I checked into Red Roof Inn expecting a reliable, no-frills stay. The price was reasonable, and I trusted the name, so I didn't think twice about booking. Unfortunately, the condition of the room was far from what I expected. To start with the positives, both the evening and morning front desk associates were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, that was where the good experience ended. The room itself was in very poor condition. The lampshades were visibly dirty, and one even appeared to have what looked like a speck of blood on it. There was a thick layer of dust--about an inch--on the back side of the TV, which made it clear that the room hadn't been properly cleaned in quite some time. One of the "clean" towels had visible skid marks on it, which was honestly shocking and unacceptable. It didn't stop there--there was mold above the door and also on the bathroom wall. Then, upon checking out in the morning, I noticed a tissue hanging from the ceiling in the shower. That was the final straw. I did inform the front desk associate when I checked out, but I'm still stunned at the overall state of the room. This goes beyond a simple oversight--it reflects a serious lack of upkeep and attention to cleanliness. I hope Red Roof Inn takes a closer look at this location and invests in the maintenance and sanitation it clearly needs. I arrived on June 20 in the evening and I got a room that was the corner next to the busy 246 and kind of creepy gas station and the first thing I noticed when I walked in and smelled like a dirty ashtray and a bar from 197 there were proceeded to be so many dead live and larva bedbugs everywhere it me and my husband I pulled the bed back and there wasn't even sheets on the bed. It was a dry mattress with two dirty, thin comforters on top. The place was filthy. The floor was so filthy. I took my socks off and they turned black the man at the seemed to and said that we the only thing he can do is upgrade us to a king room down the hall like five doors. This one is just as fucking nasty so many dead bedbugs in different stages of decay and living that I was crawling out of my skin if I didn't have a very important wedding and Father's Day to attend here in Lompoc, I would be staying somewhere else. I'm actually thinking about recommending everyone to stay at the motel six down on Central. It is a pleasant place with a lot of scum and cold water year it's a lot better than this place Not to mention the owner or manager. Bindi is one hell of a gal she likes to be confrontational and last time we were here and complained about our cable being out then she proceeded to have her maintenance man who looks like he just got out of prison yesterday with a joker tattoo on his face and teardrops on his other cheek he came to my room mind you I am a middle-aged white woman staying by myself so he comes up at 12 o'clock wanting to say that the Front Desk need to proof of my payment which I had paid for it was in my credit card and then two hours later, he comes knocking again saying that they didn't get paid and that since I went through Priceline, they don't like that at the front desk they wanna get paid immediately and I said I paid and so he left and then came back again at 2:45 in the morning and said that the Front Desk needed proof again well I don't know why that broad didn't call me on the phone instead he had to keep on interrupting me. It was so uncomfortable. I couldn't feel like I could change and go take a shower because I was afraid this fool was gonna come in again and knock on the door so the third time I showed him my bank statement with the withdrawal from red roof in showing that I paid and they are finally satisfied with that. Well I wasn't satisfied it was the noisiest grossest room I've ever stayed in and they had no hot water. She also told me that if she had checked me in that night, she would've kicked me out because I use Priceline and they don't like Priceline because they have to wait a couple days to get paid. They only want to use their website and then I guess she doesn't understand how it works because then she told me to make sure I left a good review on yelp and Priceline well guess what Bindy here's my middle finger to you with your review.. make sure you remember when you're staying here and beautiful town of Lompoc California that is in the central it the armpit of California and this hotel red roof Inn on 246 leaves nothing else imagination the Customer Service and the bedbugs not to mention the clientele that come here if you can imagine it's walks of life i'm the only thing that was actually kind of told you about boxer if you happen to run into maybe you can score this or that or he can unplug your toilet. The room advertised on Hotels.com looked clean, modern, and well-maintained, but the reality was completely different. When we arrived, the hotel grounds looked nothing like the photos on the website. The property appeared rundown and poorly maintained, and the room itself was old, outdated, and did not resemble the listing at all. There were groups of people hanging around the parking lot engaging in what appeared to be shady transactions, and the strong smell of marijuana was present throughout the property. Most concerning was the fact that the door to our room did not have a working interior lock. We did not feel safe at all. Due to the unsafe environment and misleading advertising, we made the difficult decision to leave in the middle of the night and drive six hours back home. This was an extremely disappointing and stressful experience, and we regret booking this hotel. I would strongly advise others to avoid this property. read more

