Big city restaurant in a small town! Very upscale menu, creatively presented. Unique, gourmet menu that is a good balance between fish and meats. There were a few veggie options where appetizers were easily turned into a main course dish. The portions are very large! Some dishes were a little over seasoned for my party's taste, however. It was a bit noisy and could use some hanging wall coverings to baffle the sound. Nice wine list with many NW selections. Prices are a little high. (about 2x the retail). I recently moved back to town and heard this place had opened. I've always been leery of "nice" restaurants here on the harbor because they either 1- Are too snooty for their own good, 2- the food portions are very small or 3- their food isn't all that great. At worst, all 3. This place is AWESOME. First impression: I was pleasantly surprised at the decore and artwork and how simple everything is. The restaurant smelled good, and we were politely greeted and seated by the hostess. The server was with us momentarily, and took good care of us. She knew the menu, answered our questions, and best of all: didn't rush us as we figured out our choices. We decided on some safe food since this was our first visit. My wife got a burger. I got a fried cod sandwich. It seemed odd to have a fried cod sandwich on the menu, but I went for it. Plus the large clam chowder, which we split. The chowder was AMAZING. Best chowder on the harbor! And the portion was equally impressive. More than i thought we we're going to get. The burger was great...the grass fed beef really stood our as different than anyone else's burger here. The fried cod sandwich was incredible. It tasted like homemade fish tacos but on a brioche bun. I recommend this place for food... it was outstanding. Some of their business systems need work. Want to call out the hostess Sarah as a real star for her poise and tact. The reservation system overbooked the restaurant and she had to break the news. She was great. It was noisy enough that we had trouble hearing each other but it got real quiet when the food came. I'm on the fence with this review....the overall experience was probably a 4-star, but based on food flavor alone, it's more like a 3-star. We tried this place while road-tripping around the 101, it was refreshing to try something totally new and off the beaten path. The atmosphere was cool, nice rustic/mod design. The place is a little too loud, they might do their patrons a favor and install some acoustic panelling to cut down on the noise; it was hard to have a conversation. It was a bustling Friday night though, so I digress. I appreciate the farm-to-table philosophy. The menu selection was eclectic and playful. The flavor fell a little short of expectations though. My overall impression is that the chef may have a salt-phobia...everything was way under salted. Still, the food was prepared beautifully, and the presentation was creative. A generous pinch of salt in every course would have completely changed our experience. Also, the wait time between our appetizers and main course was way too long. Not sure if the kitchen was over-tasked or what, but we waited at least twenty minutes before our main dishes were served. Otherwise, the service was excellent. And the host (possibly the owner?) was friendly and attentive. The place is a little over-priced, but the portions were decent. Good pricing, good size portions! Make more bread please! Brussels sprouts were excellent! Even my friend who didn't like Brussels sprouts had seconds. I'm sorry I don't know the ingredients, but it was like a sweet basalmic glaze with a hint of ?berry? Complimentary Sourdough bread with seaweed butter: bread was delish, freshly made. I didn't think the seaweed made any flavoring, just decorative. One star taken for having only one loaf for us, and no more for a 7:45 sit down. If you make croutons out of, why not have a few other loaves?!!!! Your hours say open till 11:00 pm, you should have more bread. Entrees: Duck with mushroom is a dish for mushroom lovers. It was good and there are a lot of mushrooms. Pork belly with a modern slaw (has NUTS) was also very good. Oyster risotto was not the favorite, due to being very rich. May be suited for a pallet other than ours. NY strip steak- marinated with excellent flavors and cooked to perfect temperature. I didn't like Black char outside, but inside was Med Rare as requested. This place gets 6 stars! One of the most creative and delicious meals we have had in a long time. This chef could be in NY, SF or LA, but residents of Aberdeen have an incredible owner/chef to cherish. The grilled peaches with burrata cheese were beyond perfection in taste and presentation. The scallops were also fantastic, and both were listed as "small plates." The portions were beyond generous. The sable fish was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce, and if you like a burger, it could not have been better. The only critique I can think of is that it is only open 3 nights per week! This place was a nice surprise! You have a decent local food scene in the area, but not a place that complements the food with an amazing selection of craft cocktails and wine selection! Sit at the bar and ask Daniel for a suggestion for the evening, make sure you mention some details like your favorite spirit or