The skin wasn't even crispy, and the duck itself was dry with an unpleasant odor that made it difficult to enjoy. The other dishes were better by comparison, but none were particularly memorable or impressive enough to justify the price. Overall: 4.1/5 [dine in and delivery] We dined here twice and also ordered from them once on Uber Eats, which gave us a good sense of the menu. The food is really only worth it during happy hour, but the service stood out every time. Our waiter, Robert, and bartender, Scotland, were friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel special. We were too full for dessert during one visit, so they surprised us with a complimentary appetizer for my birthday instead, which was incredibly kind. Spicy Crispy Beef ($12 HH | $21): The first time we tried this dish, it was phenomenal. The second time around, it was still good, but we got tired of it fairly quickly. Yuzu & Wasabi Candied Walnut Shrimp ($8 HH | $12): Came with two large shrimp that were absolutely delicious. This is one of our go to items. BBQ Duck Lettuce Wraps ($12 HH): The flavors were okay, but after a few bites, I had enough of this appetizer. Wow!! I'm impressed with the variety and creativity of the dishes here. Disclaimer though: for authentic dim sum, I wouldn't recommend it but if you want a fusion experience, I think it's worth trying. We opted for the free flow brunch, which is $58 per person. The best dishes were definitely the duck lettuce wrap appetizer and the duck fried rice. The duck here is really good. Next time, I will definitely try the Peking duck. I love how they put eyes on the crab dumplings and the Pac-Man dumplings are also sooo cute. But to be honest, the guacamole didn't make sense for me. Color-wise, the presentation was nice but I wouldn't actually eat guacamole with dumplings... The chicken is really salty. I don't recommend this. The curry with the crab dumplings were also salty. I appreciate the service as they packed our leftovers in to-go boxes, which made for a nice second meal. Don't forget about dessert! They don't have a dessert menu so they'll just tell you about it. The chocolate dumpling took some time to make and come out but it was delicious! It has Nutella and banana inside. Usually comes with four pieces but I just wanted a taste so they made me one. I went here for dinner with friends. When they first opened, getting a reservation was almost impossible, so I was excited. The space is nice, although the ambience felt more Italian than Chinese, and the prices are on the higher side. The service was excellent and my glass was never empty, which made the experience even better. Food highlights: the scallion pancakes were crisp and flavorful, and the beef and broccoli with filet mignon was easily the best bite of the night. The meat was tender and full of flavor, but it mostly just tasted like steak over broccoli and not really any Asian flavor or influence. The hot and sour soup was good, but I've had better for much less. The lollipops weren't a favorite. Overall, if you are looking for traditional Chinese food this isn't the place. I've been wanting to check out Red Farm for some time now. But... I just couldn't justify eating Chinese food at the price point it's in. However, after being invited to a friend's birthday dinner in their private room, why not. As expected, the prices are staggering & the portions are small--I nearly choked when I saw the menu. The Peking Duck alone is $105, double the price of Bamboo House's version, and honestly, just as good, maybe even less so. Be careful getting here, as Red Ash (Italian restaurant) is around the corner and may add some confusion. While the dishes we had were tasty (Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings, Gold Coin Scallion Pancakes served Curry, etc), Red Farm is comparable to many other Americanized Asian restaurants in the area who focus on the same attributes--Elevated Chinese food using quality ingredients catering to the American palette. So to redfarm we go, and the soup dumplings did not disappoint. Delicious! But also $20, so $5/dumpling, that hurts. Despite enjoying my meal here, I can't really recommend this spot. RedFarm is your typical Americanized Asian food, think of it like expensive Panda Express (no shame in this tho since I actually like PandEx). I have two main issues with the restaurant. One being pricing. At some price point, I think it's much better to go to Uchi or some very nice steakhouse for a better meal. The other, which is the bigger issue for me, was cleanliness/freshness. We ordered a variety of dishes, so I couldn't pinpoint what it was, but right after the meal, i was constantly gushing liquid out of my piehole for the rest of the night. I could only blame the restaurant since I didn't have anything else that day. The restaurant still earns a star for service and their food actually tastes decent. I love their filet and seafood fried rice tho I suspect one of their seafood dishes caused the eruption. We came due to an AMEX plat resy credit and wanted to try some fresh takes on dimsum and did the rolling brunch for $58/person. We had a fantastic server (Diar) who didn't hesitate to give us recommendations when we didn't know what to order. Diar was also super attentive without being overbearing - refilling our water frequently, noticing when we were ready for the next round of orders, etc. The dishes were suuuper flavorful -- and if they were more traditional, they actually tasted authentically chinese (as opposed to your american chinese takes). If you're here with a party of 4, would highly recommend going with the rolling all you can eat option because the portions are perfect for sharing. Dropped in for an early dinner and caught the tail end of happy hour (which was good given the pricing of the cocktails). The restaurant has a bar