First time trying this location. Our usual is League City. This is just as great as the original. There's less of a wait and Yelp sign in is awesome to minimize the wait. The restaurant area seems slightly bigger and less crowded. Surely, as word gets out how good this one is, you'll find more tables placed in the open areas. For now, I enjoyed the space. They now have a kid's menu which I had been waiting for. The menu portions were always too much for my kiddos. I highly recommend it. read more

Excellent food. All of their food is good. They have this coffee that isn't their normal brew. They get it from somewhere special. It's has a pecan flavor. It's good. And the panckaes....melt. The staff is very nice too. read more

The call ahead & App reservation policy is unfair and is the deciding factor for me to go to another restaurant when I would have gone to yours. Myself and two friends, one being Someone we wanted to introduce to your Restraunt, got up early and arrived about 930 making a reservation in person. At 10:15 we saw several other people drive up and walk in ahead of us. It was only then did we find out that the 20 minute wait we were told was trumped by people who made reservations while sitting in the comfort of their homes. It showed that no matter what effort I took to come to your restaurant I would not be fairly put in line. What was a 20 minute wait turned into a 40 minute wait and only because we made it known to management was it quickly corrected. Manager and wait staff are excellent but the policy is failed putting your staff and customers at odds. read more

Been here before and rated very high. Not so great last Friday. It was 11 am but I did get the standard breakfast, two eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. The hash brown was over cooked and quantity was low. Sausage ok, I've had better. Not sure why they don't have butter and jam on the table since it's a breakfast spot? Something to add please. My wife had tomato basil soup, which was not what you expect. No cream, big chunks of tomato, and she took out actual basil leaves. Tasted more like marinara sauce than anything else. Definitely should be changed up. Her king ranch casserole was bland, stale chips and hard time finding the chicken . The biggest issue they have is I can go a block down and pay less for more breakfast at Kelley's and at least today, would be better. I hope they improve because we really liked this place in the past. No problems with service, good as always. read more

Man, finding this establishment was such a treat. After having a difficult morning, finding a very warm and inviting place to eat was a great deal of relief. We were able to enjoy breakfast with my girlfriend and friends, and the staff really made us feel at home. We will definitely be coming back and tell our friends about this place! read more

What a wonderful restaurant! We went for breakfast but will be back to try their lunch menu soon. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is wonderful, the staff is friendly, and the restrooms are clean. Be prepared for a wait at times because the secret is out and it's a popular spot. The sweet cream pancakes are the best I've ever had, so tender and THICK with a delicious sweet vanilla flavor. And the biscuits are large and fluffy, the way you imagine biscuits should always be. Went here around lunchtime. The host didn't realize what time it was and we were handed a breakfast menu. Shortly afterward, she realized her mistake and gave us a lunch menu. I ordered a panini and corn chips on the side. The sandwich was great, but the chips were stale and the sauce on the side was extra. If we would of known sauces or dips would be extra, I would of asked for potato chips instead. Who orders corn chips without salsa! read more

Very disappointed. My daughter and I went for lunch and although we got seated right away and our order was taken fast, we ended up waiting on our food for a good 20-25 minutes. I wouldn't have minded the wait if the food had been good.; but it wasn't. We both ordered the 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup. My chicken salad was pretty sad - a few chunks of chicken meat in a little mayo with a piece of lettuce and onion and although it was a half sandwich there just wasn't anything to it. The potato soup would have been good if it wasn't lukewarm (barely). Then the bill/tip was $26 - so definitely not worth that. And I didn't even get a drink, just water. The restaurant decor and atmosphere were great though. I was just hoping for a great place to go here in Alvin that's not a chain. read more

We live in Clear Lake but drive to the Alvin location just to see Kristie!! The food is always great and comes out perfectly the way we ordered it due to KRISTIE!! She is the best we have ever had, always smiling and super friendly! She makes our morning!! She is very meticulous with your order. If you are a regular, you can guarantee that she will have your order already taken down and ready to go over as soon as you sit in your seat. We don't even have to tell her our order anymore!! The only thing good about this place is Logan and the manager. Everytime I have come, they struggle to make a simple over medium egg, get burnt bacon (even when specifically asking for lighter cooked bacon) and my hashbrowns always tasting stale. I work as a cook in a breakfast place and have for 7 years, so I'll never leave without paying for my meal but I have been 4 times to the Alvin location just to get the same result. Oh, and I also can't forget the 2nd time I had visited and our waitress spilt our entire tray of food all over our laps and after asking about the unsalvagable food to get remade, she said no that we would have to speak to the manager. My family just ate at The Red Oak Cafe in Alvin and I can't say enough good things about this cafe! The first thing I noticed is the "feel" of the cafe...I love the decor but it is much deeper than that...almost a feeling of being home. There is music playing quietly in the background and everyone is smiling and talking and eating, just like around the dinner table at home. You can hear each other and talk in a normal voice. Our waitress Kristi was so friendly and had an awesome sense of humor (easily bantering back and forth with our party) She was a great and such an awesome addition to our experience. The food came quickly and was excellent! The menu is so extensive we could go eat for weeks on end and try something new every time (which will be a problem since we all loved what we ordered and ate today!) I will force myself to try new things because so much interested me today and our neighboring tables food looked so good!! I definitely plan to go back!! read more
