Love this place! My family and I have made this our usual dining spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I typically order the Eggs Benedict combo and what a delight for a late breakfast/brunch! The service is always spot on and everyone is very nice and friendly. The owner literally stops at every table to meet, greet and thank you for your patronage. Ambience at the Red Truck is always cool. Especially if you enjoy old and new truck themes, pics and paintings. My favorite is when they honor veterans and all American armed services. Decided to check this place out as it's right by our house and I'm glad I did. You can get your breakfast, lunch, and dinner fixes satisfied all in one place. The services was great and the food was better. They serve their full menu all day with specials during the week. When you walk in it's a lot brighter than you would imagine given it's location and you can tell they care about cleanliness. Our server promptly seated us and ask for our drink orders. She talked with us a bit about the place and what some of their best dishes were. Anyone that knows me know I love burgers so I got their burger while my partner got the smothered biscuits. The burger was cooked perfectly to medium and while they up charge for cheese they give you a decent amount. I added bacon as well and it came with a side of fries. Definitely on the heavy end so be hungry when ordering. My partner said that the smothered biscuits were really good with your choice of eggs on top and would order them again. Overall I highly recommend checking this place out. Went for late breakfast and decided to get lunch. You know Tiki Hubby had to try the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, corn and jalapeños cornbread. Of course he shared as too much food for one person it was delicious! Crispy coating cooked perfectly with tender steak cream gravy was some of the best I have tried. We have been coming here for years. James, Phillip and the entire staff always treat my family like we are family. In a place like Plano, Tx that is becoming more and more rare. Today, I had the occasion to host a larger than normal group of people to have breakfast with my 94 yr old father. As always they took care of us and helped get a table together so that all 10 +a high chair had a big enough table. The service is always great here and all of our orders came out accurately, and quickly and hot, which is not always the case when we go out to other places around the area for our monthly family breakfast with dad. Although I've been coming here for years today is the first time I noticed the gingerbread pancakes. I highly recommend them!!! There are so many places around but this gem of home style cooking restaurant is still a family fave and everything is always delicious and fairly priced. Wow! What a quaint restaurant with cute decor. This so reminds of my manager days at Black-Eyed Pea. There are specials every day, along with a soup of the day and also a cobbler of day. We were a party of 3 and my two friends each had the CFS which was deliciousness, & the cream gravy was a Yum. I had breakfast for lunch which was the Eggs Benedict Trio which was Mmmmm! We had breakfast at Red Truck this past Saturday and were so glad we gave this place a shot. Our eggs were perfectly prepared. Daughter loved her candy sprinkled pancakes. Hubby devoured his Red Truck FM skillet. It's rare to see him wolf down his food like that. My son had the chicken fried steak and it was quite tasty. My huevos rancheros did not come with salsa like the menu described. It was also a little bland, but nothing a little salt couldn't fix. I also thought the pancakes weren't as moist as I'm used to. However, that didn't stop anyone from almost finishing them up or me from snacking on them. All in all, a definitely must try and repeat experience. Food here was great. I had the Red Truck FM skillet and my friend order the chocolate pie. My skillet came with 3 eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, biscuits and gravy on the side. It was so much food, I was in a carb coma afterwards. My friend devoured her pie slice. Service here was friendly and fast. Our server did a great job keeping my coffee cup filled. I'm rating this place 2 stars. The place is clean and the staff are very friendly, however the food that we ordered was terrible. We went on a Wednesday and ordered the special turkey and dressing. When the food came out it was lukewarm and the dressing had a real strong sage taste (very overpowering). I will say that the jalapeño cornbread was excellent. Because I just recovered from Covid and am still not ready to get back out, I ordered liver and onions from Red Truck Cafe, through Grubhub. The liver was way overcooked. It was nothing more than liver jerky, so tough I was only able to get a few bites and had to throw out more than 90% of the piece of leather like meat on my place. I paid around $25, with delivery fee, for small servings of mashed potatoes, black-eyed peas and a cornbread that was barely as big around as a quarter. After writing my review, I read some of the others and wish I had read them before I ordered. The most appalling thing; There was a response from the restaurant on some of the post. Not one time did he offer to make it right but had the gall to ask them to come back and try again for a better meal. read more

This place has changed names/owners over the past 10 years but it still delivers a pretty solid experience. Border Crossing which is Huevos Rancheros with refried beans, hash browns. I selected chorizo for my meat which was a bit over cooked but still good. The size of the meals are huge so you won't go home wanting more. The staff was great and attentive. read more

Food was really good, typical "breakfast" steak cooked to my liking. Legit hash browns. Good coffee. Great service. Decent prices. Felt like a small town diner. Place was super clean. Owner present and working the room. It was so good I returned next day and had the exact same thing. Consistency is a challenge for many places but not here. Day two was just as good as day one. I asked my buddy, The Fred, out for lunch on his birthday. I told him, pick the place, wherever you'd like to go. Without hesitation he said Red Truck Cafe in Plano. I believe I'd been there years ago - it was called Chubbies then, if memory serves me. It was so long ago I have no comment on how it was then. Red Truck is a good old fashioned American Cafe. Even in the CoVid atmosphere it was a welcoming experience. We were pleasantly greeted and told we could sit wherever we liked. I scanned the menu to see what they offered. The Fred already knew he wanted the daily special, Chicken and Dumplings. I think he knows every daily special by heart. I was undecided until I saw they offered Liver and Onions. I know, some of you reading this are going yuck. I admit, if not prepared correctly it can be a disappointment. I decided to give the Red Trucks version a try. There are not that many restaurants that offer this tasty dish. Needless to say, The Fred scarfed the C & D right up. He was pleased, I didn't need to ask him how he liked it. I also enjoyed my liver and onions. The meat was sliced thin and there were two slices. The gravy was tasty. I really couldn't tell if it was a packaged gravy or not. You get three sides and all were cafe good. I saw no downside to report. The Red Truck Cafe is American cafes at their finest. Tasty, reasonably priced, with great service. Very shocked to try and dine in today (5:00 ish), only to be told to pick my own seat and then be ignored.
