Yes I've had it screwed up and yes I've had my fair share of gross but this was good from here. Definitely would get it again. - Spring Rolls: Can I be honest? Wait I'm always honest in my reviews. I wanted to update my review since the last time we came was during COVID season and we sat outside. We are so happy that we decided to come back. The food was absolutely delicious and all of the options were great! The service was perfect. They were extremely kind and helpful. The ambience is the only thing that loses one star. It's a very tiny place and not the most attractive. I believe it makes it more of a "to go" like place. However, we will be coming back often. read more

After some research, Red Tiger Dumpling House seemed like nice authentic Chinese restaurant located far away from Queens. This judgment was based on all the pictures I saw on Yelp. The reason I had to stop by here was the allure of genuine soup dumplings far away from the city. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and noticed that about four of the tables were filled. There was still some room for our party of 3 so we didn't have to wait. We immediately noticed that there is a small placard on the table that had a list of items that are about a dollar off from menu prices if we paid in cash. We took advantage and ordered two items, the pork soup dumplings and chopped pork and eggplant pancakes. We also ordered a shrimp fried rice and a spicy fish filet dish. Although there were many different types of dumplings on the menu, we ordered the soup dumplings to gauge overall quality. The pork soup dumplings were slightly not uniform as parts of the skin was a little thick. However, after biting into one and trying the soup and pork, I felt that the overall quality was excellent. They were definitely made to order based on how the skins tasted and how long it took to get to the table. Over many years of dumpling eating, these dumplings are firmly on the side of handmade. As for the fried rice, there wasn't much that was special about it. It was ordinary in the type of rice used and flavoring. The chopped pork and eggplant pancakes resembled an empanada. The filling inside was sweet, saucy pork, however I didn't really taste any eggplant. They were served with a side of hoisin sauce, a bit redundant in my opinion. The taste was fine, but I was left wondering if this was a Chinese-American dish. Finally the fish filet dishe with spicy sauce was above average. The spiciness, amount of fish and veggies and flavor was excellent and it was very good with a bowl of rice. Service here was efficient. The only issue was that the dumplings took about 15 to 20 minutes to get to our table, but we realized that this was due to the fact that they're handmade. Overall, the pricing of the dumplings are cheaper than Queens, especially the cash price. All the other menu prices are on par with what you would find in Queens. I can definitely recommend Red Tiger if you are from the area and need an authentic Chinese food fix. read more

This place first piqued my interest when hubbs and I drove my son to campus last year. One evening while picking him up for a school break, we ate at a nearby Asian restaurant and I mistakingly post the review for that spot (China Station) under Red Tiger's business listing and I didn't realize until today, after we dropped off my son again and were looking for a good spot to grab some grub. Both place are very good but are very different as well. Red Tiger is a little nicer on the eyes. The decor is newer but they don't have much seating available. The food comes to the table fairly quickly so there must be a quick turnaround. They also have a really big dumpling selection. I was eager to try many because I am who I am. They offer Bubble and Boba Teas but they don't make them in house so, order at your discretion; very sweet. Had we known this, we likely would not have ordered any beverages. Aside from the drinks we shared am order of Chicken and Broccoli. It's a large serving, enough for two, especially if you're ordered some of the smaller plates to share as well. The Dumplings: Pork & Vegetable - hubb's choice; he liked it a lot. Crystal Shrimp - typical dim sum fare, basic shrimp shumai but the flavour was lacking for me. Duck Buns - two to a serving, tasty but in need of more filling. Lamb Dumplings - OK but lacking the lamb flavour. Dragon & Phoenix - chicken w/shrimp and ginger dumplings that probably tasted the best but we're delivered after we had our fill so I was only able to fit one of these in my gullet. The service was very good. They were extremely accommodating. We've never been here before and are not from the area so we didn't know until walking in that they are cash only (well, more like "cash preferred"). Red Tiger has been the absolute favorite, go to place for my husband and I for several years now. Every time we have the opportunity to have a night out, we always choose Red Tiger, and we always get the spicy pork scallion pancakes and the pork soup dumplings. Sadly, we've seen the prices at Red Tiger creeping up, and the quality and portions creeping down. We