We stayed at this one star motel....Boy were we pleasantly surprised. So first of all....its a one star hotel. We were nervous because we read all the bad reviews. We booked here anyway last minute due to unavailability elsewhere. Our options were this motel, a campsite with no toilet or sleeping in the car. Regardless we booked on a Sat for $150 total. We arrived in late evening and were greeted by Jacob who was friendly, pleasant and welcoming. Check in was quick and seamless. We arrived to a first floor double room. Because of covid we wiped down all the surfaces and to my very pleasant surprise the wipes were just as white after. I was calmed. There a were couple of aesthethic things...but whatever its a 1 star hotel! The dryer was gone, there was one missing art frame (the had art frames!!!) and there were three wall repairs that were visible... but they were fixed and while the pain didnt quite match, it was clear an effort was made (and would you paint an entire room just for the pain to match or fix it until you're able to do it if you were running a business???!!....... Exactly!). The bed was comfortable although too soft and likely needs to be flipped or rotated. I'm used to my tempur pedic . There was a bit of a slight smell to the room, but it was more like ciagrette than anything...if was mild but noticeable... if it's something that would bother you bring febreeze or an air freshener. We noticed it and forgot about it even though we are sensitive to "scents." The room came with a 32inch (?) TV with dish cable and were able to watch some of our favorite shows including the Golden Girls! Lol...(yes even my millennial generation loves the golden girls!). We ended up booking a 2nd night for half the price for a single queen room. Which had a single queen, a nice small table with two nice faux leather chairs, and a TV that in addition to DISH cable came with Roku..but Internet was slower than I'm used to (I'm used to the fastest). We had difficulty with getting to regular TV because the previous patrons disconnected the cable HDMI. We couldn't figure it out so we called the front desk and Jacob was there within 2 minutes (yes!! 2 minutes, I don't even get this at a 5 start hotel!), he quickly set it all back up for us and even quickly showed us how to use both cable and Roku controllers. What exceptional service!!! This was room had no missing art frames had less patron damage than the first and had upgraded mini fridge. Both rooms came equipped with microwave, iron and ironing board, hangers in an open closet, a mini fridge, free wifi, free cable, and free Roku (access to Netflix, Hulu, Showtime in the 2nd room!) AND I especially loved the recycling containers!!! Both nights we woke up rested, checkout was the easiest! Leave the key and lock the door. For this 1 star hotel, just 17 miles from Solvang, with friendly and fast service it deserves more than a 5 star review. I'm glad now I know Lompoc for more than Mossimo being in its federal prison for the college scandal....lol. We'll be coming back! read more

On a 40 degree night, the heater did not work and there was no soap or shampoo provided. Since I checked in near midnight and had unpacked, I decided to bundle up and get some sleep. In the morning it was so cold in the room that I was forced to check out 3 hours early with no shower. The front desk associate was very apologetic and said she would let the manager know. She noted that several heaters had been repaired recently, including that one. When we spoke on the phone the next day, she confirmed it wasn't working and had spoken to housekeeping about the missing soap and shampoo. When I finally spoke to the manager (Jacob), he said he would have to test it and call me back, then said it was working just fine and he could give me a 20% discount on my next stay. Suzie the manager of the motel, is awesome. Lobby was small but functional, nice and clean. Greeted right away by Susie. She was very pleasant to talk to. She made us feel welcome. Our room was very very nice and attractively decorated. It looks like they've done a remodel recently because all the rooms and exterior didn't show. The rooms were nice size and Queen beds were the largest you can get here. The bathroom has a really huge shower. I'm six foot tall and I really appreciated the size of that shower. I recommend anybody that come stay here. Plus for breakfast they do a continental and it has waffles, cereal, toast, and muffins and stuff. All & all it is pretty good. I recommend staying here. It you have special needs, mention them when booking not after you arrive. There is a second floor and it might be difficult if handicapped. I was in Lompoc for a week-long training and stayed at the Lotus. I personally enjoyed my stay. The staff was helpful and the room was clean and orderly as advertised. There weren't any roaches, dirty towels or anything of that sort. Yes, it's located next to a Circle K and sometimes there are transients/addicts nearby. I was never bothered by any of them nor were any of the people in adjacent rooms (to my knowledge). I was gone during the day for work, so the room was really just a safe place to crash/shower/get ready. I had no problems whatsoever. I'll be booking there again in a few months and will give a 5th star if that visit matches the first. But all in all it was nice and served my needs. read more

