I couldn't be happier with this experience. An obvious leak in an interior gas pipe obliged the gas company to turn off the supply to our house -- no heat, no hot water, no cooktop. Reddick & Sons dispatched a plumbing technician the next afternoon. "Mitch" was a godsend. Obviously both expert and experienced, he took in my summary of what had transpired, then inspected our gas infrastructure. He was very professional, and explained the likely required steps to find the leak and the (potentially significant) associated costs. To his great credit, though, he was willing to listen to me (the homeowner) about the likely source of the problem. Together, we identified the probable root of the problem within just a few minutes. Then Mitch did his magic. He isolated the line, then pressurized the system with air and confirmed that there were no leaks at all. Reopening the suspect line depressurized the system almost immediately, and we had found the culprit. (It was a pretty "un-artful" tap into the main line, accomplished many years ago by the original owner, to feed a gas grill on the patio.) Mitch expertly severed and capped the line, then ran another pressure test -- zero leakage. He had me call the gas company while he cleaned up, and stood fast until the gas company technician came, verified the repair, and then restarted and checked all of the gas appliances in the house. In addition to his incredible technical expertise, Mitch was just an absolute delight to work with, just a pleasure to talk to and have around while he did a superior job. Our gas service was fully restored, with all appliances functioning and checked, within about four hours after Mitch arrived (including the wait for the gas company representatives to arrive). No homeowner could ask for more. A job that could have run to many thousands of dollars and involved massive cutting of drywall and ceilings instead was resolved quickly and efficiently -- thanks to both the technician's skill and expertise and his willingness to listen (and thus troubleshoot the problem rather than going on a fishing expedition just to run up the bill). And he was incredibly personable and conversational, too. I think it's safe to say that we've found a new plumbing company, and the one that we'll call in the spring to run a new gas line out to our patio. It is, of course, an impression formed on the basis of only one job, but the combination of responsiveness, skill, efficiency, courtesy and value that Reddick & Sons delivered in this case truly was outstanding, and I'm happy to recommend them without hesitation or qualification. While the heater worked fine during the winter, the A/C heat pump unit was not turning on in early June, and it was starting to get hot, so I tried our 2-10 Home Warranty first. They sent a tech out, who quickly told us we had no pressure, but he wouldn't perform a pressure test w/o 2-10 approval. After 2-3 weeks of long hold times calling 2-10 multiple times inquiring about approving a pressure test, then going back to the plumber, 2-10 kept saying they had no record of a request for a pressure test, and temperatures downstairs rising into the humid 80s, I decided the home warranty wasn't worth the time, and called up Reddick & Sons on a Saturday morning of the 3-day July 4 weekend. They showed up in less than a hour, came to the same diagnosis but offered options at different price points and explained the risks/warranties. We decided on replacing the 3-ton heat pump A/C, which they installed four days later. In the meantime, they charged up the A/C with freon for free to keep us cool during the 4-day wait, which would have cost over $500+labor with no guarantee on how long it would last. Now the A/C blows strong and works on all three floors (in which it never did before since we moved into the home 7 months ago) . Second time, I had a leak in a wall, and water was soaking the carpets and seeping under the flooring in the basement. The water damage restoration tech showed up on a late Sunday afternoon and used infrared to determine the likely leak area based on water saturation levels in the drywall. I called Reddick the following morning, which had a tech out to diagnose the issue in 30 minutes. He determined the leak was somewhere in the kitchen sink sewer drain in the wall. Water was leaking down the wall into the basement and outside under the house siding. He recommended opening a section of the exterior wall. I contracted a handyman to do this, called Reddick up the following morning. Same plumber came out, determined the parts and labor needed, provided an estimate, and had the work completed in a couple of hours. The work involved replacing all the old ABS sewer pipe with PVC from the kitchen sink down to the crawl space above the laundry room. These guys were life savers. I ordered a dishwasher with installation and haul away services from Samsung.com. The installers from Samsung did not even know how to shut off the water and when they disconnected the hoses water shit everywhere like a geyser. They kept asking me"where do you shut off the water?" And they had to crimp the hose to stop it from going everywhere. By this time I am trying to call Samsung and let them know these guys don't know what they are doing and just refund the installation fee of 189.00. The only guy who spoke English shows me a hose and how it is bigger at the tip than the old hose. He starts telling me I need to redo all my plumbing in the kitchen to fit the hose that came with the new dishwasher. The guys were there for over 2 hours and I was only 4 phonecards in with Samsung and 2 Chats trying to get my installation fees refunded. The guys told me I needed to hire a plumber to replace all my plumbing in the kitchen. They were telling me they need to go, they have other jobs. I told them not til I could get the install fees refunded. They said they would come back. I had a dishwasher sitting in middle of floor and all the hoses removed under sink from old dishwasher. The turned the valves back on and said you can still use water. They showed me and left. Then I see water with food in it pouring out of cabinets. They never sealed of the back of the garbage disposal when they removed the old hose. I called Reddit. They were there in less than 30 mins. My dishwasher was installed in about 30 minutes, using my existing hose to the water supply. They helped tidy up the mess left from the Samsung subcontractors. read more