didn't want to give up on them, though.... after all, they've been our favorite for so long. Sadly, after our experience last night, we likely won't be returning, which just makes us so sad. Our decision to not return is based on MANY visits, so it's not a "they just had a bad day" situation. The reasons for our decision are: - steady decline in quality/freshness/flavor of food (for example, our spicy pork scallion pancakes were not even hot or crispy last night... clearly not made fresh like they used to) - steady, seemingly disproportionate incline in pricing (for example, spicy beef and peppers dish climbing from $11.95 to $17.95 in 4 years, while yielding a smaller portion) - steady decline in portions (for example, spicy pork scallion pancakes used to be made with a large, thin pancake, chock full of pork and peppers [as seen in my first review]; now it's a small, thick pancake with just a few scallions, and hardly any pork or peppers [see any recent photo in Yelp]) - introduction of credit card payment penalization (3% fee PLUS dumplings cost $1 more per order) Despite our progressing unhappiness with Red Tiger, we were so excited to visit last night for our favorites. In fact, that's all we ordered! After the half hour drive, we pulled up to a packed house around 645p. We were seated right away, and surprised to see they had new menus (again), with new prices (again). We ordered two orders of the spicy pork scallion pancakes - extra spicy, and an order of pork soup dumplings. We were shocked when the pancakes were brought to the table.... They were even smaller than last time. They were not hot (pancake or filling). They were not crispy, and they were barely filled. After the first bite, we were disappointed to find that the flavor and heat were also missing.... and for $8 a piece. The soup dumplings were brought out next, and they were hot and fresh. They've gotten smaller over time, but not drastically enough to complain about. However, the flavor profile had dipped. When it came time to pay, I noticed a sign at the register advising that all credit card transactions will now be charged a 3% fee. When I asked about it, I also learned that dumplings are $1 more per order when paid for with a credit card. I was able to scrape together enough cash to pay the bill, but these additional fees on top of their hefty price increases, and noticeable dip in quality and quantity, sealed the deal for us. To the owners of Red Tiger, I cannot express how sad we are to not be able to get the high quality, delicious, authentic, fresh food that you used to make. We've sent all of our friends and family to your restaurant and have been loyal customers for so long, and we've continued to return even after several not so great visits. No, you won't find anything close to Chinatown food out here, but this such a close second that it is well worth the 40 min drive it takes us to come out here. We always get the soup dumplings, steamed buns, scallion pancake with beef and another rice or noodle dish. One of the great things about this place is you can order a whole meal worth of appetizers and get a taste of everything. The entree dishes are a little on the smaller side. We're big eaters so we usually need either 2 entrees or 2 or 3 more appetizers. So far we've had a fried rice, cashew chicken, mei fun and a flat noodle dish and all were great. I'm a little surprised some of the more recent reviews are so terrible, but maybe it's better off, more room for me when I come! Somewhat regular in this place for their fish in Szechuan sauce. Just can't get over this item and whenever I want something warp and soup-like, this is the comfort food I resort to. The fried rice is a bit sticky so not a personal favorite. Ordered their diced chicken in chilli, it was spicy but a tad bit extra salty and over fried. The fish tasted good as always but something seemed a bit off in terms of texture today. This is a nice cute dumpling house based in Suffolk Long Island. I started coming here when it opened as I love Xiao Long Baos (Juicy buns). The food here is ok but I mainly come for the Buns. It is really nice to have an authentic chinese restaurant near me. The service seems to be lacking as there are only so much staff for the high volume of customers that come in. The Bubble tea is ok but I do not recommend getting it here. It is located in a shopping center and shares a parking lot with Duane reade. The seating in the restaurant is limited and is better suited for take out. Wait time varies between immediate seating to 20 minutes. My issues were 1/ the scallion pancake was very stale and hard it was a little odd. 2/ the fried buns with condensed milk felt very dry also. the container for the milk was broken and so we didn't get any of those. 