2 1/2 stars is the perfect rating because it's an average between being OK and could be better. Pros - Was able to get a same-day reservation. Check in was very efficient and drama free. Kudos to the check-in clerk. He also proved competent in helping with other requests. Shower water was hot with good pressure, AC was powerful, bed feels clean and comfortable. Cons - Room didn't smell fresh (like maybe trying to get rid of cigarette smell, which wouldn't be the hotel's fault), no bottled water to make the coffee, TV wouldn't work, AC made a distracting sound, no blackout curtains, hot/cold sink handles were switched. read more

My stay at Lotus wasn't at all bad, in contrast to many other reviews. The woman who checked us in was very friendly, and the room was your basic, small motel room with a recent upgrade to flooring, tile, moldings etc. The bed was soft but comfortable, sheets were clean, towels were soft, bathroom clean, plenty of hot water in the morning... Negatives: The smoke detector was disconnected with a wire sticking out of the ceiling. No big deal. I pointed it out, and was told it was being worked on. The bathroom fan was hanging down a bit, a good inch from the ceiling. Just a cosmetic thing, but worth mentioning. The room smelled of industrial cleanser pretty heavily. We aired out the room, and it wasn't so bad. They might want to consider a cleaner without such a strong smell. Just a thought. Finally, the motel has no ice maker. There is a Circle K right next to it, so you can get your ice there, but it would be nice if they had a machine. Positives: A clean, decent room cheaper than others in the area, a five minute walk from Fiddlehead tasting room and the other "wine ghetto" places, close to the freeway, non-smoking rooms, a clean pool, free breakfast (weak coffee), and rooms come with microwaves and mini fridges. Clearly Lotus is still undergoing improvements, but isn't a bad place to stay. It reminded me of the Motel 6 places my family stayed in on cross country trips. Oh man, I wish I could give less than a star for this motel. I feel like it took 5 showers to wash this place off of me. We pulled up around 8 pm and the front office was already closed. Um ok? Already, I'm looking at my husband and wanting to beg him to just drive to Solvang which was our destination the next day but I knew he was already tired from driving all day and we had already paid for our stay at this establishment. Reluctantly, we went to the night window and a lady checked us in. She was pleasant enough but I thought it was odd that she was in her pajamas and some fuzzy slippers as she opened up the office for us. She gave us our room key and we hurriedly brought our stuff upstairs as the area was quite sketchy. There's a gas station right next to it and a bunch of drunks are in and out of there, I'm sure. We get into our room and initially it looks fine. But then, as we started to get settled in and wash up, we saw that the towels were threadbare and were very yellowed. I always bring my own toiletries because I'm very picky with what I use on my skin and hair. My husband, however, will sometimes use the toiletries at the places we stay at even though I always pack enough for both of us. He sure didn't here and dug into my bag to use what I packed. He said the soap was super thin and didn't bubble and that the shampoo seemed watered down. The bed was sunken in the middle and so we kept sliding towards each other throughout the night. We just laughed it off and made the best of it but it did make for a squished and slightly uncomfortable night. Breakfast time was a complete fiasco. It was very sparse and there was a guy in the breakfast room just talking to himself and acting very aggressive towards the staff. The attendant barely wanted to be in the dining room and she kept giving him looks and leaving the room. Finally, the lady who had checked us in the night before came in and asked him what room he was in and he yelled out some random number. Needless to say, we didn't stay to eat. My husband rushed me out of there and we went to check out. Again, the office was closed and when we rang the night window, we were instructed to shove the room key under the window. We couldn't get out of there faster. On our way out of the property, we passed another room where I'm pretty sure a drug deal was taking place. The parking lot was littered which we had not seen the night before. If we stopped to look around, I'm sure we would have found needles or something. It's that sketchy. DO NOT STAY HERE! This was our one sour stop on our trip down the coast and we hated every second we were there. read more

Doesn't even deserve 1 star. To start...shadyyyy location! A shame knowing there are such beautiful areas nearby. Room small, not like pictures. Bed size did not seem like a queen, more like a double. Boyfriend said the bed probably runs a close 2nd in comfort to a prison mattress. Could hear crunching of mattress topper or plastic covering. Weird. Afraid to look under bed to be honest. No doubt drug dealing was going on in adjacent room. Woman living in car in parking lot. Bathroom smelled like sewage/urine. Shower water went all over floor due to poor location/ construction of shower placement. Shower floor very unclean. Had to purchase flup flops to feel like we weren't going to catch anything. This is a roach infested motel. I stayed here for 1 night the week of June 6th, 2022. They gouged me and charged me over $200 because it was the last room available in Lompoc! This place is not even worth $50. It was so noisy, kids running around late at night, doors slamming at all hours, paper thin walls and doors. I found both dead and alive COCKROACHES in the bathroom! The beds are extremely uncomfortable and I did not get any sleep here. The neighborhood appears a bit sketchy as well, I would never stay here again and highly recommend you do not either. read more

