We ordered at the counter, and while the menu is a little pricey, it was apparent when our food arrived that everything Red Perch is dishing up is very high quality. I also love that they carry Bravazzi -- which was a fun companion for my meal. I went with the Katsu Chicken Tacos, which are packed with flavor and texture! The chicken was perfectly crispy, the tortilla soft and warm, and the toppings fresh and bright. This was actually a very large portion size, and I was only able to finish two of the three tacos. What a great surprise! So much better than expected. I had the smash burger and it is definitely my new favorite burger in town. My coworker had the sword fish and it was incredible! I would go back just for that sword fish. Seriously. A must try. The staff is very friendly and outgoing. The place is small, with only a few tables and 2 very narrow bar tops for eating at. Visited Red Perch for the first time. It's open seating and you order at the counter first. Sadly, a baby spider decided to join my table. Their fish (other than cod) changes daily so it's nice to know is fresh. I had the fish of the day and it was flounder. I enjoyed the meal overall but it became too salty toward the end. During a recent visit to Nashville, found a nice place to have lunch. Located off of Charlotte Ave. and amongst other local eateries, Red Perch is on the front of the complex. Parking is at the rear of the complex and a bit of a walk. The inside of restaurant is on the small side with just three tables and with counter seating as well as seating outside. You're greeted by the Australian owner and he points out the chalkboard on one end of the counter to order from. I ordered the Katsu Chicken tacos and a soft drink and my buddy order the cod and chips. We were lucky enough to get an open table before another customer walked in. Our food was prepared in the fryer and prep table in view of customers and was served within 15 minutes. My order came with 3 large soft tacos with a large piece of fried chicken that was sauced with a sweetened sauce but wasn't too heavy. It was topped with a heaping helping of chopped veggies. The taco had a nice contrast in texture and flavor with the crunch of the fried chicken, the veggies, and the soft taco. The meal was filling but wasn't heavy and was very satisfying. The staff is friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. I'd recommend others to try the food as well as beverages as they also serve alcoholic beverages. Was going for a burger and saw Red Perch so a burger became fish. The restaurant is on the second level so look for a flight of stairs. The place has a few bars to sit at and a few tables inside as well. There are also a few on the patio. Beverages were limited to a few but there should be something for everybody. There is also a few beer choices. I neglected taking a pic of the menu; shame on me. First we ordered hummus which was delicious. For the fish one of us had the cod and two had the fish of the day which was flounder. The fries are hand cut daily. It was refreshing to have fish and chips that were not greasy. Worth the trip from Mount Juliet to sample these delicious Australian/Island inspired dishes. We ordered a smattering of things including their signature Cod & Chips, filet sandwich, and the grilled mahi plate. Hands down the Cod & Chips was amazing. The breading was flavorful and perfectly fried. The mahi was also exceptionally prepared. The white rice was just that, white rice, but the side salad it came with was surprisingly scrumptious. Honestly, the filet too was awesome. There wasn't a bad bite the entire lunch. Bonus, my wife and I each ordered a beer. Australian fish & chips, how I didn't know I needed you so in my life. Red Perch is an upscale, casual spot, located at the front of the new Sylvan Supply complex (ie parking is easy & plentiful!) The space itself is not huge (wouldn't come here with a group greater than 5), but there is indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of bar-style seating. One daily cocktail + a decent wine and beer menu, so you can get a lovely buzz on here. It was hard narrowing down what food to order - the menu is VAST with a lot of specials. With advice from the cashier, I got the fish filet (their fancier take on McDonald's filet o fish) with chips (fries) and the sourdough butterscotch pudding for dessert. I also got their cocktail of the day (gin, grapefruit, thyme - super delicious & refreshing!) First, this was the best fried cod I've ever had and having lived in Boston for 6 years, I've eaten a lot of cod. Their tartar sauce is homemade and while it makes the sandwich messy, is the perfect mix of tangy, creamy, crunchy to balance the lightly salty and crunchy of the fried cod. Now let's talk about those "chips" aka the best damn French fries I've ever had. Like, how dare they make something so tasty and crunchy and perfect and make me want 10 more orders of just fries? (And how dare they have not just ketchup but malt vinegar available for the fries... as every dining establishment should.) I thought perfection in my meal had already been achieved, but THEN they brought the most perfect bread pudding I've ever had. Warm, caramelized gooeyness, soaked delicious sourdough, raisins for a bit of tart (I think?), and a scoop of HOMEMADE vanilla