3/ my egg fried rice needed more seasoning. This place might be a little pricey, but if you are willing to try out their authentic Chinese dishes, you won't be disappointed. Food: For two people, we ordered vegetable thin rice noodles. They don't give rice with their dishes, so for carbs we split the noodles. The noodles were great, slightly oily, but flavorful. For proteins, we got mapo tofu and fish fillet. Their mapo tofu is definitely different from other restaurant's. It is a little spicier and with more sauce. The overall flavor is good. The fish fillet is fried and you choose one of three condiments to cloth it with. IMO it's not worth it to get this dish. Experience: Overall experience was not good. The place is tight and over decorated with chinese statues and figures. The restaurant is small, so when their chef decides to light a bud outside, the strong cigarette smell would sneak back into the restaurant. Friday night date night... Some very very dear friends told us about " Red Tiger Dumpling House", so I just had to try it. Now I'm not a Dumpling specialist, not by the furthest stretch of the imagination, so we had to work our way through with some help from a waiter. They serve other foods, oriental type food, but we decided to try an array of Dumplings. Oh the most important part, they have "Bubble Tea". Once I saw the sign they had me. Ok so we had the Steamed Soup Dumpling, which everyone seems to rave about. Next we had Pork & Seafood Dumplings, then Pork Potstickers, and finally scallion pancakes. A virtual smorgasbord of Dumplings, but to be sure there are many many more to try. So this was our first time with Dumplings and overall I enjoyed them. Definitely will go back. Hey did I mention that they have Bubble Tea? Now here's the real bonus. One of the aforementioned dear friends gave us a gift certificate so it ended up costing us $0. Can't beat that. I want to like this place. I would want nothing more than a nearby restaurant serving juicy soup dumplings! This is a perfect location and I would be their fanboy in a heartbeat. But sadly they just don't meet the standards. I know... I grew up on Chinese food. I am spoiled and it sucks. Now my rating should reflect the local selection, but I can't rank their food higher than some of the other Chinese restaurants such as 1089 noodle house and Yaos diner. They offer dishes that are truly unique to this area. Their soup dumplings are adequate but underwhelming. The steamed vegetable dumplings are not very good. I hold this dish to the highest standard bc it is very challenging to make and I fail each time. Together we fail together. The scallion pancakes are below average. The one great plus was the garlic stir fried shanghai veggies. Yum!! Crisp and tasty. Sadly they didn't have Chinese broccoli nor baby bean sprouts. I would come back. I would revise my rating too. I've been told their lion head meatball is very good. I should also try their beef noodle soup, the champion of all Chinese cuisine. I went there today. I love their crab & pork soup dumplings, I had several times. BUT, today I had them & 45 minutes later. I was sick throwing up,etc. I called to tell them & I was told that It wasn't there dumplings. I explained didn't eat any thing else! BUT, there Dumpling for lunch. I can't believe there response. Bon G. and I were visiting a Dr. nearby and decided to try RTDH for a quick lunch..When we walked in we were taken by how small it was and were annoyed by the banter of 3 workers standing by the counter and having an animated loud discussion in their language...We sat at one of the maybe 8 tables in the room and were greeted by a friendly girl that spoke perfect English. We wanted to try the Soup Dumplings first and also got Shu Mai as 2nd appy. Well...the Soup Dumplings and Shu Mai came stacked in bamboo steamers and placed on the table. The Soup Dumplings were 5 small, thick skinned dumplings which appeared to not have seen steam in quite awhile..they were not moist or even hot on the outside. The inside had very little liquid and the meat was negligible...Not good Soup Dumplings...the Shu Mai was better and we will let it go at that. Bon got Shrimp in Lobster Sauce...a joke! came in a soup bowl with rice and was thin and watery with no lobster sauce consistency or taste...Meh! The mains on the menu are very expensive for a place like this...averaging $15...my Cumin Lamb was $17.95 and rice was an extra!...way too much for this calibre of venue. So I was driving by and I saw that this place was pretty crowded, so naturally I was intrigued. We decided to order bubble tea and bubba tea. We then proceeded to order our meals. We ordered the vegan general tso chicken and the non vegan one. So Basically you're paying about $15+ for each dish, which doesn't even include rice. So I decided to order a small order of vegetable fried rice, which the server proceeded to tell me that the small size is o my available during their lunch hour aka 3pm, I looked at my phone and it was literally like 3:02. I was like seriously??? A large order of rice is huge..... we decided to order it anyway and just split it. So the food was pretty good, I mean for me it's a plus because they actually have vegan options, but for the regular food? It's basic Chinese food that you can get anywhere else for about half the price. This is the main reason why I'm only giving 3 stars. Too pricey and you can't even order certain things based on the time. I guess check it out and judge for yourself.