area where you can get a drink if you need to wait for a table. Seating is both within the restaurant and a covered patio area. It looks like the restaurant could accommodate large parties, but would really require advance reservations if you want to do that. According to the website - valet parking is available for $12 (plus tip). The happy hour menu was a welcome reprieve for pricing - both food and drinks. Cocktails were near the $20 mark so $10 happy hour pricing made them much more affordable (if not an indication of the mark up). Several appetizer plates were available as well for reduced pricing which gave us the opportunity to try more things. Our server Taylor was awesome and helped with recommendations and kept our little table full of food and devoid of empty plates. Overall - I would say that the food was pretty good albeit leaning more towards the over salted side. Pricing was rather elevated - which I think is owned in part to their other locales (NY and Miami) - this makes it less of a place I would have on rotation and more of an occasional change of pace restaurant. Here's what we had: Spicy Crispy Beef - Crisp (or at least hard) bits of fried beef tossed in a slightly spicy sauce (a little sweet/spicy) with onions. This was much better when hot - less so as it cooled. BBQ Duck Lettuce Wraps - a mix of dice duck and some veggies with beautiful Bibb lettuce leaves. Served with what appears to be a pico de Gallo and a sauce. We were excited about this dish but it was turned out to be just ok. The duck mix wasn't memorable, the pico was an odd accompaniment, but the sauce added a little more depth to the flavor). We wouldn't order this one again. Mushroom & Vegetable Spring Rolls - a bit of a misnomer since they aren't exactly spring rolls, but are more fried egg rolls. They show up looking like trees on a cucumber base with wild fried limbs. An interesting presentation, but the rolls were a surprise delight for the evening. Easily in our top 3. Chicken and Shrimp Lollipops - two long toothpicks adorned with a golf ball sized ball of shrimp and chicken that had been fried. If you try to bite - they will fall apart (maybe better as a single bite). We liked these. Ma Po Tofu with Chopped pork and shrimp - this was also a very good and also the least salty of the dishes we had. It paired well with a side of rice (but also - getting charged $5 for a bowl of rice??? I mean it's it a staple of Chinese food?) Wide Rice Noodles with BBQ'd Duck - this one had fairly authentic flavors with nice wide rice noodles and tasty duck. This one was universally well liked. Drinks - The Eastside Roku - Roku Gin, Bergamot, Butterfly Pea Blossom, Shiso, Cucumber and Lemon to combine in a flavorfully refreshing purple drink. Kiyushiki Old-Fashioned - Suntory Tiki, Nori, Angostura Bitteres, Ginger and Agave. Makes a pretty decent lightly flavored old-fashioned. read more

We did not have a bad experience, it was just underwhelming and lacked quite a bit. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, so I would not spend a lot of time contemplating what to wear, as it is very casual and that extends to the staff. Our waitress Marissa was very sweet, but everyone was just kind of young and not as professional as one would have hoped at an establishment such as Red Farm. We dined here the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it was quite empty. I am not sure if this is normal or if it was due to it being a holiday weekend. At any rate, there were times it seemed to be more staff than patrons. Not really knowing where to start, we began with the pac-man dumplings and crispy duck and crab dumplings. The pac-man dumplings were good, but I felt they are more designed for pics on SM. The crab and duck dumplings were not your typical dumplings; they were deep fried and the filling was stuffed inside of a small crab shell. They also had little red eyes, again for SM pics. (Please see pics below). They were awful as was the curry that accompanied the dumplings. For our mains, we had the mushroom and vegetable spring rolls that were good, but the presentation was a bit over the top. Stopped by RedFarm for an early dinner on Christmas (thank to for staying open ). The interior feels very warm and inviting. The staff was top notch. We probably had 7-8 people stop by our table to clean, swap plates, pour water, take our order, etc. The food is good with plenty of new non-traditional takes on traditional items like lamb dumplings and pastrami egg rolls. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here on a low key wednesday night and it was just that. We had a little wait while being seated which was weird because not that many people was inside. We ordered the pastrami egg rolls, crispy beef, shrimp/crab soup dumplings, bbq duck flat noodles, and the key lime pie. All portions were tiny to be honest. The best was probably the soup dumplings, but at 4 pieces for $25, there was more to be had. Service was great. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall damage done for 5 items was around $140. We pretty much ordered every item on the Small Bites happy hour menu and everything was AMAZING!!! plates came out in stages, crispy beef was a little too crispy but delicious flavor. The chicken and shrimp lollipops were a delightful surprise! Pan fried pork buns had an incredible "chorizo flavor". The STAR of the show for me was the BBQ fried rice. Visited Red Farm after recently visiting the other new Chinese restaurant in town (Zoé Tong) and unfortunately was not blown away. We were able to easily book a reservation in advance and were seated quickly, however our server took about 30 minutes to take our order, then had to take it again 10 minutes later after she misplaced her notebook. We ordered the shrimp-stuffed shishito poppers with tomatillo sauce, pan fried pork buns, long