you to-go cocktail and he can start an amazing drink journey! When is time to move to the food, you'll find a nice selection of oysters. The menu also offers a nice but small selection of starters and appetizers that is inspired by local ingredients and flavors! I tried the rock fish ceviche and it was a well balanced dish. Second course options are fantastic as well. The portions are generous so come hungry!!!! Owner/Chef Bickar is happy to recommend his favorites in a genuine and welcoming way. When we drive past Rediviva we are usually too early to stop. Finally last night the timing was perfect for us early dinner people. We had high expectations because the owner/chef also runs Frontages Pizza at SeaBrook. This place has the same professional welcoming warm atmosphere. As soon as we walked in the door we knew it was going to be very good.. The menu really does have something for everyone (who enjoys very well prepared fresh ingredients) Husband had the herb encrusted pork chop with I think polenta. Chop was trimmed perfectly, moist and flavorful. I had the warm goat cheese salad with beets etc. Really this may be the best salad I have ever had. I was not sure how big it would be but it was definitely a entree salad We are not dessert folks so we took a pass. Small place in the downtown area. Staff was nice. I had the oysters for an app an they were decent. Would have been nice to have some different sauces for them though. Don't get an old fashioned because they don't know how to prepare one. No large ice cube or sphere and lots of extras - just Bourbon, orange peel and bitters folks. Highly recommend for craft cocktails and shareable plates so you can get a taste of everything. The focaccia was so good we got one to go. Food was great. Service was not. I was excited to try the food after reading other reviews. Love the locally sourced concept. However after our server brought us some wine to try she didn't come back to take our order for over 20 minutes and instead served other people who came in after us. Finally the bartender came over to take our order. Then our waitress came back to tell us the entree we ordered had just run out. That was because other people who came in after us ordered the last of the one dish I really wanted. We ended up getting something else that was fine but not what I had really wanted. It's really too bad because the food was excellent. They really need to get at least one more server or better train the one they have to do a better job of serving people in the order they arrive. read more

We had one of our top 5 dinners EVER at Rediviva last night. Started with bread and caramelized butter and split a salad. Delicious. Dinner (we each had one of the two steaks on the menu) was even better. It was my birthday so we went for dessert and (surprise!) it was amazing. My husband thanked me several times for "dragging" him there and we will definitely be repeat diners. I admit, when I first heard how amazing Redaviva was, I has mentally thought "great for Aberdeen?": However, we were wowed by our meal last weekend! Redaviva is a must visit to see Pacific Northwest produce,fish and beef at it's finest. As a starter, we ordered the mussels en bleu- which was an absolute hit! We also ordered the salmon which came served with a healthy dose of chanterelles. We also ordered the pasta dish to try which was once again filled with Chanterelles- I was in Chanterelle heaven! The decor is sophisticated, sleek and I'm sure the locals appreciate having a fine new restaurant in their midst. Well worth the price- and a must visit! read more

My wife and I had dinner at the Seabrook town hall, cooked by the Rediviva restaurant chef/owner (Andy Bickar) and served, we assume, by the restaurant staff. It was magnificent start to finish. Stephen, the wine steward for Rediviva was really the host for the dinner, and he was an absolute star, providing historical context for Rediviva (which opened only about six months ago) and detailed background on all the wines served. In fact, the wines were selected for the meal first and the food course were crafted to match the wines - they did a great job with the entire meal. We were seated at one of only five banquet-style tables with eight persons per table as I recall. The settings were absolutely done in fine dining style and the service was mostly excellent. The meal was a challenge for me, and I relished it: oysters on the half shell for the first time in my life, and they were delicious (I don't like seafood that smells like the sea!) and paired with an excellent wine - a Cadaretta Semillon/Sauvignon blend I believe. The fiddlehead fern salad was a real treat, and again a first for me. One course was sablefish, and though I was anxious about even trying it I ended up not sharing any with my wife, and enjoying every bite. The lamb shank was done very, very nicely and if I said anything negative it would be that the portion was just very large for a seven course meal! Not complaining, though, it was great and the red wine it was paired with was delightful (in fact I think Stephen paired it with a pair of glasses of wine from the same maker, same year, different blends, which were wonderful on their own and even better presented in contrast). The last entrée was a beef dish and Andy came out and set expectations that