This hotel was super sketchy and I wish I'd read the reviews. Mostly though the issue was is that's next to an air force base and there were very loud explosions that shoot the room. Unfortunately I have some PTSD so I had severe anxiety for hours. I called the front desk on the second one and they explained it. They can't control the explosions, but I had to completely change my plans for the following day because I couldn't sleep. Additionally, the heater had a bed within inches so I didn't run it because that's a fire hazard, so I was cold, and people were shouting in the parking lot and loitering till around 2am. My SIL booked this hotel for a sister getaway because their grandpa helped build the mission here in Lompoc. This hotel is scetchy and not maintained at all. It seems maybe people live here. Some guest had dogs roaming around using the parking lot as their toilet without picking it up. It looked like drug deals being made. The inside bathroom was nasty and the towels were stained! Don't say at the lotus of Lompac inn on 1415 Eocdan ave. The room had mold growing on the bathroom walls. The bathroom had exposed electrical from broken bathroom fan. We saw some drug activity and determined it was not safe for us there. We checked out and stayed somewhere else . We lost out on our money but can't put a price on safety. The pictures are very deceiving online of rooms . If only the pictures were scratch and sniff also . Not safe at all for any family. Unfortunately we booked through hotels.com. went back and looked at reviews more carefully to see how in the heck this place could have a 7 rating on Travel Advisor...yeah, they falsify reviews. "Joe" stays once week or so and gives blanket scores of 8. Same with "A Traveler." Seems like they book their own rooms through outside sites and then review them so they can be "verified". People were smoking in their rooms and the room we stayed in was dirty with stains on the mattress. The owner obviously lives in the back office which is a little odd but who am I to judge. The lady at the desk was highly annoyed that I booked through bookings.com, in fact she called me at work to tell me so. Then, when I TRIED to check out - at 8:07 a.m. On a Wednesday- the office was closed, nobody answered the "night window", forcing me to return to my room and dial "0" for the manager - she refused to allow me to check out! She acted like I woke her up! Claiming she already gave me a receipt. The cherry on top? She called leaked her bad attitude on me and HUNG UP on me. Anyone who stays at hotels knows the scam of charging up the guests credit card If they don't check out in person. My room was $90. for 1 night. There was a homeless person sleeping in the back of the building. :-( (sad for them) The room smelled of sewer gas or feces. The housekeepers did the best they could - I am sure. It was easy to tell that the bathroom had flooded a lot due to all the water marks and damage. It was gross enough that I did not shower there. In the morning there was a cockroach on top of the dresser. Lastly there was damage to walls, window screen, air conditioner. It is run down. At best it seemed like a $40 room. Yuck. read more

I was heading home from exploring the central coast and thought I could make it to Santa Barbara. Google Maps was showing $160+ for the 3 Motel 6's in SB on a Wednesday. Hell no, that ain't gonna happen. I pulled over in Lompoc and decided to call it a day even though it was only around 5pm. The front desk lady was nice and friendly. I asked for a single room and was informed there wasn't any available even though the parking lot was empty at the time. Being a military town I guess no one arrived yet. The place was old and you can tell upgrades have been attempted. Definitely not by real contractors but by handyman types. Room was clean and I felt comfortable. The shower was a bad design and leaked water out of the curtain that was too short. This caused water damage to the molding. Water pressure and hot water were plentiful though. Room came with a microwave and fridge and that was nice. Wifi was strong. A/C worked good. Bed was really soft and when I woke up I was in the same position as I fell asleep so I guess it was pretty damn comfortable. The continental breakfast was thin with choices but I left full. There was a group of 4 guys staying next door and early on they were "partying" with their door open. I thought this was going to be a problem but they were quiet before 8pm. This is definitely a discount motel. I believe what I was charged and what I got, I received a very fair value. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

Don't even think of booking this motel!!! This place is awful with drug deals happening right in front of us. We were traveling with another friend and both of our rooms smelled awful like smoke and drugs. The pictures on the website are deceiving. The rooms are small, dingy, smelly and the property doesn't feel safe with sketchy people walking around checking doors and sitting on the stairwell getting high. We got moved to different rooms but the way people (guests) were acting made us choose to leave. Description and ratings on Hotels.com rate it a 7.2 and it's more like a 2.7. They must be buying 5-star reviews on yelp and other sites. There is no way that this place lives up to the expectations of any safety conscious traveler. Front desk guy did his best to help us by moving our rooms, but the drug deal right next door to our first room assignments made it impossible for us to stay and feel safe. The establishment would not refund us for the booking and we had to contact Hotels.com customer care to get some resolution and help with the situation. Avoid this place and book your stay at Lompoc at one of the bigger chain lodging establishments like the Hilton Garden Inn. read more

