When I knew we were coming to League City for two weeks, I started my Yelp restaurant investigation. Red Oak Cafe is a restaurant we hadn't visited before and it's super close to my sister's house. Today was the day. First, the ambiance. The restaurant is clean and has some cute touches including the lighting fixtures and some iron work here and there. The tables and chairs are not fancy. The walls are nearly empty with the exception of the oak tree and biblical verse that covers most of one wall. It's just a little plain overall. Our server was very nice and helpful. The time it took for our breakfast to arrive was just about right. It was clear our meals were prepared after our order hit the kitchen. I had the Guacamole Toast - house-made guacamole, tomatoes and sprouts atop thick-sliced wheat toast. It had a bit of a kick and a lemony flavor. It was quite tasty. It came with hash browns, which were surprisingly delicious. They weren't extra crispy, which I like. Rather, they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Sometimes hash browns can be a throwaway, but these were a wonderful accompaniment to the guacamole toast. I ordered a side of bacon - three pieces. They weren't super crispy, but they weren't limp. Once again, as with the hash browns, the bacon was cooked perfectly. It was actually a delight. Mark has the Hot Mess Bowl - two biscuits, two strips of bacon, two sausage patties, scrambled eggs and country gravy served with hash browns. Jalapeño gravy was an option and our server mentioned the meal could come with a half country and half jalapeño. Mark asked about the jalapeño gravy. She said it was very good so Mark opted for all jalapeño gravy. The meal was accidentally served with both gravies. Mark said having it would be fine. He cleaned his bowl so it was clear he enjoyed it. It was a LOT of food! Even mixed, the gravies were definitely spicy. While Mark loves spicy food, if he were to get this meal again he'd stick with just regular country gravy. The food and service were great. The ambiance was definitely lacking. I wavered between a three and four star review. Because food is ultimately the most important thing, I opted for four stars. If half stars were a thing, I'd give Red Oak Cafe 3.5 stars.

Big breakfast with eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuit, and strawberry/Oreo pancakes.

We went because we heard amazing reviews about their sweet cream pancakes, and we were not disappointed! The entire meal was a treat! My daughter and I shared the big breakfast (pictured) and brought home leftovers. Our pancakes were strawberry and Oreo and as you can see from the picture, we couldn't wait to take a picture to try them, delicious!! The sweetest part of our visit was our server Linda! She was so sweet, gracious, and attentive, make sure you ask for her!!

If you're looking for a great cup of coffee and delicious food Red Oak Cafe is your spot. Lots of coffee options and creative choices for food. Pro-tip if you order a meal with the sausage gravy try it half regular and half jalapeño. Always friendly and always clean this place is a definite must.

Eggs with bacon/ hasbrown (part of the biscuit and gravy plate)

Amazing breakfast... I had the biscuits and gravy plate... I requested my gravy on the side since I asked for the jalapeño gravy and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it... well I LOVED IT. The plate comes with eggs bacon and hash-brown... honestly 2 people can it from this plate since the portions are big. We also had a stack of pecan pancakes and they were delicious. The place has multiple bible verbs thru out the restaurant which we love. Place was clean and our waitress was amazing too!

The big breakfast @14.95 you can't beat this

This was by far one of the best places I've been in awhile for breakfast and at the price I paid for it let me tell you it was well worth it. The ambience of the place quaint and quiet, somewhat of a homely feel and still and quiet like library people are just concentrating on eating. Very different from any place I've been because the bathroom you can leave words of wisdom on sticky notes on the wall to give people I suppose for inspiration. All in all I give this place and A++, so if your long for breakfast to eat off of all day and maybe into the next this is the place to go.

I always enjoying dining here especially for breakfast, the portions are huge definitely worth the price. But recently I went at lunch time & tried their pick 2 and I chose the chicken salad on a croissant & their tomato basil soup. Neither one was good, they both lacked flavor. The chicken salad was bland & dry the tomato basil soup was bland as well and there were chunks of carrots. Not the tastiest meal I've had there.

So disheartened coming here on Sunday. Checked in online, so wait wasn't an issue. The vibe was just different though, my family of four waited for food for over 40 minutes. This seemed unreasonable as other diners that came after us, received their meals before us. Server was negative and I suppose stressed. Told us "Denver paninis aren't on the menu anymore, not sure why they don't update it. Don't order the granola French toast, it's not good." If we come back, it'll be a while. We have always loved Red Oak Cafe in League City, so we were extremely excited when we learned they were opening a new location in Alvin. We were finally able to have lunch at their new Alvin location, yesterday, and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was nicely appointed and cozy, and the service was great. Our server, Jazmine, was attentive and friendly, as was the manager on duty. The food was excellent - sampler, and pancakes (didn't get a pic). They are still ironing out some minor kinks, which is to be expected on opening day, but it was a smooth and enjoyable dining experience all-around. This is probably one of my favorite places to eat in Alvin now... the food and service is amazing and the atmosphere is welcoming... waiting at times can be long but one of the few places I am ok with waiting at. Highly recommend this gem in Alvin.... Ps don't forget to check out the stickum wall in the bathroom and leave your words of encouragement and wisdom for others.. a neat touch. read more

Coffee was really good. Pancakes are very tasty, probably don't need the syrup. Seriously, they're that good. Grits with cheese and jalapeño has kick but not overly spicy for a breakfast item. Service was prompt and attentive. All requests were met with a smile and helpful demeanor. I fully recommend. read more

