Halibut creation of May 21, 2022. Skin-on, super fresh, boat to table!
    Martin R.

I came back with highest expectations given my previous swan song, and ordered the wagyu beef carpaccio and the rockfish dish. I felt both didn't deserve the highest marks and here is why. The wagyu beef capaccio suffered from a heavy handed use of a tartar- similar sauce, which drowned the delicate flavor of the high quality beef completely. And the rockfish was slightly overcooked and suffered from a heavy handed use of salt. Now, both of these creations were brilliantly conceived that is, capturing the spirit of the finest PNW cuisine, but the execution was a bit off, missing the right balance of ingedients at least tonight. Of note, I asked for bread, which I felt would have complemented the capaccio well, but there was none in the house. Initially I was seated at a table up against the wall but asked to move as I was situated directly under an irritatingly bright spot light. I can't relax sitting under bright light and therefore I wouod also not describe the restaurant as reliably romantic. Not all tables have the same ambiance and fixing this would level up the atmosphere. Service was very friendly and on point!

Loved the spruce tip sour. Came with a pinecone which was cinnamon scented. The roasted beets dish was interesting. Beets were executed well. In the middle of the dish was a nicely toasted brioche bagel. Egg yolk and dashi sabayon added a nice salty creamy umami touch. There were pickled beets surrounding the bagel as well. I wish there was a slight sweet crunch from candied hazelnuts. Service was quick and professional. There were over ten tables as well but I chose to sit at the bar where everyone else was. Nice vibe. Reminds me of Seattle especially seeing how my drink and roasted beets dish ended up costing $43 after service fee, tax and tip. There's no happy hour.

Rediviva was a spectacular experience. Our friends, Matt and Rosa, invited us out to celebrate Rosa's birthday. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left we were treated like royalty. Our server was great and helped us make some spectacular menu choices. The menu was full of locally sourced gourmet and made from scratch food. We loved the music as it enhanced our dining experience. Each of us ordered a different type of meal and enjoyed sharing the beef, duck, beet salad and halibut. Our appetizer was a wonderful savory cabbage dish, and the dessert was a raspberry masterpiece with a candle for Rosa to blow out. I feel like it's a high class five star restaurant like you would find in Seattle nestled in downtown Aberdeen. It was delicious, and a wonderful experience! This place is highly recommended.

Came here to celebrate my birthday. As someone who is new to the area, I had been pretty disappointed with the lack of fine dining in town (there are lots of good casual spots but nothing more upscale). My partner brought me here, knowing that it would be a hit. Having been to Rediviva before he was familiar with the excellent service and the menu; solid indicators of the kind of evening we would embark upon. As soon as I saw the wine list, I knew I was in the right place. We had cocktails to start; I had an old fashion with a perfect balance. had wine with dinner, a Willamette Valley Chardonnay. Started with a wild mushroom tart which was phenomenal! For the main, I had blackened Cod with miso burre blanc. The flavors were so delicate, and exactly the kind of ambiance, service and attention to detail I seek with this kind of dinner. Our sever Jen, was also great, she told us extra background info about the menu development and ingredients which I always appreciate. Chef Andy even came out to say hello, all in all 10/10 can't wait to be back. I cannot recommend Rediviva enough!

The mushroom appetizer was my favorite

Very happy with this experience. It made me feel all fancy for a not ridiculous price. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very romantic. I really enjoyed it as a nice dinner with the husband. My only complaint was the menu was very small so there weren't a lot of options to choose from which could be difficult for picky eaters.

    Rediviva Burger medium rare. Excellent.

Recommendation from a local in the industry should be a can't miss. This was a miss. Service was mid at the very best. Just OK in every way. There was a decent beer list - nothing that I really like, but that's just me being picky it was a decent selection. We tried a couple of appetizers and they were just not good. Mac and cheese balls and something else that I have already forgotten, but I know our group of four left food on the table and we came in hungry. It's a very small space, and on our trip there was a pretty loud group at the bar. That's normally to be expected in a bar, but in this space we were able to hear every word of their conversation which is just weird. Funny, part of the reason the other bar owner recommended this place is because of the 'cute outdoor seating area'. Take a look at the picture. If you are driving through Aberdeen to the beach, I'd have to suggest you keep going.

We came in with friends as a party of eight. The menu states that parties of eight or more receive an automatic 20% gratuity. Fair enough -- I completely expect that with a larger group. What I don't understand is adding another 1.5% "service charge" because of the increased cost of doing business. Just raise your menu prices. I would much rather pay an honest price for my meal than have little fees added to the bill afterward. It feels cheap and completely out of place at a restaurant trying to present itself as upscale. But that isn't what really bothered me. My wife ordered from the kids menu because she simply does not eat a full-sized meal and doesn't like wasting food. The menu we were given did not state that it was restricted to children 12 and under. Instead of simply handling the request politely, our waiter called her out for ordering from the children's menu. I explained that she wasn't trying to save a few dollars -- she just didn't want to waste food. His response was essentially a snarky, "Sorry, not allowed." Seriously, who cares? If the restaurant has a policy, fine. Politely explain it. What isn't fine is making a paying customer feel embarrassed or as though she is trying to pull something over on the restaurant. That was the part that ruined the experience for me. Restaurants sometimes seem to forget that hospitality is actually part of the business. Customers aren't an inconvenience to be managed. We are the reason the doors are open in the first place. We drove all the way out to the Washington coast, were dining as a group of eight, and were perfectly prepared to spend money and leave a 20% gratuity. Instead, my wife was made to feel uncomfortable over something as ridiculous as ordering a smaller portion of food. Koko's can keep the upscale image, the automatic gratuity, the extra service fee, and the attitude. There are far too many restaurants that understand what hospitality means for me to spend my money somewhere that doesn't. I won't be back, and I certainly won't recommend Koko's to friends or family.
