Just talking about the food. Sugar must be their favorite seasoning, used tons of it on everything. I haven't been here in a while, the quality was going down so we only come by if we happen to be right there. The food used to be great, then become just passable, now, must avoid. The pan fried noodle dish was completely inedible. The soup dumplings are worst then store bought frozen from american markets. None of the variety of dumplings and dimsum are anything close to freshly made. About $100 in food and drinks for 2, and everything was bad. It's a shame this review needed to be made. I have been to this restaurant twice. Both times the food has been great but the service has been a complete and utter dismal. I was there with 2 other people and I understand that the place is not that big but it was also not packed that they rush you to leave once you have finished eating. We were done with eating one of the server comes and clears the table, picks up the leftovers and bring them to the kitchen to pack them up. Keep in mind a lot of 2 seater tables were empty and a bench was also not occupied. We had the receipt for a while sitting at the table since we were talking, of course we were going to pay but he kept walking back and forth to check if we had placed our card or method of payment down (which we had not). After some time, he comes back and asks if we want to split the bill (passive aggressive, much). We all have our cards for the split and as he walks back to the female server she laughs out loud (more like a cackle). I am not sure what words were exchanged but it did not feel comfortable when she laughed like it was something so hilarious as he is bringing our table's check to her. It felt as though they were making fun of us. When the man brought over receipts and our cards, he told us to take our time. Again, the place is practically empty and not many people were coming in to sit down. After we paid we still sat there and a while later, the same man comes and says, they are expecting a big party shortly so they need the bench. There is still an empty bench behind us. We leave and were outside for 30 mins and no big party ever arrived. Everything besides the food is terrible at this place. For being in the service industry they do not know how to serve in the right manner. I am giving 1 star solely based on how much their attitude and behavior turned me off. Wish I could give 0 stars. I just drove 2 and a half hours from Ct to visit fire island. I drove out of my way to come here cause they had ok reviews and it seemed like the place to get some soup dumplings, mine and my daughters favorite. It says they open at 12:00. That is not true. We showed up at 12:10 and the owner literally closed the door in my face and said they open at 12:30. Whatever I went to Taos dim sum literally a 3 min walk away. Food there was amazing. This place has amazing handmade dim sum. The dumplings are out of this world. Prior to Covid my husband and I would eat here on a weekly basis. Our favorites are the chicken curry dumplings, all of their soup dumplings and the sunflower pork dumplings. The sweet dim sum is also to die for. I personally love their green tea sweet potato cakes, a nice sweet treat to end your meal. The five of us walk in on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is small and the bathroom is real close to the dining room. The decor looks off, I'm already on alert. I ordered a large amount of dumplings for the table as well as twice cooked pork. My sons also order a chicken dish. All the food starts to come out. The soup dumplings come out in a bamboo steamer. Everyone starts digging in and then the waiter starts bring out the food? It all felt rushed. My twice cooked pork was all fatty and stringy. I want something to drink but the waiter is no where to be found. So not happy with the meal here. On the way out, I ordered a small bubble tea. OMG yum! I have past this place for years and finally got to try it! We really were craving some soup dumplings and buns so we decided to go dine in. We tried the pork soup dumplings , crystal shrimp dumplings , spring rolls , pork buns and flat noodles with vegetables. All so so good. They served it with a sauce and duck sauce which was a plus. Served very hot and everything had so much flavor. We didn't try the boba milk tea but they had a bunch on the menu. Inside does have sit down service and some outdoor seats. We went on a weekday for a late dinner and were seated right away. The seats are very limited and the pick up/cash register is close by just as an FYI. After some research, Red Tiger Dumpling House seemed like nice authentic Chinese restaurant located far away from Queens. This judgment was based on all the pictures I saw on Yelp. The reason I had to stop by here was the allure of genuine soup dumplings far away from the city. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and noticed that about four of the tables were filled. There was still some room for our party of 3 so we didn't have to wait. We immediately noticed that there is a small placard on the table that had a list of items that are about a dollar off from menu prices if we paid in cash. We took advantage and ordered two items, the pork soup dumplings and chopped pork and eggplant pancakes. We also ordered a shrimp fried rice and a spicy fish filet dish. Although there were many different types of dumplings on the menu, we ordered the soup dumplings to gauge overall quality. The pork soup dumplings were slightly not uniform as parts of the skin was a little thick. However, after biting into one and trying the soup and pork, I felt that the overall quality was excellent. They were definitely made to order based on how the skins tasted and how long it took to get to the table. Over many years of dumpling eating, these dumplings are firmly on the side of handmade. As for the fried rice, there wasn't much that was special about it. It was ordinary in the type of rice used and flavoring. The chopped pork and eggplant pancakes resembled an empanada. The filling inside was sweet, saucy pork, however I didn't really taste any eggplant. They were served with a side of hoisin sauce, a bit redundant in my opinion. The taste was fine, but I was left wondering if this was a Chinese-American dish. Finally the fish filet dishe with spicy sauce was above average. The spiciness, amount of fish and veggies and flavor was excellent and it was very good with a bowl of rice. Service here was efficient. The only issue was that the dumplings took about 15 to 20 minutes to get to our table, but we realized that this was due to the fact that they're handmade. Overall, the pricing of the dumplings are cheaper than Queens, especially the cash price. All the other menu prices are on par with what you would find in Queens. I can definitely recommend Red Tiger if you are from the area and need an authentic Chinese food fix. read more