I went down stairs and asked to cancel reservation and because I was 4 minutes over they would not refund me, I was told to call Monday and ask for the manager Bina. On Monday when I called and explained the situation, Bina told me she had to speak with her staff before giving me any type of answer. Two days later still no call from Bina, so I called again and was told she was on vacation. Well finally got in contact with Bina and she said her staff told her the room was clean and the only thing missing was the towels and did not want to refund me. She offered a very tiny discount. Also as I was walking out of the room there was a man walking his German Sheppard dog letting his pet into peoples rooms, the dog couldn't enter mine because I was standing in front of the door with my suitcase. This is a value for your money and your room comes with free water, a mini fridge, a microwave, conditioning shampoo and body wash dispensers and a lot of channels and movies to watch! This was the only choice for a busy fathers day weekend. Not sure how they set up a room and don't put pillowcases on the pillows. It was gross seeing the actual pillows. We were very disappointed with our room. We booked this place because it was the only one that was pet friendly and we really wanted to take our dogs with us on vacation. That's the only benefit of staying here. The room was supposed to be a non smoking room but it smelled like smoke and the sheets had cigarette burns. We were missing pillows on one of the beds and there was no tv when we first checked in. The WiFi was very weak so we asked for a tv just to entertain ourselves before bed. When we took the dogs out at night for their walk we ran into the colorful collection of drug attics and homeless people that share rooms here. Luckily our dogs are big enough to keep them at a distance. The morning we were checking out as we got ready to leave we saw roaches in the room. Will definitely need to find another hotel next time we're in town. read more

This Red Roof Inn Hotel practices the Bate and Switch tactic to scam out-of-towners/travelers into paying for what they are told by Hotel Manager/staff is a safe; drug-free; prostitution-free; smoke-free; Hotel with clean-sanitary rooms. None of these exist here. Cigarette holes in the bedding, gray stains on the sheets, insects crawling in the room (roaches), and cigarette smoke orders are in the room! There are homeless and drug dealer/users living in this hotel, and you can hear them coming and going all night long... doors slamming, dogs barking in the room, the once paved parking lot is now a run-down, uneven, rocky pavement. Looks like a code enforcement violation to the public. I tried to leave soon after I got there out fear for my safety. The only way to cancel reservation, get you money back is to talk the manager "when she's available" in the morning. That could take 2 or more days. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Especially if you are a young woman and solo traveling, DO NOT STAY HERE, IT IS UNSAFE! I had never feared for my life the way I did here at Red Roof Inn. I was on a solo trip and was working my way down the coast of CA the weekend of 4th of July and booked Red Roof off of Hotwire--this was the biggest mistake I had ever made. I arrived around 8:40pm and as I drove into the parking lot there was ~6 men who appeared to be crackheads staring me down as I drove past. Even as I parked far away from them close to the lobby of this inn, I was still being watched by the men. I walked into the lobby where it smelled like cigarettes which is pretty ironic bcuz it's a "no smoking" hotel. As I was checking in, I noticed a giant TV screen behind counter which has cameras at every angle of the hotel. The only time you see screens with cameras at every angle is when you're in the ghetto. An area that isn't ghetto that has cameras will hide it from the customer's view. I asked the girls checking me in if it was safe because I had noticed the crackheads outside and was told that if they may try to approach me a couple times and to just ignore them. Anyways I go walk to my room, swipe my card and enter and close the door and I had never been so disturbed and scared. The TV was on as if someone was already living in there, the smoke detector was BARLEY hanging from the ceiling and you could see ALL the wires, and there was a giant hole in the wall behind the entrance of the door where it looked like someone purposely broke the wall using the door due to some anger issues. Additionally the door didn't exactly lock so honestly with all these factors I dipped. Only took me 5 min from checking in to check out and I was off back home to SD. After I got home I started reading reviews and ppl have found crack pipes and needles in their rooms. Uhmmmmm! The staff are fully aware of this activity and seem to be ok with it as they are their majority clientele. Room and property were horrible, neglected, and in a state of disrepair. Room smelled of smoke, cigarette burns on sheets, curtains, and chairs. Bedsheet had a yellow stain on it. I was only provided one pillow and front desk couldn't find anymore. No ice bucket or TV remote or tissue paper. Room not clean and certainly this property is not taking any Covid precautions except for keeping the lobby door closed at all times. I