Red window is one of my favorite spots on the East side of SF! They not only have the cutest interior, but lots of outdoor seating as well & there is constantly live music. Our table was by the window near the band & the music was great while also not being too loud to hear eachother and the servers. We tried a variety of cocktails ( Baycation, Copa De Vermouth, I Dropped the Coconut, Trinidad Sour, Espresso Martini, & Cool as a Cucumber). Everything tasted great & also had really nice presentation. For food we tried the Patatas Bravas, Flatbread with Prosciutto, Lamb Pasta, and Churros. While everything tasted really good my favorite was the pasta. Overall we had a phenomenal time - everything tasted great & the servers were so nice & quick. It's Fleet Week in the city so it is especially crowded on Saturday night. We had reservations although they couldn't seem to find them but we got seated anyway, outdoors. I like that we can order small dishes to share and mix some entrees. We had the Caesar salad with anchovies (not too salty), crispy paella balls, lamb pasta and beef short ribs. This was enough for the 3 of us as we don't have big appetites. The lamb pasta was very good. One thing about this restaurant is they have very loud live music, so it is very hard to hear each other talk. We were with someone who had hearing aids so they had to take them off because the music was too loud. If you're sensitive of hearing, you probably don't want to dine here. We walked by at 2PM on a Saturday during a long walk around the city, and we must have hit the end of brunch party time! There was a huge party outside on the patio with grad gear on, maybe Berkeley Law? Anyways we sat inside and got to sit at the perfect corner booth, sunny and bright and great people watching! Well the brunch menu goes till 330, so that's what we did. We had a couple of spritzes, very nice and light for brunch, and Instagram worthy. My partner had the smoked salmon on croissant. I was disappointed by the tagliatelle ($24) which was overcooked, and the sauce was pretty bland. On the other hand the churros were undercooked and fell apart when we picked them up. Other drinks in the group were weird too. My best advice to the bartenders-learn your classics. Customers beware: even if you have written confirmation of your reservation, don't expect them to honor it and don't expect them to try to correct the issue or make up for it in a meaningful way. I had written confirmation of a table for 4 At 19:30 - INDOORS. We chose indoor seating because it was a cold and breezy night. When we arrived, we were seated on the "heated" outdoor patio with doors to keep out the draft. I told them we had an indoor reservation. I was told "Oh. We have two reservation systems. The indoor seating filled up on the other system we have so we can only seat you outside". Again, they did not apologize and they made no effort whatsoever to correct the issue or recover. We were seated outside. It was uncomfortably cold. The heaters were not on. They did not keep the patio doors closed. The constant wind and breeze from passing cars was frigid. The sound of the street traffic and sidewalk traffic was deafening. I had family visiting from out of state. I could have taken them anywhere. I brought them here for its ambiance. The food was delicious but it could not have been a less enjoyable experience in every other way. And I realize this could've happened anywhere but it was unfortunate timing: a 12-top was seated next to us mid-meal. They were drunk upon arrival and were yelling so loudly we couldn't hear one another at our own table. I asked to speak to the manager about the reservation issue. I was offered a whopping 5% discount on our meal and told "there is nothing else I (FOH manager) can do." Anyone who has ever worked in service knows this is nonsense. I will NEVER come back to this restaurant. They did not deliver what was promised to us in writing, and failed at every opportunity to make it right. I'm so disappointed. read more

We asked if we could sit at the bar and then she disappeared. We noticed that most of the staff during the 6 o'clock rush were on their personal cell phones and not paying attention to what was going on. No management in sight, the only person that noticed us was the young hostesses dressed in a lingerie top. After 10 minutes of sitting at the bar and being ignored by literally everyone we just casually walked out and nobody even noticed.