it would be a little "toothy" and indeed it was not tenderloin. Andy had explained that within the context of the 100-mile meal and the cost of putting it on he needed to find a cut of beef that would not break the bank and so he'd braised the cut he'd chosen in a very simply broth (of wine, I believe). My wife and I both commented that we were so pleased that he set the right expectation for the meat because as we ate the dish we were delighted by it because our expectations were calibrated correctly. Andy visited the dining room between courses and explained how Rediviva sources locally and has helped local farmers to meet the USDA bar to provide to the restaurant. He presented a staff member that forages for wild goods, and he verbally tied all the food he prepared to the coastal Washington areas around Seabrook - the perfect complement to Stephen's detailed wine stories. All in all this was a meal that rivaled the best ones that I've had in Seattle - places like Crush and Rovers and Campagne (when it was open) - though with perhaps a little less polished wait staff. That said, I'd put Stephen up against the wine stewards of any Seattle restaurant for personality, if not encyclopedic scope. I will definitely look for any opportunity to visit Rediviva on trips to the WA coast. read more

If you are in Aberdeen and in the mood for a lovely fine dinning experience with a laid back vibe then come to Rediviva. First I can't express enough how cool the building is. The old city structure that was updated to keep that turn of the century charm is awesome. The huge entry way door is beautiful as is the bar. I just loved the whole feel of this place along with the dark funky art adorning the walls. Our waitress was quick to seat us and get our starting drinks in. She was very sweet and had a fantastic knowledge of the menu. My mother and I came in particularly to try some local Wa oysters. We were not disappointed, we had both the local grays harbor and the shigoku, both were amazing. The mignonette to accompany them was absolutely phenomenal. Least to say we ate a ton of oysters. After all that amazingness my mother and I enjoyed some crispy brussel spouts with a wonderful strawberry glaze, seriously this dish kicked butt. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and my mother had the butter lettuce salad with pears and Gorgonzola, and no surprise it was all absolutely yummy. To top it all off this place had the best music too, whatever the station was it rocked, not too loud but perfect! Loved this place! And that's coming from someone who's dined in seattle for the past 12 years- I wish it weren't so far but will definitely make it a regular pit stop on the way to ocean shores. The ambiance is homey and industrial with local northwest - inspired art. Both the waitstaff and fellow patrons are so warm and friendly- I came in and sat at the bar for a quick bite and immediately was invited into a conversation with a couple ar the bar and the bartender. The menu was really northwest inspired- I learned a new term- "boat-to-table" and there were a ton of local beers and liquor on the shelves, scrappys bitters in the war chest too. I had the clam chowder and the strawberry-chili glazed brussels sprouts, both were amazing. Even after I brought the sprouts home they were just as good. Not sure exactly how they are prepared, but the crispy awesomeness and the tender, toothsomeness means hands down the best I've ever tasted. The clam chowder is delicious. Homemade and crazy creamy. You won't want to eat this everyday, nor eat it at night before you go to bed, especially if you have reflux. Lol. Made with steamers. Yum. The bone marrow... Oh. My. Goodness. Put on your viking helmet and let out a grunt or two as you spread marrow on crispy thin toasted slice of bagette and saturate it in BACON JAM!! Andy, you're a mad man. The burger is delicious. It's a myriad of flavors. Cooked to order, it boasts homemade sauces, pickled onions (I think) and locally made bun. The house made potato chips are painfully addictive (chapped lips at the time). I'll start by saying not many places get a 5 Star from me because you have to be really good to make a foodie happy. I've been to this restaurant several times and the day I tried their burger, I was seriously shocked that this restaurant in this town with not much great for dining has now won first place in my opinion for best burger EVER. This title previously held by a restaurant in Wells, England (random find when I was there in 2016). The staff are good, the food is sometimes a bit on the 'creative' side with some interesting pairings but I have to say....that burger was A M A Z I N G - so thank you Chef. I'll be in this town periodically and I'll endeavor to have one every time I'm here. The fries that come with the burger are seasoned with something sweet which is too creative for my liking but easily fixed by asking for regular fries or not seasoned with whatever they use. The Parm fries are divine. I tried the steak my partner had....yum! I had the pork tenderloin and sable fish on a previous visit and while the pork was cooked to perfection, the side was overwhelmed with wine....but forgivable because everything else was outstanding. Please never go away Rediviva. I hope the locals of Aberdeen keep your doors open. read more