bean ice cream slowly melting into the rest of it. This dessert was a work of art. Like, Michelangelo could only hope for perfection like this. Parking is free in the lot. Walk towards Charlotte Ave and one of the entrances is next to/facing the sidewalk up the stairs. I was a bit confused cus I've never been before but I found my way eventually. You order at the counter and if drinking water, get your water at the next counter. I grabbed a whole carafe. Not sure if I was supposed to do that or not but the cups are small and I was thirsty. We ordered cod and chips and shrimp banh mi. Cod and chips were very tasty. Not too oily, fried just right, and decent portion size. The fries were delish. The tartar was different tho. It was rather herb-y. The shrimp banh mi was also enjoyable. It was huge. I didn't know how to really tackle it. The shrimp was gigantic but it was a little too oily mixed with the pickled veggies. So there was a lot of liquid ooze dripping out of my sandwich. It got pretty messy, especially since I added sriracha. Altho it was pretty good, the banh mi was missing pate. That's my fav part about banh mi but I understand that they weren't going for the more traditional Vietnamese banh mi feel. Also, staff is very friendly. I would love to come back. Riley was great and met us with a nice hello and then explained some of the menu items with specials of the day. The space is super inviting and comfortable with some outside sitting area. Order from the counter and they will take your food and drink to your table. We order the calamari with as stated on the menu lightly breaded and was very on point! Best calamari we've had since leaving Rhode Island! The flounder and chips were light and cooked to perfection. My wife enjoyed her poke (salmon) with seaweed salad and sweet white rice. I had a orange ale from Tailgate Brewing and she had a glass of blush wine. A perfect meal and great experience overall. There's no way I'm not giving Red Perch a five star review. I traveled from NC and this place has been on my list for a while now. I kept it simple and got the fish filet with fries. They take a simple concept and over execute the final product in a good way. The 1/4 lb cod filet was panko breaded and amazing, served either house made tarter and a slice of cheese. The only negative was the bun was cold but not a big deal. The fries were epic, crispy, salted and hot. Highly recommend!! read more

Went for a late lunch a few minutes before 2pm on a Tuesday. Saw they had a happy hour menu that started at 2pm so waited a few minutes before ordering at the counter. It was pretty empty in there. I came here to eat since I had seen so many reviews with five stars, and I have to say that I (almost) completely agree. We had to ask a person at another store for directions because it was kind of in a hidden place, but we were able to locate it. We had no issue finding seats inside on a Thursday at 6 PM, and it's extremely nice indoors. I was really amazed when I ordered the chicken katsu tacos. The tacos were dressed with tonkatsu sauce, kewpie mayonnaise and mint, among other things. My only reason for giving this place anything less than 5 stars is that they were stingy with the sauces. To be honest, I've confused this place initially with another restaurant with "red" in the title that primarily serves brunch, so I haven't been here to visit until I went with a group who picked this spot after some other options were crowded or not open. The restaurant is small and casual; it would be a nice, fast lunch spot if you work nearby and was also great for dinner, but we were a little cramped for 6 people if you can't sit outside. They offer wine and a few cocktails including a homemade froze. The froze was whiskey based and really good! it was sweet but not overly sweet and they offered a decent selection of wine. We started with the lumpia and calamari appetizers. The lumpia was cut up into bite sized pieces and served with a dipping sauce. The calamari was nicely breaded and fried with a sauce spread on the bottom to use. Both were really good and nice appetizers to share. I decided to get the katsu chicken tacos which were absolutely delicious. They were served with perfectly fried chicken with fresh herbs and a nice lightly dressed slaw, topped with fresh lime. They were really good and two filled me up perfectly, but came with three so I was able to share. I also sampled the grilled Vietnamese Shrimp which was flavorful and good, but quite messy to eat. I also tried the steamed mussels which were lacking in flavor and the biggest letdown. They were bland, which was odd since everything else we had was great. We came here for an early dinner or a late lunch after the movers finished dropping off our stuff. Their restaurant space isn't huge but on our visit it was a nice day and they have outside seating on a narrow long balcony in front facing Charlotte Ave and the complex's courtyard has tables and chairs also. Their staff hustles but you can order in advance online to save time as this place was very popular on the Sunday afternoon of our visit. I lucked out and the Fish of the Day was Flounder. It tasted like it had just come out of the ocean. I have eaten a lot of fish and chips but never Australian style nor with Flounder. Red Perch has set a new high bar.