want to give less than 1 star. Reserved a room through Hotels.com for May 27th 2023 on May 21st at 3:55 p.m. Decided I wanted to go elsewhere less than an hour later I cancelled at 4:45. Got an email saying it was cancelled so no worries right? On May 29th my bank says it's processing a payment for this hotel. It is now June 7 2023. After getting the serious run around from both hotels.com and this hotel they were both saying you need to call the other it's their fault for almost 2 weeks. We have disputed with the bank. I honestly wish I would have read 1 Yelp review before booking. We were here during a trip to Solvang. This place says that they adhere to all SafeStay COVID sanitation policies which includes sheets/towels laundered at 140F, all surfaces wiped down and cleaned, etc. We found the opposite. The room was despicably filthy. Seriously, offensively dirty. Our sheets hadn't been laundered as there were long black hairs in them, the floor was filthy with the same hairs as well as the towels (folded nice with hairs attached). The bathroom was grimy...everything was awful. Even the amenities, no coffee maker, no iron, no ironing board, not even an extra TP roll. The guy behind the front desk was nice and apologetic when he delivered a new set of sheets. They did not have any fresh towels but he did give me brand new floor mat towels so I had to use those for my morning shower. I ended up changing my own sheets, and sanitizing every surface with hand sanitizer which I borrowed from the front desk. I felt unsafe and so gross staying here. Nobody should have to pay any amount of money to receive a disgusting accommodation. Red Roof, please audit your franchisees. This place is ruining your name! read more

Got a room with sisters and couldn't even take a shower because the water backed up into the tub and was totally gross. My sister-in-law deserves a refund and was promised one, but never received it. I'm driving to Big Sur and decided to spend the night at the red roof in at Lompoc when the lady sent me to my first room it was still dirty so she sent my family and I into another room. I had to stay here for a month while I was waiting on pay stubs to qualify for an apartment. They raise your rate every single week, so plan on the rate going up. This is extremely frustrating when you follow all the rules, and don't even have the maids clean your room. The hotel has a lot of residents who have their shady friends around all the time. The grounds constantly have trash thrown all over the place. The DirectTV in my room doesn't work, and neither does the microwave. At least the refrigerator works. I was bamboozled on the website. The pictures they showed were nice and decent but it was nothing compared to when I saw the actual hotel and my room. The only good thing was that I had roof over my head. The room was humid and had a weird smell even after spraying lysol everywhere and on everything. The shower was dirty, it had leftover hairs from the previous person. The bed sheets had cigarette holes in them. The chair in the room was covered in paint and old. The iron board was covered in food or scraps or vomit, I could not tell but it was unsanitary and disgusting. There was only one towel at the sink and it was dirty upon arrival. Not worth the $64 I spent on a night here. - The linoleum floors were visibly dirty when we arrived - The bed collapsed when I sat on it. Upon further inspection I found that it had been propped up on a brick - The room had no towels, soap, garbage can, floor mats, you name it. This was NOT a good hotel... yes the rate was low but that shouldn't mean a sub-par hotel... on the outside it in nice but once you walk in.... I don't even know where to start. The TV is from the late 90's and it didn't have a remote... they had to come bring one... the heater took an HOUR and a HALF to start blowing warm air and it was FREEZING last night. The beds only had 2 pillows and they weren't very nice either... the comforters had tears in them and the blanket had burn marks on them and the lamp shade was ripped. There was a FULL size refrigerator and a table but only one chair. I don't even want to talk about the bathroom... The linens and towels are stained and/or have holes and smell if must and mildew, holes in the walls, stains on the walls, chipping paint everywhere, TV remotes being held together with duct tape, they say they have free wifi but it doesn't work, broken desk chairs in all three rooms we saw, every rooms stinks of must, mildew, wet dog, cat urine or all of the above - the list is endless!! Definitely some shady "transactions" going on in some of the rooms, its a "non smoking" property but everything smells of cigarette smoke. I do not have confirmation of this, but locals in town told us that police officers in town will give homeless people money to go stay in this hotel to get them off the streets and after staying here and seeing the people I would believe it! Again, just word from the locals but it wouldn't surprise me. If this is your only hotel option in Lompoc due to availability or budget - then don't stay in Lompoc!!!!!!! What a dump. There were no towels in the room. The shower has one mode, blast your skin off, even though the head appears to be adjustable. The tub/shower faucet keeps running. The floors are dirty. With how crappy everything is, I would have thought the room should cost $10-$15 a night, tops. Not $50+. The remote doesn't turn the TV on. You have to turn it on from the unit. read more
