I thought the food was pretty decent. I had the sausage and chicken plate. The sausage was alright. It was supposed to be spicy, but I suppose for some people it probably would be. The chicken was awesome! Had the dark meat (leg and thigh) so it was definitiely juciy as well as falling of the bone. Top that with their awesome bbq sauce (which was warm) and it made it that much better. My 2 sides were green beans and mac and cheese. The geen beans were nothing spectacular but you know you need your veggies! The mac and cheese was pretty good, nothing to slap your mama over though. First of all, they have an amazing patio that I don't believe enough people are enjoying. There's so much seating and tvs, so I'm making this a new favorite local patio of mine during pleasant weather. I'm not a fan of BBQ, but I wanted fried pickles so I figured I could get a chicken sandwich or something that wasn't slathered in sauce. The good was the pickles. They tasted fresh and weren't too greasy. Not too much batter either. My husband liked his brisket plate and the mac and cheese. He said the brisket wasn't too thin or dry like other reviews have stated. The bad was the fried chicken breast sandwich I got. You basically get two fried breasts on a small bun. That probably doesn't sound too terrible, right? Well it wouldn't have been if it weren't for the fact that the breading on this fried chicken breast was twice as long as the chicken. There was about an inch of empty breading all around this thing. It just made it messy as well as making me feel a bit cheated. That said, the french fries that came with it were pretty decent. I would come back here if I wanted fried pickles again, but I'd maybe get a brisket plate or a grilled chicken sandwich. Or maybe just a salad at their salad bar. They have a small selection of beers in both pitchers and bottles. Facilities are cleaner and bigger than most bbq places. Prices are average for bbq. Tried Red River BBQ for the first time today. I ordered a two meat plate for $15 that included mixed brisket, regular sausage, baked beans, and potato salad. Overall, very disappointed in the food for the price point. Brisket was chewy, poor flavor, and low quality. The sausage and baked beans didn't taste homemade and are also low quality. I prefer a mustard base potato salad, so the potato salad wasn't for me. The high point was the young man working the register. I believe his name is Caleb. He was polite, courteous, and very welcoming. Unfortunately, I won't be back, and I can not recommend this restaurant for bbq. There are better options in the area. read more

We go here probably 2-3 times a month, especially after windsurfing. The BBQ sauce is wonderful. We always order the 3-meat platter and this allows you to choose your meats, but we always select the regular sausage, ribs, and brisket with a side of beans and potato salad. It also comes with cornbread, and a small container of pickles and onions. The portions for us is a little large for one person, so we usually just order one 3-meat platter and order extra sides. Oh, and we also get the pecan pie. It's so yummy. Very moist and sweet. Overall, we do enjoy the food, but sometimes the potato salad and beans can be a crap shoot. One time the beans will be spicy and the next time it'll be bland. The potato salad can be bland as well and that can be disappointing. We always call in our order and get it to go. The one thing that bothers me about going in to pay for my food is all the peanut shells on the floor. There is a large bin of peanuts offered to the customers, but some people just throw their shells on the floor. The restaurant, in general, is clean, but there are times those peanut shells just disgust me. The one thing I can't stand is a dirty restaurant. I can't tell you much about their bathrooms, but visiting a restaurants' bathroom is an indication of how clean they keep their restaurant, especially the kitchen. read more

The food is great, some of the best barbeque I had. The only reason they get a 3 star and not 5 star rating is the service I have had the last 3 times I placed a pickup order. I know their pick order business has boomed because of COVID-19 but each time I went in there were several people standing behind the counter sort of not doing anything. Each time my order was missing some component. The first time I had ordered two plain baked potato with brisket barbeque and explained over the phone it was because of a dairy allergy. When I picked it up I was assured the potatoes were plain and dry. Got home and ne was covered in butter and the other had butter and cheese. This last time I ordered, yesterday, I was told the regular number of barbeque sauces are one per order, I ordered two barbeque spuds and a barbeque plate. I asked for 3 extra sauces. They read the order to me when I picked food up and said I have 6 sauces. When I got home there was only 2 sauces, net even the minimum usually placed much less extra. Like I said there were several people behind the counter and no one eating in house. No excuse for not getting orders right with that many people working. Great Family Place!!! I have taken my family there several times. They just built a new outside, covered patio area with a little sandbox play area good for probably 7-10 kids. Totally underrated. I really enjoy these guys and have been going here for a year or so whenever I'm in Katy. There are a bunch of options. I don't really eat pork, yes, the irony, but they have an incredible Turkey Swiss BBQ sandwich. It is just so unbelievably good. Throw in some onions, pickles, jalapeño bread (so good!!!!! make sure you request it), and the sauce, and it's a wonderful match. As for pork fans, my partner in crime really likes their pulled pork bbq sandwich. Sides are just okay. I like their fries and the potato salad is okay, but really, the magic is with the sandwich. You get a decent sized order too! The sides are about what you'd expect. Service is a mixed experience but this is only an issue when you do To-Go. Staff is nice and friendly, but inconsistent with handling orders. Always check your order if you're doing to-go. Seriously. Be specific about which items you want as well because some items can be fairly similar to one another (so don't just request a turkey bbq sandwich - request the turkey swiss bbq sandwich). If you're eating there, even when it is crowded, I've found it to be quite quick. Atmosphere is fine. I like sitting outside in the back, and there are fans running when it is hot. I got 3 pieces of slightly thick brisket that was about 60% fat. It also had a strange smoke flavor. The sausage was bland and tasted like something I could have bought in the grocery store.
