This is a really solid place to get pizza. It's right by the Bulldog so you can easily hop to the next place. We tried a couple of their specialty pizzas, but I think you'd be happiest just picking your own toppings from your favorite pizza to see if you like them. We got a simple pepperoni, our staple, and it was so good we came the next day to try more pizzas. I ABSOLUTELY love the Caprese salad. It's different, but in a good way. We also recently tried the take and bakes -- WORTH IT. Bake it on the tray they give you for 10 minutes and then finish it off on the rack by itself so the crust crisps up. I have to admit, I was not expecting to like this place. We had tried several pizza places in Red Stick since moving here in May and had yet to find a place we would eat at again. Being a native of Wisconsin and living in Chicago for a stint, I have high expectations for pizza. Plus this place is isn't much to look at from the street. But a 225 deal tempted us to try it. We actually have been here twice now. That is double any other pizza place in BR. On our first trip we ordered the Bou Ray pizza. It was sooo good. Full of meat, cheese and flavor. Crust was well cooked, real cheese and not too much sauce. On our second trip we ordered the Al Freddie Mercury. Again a real nice pizza. Flavorful crust, loads meat and high quality cheese. On this trip I also tried the caprese salad. It was a bit odd when it came topped with pesto. Surprisingly, it worked! I may start adding pesto the caprese salads I make at home. We have used all our 225 deals, but we really like this little place. We are looking forward to trying several other pizzas! read more

While I once bought a homeless guy a pizza here, I've never actually eaten here myself so I thought I should give it a shot. I like the look and feel of the place. Sort of a cross between 50's soda shop and a biker/burger joint with an Art Deco flair. Basic rock and roll is present throughout without being intrusive. The bar is small but kind of cool with this translucent counter top that changes colors every 30 seconds. There's an outdoor patio area - with bright red umbrellas - that I imagine is a nice spot to chill about 7 months a year (This IS Louisiana, after all). Although the large outdoor fans probably expand that timeline a little. So it's a Friday, and close enough to 5 o'clock that I order an Old Fashioned - which was tasty and not too sweet, and a generous pour. I also ordered one of their signature 10" pizzas - The Mothership. In very little time the kitchen had it up and ready - It was beautifully done - colorful, nice mix of really fresh ingredients, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions - thin crisp that was nice and crispy. Really, just right. Full disclosure: I don't typically eat pizza. But I've heard enough about this place to want to give it a try. It's now my new favorite pizza in BR - which is saying a lot coming from an infrequent pizza eater! There's more here than meets the eye, in terms of what you might expect on the menu. Pizzas - of course - and a number of interesting sounding specialities, at that. But they also have calzones, and salads of differing descriptions (The "Opa Greek" looks the best to me), some intriguing appetizers - including a variety of different types of bread beyond your typical garlic cheese bread, and their own "Zepp-wiches" - pizza crust bread wrapped around a number of different ingredient options - Greek, Club, Florentine, and Southwestern. I have had a sit down experience and a takeout experience and the pizza is BANGING. Best in Baton Rouge so far. It's not cheap doe. (Regular Pizza you will spend $30-$40) But it's worth it. And they charge extra for ranch dressing which is boo. I guess corona has caused a ranch shortage as well. I recommend the Great Balls of Fire! It's great. I have yet to try the boudin one. But, I'm sure it's good. They also have a drive through window! I think next time I'll try there take and bake pizza. Last night, I had the 10" (less than $20) and it was sufficient enough for myself still have slices leftover. But the pizza is good. Updated review: Last week I called and ordered a pizza w/ several modifications that weren't accommodated. When I called to speak to someone about the inconvenience of getting the wrong pizza the store manager named Taylor handled the situation poorly. Today I was able to speak to the owner, Mr. Ray. I was very impressed by his handling of the situation! He was quick to explain store processes and apologize for his staffs shortcomings. He did what any top-notch business person does and took immediate ownership of the problem. Moreover, he admitted that my pizza was made incorrect. He restored my faith that good customer service is a value at his establishment. Lastly, he has coached his store manager on the best way to handle customer complaints. I'm glad to have folks like Ray working behind the scenes! read more

