I was looking for great thai food and I read the reviews here so based on the time of day and limited Thai restaurants open I picked here. I arrived and was a little unsure because it was a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall and I am a Thai food lover. Strike 1. I wanted to eat in, but I got mad at this place for having such limited dine-In Hours (11a-2:30p) because I like to eat my food inside the restaurants while hot and fresh, however.....that wasn't an option due to my late afternoon arrival. Strike 2. So since I was there, I ordered my Thai classic favorites. Drunken noodles, Tom Kha soup, and fried spring rolls. I sat inside and waited as people who called ahead streamed in and out with their takeouts. My food arrived fresh.....i immediately opened my food in the car expecting blah imitation thai food.... but SURPRISE!!! The drunken noodles were A-1! I smelled the soup.....tasted it....KAPOWWW!! My tastebuds were elated! The veggie spring roll was tiny fir the price but it was good. I'll try a regular roll next time. I tell you, they are now at the top of my list in the Raleigh area for Thai food so far! I look forward to returning to Raleigh so that I can include a stop there on my way back home! read more

My husband and I were attempting to try the Jamaican food truck that just so happened to be across the parking lot from Red Pepper. The food truck was out of most of the items we ordered so we decided to try Red Pepper. The reviews were definitely accurate. Plenty of parking but we were able to park right in front of the restaurant. This was on a Wednesday and it wasn't packed at all. The smell inside the restaurant let us know the food was going to be good and we were not disappointed. The food was fresh, they gave us plenty of condiments and the price was reasonable for any good Chinese takeout restaurant. I got the beef and broccoli which was pretty good and my husband ordered the Terrayaki chicken. We would definitely come back and try. Only missed out on one star because I don't remember receiving a fortune cookie. read more

Very good Asian takeout in the middle of a sketchy shopping center. They have such an extensive and unique menu and I would highly recommend trying and supporting this local business. We got an assortment of things to go-green beans, fried fish, Thai basil, Singapore noodles. It was nicely packed and the clerk was super friendly. I was impressed by how much food was packed into the containers. The green beans were okay, not as crispy as I would have liked but still flavorful. The fish was crispy and Thai basil was also pretty good. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the Singapore noodles -I was blown away. Now a favorite of mine but it wasn't so, the first time I went. N my first visit, I ordered food for my family of 4 and I don't remember what it was but I remember thinking it was super bland. About a year later I decided to give it another try because it is so close to my house, and I found out they accommodate GLUTEN-FREE!! I have now had Mongolian beef, several bouts of Pad See Eew, and today, my absolute new favorite is the Thai Green Curry chicken soup ohhhh my stars that is just the thing I've always wanted. For some reason, I pick up a flavor in there that reminds me of whatever I loved about those creamy chicken ramen packs when I was young, except of course that the quality and nutrition of this soup is far superior. Great place for Chinese and Thai dishes in Raleigh! They also have an extensive Vegetable & Tofu menu which my friends and I appreciated. Ok, I found it. Finally, a delicious Chinese food restaurant in the Raleigh area!! I've been craving Chinese/Thai food for awhile, so I stopped in here today for a takeout lunch after reading the rave reviews. Based on the Yelp reviews, I ordered the Chicken curry noodle soup and the Thai Basil shrimp. WOW!!!! The sweet heat and freshness of both dishes was a welcome change from the nasty, greasy, mushy Chinese food that is available by my house. First the Chicken curry noodle soup: I LOVED the fact that the broth was separated from the chicken/tofu/fresh homemade noodles/bean sprout/fresh green beans/scallion base of the soup!! You have to use both a fork and a spoon to eat this amazing dish, and I loved the coconut curry broth and those fresh noodles! I've never had a dish like this!! And now the Thai basil shrimp: OMG...they are very generous with the amount of shrimp they give you. The shrimp are not those lame baby salad shrimp, these are the big, tasty shrimp, that soak up all the flavors! I loved the vegetables, the rice was hot and fresh, and that chili fish sauce will leave you craving more!! I have enough leftovers from both dishes for two people. It was served with fried wontons (which I asked for sweet and sour sauce to dip them in..sooo good). The service was excellent and clean I then ordered the Singapore noodles ( excellent price!) took my first bite and my eyes opened wide because of the unexpected deep flavor equivalent only to a 24 hr marinated steak! The warm dish was irresistible and delectable the whole way through. I was in a please haze the whole time.... yes it has won my heart. Perfect blend of pork,eggs, shrimp, sprouts and green onions! I swear I reviewed them before, but okay. I love Chinese food. I still remember the old school restaurants with shined silver trays of food and just thinking about it makes me hungry. Okay this place doesn't have the silver trays, but the food is so amazing. My two favorite dishes are the Malay Shrimp and the Thai Basil Eggplant. I like it spicy and if you ask they will make your food as spicy as you like. Side note eggplant is not just for Italian food. It is amazing in lots of Asian dishes. If you like eggplant give it a try. The service is good and fast. I get take out but they are usually full for table service especially on the weekends. read more

From the usual strip mall Chinese sesame chicken to pad see ew to shrimp with Singapore inspired sauces - it's all good. I venture out and try a few things but have enjoyed the shrimp dishes a lot. They are large shrimp and I feel you get a fair amount. Flavors of sauces are always good. Everything comes out hot and delicious. You can order online through their website and I find that easy. You still must pay in store at this time. Covid precautions are solid. Nice flow through to pay then exit. Plastic curtains over the register and prep areas. No indoor searing. Just finished a meal, and the food was great! Service was fast, almost too fast, and the meal was delicious and the prices were fair. Started out with the wonton soup and then had their spicy Beef pad Thai. The wanton soup and fried wonton strips were great! The Beef Pad Thai was also very good. It's advertised as "spicy" but I thought it was more of a 2 our of 5 for spice. But that's not a bad thing. It added nice flavor to the pad Thai which usually can be a bit bland. If you're looking for something with real kick though this isn't your dish. My only complaint was my soup came and before I had eaten even a full wonton my main course came. The restaurant was fairly empty so the kitchen probably just whipped everything up quick, but I'd have preferred a bit of time in between so I could enjoy the soup and the pad Thai wasn't cold when I got to it. read more

Interesting remake of what used to be Fortune Palace, the owners have opened up a new spot in E. Raleigh called Red Pepper Asian! Located in a very quiet strip plaza, Red Pepper has a nice menu of Chinese and Thai dishes with Malaysian mixed in. I order up paper-wrapped chicken, Singapore rice noodles and Sambal shrimp and string beans. The interior is comfortable and casual, it takes 15 minutes for my food and it's excellent. Tender, flavorful chicken, slightly curried rice noodles and spicy, shrimp with a bit of heat. Overall I found all my dishes pretty authentic and well-done. Red Pepper Asian does not disappoint - the interior was attractive and intimate, and the service was prompt and courteous. My food was excellent. Had a vegetable spring roll along with Kung Pao shrimp. Both were great (wish the kung pao had been a bit spicier but the peanut sauce was delicious). There also is an authentic Chinese menu on the back that I want to come back and try. Great fast food Chinese restaurant in shopping center with Hamrick's. Large selection of lunch specials. I had a sweet and spicy chicken, it was plentiful and delicious with lots of vegetables. I think the thing that sets red pepper apart is that the flavors are there and the food is cooked fresh. It is not tasteless buffet food. Tucked away in an area far far away...in Raleigh. This is a hidden gem on New Bern Avenue in a quite shopping area. The inside is well decorated and clean. The menu is unique with just the perfect number of items to choose from. The flavors are on point and I mean that with all of my heart. The dishes that I ordered featured "red pepper" flake.