We had one great experience with this company, and one terrible. They bought us off with a $250 check to remove our negative review. I went with it because hey, $250, and we already had tense relations with our management company and just wanted it to be ended. But we've since moved out and purchased a house in the area, and I feel compelled to let folks on Yelp know that their "five star" rating may or may not be completely false. Reddick, if you want to follow up and let me know that the jackass that visited our condo was suspended, I'll be happy to add a star. If you fired him, and can provide verification, hell I'll give you five stars. You saw an issue and addressed it. But somehow, I don't think anything came of it. It's pretty pathetic that you literally paid us to remove the review. Didn't even bother to tell us any details. No way of knowing if we'd ever get that same garbage contractor or not. Is he out there screwing other people over? Do you have any idea how stressful this experience was? Nope, 'cause you didn't bother to ask me, you just pinged the management company. Didn't even respond to my post here. I'm updating this review for the sole purpose of letting everyone here know that you pay for your reviews. I certainly want it known that we had a fantastic experience with one tech, but the experience with the second tech, with a far higher stakes issue, was completely unacceptable. Reddick and Sons recently installed a Honeywell full-house backup generator for us, and we are extremely happy with the company's timeliness, professional work, attention to detail and results. Michael, the electrician/task lead, visited a week before the installation date to confirm exactly where we wanted the installation done and answered any questions we had. He prepped the work site thoroughly, first setting up a visit by a Miss Utility technician to mark existing electrical and water lines, then returning the day after to oversee the digging of a trench from our house to our underground propane tank. The next day, the full 3-man crew arrived with the generator, equipment and components needed to complete all the work. As the installation progressed, Michael gave us a heads-up whenever the existing electrical power had to be shut down temporarily and was always available for questions and status updates. After the installation was complete, the team performed a test to ensure the generator performed properly. Alex then did a great job of walking us through the basic operating, safety and maintenance procedures for the generator, and provided us with all the vendor generator documentation and warranties. Michael followed up the very next day on site, coordinating with the county inspectors, performing a final test of the generator, and gaining approval for both the generator installation and the trench work. Kitchen" one control faucet 47 years old naturally began to leak. But being a handyman extraordinaire, I knew I could replace it with a new one. After 2 days on my back under the sink banging and cussing, I gave up and called 5 star Reddick & Sons. I think the guy who actually came was named Washington ? but he was good, pleasant, exactly on time with tools hand cleaner, opening trash can, and a mask. BUT, besides being GOOD he had an act that had me in stitches before he was gone. Estimate was good, $2.25. I had already anticipated a lot more to put his kids through college. And he took one hour on the dot including clean up. On his back under the sink grunting and pulling on wrenches, he finally got an air compressor and took going rat tat tat tat forcefully on the nuts under there for maybe 15 minutes, no go. Then attacked the top with a beautifully honed chisel and 20 lb mall destroying the top of it. Saying"no more Mr Nice guy from now on." Then: You told me not to be a plumber mom, but i begged. I envisioned being heavens plumber." When the top shattered from the hammer, "aren't you proud of me mom. SEE, Im really enjoying it." In exactly 60 minuets after I signed his I-pad, He looked heavenward and said "Did you see that mom. Did you? I DID IT" Me: you should take that on the road. Him: Its my dream with mom watching down. Ok, here's the story. I called Riddick and Sons for a second opinion on a previous HVAC "check-up". The previous company gave me a quote for replacing 2 capacitors. I live in one of the top floor units and my condenser is located behind the building and my HVAC unit inside the condo. One capacitor for the outside unit and one for the inside unit. Corbett L. came for the 2nd HVAC checkup. After a thorough investigation and going through the multi-point inspection, he showed ( yes literally showed me on the volt meter) my the voltage on both of my 5mv capacitors and they were at 4.9mv. He found no issues with my unit. He also advised me that the smaller filter I was advised ( by the same company) to put behind the register panel was restricting air flow. Unbelievable. this could have been catastrophic fortunately I just put in this filter. He did advise me of continuing with the preventative maintenance and I will with one adjustment. I will only call