We always go to the Red Wolfe Inn and since they re-opened after the renovations the service was a bit different. Instead of adding a 3.9% charge on someone's bill at the end of the meal you can just incorporate that in your food rather than having your staff have to feel awkward to tell the table when handing over the bill. Also, I noticed the price increases but less portions than usual. The food is great as always but there is a much better business process to incorporate price increases to make not only customer but staff feel less awkward when that bill comes. read more

I only heard good things about this place for the last year and I finally tried it. I very much enjoyed my experience and food at the Red Wolf Inn. Great staff, cool atmosphere, and fantastic steak and drink options. We had the stuff calms and French onion soup which hit the spot. All the food came out on time. Really really great steakhouse at very decent prices! It is a small place that looks kind of like a roadhouse bar but the steaks here, especially the New York Strip, are fabulous! The alcoholic drinks were served in soda glasses - so they are full size. The bar is extensive and prices are reasonable. On to the food - very good steak. Everyone in the restaurant had steak on their tables. My husband had a strip steak and he said it was really good- done perfectly and he likes it barely moving. I had chicken cause I don't eat red meat - yeah, I know but there's always chicken on the menu. My dish was chewy. The toppings were good and the portion was large but the chicken was chewy so I didn't eat most of it. Our friend had the stuffed flounder and he ate it all. I actually asked him if he was going to lick his plate. He said it was really good considering he was gonna "just get a steak sandwich". Overall, it was a really good experience. I really think it was not a night for chicken but in all fairness its a steakhouse not a chicken house. We will go back cause it checked all the boxes - great staff and service, good menu selections, fantastic steak, good drinks and all for a decent price. I took a nice hour ride to check this highly recommended Steakhouse and am I glad that I did. The place is on the small size but the decorations make the atmosphere very comfortable.I ordered a nice appetizer and it came out right away and was delicious. Dined at Red Wolfe this past Friday (3/19). The food was good but the service was atrocious. We had a 7:45 reservation, arrived on time, and waited. Waited. And waited. Almost fifteen minutes without anyone even acknowledging us. We were eventually seated and ordered drinks then decided on a NY strip and a filet mignon. We ordered those and that was the last time we would see our server for over 40 minutes. A food runner brought our bread and salads, which were both fine. Our steaks arrived shortly thereafter. The sizzling skillets and orange slices on the steaks is a little unnecessary, but the steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. It's a good thing they were because no one checked on us during our meal. Our baked potatoes were served dry (who eats a dry baked potato?) so we had to ask the food runner for butter and sour cream. We received boxes and our check the same way, but our server showed up just in time to process my payment without saying a single word. If I'm in the area I *might* order take out from Red Wolfe, but this was a one and done dining location for us. The steaks aren't good enough to make up for the rude and inattentive staff. read more

I have lived fairly close to this restaurant (22 miles) for at least 20 years and somehow drove past it without noticing it. I was on a neighborhood site and it was mentioned for the great steaks they had. So we decided to try it, OMG. We will never go anywhere else for steak, juicy, perfectly cooked. The restaurant and service are both good and i recommend the restaurant for the food. Streaks are very good. There is an issue that is somewhat annoying as they advertise on the menu that there is a 4.15% discount for paying by cash. When the bill came, there was a 3.9% service fee added and the cash discount applied which essentially cancelled each other out. Not quite sure of what the service fee was for and the waitress had indicated she was not aware of why it was being charged. The fact that one can enjoy a quality dinner and then get totally annoyed and frustrated to find out we were charged a fee to dine here. While the fee is not expensive, not being made aware of this when making reservations which are needed for this restaurant, it made the overall experience quite cheap. It was a nickel and dime adder that was not necessary. This incidental stupidity pushed me to say that I would not recommend this place until they straighten out their issues! read more

We have gone here plenty of times and will continue. As one of the other reviewers noted, there aren't too many quality dining options in this area. On my most recent visit my son had the beer battered catfish (quite tasty). I had a perfectly cooked 10 oz strip steak. They had bigger cuts available but this size was perfect. Also of note were their homemade steak sauce (served in old grolsch beer bottles). They had spicy and regular and both were terrific. The atmosphere is very relaxed (bar first, restaurant second). Pricing is slightly higher than expected but it really is the best steak place in the area! The beer menu is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Sad thing because I had heard good things about this place before their big "remodel" and was looking forward to getting some food from them. Apart from the nice waitress and the cleanliness, the rest was pretty bad. The Red Wolfe Sampler was not at all impressive, and was very pricy at $24. The side salads consisted of iceberg lettuce, one or two baby tomatoes cut up, and a few carrot strips. The steak literally had zero flavor, and the fries were decent. The shrimp on draught was ok, but a little over-battered. The steak salad was just like the side salad with strips of steak on top. Definitely not worth $20. The price point certainly does not match the quality of food received--it was extremely expensive, with a 3.9% "customer service charge" tacked on at the end that we were not told about from the beginning. We left thinking about how we easily could have gone to our favorite restaurant for half the price. Will not return. I am not usually one to post bad reviews, but I really would hate for others to have a similar experience and leave feeling the way we do. read more

I've been driving by this place for years and sorry I waited so long to try it. One of the best steaks I have ever had. As previous reviewers mentioned, the place doesn't look like much from the outside and the inside is rustic and relatively small. I had a cup of French onion soup as an appetizer and wish I had ordered the bowl. For dinner I had the 10 ounce filet medium with hot pepper topper with a side of dirty mash with gravy. The steak was huge and cooked perfectly. Can't say enough positive things about the quality of the food. Our sever was friendly and attentive. Only down side was seeing the wolves in the enclosed pen in the lot. Their enclosure looked very small and not very well maintained for wild animals. If you like good steak this place is a must try. Good staff food is excellent. If you get larger steak than the Alpha you better order one degree higher as they are very thick stakes ie for medium rare order medium. My wife's Alpha perfect medium rare. My Loki was more on rare side.. Again the bigger the cut the don't get wider but thicker. We went here for our anniversary. I had frogs legs and my wife had mushroom caps. Wife loved mushrooms, I thought frog legs were a little undercooked. Wife had the Chambord Duck, which was rich (as expected) with a baked potato and veg. I had the 5 oz. Filet Mignon with baked potato. My wife and I both asked for sour cream and chives for potato, we got one container of dried chives, a container of sour cream and a container of butter (which we didn't ask for). All was delicious. Terrible experience $18 for a london plate with frozen vegetables, mashed potatoes out of a bag and a steak that was butchered before it even arrived at our table. Why they sliced it, my guess would be to check what the inside looked like. Disappointing. Soda had a funny taste and coffee was god awful! Penne vodka tasting nothing of the such. My boyfriend and I are regulars now, after being introduced to this hidden gem back in July of 2018. Don't judge this place by the outside, just go in for dinner and try their caesar salad and their signature steaks. You will not be disappointed. Their meat is always perfectly cooked, no matter what size you order and they are served on a sizzling plate. Their dirty mashed potatoes are delicious and they have some pretty incredible specials, including the most incredible pork dish ( which they talked me into and I was floored at how delicious it was, since Im not the biggest pork eater and come here for the steaks).