After several (and I mean several) bad experiences here, I had written RZ off and vowed to never come back. My past poor experiences were surrounded by my order being lost (at least 6 different times, no exaggeration - I have witnesses). However, on my last visit, our experience far made up for the past times I have been. It was a busier than normal night, so the patio was full, but we were able to snag an inside table after about a 10 minute wait. Our server had a lot of personality and she could read the people at my table well. The was prompt with our drinks and even offered her suggestions on the craft beers. The beer selection is much better than years back. Our food arrived timely, and my order showed up for once! (Our table had a bet going on if it would or not. and while i lost that bet, I won with the calzone at the table. The Greek pizza is delicious too. All in all, this made up for the poor past experiences. A couple of things that I have noted, though - the parking is pretty limited but you can park at the Southdowns Shopping Center; they allow smoking on the patio outside which can ruin when i actually want to enjoy the taste of my food - I think they should outlaw it on the patio; the staff needs to be taught how to change the channels when games on are - we missed a lot of the first quarter as they were working it out for a game once. Probably some of the worst pizza I've ever had. I went in and ordered a pizza to go. The waitress was so nice and I liked the place! Unfortunately it didn't occur to me to look in the pizza box before I left. Whoa looks and tastes like a super market frozen pizza. Ah-mazing food here! I haven't been here since they renovated the patio area and the place looks stellar. The covered patio leads into a very cool bar area...with bubbles in the wall. Yes, bubbles. Aside from just being a cool spot to go grab some food, the food is just superb. I ordered a craft beer and there was almost frost on top which wins me over every time. We ordered garlic bread to start and it was so delicious. Toasted, yet soft and full of flavor, yum. I went with the meatball sub. It came on toasted bread, with the perfect amount of mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce with perfectly cooked meatballs. It was absolutely wonderful. Aside from the food, the staff was super friendly. Extremely helpful, polite, and professional. Our waitress gave great recommendations and she nailed it. Highly recommended by the hotel staff I was sadly disappointed in the pizza. The crust was a bit burnt and I think they were shooting for thin crust? It was a little too free of greasy goodness. The artichokes were old tasting and wilty and the alligator was both hardly present and void of taste. The hummus was awesome and the only redeeming quality of the meal, but when I spend $40 on pizzas, the pizza needs to be the star of the show. When the hubs said, "Let's just order a pizza for dinner!" I was like, nah. We're in a new city with new eats, so I consulted my trusty Yelp app and we happened upon Red Zeppelin. Hubs ordered the white sangria, made with Angry Orchard. He really enjoyed it. We ordered a large (16") half Mothership and half Bou-Ray. Lemme tell you...outta this world good! Thick, foldable slices like you find in NYC but not at all greasy. The Mothership is everything a supreme pizza should be. Full of veggies, meat, and cheese that is really filling. The Bou-Ray. The.Bou.Ray. Now that was a good slice of pizza. My thought was, when in Louisiana, we eat alligator and boudin pizza. It was salty and savory, you get a nice crunch from the onions and a bit of heat from the jalapeño. The crust on both pizzas is just thick enough to support the toppings but not so thick that it's all you taste. We finished with the tiramisu. The flavor was spot on, although we both would have preferred it a little more set. Still, we'd order it again. The only tip- we went during prime "take your family to dinner" time, which meant there were more than a couple of crying babies and littles running around. This place has always been a great atmosphere. However, my last visit was retched. I show up and sit at an empty table and was there for at least 5 mins. One waitress came by gave us menus and walked away. Then as I go inside to wash my hands (my family was still at the table) I see a woman complaining saying "I want my table. I am tired of white people thinking they can just take." I didn't think to much about it until the waitress came and asked us to move tables. OMG!!! Can I just say how much I love this place!!!! I didn't take any pictures because I've been here so many times but I regret it already. Honestly if I lived closer (and one day I really hope to live closer) I would eat here as often as I possibly could. The best pizza in town, hands down. The owner, Ray, is always inside or on the premises working on some little project or another. He's always got a smile and he's always happy to chat with everyone. The