Reddick and Sons moving forward for not only HVAC but plumbing / electrical and any other servicing. I won't say how much money this company saved me however it was significant. A few things here. As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, I appreciate the integrity shown from this young man. He displayed honor. I chose Reddick & Sons because of the hundreds of positive reviews on Yelp, and I'm extremely happy with their service. I've had negative experiences with AC maintenance in the past and this experience was exceptionally good. Starting with the order process, I was extremely impressed with the rep taking my initial call. It's a small thing, but confidence inspiring when the rep is professional and is asking all the right questions without being pushy. Rare to find these days. The service itself was phenomenal. The tech arrived on time, was mindful of my house and wore booties, and was very pleasant. He had clearly reviewed the case notes from my initial call, so I didn't have to take time and explain the symptoms again. Seeing as I was on a Zoom call for work at the time, *** I really appreciated all of the little things that Reddick & Sons did to make my experience fantastic. *** The cost was very reasonable. Was interested in fixing/replacing the HVAC. He mentioned 3 options for me to pursue andI told him it was likely that it would be either be refill it enough until i get back from vacation OR refill it with 4lbs. Then I went upstairs to talk with my family on it. When I came back down I told him to just fill the HVAC. Then he said, "he already did it". I was very confused. I didnt see him do anything, and I dont undertand how he know how much to do BEFORE i told him anything. I was gone for like 1-2min. When I asked what he did he said he refilled it with 4lbs and that it "took very quickly". I have a big concern that instead of giving me a full recharge he put in very little to hold me until after vacation. I signed what he did AFTER he did it. Which was weird. Then when he left i was left with this bad taste in my mouth. While inspecting he ripped off metal tape and just left it on the floor, its still there, then said "it not doing much anyway". And I had to ASK him twice to put it back on since it was there before. Old tape is still on the floor. I see other reviews mentioning this type of thing. I emailed them to confirm if they knew what happened, they said someone will call me. I've had no contact. Our HVAC system is only 6 years old and we have had issues with it since we bought the house two years ago. A week ago, our heater stopped working...just a few days away from the coldest days we have seen all year. We had a shutoff valve start leaking in our house and needed a professional to come out and fix it up for us and a professional is what we got! I've always tended to look for local businesses to do work with since we just moved into the neighborhood a few months ago, and I think we have found our new go to shop for when things inevitably break. Replacing the appointment was easy enough over the phone, I always prefer to speak to people as opposed to an automated system or an app oh, so it was wonderful that they have the option. The tech was professional and right on time, with shoe coverings and a mask ready to go. He listened to our concerns, gave us quotes on the other plumbing projects we eventually want to get done, and was done with the work in quite the timely manner. Settling the bill was easy and will be reaching out to Reddick & sons for electrical work we want done as well. Even if another shop would quote less, I'm a firm believer in the thought of "you get what you pay for" and they deliver. We moved to Prince Wm County about 5 years ago. Reddick & Sons have been providing all of our HVAC services and repairs since then. The house we purchased had multiple "issues." Reddick's crew has made repairs/replacements to several leaking pipes and valves, two separate a/c units, oil boiler with 5 heating zones, and electrical upgrades. You will not find anyone more honest, professional, reasonably priced, or competent in this area. Their entire crew consists of the most hard working, reliable, and highly skilled technicians around. This is one company that is completely trustworthy. I am 100% comfortable leaving to run errands when they are at the house working. I never feel the need to monitor their activity. They are just really good people and they are careful with your property. They cover their shoes, put drop cloths down, carry towels and buckets if there's a risk of water draining from whatever they're repairing, and they clean up everything when the job is finished. We have heating and a/c contracts with them and we don't trust the work to anyone else. These folks will take good care of you. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Wish we had the option to give unlimited stars. They definitely rate far beyond 5 stars. read more