Eeek! What a mistake this was. Upon arrival I was told my reservation for four days was cancelled as my credit card was declined. No one had called me. It is a chip card and my cc bank wanted the card to be present to be verified. Room smelled bad, bathroom sink very slow to drain,ironing board stained and dirty, no ice machine on the property and 'security' on the towels ( give one to get one). I called one morning (we were staying four days) and let the front desk know we would be out for a couple hours at 1:15 p.m. so housekeeping could plan to clean. Housekeeping came at 10:00 and said that did not work for them as they would be gone for the day by 1:15. We had to accommodate housekeeping or no service that day. The rooms are tiny and the paint is chipped etc...bad neighborhood as well. read more

Highly recommend you stay just a bit further down the street- either Red Roof Inn or the Best Western O'Cairns Inn and Suites- both hotels are much better than this dump. This used to be a lovely Travelodge hotel but the new owner of Lotus have not done a good job of maintaining the property upgrades that Travelodge had completed. The beds were worn out with hard edges and huge dips in the center- offering zero support. There was mold in the shower stalls, and smelly-will never stay there again. Avoid this hotel. read more

There was no hot water for a shower. Stayed there the night of Saturday October 26, 2019. Called the front desk and they said the boiler was broken and there was nothing they could do. And that I would still have to be out of my room by checkout at 11am. I went down to the front desk and they gave me a 10% discount so like $10 off my stay. But no hot water is completely unacceptable. I had to take a freezing cold shower. It was awful. Lady started cleaning the continental breakfast at 9:25am when it's supposed to go until 9:30, and she was rushing everyone out. It is "continental" so all you get is cereal, waffles, milk, juice, coffee. That's it, all high carb stuff but that's to be expected for the price. Also the washer on the sink in room 223 needs to be replaced because u turn the water on a little bit and it squirts everywhere all over the sink. They also don't have key cards, they give u an "actual" key to your room. Key was difficult to open the lock. I had to go back down to the front desk to let them know I had trouble opening the door to my room. And also the walls are paper thin, heard the neighbors in room 224 having sex all night. My husband and I decided to get out of town for our 39th wedding anniversary. We ended up in Lompoc. I called a couple hotels and told them what was going on. The staff at Lotus Inn said come on by. When we arrived they had decorated our room with chocolates, rose petals and a bottle of wine. Such an awesome act of kindness and truly unforgettable. We have stayed here 3-4 times over the past 10 years, while visiting my family here from back east. Our last visit was about 1.5 years ago. I would have given it two stars back then. However, about a year ago it came under a new owner, who has made substantial improvements: new paint, substantial bathroom renovations, mattresses (very comfortable), TV's... I would have given it a 3.5, but cannot. Their "continental breakfast" leaves much to be desired (but you have to factor in the less costly room charges into all of this). This a cute little place. The room we had was equipped with two double beds a mini fridge & coffee maker & direct T V. The room was clean and quaint. The hotel offers a pool & complimentary continental breakfast. There is a separate breakfast room to eat which offers fresh fruit, coffee, milk, cereals & a waffle maker. It's a 20 minute drive to Buellton, Anderson's Pea Soup is a must! And Solvang village is right up the road! Lotus of Lompoc is all around a great for a quick stop in between a drive! We had a horrible stay at Lotus of Lompoc. Do not stay here, no matter what. Hotels should not be rewarded for poor service and accommodations and this is the epitome of both of those. If possible, we would have requested a refund but I know they would not have obliged. We had to see three rooms before we were given one that was the bare minimum of a hotel room. Lotus of Lompoc motel is disgusting. We book a last minute. We arrive to check in the front office. When we saw our room we immediately did NOT stay. The room smells like urine. The bedsheets has like blood stains on them and was a bit torn. The walls was patch. I should have take pictures of this motel so other folks would know I'm not exaggerating. We give the keys back to the person in the office and ask if we can get our refund back or at least some of our refund back base on the price that they were charging including tax comes out to 146.00. The person told us the owner is out and won't be back until the next day. The person said that we can call and talk to the owner regarding our refund since we did not stay. An hour later I received a message saying the owner would not refund our money back. Of course like any person I was so angry. So if anyone is visiting Lompoc don't go to Lotus of Lompoc. I would give this place a zero. We end up staying at the Embassy Suite instead that day. read more

After we had a horrified experience at Red Roof Inn at Lompoc for one student group, we switched to this hotel. We found such a delightful surprise; the rooms are very clean, with small ridge, coffee maker, and reasonable bedding at its price level. I would highly recommend this hotel!! read more