service is amazing. In particular-Taylor Tullos. Again, always with a bright smile that lights up the place even more than the delicious aromas and underglowing bar top. Before I start, don't get me wrong--this place is delicious. I ate here with a friend one night and loved it. Although I love the food, I despise the service. I received my receipt after paying and it was someone else's totaling around $50. They didn't swipe my card for this amount, but they did swipe my card AGAIN after it was already swiped. I looked on my bank statement the next morning and was charged twice. I called Red Zeppelin and asked for the manager and was asked why I needed the manager. Does it matter? My waitress from the previous night answered the phone, i'm not sure if she's a manager or not. She argued that it should not have charged twice, which it did, and then said that the owner was busy and she'd call back. I never spoke with the owner, just her. She said I should receive a refund in 2 business days, so I said okay and went about my day. I checked my bank statement yesterday and still had not received a refund. I called and asked for the manager and again, they asked why. Again, does it matter? I never spoke with the owner yet again. I left a message and did not receive a call back. I am of the strong opinion that it is very hard to screw up pizza.. And this place did the perfect job - of screwing up my pizza! For real! We ordered via 237menu.com (that service has its own issues) but anyways.. A large customized veggie pizza for 33 bucks and a large meat lovers pizza for 29 bucks.. I am really expecting a lot after I make that payment online! The brea appetizer that came was the most unappetizing dish ever! The bread was soggy and the crust hard and old. It was also floating in cold butter which was awful. Even with 2 hungry guys on my team, no one finished it! Then came the pizza.. The crust tasted like cardboard! It was hard and chewy and just a bad experience. My pizza came with tomatoes tho I did not ask for them - lead to my co worker not being able to haw pizza cuz she dislikes tomatoes. This is what Yelp is all about! Local, local, local rock stars! I felt like I was in the hippest place in Baton Rouge. Paulina N.'s review does this place real justice in description, so I'll skip that part. The patio is the place to sit here. If there is even a hint of sunshine, sit outside. but be sure to bring sunblock as there are no trees, but plenty of parasols on the tables. Now to the food... generous doesn't even begin to describe the portions. The lemonade I got in the old school Coca-Cola plastic cup was easily the size of three lemonades at any other pizza shop. Zeppelin's Spinach Salad was a fantastic blend of fresh tender, baby spinach, vine ripened tomatoes, fresh mushrooms (I opted not to get them), shredded mozzarella & Parmesan topped with crumbled bacon & served with a delicious, sweet, Vidalia onion dressing. Yes this is the menu's description, but it is spot on and tastes just as great. That dressing is something that I've been reminiscing on for a while, and it just lightly spread on there. Now to the Pizza! Since the salad was so hardy, I could only eat a couple slices of my "Whole Lotta Love" pizza. Had I known how good it was going to be, I would have ordered a half salad. The pizza had a wonderful light crispy crust that crackled with each bite and would have been enjoyable with any pie. But it made this pizza with chicken, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms (I opted for no mushrooms), feta & mozzarella cheese over an olive oil & garlic base seem like a guilt free choice in great eating! I cannot imagine that there could be a better pizza in Baton Rouge. Maybe NOLA with it's five star hotels and restaurants may have something to compete with, but for this busy college town, Red Zeppelin is easily the best hangout spot. This place is my kind of place. Good beer, pizza, music and outdoor seating. The 1 time I came I got the 'bayou-Que Pizza. It's the traditional bbq pizza; chicken, bacon, red onion and bbq sauce done well. I washed this down with Grimbergen Belgium Abbey Ale. This is now in my rotation amongst my favorite beers. The 2nd time I came I got the 'Great Balls of Fire' It's got sliced meatballs, jalapenos, feta, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, red onion and bbq sauce. Quite tasty. I also washed this down with my before mentioned fave beer. The entire menu is filled with LEd Zeppelin (duh!) and classic rock references. The music is the bluesy classic rock stuff that I love. There are 20 plus beers on tap, the crust is thin and reasonably priced. I will be back soon to try more of the menu. Oh and all the beers on tap are under 3.00 during happy hour. read more

Ordered cheese sticks with pesto b/c someone on yelp said the pesto was amazing. It was not. Im not even sure the correct type of cheese was used on that bread. The pesto was unimpressive.
