The best burger in Chicago. This is the only review I have ever bothered to write. Double Cheeseburger yes yes yes.

Really good cheeseburger, but make sure and get a double. It is very inexpensive and you won't regret it. The fries are plentiful and delicious. You need to add salt, but I tend to prefer to add my own. I look forward to trying a hot dog the next time I go (oh yes, there will be a next time! ) Am reserving the fifth star till after I try it. The restaurant itself is small and plain, but very clean and bright. It is a joy to find a new (to me) place for a good, inexpensive meal in Chicago. read more

One of the best burgers in all of Chicago and it's less than $5. I've been here twice and it's one of the best cheap eats on the Northside. Their fries are hand cut and are very tasty, although they can be a big soggy at times. They come with all orders. I'm sure the shrimp is good, but for firs timers order a the double red hot ranch burger. It's cooked to perfection with awesome flavor. The hot dogs are a bit disappointing, but no need to order dogs with such awesome burgers. Also a side note, but they're open late night. Had to ask 100 times to get salt, silverware, ketchup, a cup for water etc etc. The milk shake machine was broken, they were out of mustard....not sure if it was just bad timing on my end or if the manager here is just lazy/unaware of what's going on at his joint. They make the burgers in house and it was fresh off the grill. Also pretty cheap, but the experience wasn't great. Now, I understand that might not be the purpose of this place. I came here during the scoreless first half of Mexico's world cup match versus Croatia. My girlfriend wanted meat and boy, she got it. These thin, griddled patties are juicy in the middle, with crispy edges. The fries are super seasoned. The whole thing threw the both of us into the deep red part of the meat zone. Red Hot Ranch is a super good option if you want to have a quick lunch. I think the food is super good and wrapped up so that it is easy to eat both your main food and then the sides. I highly recommend the spicy fried shrimp there, which is amazing!!!!! The only reason I am giving this place a 4 instead of a 5 is because the service there sometimes feels a bit rushed and the toppings on your food are sometimes not fully correct. As in right in front of you, with the cutter attached to the wall, and then tossed into the oil. They're also made fresh; they'll never sit under a heat lamp. If you ask nicely, they'll also make them crispy for you. If you like soggy fries, you probably work for ISIS. You can also get a pound of very delicious jumbo fried shrimp here. I recommend sharing. I once ate them all by myself while watching Sunday night HBO. I have no regrets and felt fine afterwards, but I recommend sharing because most people are not the disgusting pig I am. read more