From my first interaction with Matt, my sales associate, to the entire crew throughout the large project, everyone treated my home professionally and worked diligently, skillfully, and carefully. Joey is exceptional in not only his knowledge of HVACs but his communication with me as the homeowner throughout the project. Additionally, my setup involved connecting and configuring a steam humidifier with a Lennox s40 controller and it was a relatively newer type of setup that was complex. Joey told me that he wanted to bring Dave to complete the work the following day because he wasn't 100% certain and it was important to him to get it done the right way and needed Dave's expertise. The next morning, Joey made the time to come back with Dave and they configured it confidently and explained everything to me. Joey and the entire team displayed the highest level of customer service. We called Reddick and Sons for a leaky showerhead; as with our previous few interactions, they were extremely polite and willing to help. Consistent with our previous interactions, they always show up when they say they will. In this case, they were able to come out in a day or two, at which point Walker quickly diagnosed the problem. He checked to see if he had the part on his truck but did not and so had to order the part. He was able to come out a few days later at a time of our convenience, and he replaced the part, even showing me the piece that had failed when he took it out. He did briefly have some struggles with getting the fixture threaded back on as well as one issue dealing with some plumbing that was installed backwards. He figured it out without difficulty and was completely good natured and unphased by it, even though it did extend the time for the job (at no cost to us). As with my interactions with Reddick and Sons on the phone, my interactions with Walker were very positive; he genuinely seems to enjoy his job, and it shows in his quality work. I was happy to pay for such a quality service. As he was leaving, he made sure to remind me to call if we have any further trouble. I appreciate that he stands behind his work. read more

We had an issue that looked like a partial power outage. All the circuit breakers were on (we flipped the relevant ones back and forth). Someone from Dominion came out, confirmed that the electricity coming to the house was fine, and also flipped the relevant breakers back and forth, and said there was probably a deeper problem in the fuse box. So we called Reddick & Sons. Grateful for the same day appointment. Carlo and Nicholas came and, not able to see the problem without opening the fuse box, opened it up and checked the voltages. Then they figured out that the breakers just needed flipping back and forth, I guess more firmly than I or the Dominion guy had done. So they charged a whopping $120 for this, but the problem was fixed. I was ready to give 5 stars and hire for future electrical work. I said something about not realizing it was such an easy solution. Then Carlo made a hilarious joke about how with an expensive house, you get an expensive wife. (!!!) So in this scenario, I guess I'm a shallow/trophy wife who's spending my husband's money willy nilly on unnecessary electrical work because I'm stupid. Wonderful. Reddick came out and gave me an estimate same day. When I called in the AM the next day it looked like it might be awhile to find someone that could provide service. Fortunately Brandy was able to locate a contractor who was doing work in a nearby area, even though I was rather abrupt on the phone. Carlos and his assistant arrived in the afternoon and installed a new light fixture which I needed to swap out after a painting contractor broke a bulb and uninstalled the light. Because the painter was not qualified to re-install a fixture I wanted to hire a licensed, bonded, and insured electrician. I called at least five other electricians, many with two week lead times, which was unacceptable because there were wires sticking out of the wall. That situation definitely made me feel uneasy, although Carlos assured me the that the wire nuts were properly capped off and would prevent any current from passing through as long as the switch was off. I appreciate the peace of mind of having a quality electrician to install the light and the speedy service helped make my day. Would definitely recommend Reddick and Sons. We used them for an air conditioning service appointment and we were very impressed. This was our first time using them and we chose them solely based off of their reviews and how well they seem to be rated from many customers. I can honestly say that the reviews they received are rightly deserved. The service technician called and informed me that he was about 30 minutes away before he arrived. I appreciate when this is done especially when you are given a time window and you atleast have an idea of when to expect the technician. Upon arriving, the technician took time to explain to me the process and go over any questions I had while he performed the service. In addition, he was able to answer or call back and get some answers about service plans that the company offers that my wife and I will definitely be signing up with for our air conditioning. Once again, I cannot say it enough especially in northern Virginia where I feel you constantly are having to bookmark good service and let folks know because there are plenty of examples of bad service and this is one of the great ones. Couldn't be happier with their service. Another big brand company we've been using for years told us our furnace needed replacing to the tune of $12,000. They claimed the circuit board was burned out and couldn't be replaced anymore due to the age of the unit (20 years) and that the unit was leaking gas. To top it off, unknown to us they took the circuit board with them so that the unit couldn't even be tested for a second opinion. Reddick and Son's sent technican David out within 24 hours of us contacting them, and David went over the entire unit and explained that they could get a replacement circuit board in a day and test it. Additionally if that didn't fix the issue their replacement options from the same national brands were literally thousands cheaper than what the other company quoted. In the end, David at Reddick Son's was able to rewire and install the new cicuit board and confirm that the unit was safe and not leaking. Homeowners beware that just because the company you've used is a "big box" company with thousands of trucks with their name plastered all over them and run thousands of radio ads doesn't mean they are all honest. read more