life noodles with morel mushrooms and yellow leeks, applewood smoked bacon fried rice, and three chili chicken with peanuts, and split it between four people. The portion sizes are slightly above average but still rather pricey, and we left the restaurant still hungry. I'd recommend ordering the gluten free version of the shishito poppers which come grilled instead of fried and have a much better texture (there was a kitchen mixup so we ended up trying both the gluten free and menu versions -- trust me!). The pan fried pork buns were also good and had the right amount of crispness, however came out kind of cold. The three chili chicken was our favorite dish. The peppers have good flavor and the chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. In contrast, the long life noodles did not have a lot of flavor, however the morel and brown button mushrooms in the noodles were delicious. Red Farm's applewood smoked bacon fried rice also did not have a lot of flavor and was pretty dry. If you order this dish I would definitely request soy sauce or any one of their other sauces, it is not already on the table. Their sauces are very flavorful and delicious. We tried the peanut coconut satay, hoisin, soy sauce, and housemade chili oil. The drinks were flavorful too. Our favorite was the El Sabio, which had delicious yuzu foam. The drinks take a while to come out, so I would recommend ordering them as soon as possible after you're seated. They bring out fresh plates for everyone after each dish which can be nice if you do not want sauces/flavors mixing, however seemed kind of wasteful. The restaurant decor is trendy and its location is conveniently located on West Third Street. Overall, I was expecting more from a restaurant at this price point that is successfully operating multiple locations in New York. Maybe it is just this restaurant, or maybe they are still experiencing growing pains, but I am not sure if or when I'll be returning. read more

Either way, it was flawlessly executed... I had to quickly write this review because we couldn't even enjoy our food. They tell you to order the entire family style meal at once (cool I love expectation setting) but then what happened was a whirlwind of "what the fuck happened? Did we eat?" Situation. Food was dropped at the too small table without saying what dish it was, so fast (again could be great service) they had to stack plates then tried taking plates where we weren't even done and it was pretty stressful. Now, dumpling family style street food is fast, and honestly amazeballs.... Were they trying to mimick that? Idk. But if they were, then don't charge that much to not even enjoy the food ‍ three of us had a total of 5 drinks (3 beers and 2 of the house roses) along with three dumplings and black bass for $188 before tip. Yes it's pricey but the food here is quite elevated in comparison to run of the mill Asian fusion places. They do a really good job of making their take on Asian favorites interesting and tasty. Coming to this well rated restaurant I was expecting a lot more Entering the restaurant we were greeted with "we don't open till 5" it was 4:55p We were escorted to our table and greeted by a server who had the warmth of a cold fish This maybe harsh but when you feel like you are inconveniencing someone it's not very inviting feeling The order was taken and the food was delivered by a much friendlier staff The bus boy couldn't have been friendlier We ordered three different dumplings The soup dumpling was our least favorite (a bit tasteless) We ordered the hot and sour soup that was delicious and so was the sea bass, shrimp and cashews and rice noodles The chicken and peanuts tasted as though they were soaked in vinegar Overall it was an overly priced okay meal Would I come again ,no Maybe being spoiled by so many great restaurants in Austin I had higher expectations The Ambiance is lacking as it felt a bit sterile read more

Redfarm was one of top restaurants ive been waiting for to open this year in Austin. I really liked how they added their own twist/flavors to traditionally chinese dishes. The teas we ordered were also really nice. I personally thought their food was way better than wu chow. The peking duck was tasty but i think i prefer bamboo house's duck. The chicken dumplings and the crispy beef were my favorite dishes of the evening. Will definitely be back to try out their full menu in the future. read more

The Friday Express Lunch at RedFarm Austin is where it's at! For just $28, you get a ton of delicious food--seriously, come hungry. The yuzu arugula mango salad is absolutely to die for--I could eat it daily. The hot and sour soup is packed with flavor, and the grilled shrimp that comes with it is perfectly done. The best part? Another great experience at RedFarm. My parents are visiting from out of town so I took them in for their first time and it did not disappoint. Jen took care of us and answered any questions we had and made ordering so easy. She was very knowledgeable and helped us pick the perfect meal. The food was outstanding, but the winner of the night was definitely the Filet Mignon. One of the best steaks I've had. The pork and crab dumplings are always a go to and never disappoint. Ken, the manager, also checked in on us and our experience. He was so sweet and has such a passion for his job. He was very knowledgeable and also answered any questions my parents had. This was a great restaurant. We had amazing food and incredible service by Evan and staff. He was so personable and provided great detail about the items we were ordering. We enjoyed the shrimp and chicken dumplings, pan fried pork buns, pac man dumplings, and oxtail dumplings. Entrees were great also, we enjoyed the BBQ Duck and noodles and the crispy shrimp stuffed chicken. Don't forget to leave room for the chocolate dumplings.
