I never leave negative reviews, but people deserve to know about this. I found a full cockroach in my food while eating here. Not a small speck or something questionable -- an actual cockroach. I'm extremely disappointed to even have to write this because this restaurant was one of our favorites for a while. There is absolutely no excuse for this in a restaurant kitchen. Seeing a roach in a prepared meal makes me seriously question the cleanliness of the entire establishment and what conditions food is being stored and prepared in behind the scenes. This wasn't just unpleasant -- it's a serious health hazard and completely unacceptable. I was disgusted and honestly shocked that a restaurant operating like this is serving customers. I will never return, and I strongly encourage the restaurant to address its sanitation issues immediately before someone gets sick.

Delicious food at a great price, perfect for family style and big groups! Service is very slow but extremely nice, we didn't mind too much. Cute place and great food, definitely a spot to visit!

A small take out or eat in place. I love the regular dumplings and dim sum but the soup dumplings are my favorite.

Absolutely stunning food! Delicious, fresh and served quickly. Tons of amazing vegan options too. It's one of our favorite places when we're in Stony Brook.

Easy order via website or over the phone! Food was packaged nicely for takeout as well. It was delicious Chinese food especially with such limited options in the neighborhood. Lots of options on the menu that can accommodate all taste buds. Would definitely order again to try the rest of the menu out! Also, you get free soup dumplings with a $50 purchase! A new surprise!

Food (4/5): Overall delicious and solid food however there were some issues. To start off the soup dumplings and scallion pancakes were quite solid. The shumai however not only took a long time to come out but the meat came out raw. Fortunately one of our friends caught it and they recooked it but could've been a health hazard. Service (2/5): The first few dishes of the crab soup dumplings, buns, two servings of scallion pancakes came fast and we're good. However, after that they seemed to have forgotten our other orders and brought out the check. We reminded them that we still didn't get the 2 pork soup dumplings and shumai. It took a while for the pork shumai to come out (15+ min after we told them) and it came out raw. They fortunately took it back and remade it but oddly didn't seem apologetic about serving us raw, hazardous meat. The pork soup dumplings they forgot also took a while. Ambiance (3/5): OK ambiance with a reasonable amount of seating. You're able to see into the kitchen area as you're eating.

I have easily finished two trays myself in one sitting. The fried rice dishes are a nice surprise too. They are not greasy and not overly salty, which I really appreciate. The hot and sour soup is on point and rounds out the meal perfectly. Service is quick, with most dishes coming out within 5 to 10 minutes, making it a great spot when you want something fast and satisfying. Just be warned, it is very easy to overdo it here.

I went on the weekend with my family, and we must have come at the perfect time because while they…read morewere busy we were able to get a table pretty quickly like less than 10 mins. Table was cleaned and we were set up very quickly, the server came to us immediately and took our drink order pretty quickly. We started off with the scallion pancakes which were great! I realized we got a lot of food so I made a list of what we got and how good it was. Herbal chicken soup - fantastic (10 stars as a soup lover it was delicious and hearty) General Tso's - more on the sweet than spicy side which is my preference but may not be everyone's (very crispy and good in my opinion if you value texture over spice it was great -4/5 stars) Beef with scallion - my fam loves scallions so it was absolutely delish, and I tried some and thought so too! (5/5 stars) Eggplant in garlic sauce - delicious, was cooked very well, a perfect balance of spices and texture. (6/5 stars ** it was very very good ) Roast pork fried rice - SO SO good as is a staple of most Chinese places I think. (4.5/5) Shrimp pan fried noodles - I'm allergic to seafood so I didn't have it but it was good (4/5) OF COURSE THE SOUP DUMPLINGS: I'll give the soup dumplings a 4/5 they were good, I haven't had any in Jersey I usually go to NY for soup dumplings so I think it's pretty good for here. I think the service was very good, they were very kind, very attentive, now that could be because we ordered half the menu idk - but *I*** think it's SUCH a great place where you really get a bang for your buck. I also want to say the portion sizes are LARGE we definitely ended up taking things to go just because we didn't expect to order so much and for the portions to be so large. I think I may have forgotten another dish or two but overall the food is really really good. Only qualm really was just the size of the restaurant (which they can't really help) wasn't too big. The ambiance was very nice - though I think my party was unfortunately a bit more boisterous than the rest of the people around, it's family friendly so any one of all ages can come and enjoy something. Saw plenty of parents with strollers, elderly people, and everyone in between like my group. It's pretty good vibes. Big portions, great food, good people, good vibes! I have to come back here sometime! I usually go to Fort Lee for Korean food but I think I've found a new place to hit up when I'm in town. Lovely lovely place!

The wonton soup was decent......wontons were very good but the broth however was a bit bland. Roast pork fried rice was pretty good.....a little dry and skimpy on the pork but the flavor was more than adequate. Hot and sour soup was really tasty with a good bit of spice. Scallion bubble pancake was very light and tasty. The Emperor cabbage appetizer was probably my favorite meal item.....crispy cabbage tossed in a peanuty garlic sauce with honey. It was served cold (which usually I'm not a big fan of, but this was an exception) and had a great flavor. Pork belly appetizer tasted very good but it wasn't crispy (which would have made it so much better) and the buns they were served with didn't taste completely fresh. Dan Dan noodles with ground beef was excellent.... they're served spicy and you can simply request the level of heat you prefer to fit your taste buds. Soup dumplings were of decent size and quite juicy...... unfortunately they lacked some flavor. Mongolian beef dish was excellent as was the kung pao chicken. Overall it was a pretty good meal but there was some room for improvement. The staff was very nice and it did have quite a cool "old school American Chinese restaurant" vibe from yesteryear.

Although the decor is simple, the bold use of red and gold makes it highly memorable--and the space is very clean. Even though the bowls and chopsticks are disposable, there's clear attention to detail. The chopsticks feel great to use, and they are even engraved with "上海小笼," which is a thoughtful touch. The bowls are made of thick, sturdy paper, with a beautiful red base and gold rim--both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. Ordering is done through a self-service kiosk, but there are still staff members nearby. When it's not busy, they are friendly and happy to assist with any questions. The Noodle in Scallion Sauce (上海葱油拌麵) has a rich scallion oil flavor with perfectly chewy noodles, while the Cold Noodle w. Peanut Butter Sauce (麻將涼拌麵) is packed with a strong peanut flavor and equally chewy texture. Both dishes are delicious and taste very similar to Taiwanese sesame noodles. Every dish is served fresh and hot, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Whenever I'm in Edison, I can't help but come back to try more items on the menu.