Great food and excellent service! The hostess, waitress Madison and manager Caleb were all so very sweet! There was a super rude lady ahead of us upset about waiting for a table and they were still so kind and patient with her. I appreciate the great service we received and recommend Red Oak! I guess because this location is new, it isn't nearly as busy as the League City location, but it's just as good. As far as I know they have the same menu. I have a lot of food allergies and this place lets you customize your food. They also have a pretty large menu. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy, but we didn't have to wait. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating and the restaurant was clean. I had the build your own scramble with spinach, jalapeños, and cheddar. It was very good and I love the hash browns as well. I also really loved the salsa. I will definitely return. read more

The staff is super friendly. The menu is extensive and I love the fact they have breakfast and lunch menus. Coffee was a bit weak. The strawberry pancakes (strawberry mix in is extra) were delicious. The breakfast platter was more than enough food and I wish I would have ordered that. The sampler comes with three choices of sliders and either soup or salad and a choice of either strawberry or banana nut. I would omit their pimento cheese since it is literally shredded cheese on a bun. Not good. The potato soup was good. I can't wait to go back and try other items. Mainly breakfast. read more

Tried this "new to Alvin" restaurant this morning. We expected a wait and it was about 30 minutes at 9am. Waitress took our order and brought drinks but then disappeared. Refills were not provided (I know it was busy and she might be new to this job, but she never came to check on us). We waited about 20+ minutes for food to arrive. It was delicious when we got it! Eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuit, Belgian waffle, and pancakes ...we tasted everything and it was ALL yummy! Waitress was quick to take our money though. Will be back for lunch someday soon! read more

I was looking for some fluffy delicious pancake and pretty tired of Ihop and Denny's. Wanted to try something new. Came today and we found our new fav. Fast service. Manager comes over to ensure everything is good and staff is excellent. Greeter is friendly. Mandatory mask when you walk in and out. All employees properly wearing masks at all time. Great food. The kitchen sink quesadilla and hot mess bowl have been the biggest hits at our table. Also love the ability to use the virtual waitlist on Yelp. We are able to get in line when are leaving church and never wait more than 5-10 minutes once we arrive. Only improvement area would be that the waitstaff is super busy so it's hard to get refills without flagging someone down. read more

Came in for brunch on a Saturday. This was our second time back as the first experience was wonderful. We drove 35 minutes to get there. We were seated promptly by the very kind host but then things fell a little short. Our server didn't recognize us for about 5 minutes. My wife's coffee did not come until after the food had been served and I had to ask another server to assist as our original server was no where to be found. I ordered the BERTA which explicitly states "eggs" as the "E" in the acronym but was then charged for both eggs on top of the $10.75 price tag. I inquired if this was a mistake and was told that the eggs were an extra charge. All and all, I would come back but certainly would like to see the service be consistent time and time again and be fairly charged for what I ordered. read more

The dream started with Friendswood resident Kim Oravetz and her very popular recipes combined with the inspiration received after losing one of her children, her first born and beloved Justin on December 5, 2007. Justin was an imposing figure standing 6'4" tall and was a "man's man" but after a few minutes in the presence of Justin, you quickly realized he had the heart and personality of an angel (a really big teddy bear). Justin never met a stranger, loved being around people and had a passion for serving others. After losing Justin, the Oravetz family planted a special tree in his honor... a Red Oak tree. To our family, the Red Oak represents a strong and powerful tree and it has become the foundation of our little café. We are here to serve the community!

We are the proud new owners of Red Oak Cafe! We are high school sweethearts married 36 years and parents/ friends to 5 grown kids! We are so excited to serve the community of Alvin and surrounding areas and provide lots of good food and fellowship!

There's a keto menu as well and you can make most of the tacos a bowl or get them lettuce wrapped.

Our start off at red oak cafe was rough and to be honest if it wasn't for the service we received from our server Tara, we would probably not come back. The host were rude and incompetent. We were told "our computers are down so he patient." When others who came in after us was seated before us (and yes I know about the no wait app but they said it was not working so no one was being added with no wait app) when asked why we were quoted 15 min and it was almost 30, Brooke told us oh we must of over looked you. The visit changed once we were seated! Tara greeted us promptly and with a bubbly attitude. She asked if this was our first visit and when we said yes, she took the time to walk ya through the menu and talk with us even though she was busy, you would if thought we were her only table. She told us what her favriots were. I ordered the big breakfast with pancakes and the food was cooked well and the pancakes were good. My wife got the Berta and it was really good. The bacon wasn't cooked to my wife liking yet Tara took it back and corrected it right away! You can get eggs and pancakes anywhere but the service at red oak is why we will be back! read more

Omg!!! What can I say about this place, if I could give it 10 stars I would! We happened to stop by to see when they open, and they allowed us to come have lunch their during their soft opening! This is the best food I have ever had in Alvin! The San Angelo spinach salad with bacon dressing was amazing! My husband had the Texas hash, it was delicious and my son had the pancakes! Everything was so amazing, let's talk about this pancakes, life changing pancakes! Not only is their food amazing, it's the best service experience I have had in a long time! Tara welcomed us like we were long lost friends, explained so much about the food and really took the time out of her day to make sure we felt welcomed! She was amazing!! We went to the soft opening of this cafe for lunch. The food was great and our waitress, Delaney was friendly and helpful. I had the turkey sandwich on a croissant. Yummmmy. The croissant was light and fluffy like it's supposed to be and the turkey and veggies were fresh. I had a side of guacamole and chips. Top it off I had the sawdust pie. Well what can I really say? This place is truly special, host/waitstaff are very friendly. Kitchen is top notch! The owner even is a sweet lady and you can tell that she cares about your experience. Food portions are perfect and delicious...the one and only knock would be the small parking lot, but that's beyond their control. So get there early and you shouldn't have a problem with that. read more
