First let me start off by stating the food here is amazing great flavors, filling but not too filling to where you feel sick. Now, as far as staffing is concerned, there is not enough people to deal with the flow of people coming in. Took almost 20 min to get waters. This is the lords pancakes ! This is my go to breakfast place in Alvin and league city ! The Alvin location is new just opened up the food is great the atmosphere is wonderful and the people are even better . This is a place you can go for lunch or dinner and feel like home they are very Christian based restaurant with the customers as their number one focus . They have a very unique waitstaff that will get to know you and you're family the more you come . They arnt perfect and no one is but by god they close to it . I can't and haven't been able to stop telling people about this place for years and I have yet had one person say they didn't like it !! The lines can be long which should tell you this place is got something going on . They do have the yelp no wait which is a game changer or you can just call ahead . I can honestly go on and on I really do love this place and the people who made it what it is today don't take my word just read the reviews or better yet try it for yourself . I had heard great things about the Red Oak Cafe so maybe my expectations were set too high. The main problem is the level of service was severely lacking. You can tell they have an inexperience and young waitstaff. We waited around 50 minutes on a Sunday morning for a table. After being seated, it took another 5 minutes for someone to ask for her drink order. Since we had wait so long, we immediately ordered our food and drinks. It took another 5 minutes for us to get our water and our food arrived about 20 minutes afterwards. The food was lukewarm and it was obvious it had been sitting in the kitchen for at least 5 minutes. It's very hard to screw up eggs and bacon but eating lukewarm food is not ideal. We ordered the biscuit and gravy dish and the server forget the biscuit and gravy. She had left our table when we realized she had forgotten this dish and we didn't see her for 5 minutes and then we had to ask another waitress to bring out the biscuit and gravy. The server was a nice young lady but we only saw her a few times and she would disappear for long periods of time. With regard to the food, we order the biscuit and gravy egg/bacon plate, the bertha and a short stack of nutella/banana pancakes. My daughter liked the bertha but she didn't mind the food being lukewarm. Nothing was spectacular about the eggs or bacon. The biscuits were good but the gravy was uneventful. I prefer ground sausage with the gravy instead of the little sausage chunks we got. The pancakes were ok but there was too much nutella on them. We had to take most of nutella off the pancakes. Some customers may like all of the nutella but for us, it was just too much. There seems to be other items on the menu that customers like but I doubt we will return to try them in the future. Kelly's, right next door, does a very good breakfast/brunch/lunch and that establishment is well managed with a good wait staff. read more

Soft Opening at the new Alvin location was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is beautiful, bright, and spacious. Every detail has been well thought out and executed, even the restrooms! The food is the same great food Red Oak has been offering for years at their League City location. Our server, Caleb, was great! He was attentive, thoughtful, and fun. I took my mom for an early lunch and we both really enjoyed the meal. The ambiance is nice, but not pretentious. The menu is varied and inventive. I had the Johnny cake jambalaya which was tasty and just spicy enough. Next time I'm definitely trying something from the breakfast menu. My friend and I went for lunch today, we both had the sampler. The sampler consists of choice of 3 small sandwiches, soup or small salad, banana pudding and fruit bread. We both got chicken salad, tuna salad and pimento cheese sandwiches and tomato basil soup. The bread on the sandwiches was stale, so hard we didn't eat it, the tuna tasted spoiled, chicken salad was ok but the pimento cheese was good. The bananas in the pudding were black and mushy. The waitress was told that the bread was stale and inedible and the tuna was not good. Her only response was "oh okay." The sampler with and iced tea was $17...so not worth it and will not be going back for lunch. We both were nauseous with 20 minutes. read more

I've been to this little gem twice in the last month. Once with my fiancée and the next time with a large family group. Both visits were great with prompt and. Rey happy servers. The decor is adorable, and reminds me of Magnolia Table, it has the same modern farmhouse rustic vibe. While there is a very long wait for large groups as you can't join the waitlist early, they make it a bit easier on you as they offer water and coffee while you wait. If you are in a group of 7 or less, I highly recommend you join the wait list on your way so you are seated faster. The biscuits and gravy are so good and the blueberry pancakes were fantastic!!! My fiancée had the French toast and said it was very good as well. We can't wait to come back and try out the lunch offerings if we can steer clear of the fantastic breakfast menu. read more

I had the 3egg scramble and upgraded my toast to keto toast and subbed avocado for hash browns. They also use the really big cups, so there isn't 4 sips and your drink is empty! read more

We visited this location for the first time yesterday. We had been to LC location several times, even had my wife's birthday breakfast there last year. They do everything right, all the time. Their waitstaff trainee was even better than most seasoned pros elsewhere. Finally, we enjoyed our visit with the manager who stopped by to check on us. Their portions are very generous, from my very large short stack (awesome with chocolate chips and pecans mixed in) to my wife's Hot Mess Bowl. With this location being closer to home than LC, we will definitely return. read more
