x. Loved the sweet petite oysters, the lovely, tall, prosecco glass, bread with 3 kinds of butter, 20 Oz ribeye but that HANGAR STEAK with chimichurri on top of baguette??? JUST GET IT!!!! It was a wonderful surprise!!!! I enjoyed every minute and every bite!!!!! Didn't love the thick bacon dish with a shot of bourbon. Tried dipping, pouring, the flavors didn't work well. Enjoyed Ghost Pines and Daou by the glass. Delicious! If you're a wine lover, and you're just having a glass, I highly recommend the Justin Isociles. I did not enjoy Minnesota at all except for this lovely restaurant that I happily spent $120 to $200 for my solo trip. If you're not so spendy and you're Asian? Go to Stone Pho for lunch. Another yummy place.

The servers were nice, but my server was not attentive at all. She would be standing next to my table at the bar and walk past me at least three times before I had to flag her down to get help with something. The food took about 20 minutes to come to the table and it was blander than bland. I ordered the coco-fish-bull, patty melt, and a popover. I enjoyed the coco-fish-bull because of the sauces that were served with it. Nothing had any flavor at all. I took two bites of the patty melt because I didn't want to believe it didn't have flavor, but my tastebuds were right the first time. The presentation was exceptional, but there was no taste to it at all. The popover was flaky and light, but it also had no flavor. The butter they served with it was good. The restaurant wasn't too busy. It was a dimly lit space with a long bar and high boy and regular tables. It also had booths. I liked the proximity to the hotel I was staying in, but I wouldn't eat here again unless I was sure the food would taste good.

My wife and I had never been to--or even heard of--Baldamar, so when our friends invited us to…read moreRestaurant Week there, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to give it a try. From the hostess who graciously held the doors open for us in the 95° heat to our incredible server, David, everything was outstanding. We started with cocktails. I had what may have been the best bourbon Old Fashioned I've ever tasted, and my wife enjoyed a wonderfully refreshing cocktail (whose name I, unfortunately, can't remember). We began our meal with the roasted Brussels sprouts. Normally, I'm not much of a Brussels sprouts fan, but I happily cleaned the plate. My wife and I shared the 12-ounce filet mignon, cooked medium rare, and it was absolute perfection. Chef's kiss. David recommended a bottle of wine to pair with our steak. It wasn't inexpensive, but it was worth every penny. But wait... there's more. As incredible as that wine was with the filet, it somehow paired even better (yes, I know that sounds impossible) with the slice of heaven they call chocolate cake. I'm sure it has a much fancier name on the menu, but "slice of heaven" seems more accurate. If you've read my other reviews, you know I have a tendency toward hyperbole. If there were ever a time to lean into it, this is it. THIS MEAL WAS FANTASTIC. THE AMBIANCE WAS PERFECT. THE FOOD WAS EXCEPTIONAL. AND THE COMPANY WAS DIVINE. We will absolutely be back--and when we do, we'll be asking for a table in David's section. (He works Tuesday through Friday.)

I started with the tequila and mezcal Old Fashioned, and it was fantastic. It was well-balanced, beautifully presented, and garnished perfectly. The food was equally impressive. The wings were delicious--crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. My only small note would be that the celery was a little limp. The Caesar salad has officially been added to my regular rotation. The jammy egg was cooked perfectly with a rich, yolky center that was still easy to slice. The Parmesan crisps were thoughtfully sized, adding great texture without being so large they scraped the roof of your mouth. The salad was evenly dressed, making every bite flavorful. Overall, excellent food, outstanding cocktails, and warm, attentive service. I'll definitely be back.

Sadly I wasn't able…read moreto try their food, but the food from the @tipsysteer looked delectable in any case and I will need to visit again to give it a try. Aguavarita: This was a Gose that had agave and guava added which gave it a nice balance. The tartness from the core Gose sour style leveraged the sweetness of the agave / guava to taste nearly like a margarita. Hazebiscus: An extremely fruity and juicy Double Dry Hopped IPA. The use of this year's Pink Boots Blend (HBC 630, Idaho Gem, Loral, Talus, and Triumph) gave off raspberry and red currant on the aroma with a huge blast of grapefruit, citrus, and raspberry on the flavor. A medium hop bitterness rose in the finish. Very enjoyable DDH IPA in addition to $3 per pound of the hop blend donated to the Pink Boots Society scholarship fund (which High Pines used 44 pounds) Home Improvements: A black lager with sales being donated to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. Medium-thin body with a lot of roastiness for a lager. Pitch black, bitter, and refreshing. Beyond the roastiness, there are medium-low dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans on both the aroma and the flavor. Still refreshing on the warmer summer days.

The space is quite large with open seating - something I'd expect is great for a large group. I asked if we could combine some tables and the staff said they'd do it for us. We ended up having a table for 8. While more people in my group showed up than expected, we ended up adding a few more chairs. With the open seating and lots of tables available, we thought it would be fine. However, the staff didn't seem to be too happy with us. Our group had not gotten together in a while, so a couple of us had switched chairs to talk with different people. The server said in a very rude way, "You guys need to stop switching seats. I can't keep track of your orders and you want this on separate checks, right?" We had never asked for separate checks and I would have offered to pay on one check if it made it easier, but she left right after saying that. Towards the end of our stay, after paying and enjoying some last minute shakes (around 9:15pm, they close at 10), the same server started putting away the metal chairs VERY loudly and carelessly while we were still finishing up. We all watched her throw the chairs on top of each other as we stayed silent because we couldn't hear each other over her stacking them. We took the hint and left. Everyone inside the restaurant followed after. I assume because they, too, felt awkward as she was loudly cleaning up. The food was mid at best, the beer selection and unique combinations are great, but the bad service made the experience miserable. I didn't notice the server treating any other guests as bad as our table, so I am just not sure why she treated us the way she did. I definitely won't be back.

It was a TEAM effort and it showed. Service was outstanding. My wife ordered the Salmon Sofia. Not sure what that is exactly and I don't care. It's salmon. To me, it's gonna taste bad no matter how great you prepare it but she said she loved it and would definitely get it again. I had the Italian Pasta if I remember correctly. Slightly spicy cajun pasta with sausage, chicken, shrimp, peppers and onions. It was amazing! There was quite a bit of it in the bowl. My wife says, "Wow, that's a lot. I took a seat on the patio while I waited for my friend to arrive...and I waited a good 10 minutes for the server to bring menus and eventually water. When my friend arrived it was probably another 5 minutes before they came around again. My friend ordered an iced Chai and I stuck with water because they didn't offer brewed iced tea. (Note to restaurants: Stop getting the fake tea from the fountain pop machine! It tastes horribly.) There was only one server and a manager (or the owner). There weren't that many tables but it was noticeable their staff was stretched very thin. One we placed our order, it would be another 20 minutes before we'd see our food. Only after I stopped the manager when our food would come, he popped in and came right out with our dishes. The food failed. My friend ordered the Ropa Vieja Benedict and I had the steak scrambled. My friend stated the eggs and meat was cooked perfectly but the basil hollandaise sauce was made with mustard (powder) and he could barely take two bites before stopping. My steak scrambled was cold along the edges, the eggs, were cooked well, but the steak wasn't seasoned and even the salsa was bland. We had to flag down our server (again) because she failed to check on us, to ask for the checks. Thats when my friend said he wasn't going to take the food home nor did he think he should pay for it. Keep in mind this was just breakfast so I can't speak for all the other offerings but given this experience, we won't be back.
